nedu2000: He should'nt 'ave gone public, his misconduct could be of detriment to the church......this isn't politics or social circles, religion has different stances
He is one of the very few people(in this situation) who have a conscience! Those who hide behind lawyers and lies have no conscience! The matter is a matter of public interest. If we say he should not have gone public, are we then saying all matters of sekzual misconduct by those public figures should on be heard in private? How is that justice for victims of sekzual misconduct who these private sins have ruined their whole life?

modath: That means your interview was after ours some minutes after the lady was granted.I wasn't shocked at all.I listened to her and she convinced the guy that going to the US will ensure continous funding of her project, she said and I quote "as the project co-ordinator,the donor needs an analysis of how the funds are utilised so we can get another grant",she was ARTICULATE!!we got the same guy in cubicle 9,he wasn't lenient one bit, we just stuck to what was in our DS-160 and didn't try to waver one bit,I'm unemployed, filled it in my form & didn't try to dress it up or put any spin when I was asked.
You might remember us,I was with my husband, wore a grey dress,my SO wore a black striped shirt & tan trousers.Go to the USA visit visa thread, all the questions&answers we gave are there.
I think it is ridiculous that these interviews are not conducted in private at all. How does knowing other people are listening every word you say help any Visa applicant? Some people would be crapping themselves even if alone in a private room in front of an interviewer. Utterly ridiculous!

adaybayor: 54 views and just one reply, silly hypocrites. That's what you all are!!!
Your signature: Laa iqra fi deen...there is no compulsion in religion...so says ALLAH (GOD).

I think we can also say 'THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN REPLYING TO RELIGIOUS THREADS' grin grin grin Abi na by force?

adaybayor: 1. We will need to carry out a census to know
2. Maybe, but that doesn't justify the attacks by xtians on islamic threads, if you think otherwise let me know.
3. Oh this can't be true because the last time I checked it is the mods that decide which post hit the front page
4. Must be the lie of the century, checkout for yourself. Most of the islamic threads often have to do with the religious doctrines but we always see xtians trying to derail them, why? Pure hatred if you ask me.
5. So what? Do xtians not have separate section? Nobody is asking xtians to show interest, just stay out what's not ur business, simple.
6,7,8,9m Now you know you are lying. What xtians do is not criticism nor debate. Calling muslims names, saying all sort of rubbish about God and His prophet, is that what you call arguments? Do you see muslims doing that on xtian threads?
More xtians in nigeria than muslims? Says who? By what parameters? You must be joking really.

10,11.What has this got to do with the issue on ground, ask relevant Q. I am not complaining about the xtian posts on the front page. All I am asking is why so much complaint when islamic threads get to the front. So don't mix it together. Read my original post again.

12. My observation isn't just based on sunday. A million xtian post can hit the front page a day, I can't care less. Xtians should just learn to keep to their business. Can you imagine a xtian on a thread about salat, what has he to contribute?

I hope I answered you Qs.
Will attend to your reply sometime! grin grin grin
Christianity EtcRe: Cardinal Keith O'brien Resigns As Archbishop by seyibrown(f):
[size=14pt]News Update - O'Brien apologizes for his conduct!

[b] Cardinal Keith O'Brien has admitted that there have been times when his sekzual conduct "fell beneath expected standards".

The 74-year resigned as Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh last week over allegations of improper behaviour up to 30 years ago.

In a statement issued by the Catholic Church in Scotland, he said: "In recent days certain allegations which have been made against me have become public. Initially, their anonymous and non-specific nature led me to contest them.

"However, I wish to take this opportunity to admit that there have been times that my sekzual conduct has fallen below the standards expected of me as a priest, archbishop and cardinal.

"To those I have offended, I apologise and ask forgiveness.

"To the Catholic Church and people of Scotland, I also apologise.

"I will now spend the rest of my life in retirement. I will play no further part in the public life of the Catholic Church in Scotland."

adaybayor: Waking up this morning to see the number xtian topics making the front page, one can only conclude that the average xtian is a hypocrite.

To counter my own argument, I moved into the threads and couldn't find people asking why so much xtian related topics on the front page unlike it is the norm whenever a muslim related topic hits the front page.

Soon this same xtians will be crying of intolerance....smh
Do yo not think this could be as a result of the following:

1. More Xtians than Muslims on NL
2. More Xtians posting Xtian topics than Muslims posting Muslim Topics
3. More Xtians posting front page worthy topics than Muslims
4. More anti-xtianity posts by non-xtians than anti-islam posts
5. Reduced interest in Islamic topics as they have a separate Section
6. Reduced interest in Islamic topics as non-muslim contributors get banned willy-nilly wink wink
7. Islamic MODs/ Certain NL Muslims not tolerating open debates/criticism of Islam on NL
8. Reduced interest in Islamic topics due to the quality of contribution/debate by Muslims
9. More xtians in Nigeria than Muslims
10. More xtians in the world than Muslims
11. More Nigerian Xtains in Diaspora than Muslims
12. Today being a Sunday rather than a Friday

..... just to mention a few.

I'll be lucky if this thread doesn't get closed or moved to the Islamic section where non-muslims easily get banned/prevented from contributing.

wirinet: I must congress that i am not a lawyer, but i know that not every agreement is binding. An illegal agreement cannot be binding even if it was signed by both parties. What i am contesting is the legality of a law that discriminates and affects only women. Even in state governments make laws that are rendered a nullity. For example if you make someone sign an agreement that he will give 10% kickback if awarded a contract and the person reneged on the agreement, the contract awardee cannot withhold final payment based on the illegal agreement. The problem is most people do not contest laws in the courts dues to expensive and rigorous litigation process. That is why this case would be a very interesting case, because i expect the lawyer to contest the legality of the agreement in a country practising a secular constitution.
You got it, not all agreements can be held to be binding in law! Interesting case. It will boil down to whether pre-marital sex is illegal under the country's laws, and then they will have to show they did not fire her for being pregnant! I think she's got them one way or the other!

I don't support the lashing ... but if certain schools are allowed to mandate Hijabs for female students regardless of their religion (as seen in the North), why can't other schools mandate 'no Hijabs'?

I don't support religious discrimination but I believe rules should be applied equally across board.

Thank you ... but we will respond in due course to that thread. I remember a thread where soemone was disputing the 'bible says earth is flat and has four corners' claim with the analogy of a university never having four walls.

Some muslims tend to get over-excited with their scriptures and claims of inaccuracy/invalidity/corruption of the Bible but they always end up with their tails in between their legs.

Patience, ooman, We'll get to the thread.
Christianity EtcRe: H by seyibrown(f): 6:54pm On Mar 02, 2013
okeyxyz: @italo'

You do not understand the passages(1 cor 7:1-9) you quoted; So I will go over them with you:

1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman.
#To "touch" here does not mean to abstain from s.exual intercourse. You bible version is an huge mistranslation\miistunderstanding of original scripture. I'd simply ask you to look at a bible concordance\dictionary, you'd see that "touch" here means to posses a woman for yourself alone, in other words: to marry

2 But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. 3 The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
#Immoralities here means the negative emotions associated with sexual relationships; ie: jealousy, bitterness, quarrels, etc. So immorality comes about when sex is given\taken unwillingly or without love. From pauls coversations, it is apparent that they were sharing sex partners as a result of the liberties that comes with christianity(Yes! this was the original christian doctrine) but because some(or most) people were not happy with sharing their partners, then prompted Paul to direct every man to stick to his wife and every woman to stick to her husband in order to avoid fornication(quarrels\jealousy\etc).

6 But this I say by way of concession, not of command. 7 Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that. 8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. 9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
#Paul says this directive is conceeded\allowed, though not perfect. That is: the perfect type of a relationship is an unmarried one, but if your emotions does not allow you to share, then it's better to marry and own your woman\man than to burn with passion(again, passion is an negative emotion like jealousy, it does not mean s.exual urge as people interpret it today). Paul empassizes that it is better not to marry and encourages EVERYBODY to be like himself, he doesn't say that it is better not to have s.ex. We understand that Paul and the apostles were not married but I can't believe that they were not having s.ex. IMPOSSIBLE!!!. Abstinence from sex is not a holy act, it is a pagan practice, with nothing to do with christianity. Those who espouse celibacy as a holy discipline simply have no understanding. Take this if you can: The perfect sex is sex without marriage because marriage itself is the root of all negative emotions about sex.
See as he turns the truth completely upside down and preaches a lie! shocked shocked immorality = negative emotions?? shocked shocked I can't believe this!

Car TalkRe: Have You Ever Slept Off While Driving? by seyibrown(f): 1:24pm On Mar 02, 2013
I was jolted by the sound of a loud scratching on my passenger side mirror being taken off by a truck! The driver must have been furious as he was honking loudly! My heart was in my mouth! I had hardly slept in 3 days due to long distance travel and preparation for a court hearing that has concluded that day. Got home an hour later, parked the car and went to bed. Next day, my neighbour asks 'what happened to your car?' The passenger side door was a complete write-off! I hadn't realised the extent to which I had been in danger until I went round the passenger side when my neighbour alerted me.

When travelling long-distance now, I leave for my destination at least two hours early so I can park and sleep on the way!

You don't slap a 23 year old to correct them! That is assault!

You need to talk to her like an adult. Let her know you prefer to be 'exhorted' by word rather than slaps. Let her know exactly how it makes you feel and what steps you would take if the slaps do not stop, in a very respectful manner.

Inhumane treatment, lack of discretion, Ignorance of basic human rights, and possible criminal behaviour on the part of the KAI officials. They would not have treated their own family like that.
