I would not take all these buahaha seriously. Igbos and yorubas could argue all day but they won't go as far as killing themselves. We've all lived together for so long and I don't think words will affect our relationship. My close friends are yorubas, we mock each others tribe sometimes but never take it personal. Southern Nigeria is filled with educated peeps and I doubt ranting amongst ourselves will lead to shoving knives in our throat. Islam has been a draw back lately and I wish black Africans can stop making it as a do or die.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a Church/Pastor investing in business. Christian businesses are an opportunity show the world Christ by doing business in a christ-like way! I look forward to seeing more and more successful Christian establishments in every business sector! What I would deeply question is a lack of welfare programme for the Church/Pastor's less privileged church members. A Church/Pastor that is wealthy enough to invest in business should be 'christ-like' enough to help its/his needy church members.

Church-goers who do not want their Pastors to be wealthy through Tithes and Offerings should move to Churches where the Pastors are paid fixed Salaries and benefits out of the church takings (and the rest of takings are used to help needy church members or invested in businesses), and bear in mind that members will still give gifts to the Pastor.

Bring on 'Dominion Bank' but make sure your church members aren't hungry or homeless!

The Court did right in holding him for the protection of the minors in his church and the society at large, pending full investigation and trial. It's very saddening when alleged molesters are released back into society knowing full well their will be no monitoring of their movements/actions or any protection in place for the minors they will come in contact with.

Terrible situation to be in ...... but I believe the head of the family should have sacrificed himself for his family as Christ sacrificed himself for us. How would the Mother and Father live not knowing what would be done to their child! I can imagine endless nights of them imagining all sorts of horrible things happening to the kid. They had a duty to protect the child. Sad situation.

belabela: It was actually directed at you and I completely agree with you that prophecy is a gift that is used to edify the church of God. God has a nature and Jonah understood the nature of God. When a message is given from the Lord it is called a prophecy. That message normally has a purpose and if the purpose is not known then you miss the whole essence of the prophecy. Why did God send Jonah to Nineveh? To warn the people of an impending destruction. However the people were not destroyed because they repented and God does not despise a man with a contrite heart and an humble spirit. If God send a message to a church that there will be famine in the land. The church should ask what is it that the Lord require us to do? if God says the some devils have agreed to cause a road accident for members going on mission to a village, is God saying they shouldn't go anymore? NO! he is calling their attention to prayer. They are already engaged in a spiritual battle which they will win in God. But somebody can foolishly go about saying God says do not go to preach in that village cos their will be accident.

Now we are talking about marriage. It is not the nature of God to impose a wife on anyone or tell someone "that is not your wife" at least not the supreme God. Marriage is not a subconscious exercise or what somebody else will decide for you. Every marriage has its challenges whether 1 million pastors say it's from God or not. Man is not a zombie as not to know what they want and why they make their decision. Most of the times it is fear of the future that make brethren stand before diviners ( aka prophets) to tell them who they should marry. That is not from God.

Is it at all possible for a man to want to marry a woman for all the wrong reasons e.g infatuation? Is it possible that such a man is not in tune with the spirit of God and cannot hear him? Is it possible for God to warn him through a prophet?

I believe the best approach for a christian when it comes to marriage is to ask God to chose for them. Why? God knows you better than you do, God see the heart of the person you think you want to marry, and God sees the whole picture. It helps to start asking God to choose before we set our hearts on a particular person. When you ask God to lead you, he will never mislead you. There are true prophets and there are fake prophets.

okeyxyz: A true chritian cannot sin because he is dead(through christ) to this law. Just like a dead man is unaware of anything going on around him, a true christian is also unaware of the law and it's doctrines, he has no conscience of them and therefore is not subject to and cannot be judged by them. He has transcended to liberty. While the law condemns(thou shalt not...) the man for being himself through the things he's naturally supposed to use and enjoy(food, drink, beauty, music, pleasure, art\science, knowledge, etc)

How many xtians today are true xtians? Many xtians are still on the journey to getting to the place where they overcome sin by grace. Many xtians still wallow in sin, and the law is the only guide that sets them right because they are still deaf to hearing the spirit of God. Many xtians do not know the power they carry inside them and as such still have to rely on the law to point them in the right direction. A little child (xtain) does not know that it is unacceptable to lie or to steal until you (The law or the Holy Spirit) tell them it is not acceptable.

Are you saying that Christians who have been sent to prison for fraud, abuse etc have committed no sin? Do you know that some victims of the catholic sekz abuse were told by their abusers that they (the priests) could do no wrong?

If we cannot sin, why does the bible tell us to flee from all unrighteousness? When we say a Christian cannot sin, we need to make it clear that what a xtian has through Christ is the grace (power) not to sin; we can still sin by choice and get rewarded accordingly for our deed. We have very clear examples all around us of xtians who chose to sin and are publicly paying the price for it.

Temptation comes to us all but we as xtians have the grace through Christ to tell it where to go! While grace and forgiveness abounds, there is no liberty to sin or wallow in sin in Christ. Sin does not become righteousness just because you are a Xtian.

Guitarlife: toba, what i did with my post was to show the loop hole in your submission. You harped on the need for couples to be sure they are compatible before tying the knots and you went on to profer long courtship as a perfect recipe and i on the other hand tell you that no matter how long you court a woman if you don't sleep with her you will never be able to clarify the issue of sex.ual compatibilith between you two.
Now for me i believe sexual compatibility ranks highest amongst what prospective couples would desire and since aa christians , they will never get to know that until they are married ' assuming they ticked out premarital s.ex now', isn't it just obvious that your claim of long courtship clarifying compatibility issues has now been effectively defeated ?

A christian couple are supposed to come to the marriage bed undefiled (unfortunately we do not all come these days as virgins but we thank God for 'old things passing away and all things becoming new' ). Once joined together, they ought to guide each other and teach each other how to satisfy each other. It is important that they are not ashamed or shy to discuss sekzual matters between themselves, and explore each others bodies, seeking to give pleasure to each other. A couple will get the best sekz if they are willing to teach and please their partner. There is no need to indulge in serial fornication under the guise of finding a sekzually compatible mate. There is also no need to look outside the marriage bed for great sekz.
