What is happening in Zimbabwe is what happens when governments meddle in the economy thinking they can get something for nothing. The rich farmers were providing food for the country and you just threw them out. All their lives they had considered themselves as Zimbabweans and Mugabe robbed them in broad daylight. ![]() |
Ask anyone in business. If you don't have govt connections/support/interests you are either screwed, or too small to bother about. The solution to this problem is not to ask the government to "invest in agriculture". The solution is to ask the politicians to get their hands off the economy and mind their own business of enforcing law and order! God knows that Nigerians are not lazy. But our government is not proactive. And the rulers are kleptocrats in power. The only area in which government needs to be proactive is in maintaining law and order. Instead of meddling with the 'economy', they should reform the police and legal system so if someone defrauds me I can get quick compensation. Most developed/This is very wrong. Most developed countries started with the idea of government providing just law and order. As they got more prosperous people started crying on government to provide more and more. The example of Sweden is similar to many other developed countries: How the Welfare State Corrupted Sweden. Leave him (seun), would there be nairaland if government banned internet connectivity and cybercafes? Would there be gsm if the operators where refused licenses? Lazy Nigerians indeed.I am not aware of any farmer who has been refused license to farm in this country. Besides, it is not the person that gives licenses that is responsible for the development of any technology. Nigerian politicians are not responsible for the GSM revolution, they are not responsible for Nairaland, and if a few smart entrepreneurs decide to invest heavily in agriculture to make Nigeria a superpower in that area also it will have nothing to do with the politicians. If government is meddling in your preferred business, asking them to 'invest' is a wrong response. The right response is to ask them to mind their business of reforming the police, prisons and legal system. |
Hi guysThat should probably be girls. Guys won't give you their sisters even if you ask. ![]() |
Seye, Can you list prices for specific stations and time slots you are aware of? One may want to have a general idea of the cost of TV advertising in Nigeria without visiting all the TV stations. Any specific examples? Thanks. |
davidylan: what school did you attend that provided all that and when? |
Perhaps we should start a church and call it Redeemed Humanist Church of Atheists (RHCA). |
My area of interest is developing scientific, engineering and mathematical applications. Do you think FORTRAN will be suitable?I think so. I'm just concerned that your area of interest might not be lucrative since Matlab does all. It's always good to pick one's area of interest based on what is in demand, so one can make money. |
Thanks for sharing. Those who are lusting for a job at Intercontinental now know what to do. |
Yes, I have a question. Why should we not tie our trades with dollars or euros? ![]() |
LiquidMind:It is not the job of the government to invest in anything; it is the job of the private sector which is you and I. Instead of asking the government to invest in agriculture, you should go and start your own farm. Nigeria Government is too LazyIf anything, it is the Nigerian citizens that are too lazy. Always crying to government for everything. |
We still haven't heard more about her. Perhaps she's not interested in the Internet. Too bad. |
Should we turn this into a cheerleaders forum game? Nike, start; please cheer us! |
If it's an integer, I can help. But raising to the power of a floating point number? No idea! |
If a lady says she's African, and she has the citizenship, she's African. If she wanted to be an American they will have granted her citizenship. There's nothing fundamentally black about Africa; afterall we have light-skinned Arabs. |
Thanks for sharing. Please don't give us any spoilers so we'll have maximum enjoyment of the soap opera. Yes, the online spoilers are all fake. The events so far have been different from what the spoilers predicted. |
It's easier to get free assistance from others on popular programming languages like PHP, Java, C++, C# and Visual Basic .net because there are so many people who use them. If you get stuck with COBOL or FORTRAN who is going to help you out? If you write your company's software with COBOL or FORTRAN where will you get good programmers to maintain the software for you? They'll be more expensive! |
Hehe, I think they are just testing the limits of free speech. It's very unlikely that they really want animal sex. |
Here's a brilliant idea: why not just stop cheating instead of insisting that you'll for ever be cheating? ![]() |
