Politics / Re: Gov Aregbesola Commends FG For Completing Ilesha Dam After 50 Years, Ask For Mor by sEyi6: 11:21am On Sep 21, 2013
awodman:

In otherwords a POLICY is quite different from a PHYSICAL PROJECT...I hope the young man understands this

You two(yourself and the poster above you) don't get me. My emphasis is on Aregbesola's objectiveness and frankness without involving sentiment in commenting on development of whatever form(physical and policies) from the ruling party.

For him to have commended the minister and the FG for the physical project(DAM construction), that tells much about his observation on the minister of agriculture's policies, which he believed are not working. Not because he is not cooperative with agric minister like @ sincer9erian wrote, but he was simply being truthful on how the policies have worked in his state.

If he was not cooperative with the agric minister for sentimental reason(which is common to our politicians), he wouldn't have ever commended the FG for the DAM, which he understood as a plus for Jonathan and his team.

That spirit of not mingling politics with everything, being appreciative irrespective of who takes the glory even if it's not you and your party which Aregbe has exhibited is what I commended him for, which I wish our politicians(from both parties) should emulate.

The objective of politics is to deliver for the people by the elected, not minding who and the party that takes the glory.

Like I posted on this forum earlier on, I respect that man called aregbe.
He talked ill and lashed out on the minister of agriculture about his policies that he believed not to be working, but here is he commending the ministry of water resources and the FG.

This is one thing our other politicians full of hatred, envy and good at badmouthing others because of their sentimental mind need to emulate. I remember Labaran Maku saying Fashola did nothing in Lagos, but was only planting flowers and another one also from the ruling party said Fashola's achievement was over hyped, and not the best governor like people said.
I remember last year, I watched Akande as he commended Akpabio of Akwa Ibom for his wonderful work in his state.
The ruling party should learn from their counterpart's objectiveness.

I think the FG need to save this their daily epistle about improvement in electricity, and get things done. We've been hearing this and that for over four decades. The energy and money they spend in telling us how much progress they have made could have been channeled into further improvement of power. Nigerians will appreciate them ones the power is fixed, stable and sufficient in every state, town and village across Nigeria.

These daily stories make one take them for joke.

How could we have known if he conducted test and interview for them or not?
Politics / Re: As Aviation Minister,I Filled Vacancies In My Ministries With More Yorubas - FFK by sEyi6: 7:29am On Sep 18, 2013
Sunny_bobo: Being well qualified is a different thing to due process. I don't care if everybody working in a ministry come from Ogbomosho as long as the selection process is transparent, follows due process and is based on merit.

You are right, but how do know if he followed due process in employing them? As for the merit, he(FFK) said 'they were all qualified for the job'.

This is Teslim Balogun stadium that belongs to Lagos state government, which Fashola has maintained well.

Very good, fayemi should be challenged to work harder.
I'm not in support of SW governors not being challenged even in their party, like what is happening in Osun. That state is the only state in SW that no one from the gov's party is challenging the gov. by vying for the governor's position. Aregbesola is doing excellently well, but I wish to see someone of good reputation coming up in his party to make the seat more competitive and not make them too comfortable to the extent of relaxing from their progressive nature and standard. At the long run, it would be for the betterment of our people. I wish the best candidate wins

Why not?

Good to see that Osun is moving away from the usual trend of using sancrete blockwall for external and partitioning walls for building bungalows.

I commend whoever suggested this to the state government of Osun.

Balloon framing buildings are actually faster to construct and cheaper than those made of sandcrete blockwalls.

If you really know Ibadan, man you will understand the great relieve this flyover has brought to the people of the city. Its actually worth praising the governor for actualizing it in his two years in office which his predecessor never thought of.

anonimi:
Anyway, even a military governor built one in the same Ibadan. For those who may be having memory loss, a little reFRESH may be needed:
I guess you omitted that part of my post that stated that "no single flyover was built in ibadan since the return of democracy(1999-2011) by any governor, not until Ajimobi became the governor".
Has any state of the federation had any military governor since 1999 till date?
Can you find the year "1979"(the year molete bridge was built) between 1999 and 2013?

Madawaki01: Though d Op is mad..but is it true dat it was a tricyle dat pulled down d barrier??

Don't tell me you fell for that cheap lie. Can a tricycle hit a blockwall and the tricycle won't get crushed? Not to talk of hitting a steel barrier meant to prevent trailers and tankers from passing.

You see how intellectually shallow previous oyo state politicians are, that they couldn't even form a reasonable lie.
Politics / Re: Ajimobi's Mokola Bridge Scam Exposed by sEyi6: 9:40am On Sep 04, 2013
Since Nigeria returned to democracy(in 1999) no single flyover was built by any governor that ruled Oyo state, but Ajimobi built and commissioned one at the ever-busy Mokola junction within two years in office. On the day of commissioning, people of ibadan in their thousands gathered to witness this good development that has been halted by the previous governments of the state from 1999-2011. With this, the governor's supporters and lovers increased drastically which the opposition were not cool with. These opposition: Ladoja and Akala(same set of people that ruled Oyo state from 2003 to 2011) that never thought of constructing a flyover not to mention commissioning one went ahead to give false impression that the bridge is substandard thereby causing panic amidst the people of Ibadan and discouraged them of using the bridge.
Few weeks later, after the commissioning a driver ran into the barrier used in obstructing heavy trucks(trailers, tankers, lorries) from plying the bridge over the NIGHT and got it damaged.

One thing that I think our politicians in Nigeria need to learn from their western counterparts is making the welfare and good living of the people they are governing or wish to govern their priority. Causing panic ordinarily is a crime because it makes the people feel unsafe. But our politicians see as a way to score political points

How could Ladoja have concluded that the bridge built is substandard without any test to prove it is?

Throughout his stay in office he never thought of building one not to mention a standard one for the people of Ibadan, but Ajimobi built one within his two years in office.

Could it be coincidence that a bridge that Ladoja has been shouting of about it's originality got damaged by a driver AT NIGHT few weeks after it was commissioned?

Is it a crime if Ladoja had pointed out a fault found in the flyover(if at all there is any) and call the government to order secretly and later politicize it if the flyover later developed a major fault that renders it useless?

All these just proved how dirty Oyo state politics is, but it's cool how Ajimobi didn't do anything rascal as retaliation and make things messy like they've been playing it before he joined oyo politics.

Lol @ Osun PDP.
Either Osun PDP disown Oyinlola or Oyinlola disown Osun PDP, it is unfortunate that both Osun PDP and Oyinlola are politically dead are too insignificant in Osun politics.
Even when Oyinlola was with these same Osun PDP guys, when they had him as their flag bearer for senate, they (the party and the candidate) all lost woefully to an ACN(now APC) candidate that was a newbie in politics.

Osun state should be the least state PDP should ever think of. I personally think it is reasonable for PDP to aspire of winning Lagos than Osun.

Osun state is the only state PDP won NO SINGLE political post in 2011 election. The only state in the south(SW/SS/SE) and middle-belt that Jonathan couldn't win.

But I think it favors Oyinlola to associate with Atiku's PDP faction, since Jonathan's PDP faction does not want him and he is politically irrelevant in his state. Atiku's PDP faction at least have him as their secretary, which is something in politics.

Good observation OP.
And ba7man your points are so true.
But I put 60% of the blame on environmental sciences lecturers in schools(archi lecturers specifically).
They are so not ready to blend with the modern architecture.
Any design that is above their understanding due to their outdated method of design is useless and unachievable. They prefer square-like shapes and discourage irregular and edgeless shapes like the hotel the OP has above.
Another major factor that hinders few Nigerian architects that like to make crazy designs from doing so is power(electricity). By the time you consider all these factors of lightening, ventilation and the likes when designing you will realize that you've been pinned down to the normal trend if you want your design to be effectively functional. Architects in the western and eastern world have little of these factors to put into consideration due to power and technological advancement.
Even in near-by Ghana, you have less to put into consideration when designing just because they have stable electricity.

Gboliwe: undecided I still group this as a propaganda. When we let it fly around, somebody adds flesh to it and then . . . The polity is already on a time bomb, one slip from either parties and it blows up.

Bro, it sounds ridiculous. But I bet you would have said this same thing when it was still rumor that 5 lawmakers would impeach a speaker, that 16 votes would be more than 19 votes to determine who the NGF chairman is.
Another latest is the emergence of bokoharam in Lagos, Ogun and Rivers state. Don't they all sound insane to you? Boko haram jumps all states on their way and preferred to only hide in states that the governments are not in good term with Mr. President.
Could all these be coincidence?
Logic should tell you how desperate this present GEJ government is in returning to power.

Erm.. NO SIR!!

While I am 100% with all those saying that 'THIS IS A F.G ROAD', I am also saying that 'Lagos State Government cant fold its arms and continue pointing to the F.G'.. The poeple that are dying are Lagosians (either by brith, Residence or tribe) and ultimately Nigerians.

Since LASG has a Penchant for over inflated road contracts, one cant blame the F.G for having issues with them. The Lekki Road is still fresh on our minds. Also since its a F.G road, one cant overly fault the LASG for not fixing it. BUT WHILE THE BLAME GAME IS ON;

'Another Lagosian just died from an accident on that road;'

Seems you were not patient enough on this thread to have omitted posts that specified federal roads in Lagos state that LASG has taken up and constructed. You supported Federal government for hindering Lasg from constructing this road due your claims of Lasg inflating the price, and also blaming Lagos for not Constructing the road.

Erm....

Well, I obviously dont have common sense like some people rightly said here, but I wonder what all these 'F.G' and 'State Government' thing you are saying has do to with the state of this road. I am not in the government. My car is not even an SUV. Sooooo! While Fashola & the F.G are there debating whose road that is, we are losing Nigerians to drowning by Flood. Meanwhile, everybody who dies from the state of that road would neither be buried or compensated by the F.G nor the S.G. But hey!! Common Sense says we should allow both tiers of Governments settle the matter in their own jolly time..

ARGH!! Meanwhile, other states are doing it. And even before we speak about their Allocation from the F.G, lets also note that Lagos State has the highest Internally Generated Revenue amongst all the States in Nigeria.

If the F.G has a problem with Fashola building Federal Roads, its because he uses 1 billion to construct 1 Km of road.

I'm not exhornorating the F.g, just saying that the excuse of 'THIS IS A FEDERAL ROAD' is now moot.

Let's assume your bolded assertion were right, then you are suggesting that the road should be left to rotten and continue to take people's life, right?
