You may be the world's most intelligent person, but if you don't focus on the right things, you will fail. IBM engineers were not stupid, yet they underestimated the PC market. Yahoo isn't stupid, yet they underestimated search. In the same way, Google isn't stupid, but they are being tempted to take their eyes off the true secrets of their success: relevant search results, the resulting traffic, relevant ads, and respect for the little guy. |
It's very sad, but I haven't bought any novels in a very long time. I may be able to get some Christian books too. Do you also have old books? Why not post them here? |
Quote that bible let us see. The case for rapture before tribulation is very brittle. |

The bible doesn't say the tribulation will occur after the rapture. |
In that case, post your picture as an attachment and tell us what kind of modelling you're interested in. ![]() |
The sign-up cost is too high. It will be hard for your customers to pay their registration fee and still have enough left to donate. So what graphcard provides to web merchants is not appealing. Anyone using them here? |
I've heard stories of wives who got arrested for attacking their husbands, so for women attacking babysitters or maids it is exactly the same. Whether you are a man or a woman, keep your open palm to yourself! |
kheme, why Globacom? Thanks. others, I'll look at the blackberry, Treo, palm, and those other phones you mentioned. Are they expensive? I'm also considering Multilinks for the affordability: Local Calls (NITEL & PTO's): N 6.50 National Calls: Within Zone N 12.00 Outside Zone N 22.00 GSM Calls: N 20.00 International Calls: As per new Nitel Rate Unfortunately, they also have - A monthly subscription fee of 1,000 naira - A choice of only two mobile phones: Nokia 3520 (N10k), Nokia 6360 (N21k) |
JK Rowlings came up with the idea and put her imagination to paper. What about the person that 'came up with the idea' for Indomie? Why am I not worshipping him/her? nobody looks at their poop and says ''Wow, this is a work of art!"When I put Indomie in my mouth I think, "wow, what a delicious experience!", so why don't I care about the creator? |
If one doesn't exist, you can go ahead and create it. I guess it's something I might venture into soon enough. |
Hello there, Are you an asipiring Nigerian model? Do you want more exposure? Let's see your pictures! Thanks. |
You all are going to buy a book because Rita Dominic is on its cover? Now I see why the entertainment industry is addicted to celebrities. Yes, she's lovely, but she probably doesn't have the time to read the book herself! |
It should be reattempted on this thread since the title is more suitable. Now you see why I fight against off-topic posts. |
See also 'Is The Web Design Business Lucrative?' It's not a bubble. There's a genuine demand for web presence in the country, and there are companies abroad that will like to outsource to Nigeria if the fraud factor is reduced. As the money you can make for building a simple website goes down, there will be more demand for advanced dynamic websites. So a web developer who is improving his skills every day will continue to make money. |
Many people love tabloids, you know: Daily Sun is very popular. And rumors are easier to gather than news! ![]() |
edge made a most insighful statement, which I agree with a bit: the entertainment industry is different because it primarily apeals to the emotion.I guess what's happening is that since there is little substance in entertainment, and people don't really need it like they need food, the entertainment industry needs to use gimmicks to sell their products. I mean I love Indomie but it has never crossed my mind to ask for the authograph of the person who formulated it. So why do people want J K Rowlings' authographs? |

When a politician asks his team to prepare a campaign speech for him, he doesn't have to say at the end "this speech was prepared by Miss Kowolowora and Mr. Audu and, " When corporate executive asks her secretary to prepare a letter for her, he doesn't have to list "credits" at the back. Yet when you write a novel, you must thank your editor, publisher, friends, family and cats in the preface. In a movie, the names of the hundreds of people with minor contributions must be listed in the credits. I mean, it's so funny to me. Why doesn't the idea of work for hire apply in the entertainment industry? You prepare a work for me, I pay you, and we shake hands. Or I pay you a good salary, and my company owns all your work! |
Goal by the Germans!! |
Ashiwaju, business name registration is what you mean by "ventures and enterprises". Where should I go if I want to register a business name? Are you involved in this business? Thanks! |
Hello, I think I need a functioning mobile phone. My MTEL line isn't reliable so I tend to switch it off! The problem is this: I want a cost-effective phone as well as a GSM/CDMA network that will serve me well as a businessman. I want low cost but I also want some features and flexibility. I need a mobile phone network with: - Low call rates for local (and maybe international) calls. - Very low monthly maintenance cost and very long validity periods per recharge. - Affordable phone browsing (GPRS?) so I can access my website on the road - optional. My ideal phone would support the above features as well as: - Voice recording - Effortless transfer of data to and from a PC (USB?) - Playing of MP3 Music tracks and listening with an earphone. Which Nigerian phone network do you think I should choose? What about the phone? Thanks a million! |
I think the unconventional approach Google takes to everything is what makes them such a success. You do not need to think about what makes Google a success. All you need to do is read their reports. What makes Google a success: 1) A search engine that draws more traffic - because it's more accurate and comprehensive than the others. 2) A system for showing highly relevant ads on the search engine's result pages - copied from Overture. 3) A system for displaying these same adverts on 3rd party websites as well as Google's other sites. 4) There is no 4. What makes Google a success is what puts money into their bank account: their highly effective ads. News coverage is not success. A product that impresses a journalist is not necessarily a winner. Look at Nairaland, we've never been featured in a newspaper yet we have more traffic than the featured ones. |
Here are some more, with a smoothing filter applied to them.

MP007, why won't you enjoy a black car when it's old? ![]() |
DoMH, perhaps you shouldn't be involved in business if you give up so easily? Business isn't for quitters! |

I wonder how one is supposed to choose a lawyer. |
What Money Is: - Money is a catalyst that makes trade possible. - Money enables me to use what I have to get what I want. - Money gives me the incentive to serve others faithfully. - Money is a reward of hardworking people on earth. - Money is worth nothing if people don't accept it. Who Creates Money: - The central bank creates a little money by printing bank notes. - Commercial banks create a most of the money by giving loans. - Inflation is what happens when too much money is created. - Too much money is created all the time. This is a hidden tax. ![]() |

Hello freelance, You will find the 'Company Registration In Nigeria' discussion useful. I think it costs 5,000 naira or so to register a business name. Is there a Nairaland member who performs this service? - Seun Osewa |
