What is happening in Zimbabwe is what happens when governments meddle in the economy thinking they can get something for nothing. The rich farmers were providing food for the country and you just threw them out. All their lives they had considered themselves as Zimbabweans and Mugabe robbed them in broad daylight.

Ask anyone in business. If you don't have govt connections/support/interests you are either screwed, or too small to bother about.

The solution to this problem is not to ask the government to "invest in agriculture". The solution is to ask the politicians to get their hands off the economy and mind their own business of enforcing law and order!

God knows that Nigerians are not lazy. But our government is not proactive. And the rulers are kleptocrats in power.

The only area in which government needs to be proactive is in maintaining law and order. Instead of meddling with the 'economy', they should reform the police and legal system so if someone defrauds me I can get quick compensation.

This is very wrong. Most developed countries started with the idea of government providing just law and order. As they got more prosperous people started crying on government to provide more and more. The example of Sweden is similar to many other developed countries: How the Welfare State Corrupted Sweden.

I am not aware of any farmer who has been refused license to farm in this country. Besides, it is not the person that gives licenses that is responsible for the development of any technology. Nigerian politicians are not responsible for the GSM revolution, they are not responsible for Nairaland, and if a few smart entrepreneurs decide to invest heavily in agriculture to make Nigeria a superpower in that area also it will have nothing to do with the politicians. If government is meddling in your preferred business, asking them to 'invest' is a wrong response. The right response is to ask them to mind their business of reforming the police, prisons and legal system.

It is not the job of the government to invest in anything; it is the job of the private sector which is you and I. Instead of asking the government to invest in agriculture, you should go and start your own farm.

Fifa has launched a probe into whether Arsenal have broken regulations which may leave the club exposed to possible expulsion from the Champions League. BBC Newsnight has learnt that a police probe in Belgium has concluded Arsenal made secret payments of £1m to Beveren. Arsenal have admitted providing a loan to Beveren, but say they have never had a controlling influence over the club. Fifa are investigating whether Arsenal have breached rules governing fair play and conflict of interest.

Arsenal Football Club is aware that BBC Newsnight is carrying a story this evening purporting to describe Arsenal's relationship with Belgian football club, Beveren.

Arsenal does not normally make public its agreements with third parties. However, Arsenal can confirm that it has had a technical relationship with Beveren since 2001. This relationship has a number of benefits to both clubs such as providing a platform to share coaching methods and techniques as well as facilitating the option of players being loaned between the clubs. For example, during the course of the relationship, Arsenal players David Grondin, Liam Chilvers, John Halls and Graham Stack all spent successful loan periods at Beveren as did Emmanuel Eboue, who played in a number of trial matches with Arsenal whilst contracted to Beveren. Such was the latter player's success, Arsenal subsequently signed Eboue on a permanent basis.

In addition, Arsenal confirms that it has never owned, directly or indirectly, any shares in Beveren or had any power whatsoever to influence its management or administration. It did in 2001 provide funds of 1,570,703 Euros by way of loan to a member of the consortium to assist in stabilising the finances of Beveren.

At no time has anyone at Arsenal been contacted by any regulatory or investigatory body with respect to its relationship with Beveren. Arsenal and all its staff have acted properly throughout, in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, and in the best interests of Beveren, Arsenal and the broader footballing community.

I think the most important thing is for friends to bring out the best in each other and demonstrate loyalty. My closest friends right now are male e-friends outside Nigeria. They all annoy me regularly, except one mature Nigerian.

As for females, I have only had engaging conversations with those based abroad. People who can't appreciate my dreams and numerous ideas can't bring out the best in me. So even though I have respected ladies for various reasons, it's hard for them to capture my attention. There has to be more to a lady than her sexuality.

I can also tell you what I think friends are not for. Friends are not for criticism, they are not for conditional acceptance. friends are not for offending you and refusing to say sorry. Friends are not for milking you dry when you have a little money, or manipulating you into doing things their way by making you feel guilty.

Friends should make you happy, because love is blissful not painful. I'm quick to drop painful friends!
