300 million. 450 million. My o my, there is so much money in this country o! |
We have the government because it's a lesser evil. They should focus on maintaining law and order in society. |
If I recall the genesis of this issue correctly, it started with the government complaining to the English Premier League that they don't want the premier league rights for Nigeria to be bunched together with South Africa.DSTV bought and paid for the broadcast licenses with the expectation that Nigeria is included. This was a transaction between two foreign entities. Nigeria has no right to change the terms of that transaction. Period. It's like going to the market to buy a complete car, and after buying it they tell you the engine isn't included. |
Ouch, we can't seem to find any? Maybe you should use fruity loops in the title? |
Any career develpment opportunities on the job? |
Nferyn is not an atheist. He is the resident atheist on Nairaland. After me, of course. UPDATE: Wow, what a video! Someone seriously needs to transcribe it for dialup users! |
Heredity is the likely cause. He should probably check the nipples of his family members. ![]() |
It means the topic has been deleted. It was deleted because it has a high probability of attracting criminal replies. Like the guy who said you should call five guys to assault your girlfriend. ![]() |
My question is this: who took the picture? Because the person was standing right behind the steering wheel. ![]() |
The solution to costly prices in the private sector has always been competition. Pure and simple. That is what keeps prices in the communications sector in check. Subsidization of electricity will just be an opportunity for certain political parasites to steal our money. Nigerians are willing and able to pay for reliable eletricity, if it's available. The suggestion that industries should subsidize free loaders sitting at home will only slow down development. |
I can't wait until the time when I can supply electricity to the people on my street and get paid for it. |
Solution: rip the VCD to your computer, and then burn a new VCD from your PC. The new VCD should work flawlessly. |
You can now post a new topic, but here is a thread that may answer your question: www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-3022.0.html |
That has nothing to do with greed. It's about being smart enough to explore new opportunities to make more money. I don't support the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul either. But, from the rest of your post, you support the idea of robbing DSTV to pay HiTV. Isn't that rather hypocritical? Don't forget that before now, some other companies have been complaining of the monopoly of DSTV and it's effect in the industryIt is normal for incompetent competitors to complain about monopoly instead of working harder to attract customers. If DSTV didn't use any criminal or regulatory methods to obtain its "monopoly" it can be broken by a more competent competitor. These guys know that they are not better than DSTV, so they are manipulating the government into doing their work for them. That is very shameful. Where is the pride of the entrepreneurs at HiTV? |
What's the MOTO GP? Please give us more information. Is it a racing competition? |
Please, let's try to be civil on the land. Thanks. |
I composed an exquisite work of satire and ******************* to appreciate it. Shame on Nigeria. ![]() |
What would be the purpose of the webmaster association? |
How's the baby doing? |
Many of such parents think that gicing their children chocolate and always never making the child unhappy is what it is to be a good and loving parentI guess you think that deliberately making your child unhappy regularly is what makes a good parent? |
No, that was Solomon. The same man who couldn't control his lust for women. You should ignore him. |
If anyone is going to sue, I think it's the other way round. The Hollywood Amazing Grace movie was pribably under development for a longer time, so they have more of a right to sue. Making a good movie is what's important. |
Your project has no substance. That's why you've not been able to tell me what it's about for several weeks. |
European soccer is an expensive and non-essential entertainment item. If you are poor, you won't have time and money to waste on non-essential things. The last thing a poor man needs is the ability to watch the UEFA champions league at home. You can't watch it without a generator, anyway. So if you are truly poor, this thread shouldn't concern you. If you are poor, and you love soccer, you would simply go out and watch it at a sports bar. Let's be sincere with ourselves. What is wrong is wrong, regardless of whether the culprit is a Nigerian or not. Using the government to steal a license from your competitor is wrong, period. What HiTV is doing is wrong. |
WHat's the nature of this project? |
Razorr, most "poor" people I know cannot afford Internet access, yet here you are browsing on a Saturday morning. When I was "poor", my primary concern was not how to watch the UEFA champions league. I was thinking about how to become financially buoyant. The fact that you have time to follow European soccer shows that you are "rich". |
If it eventually turns out completely to be transfer of monopoly of the business from DSTV to HiTV, at least we can console ourselves that it is our own people monoplizing the business and not some foreigners.Using your logic, I guess we should be praising the Niger Delta kidnappers for extorting money from foreigners? I guess we should be praising scammers for robbing foreigners to enrich themselves since they are "our people"? I don't support the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul. What is wrong is wrong, regardless of nationality. |
Christino, what is it about Boro FC that you admire so much? I'm surprised that you did not pick from the top 4. |
The solution is privatization. Break up the monopoly into several pieces and sell each piece to the highest bidder! |
