Politics › Re: Atiku Injured, Flown To London For Treatment by Seun(mod): 8:10pm On Mar 14, 2007
You can't even dream of starting a hospital if you are not a doctor, and it's so hard to qualify as one.
Whereas, one can start a buka without a degree in food technology, et cetera. And that's just the beginning.
Politics › Re: Atiku Injured, Flown To London For Treatment by Seun(mod): 8:06pm On Mar 14, 2007
There's a market for high quality healthcare in Nigeria, and there are hospitals that cater to that market. However, because of the billions our politicians possess, they'd rather travel abroad. Afterall it's not their money.

There would be even more high quality hospitals in Nigeria if the industry was not so highly regulated.
Politics › Re: Atiku Injured, Flown To London For Treatment by Seun(mod): 7:54pm On Mar 14, 2007
There's nothing wrong with Atiku going abroad to treat himself, provided he did not steal the funding for the trip.

I believe in living and letting others live. If I express an opinion that's the opposite of that, then I'm joking.

Also, if I say "alright, it was a joke" in my second post, then it's probably a joke. wink

The fact that some people are taking this seriously shows how much we need to learn in this country. lipsrsealed

Family › Re: Spanking A Child: Right Or Wrong? by Seun(mod): 10:50am On Mar 14, 2007
Seun speaks with all the confidence of a man who is not yet a father.
By the time he becomes a father,he will be realistic.
I'm a principled man. I won't suddenly become a child abuser just because my children are bugging me.
However, if I catch my child hitting or beating her junior ones or other children, I might do the same to her.

But tell me unless you plan to home school them and give up your job it will be impossible to spend enough time with them as you have put it.
If I have to choose between home-schooling my child and hitting her like a monkey, I'd go ahead and home-school her. What's the point in having a child if you're not going to devote lots of time to raising the child? huh

Business › Re: Obj Comissions Power Plant: Improved Electricity Supply? by Seun(mod): 9:48am On Mar 14, 2007
with all the investment in the communication sector people still apparently pay through their noses for basic services
This violates basic common sense. The more the investment in a service, the more you will have to pay. Duh!
If prices in the telecoms sector are so high, then why does every conductor now have a mobile phone?

the private sector in Nigeria don't have restrictions on pricing and performance.
Restricting pricing is the second reason why NEPA will never work. If prices are forced down, shortage is guaranteed. Restricted pricing is why we have lots of fuel scarcity and power outtages. Funny enough, we don't have food scarcity. Do you want to know why? It's because the price of food products are not restricted. If you want excellent supply, you must give investors a reward for their labor i.e. profit. Economics 101 sir.

If you're really concerned about pricing, you will favor complete deregulation, because market competition is the only mechanism that can consistently drive down prices without leading to any form of scarcity.

If there is no water, set up a borehole and pup water to houses in your neighbourhood for a monthly fee.
I love you for this. Please tell them very well. Government seems to be a god to these people.

I think it's ok for them to have a relationship provided they use contraceptives whenever having sex.
Since the probability of having a mentally disabled child is so high, they should neutralise themselves and adopt.

At no time did Samm claim to have a 5Ghz processor on this laptop, but we need to know about its flaws.
Programming › Re: Big Deal About Whizkids by Seun(mod): 1:30am On Mar 14, 2007
Bill Gates, to the best of my knowledge doesn't have much of a biz skill
He bought an OS called "DOS" from a programmer and then convinced IBM to license it at $40 per copy instead of buying it outright. He realized the business potential of personal computers while others were busy playing with or ignoring them. He successfully defeated IBM again when their OS/2 failed to supplant Windows 95 despite being released earlier. MS Office defeated Lotus 123 and Wordperfect in the market. All due to his business sense.
