well there is no big deal about somebody being left-handed. i knew of a class mate of mine while at school who was left-handed but was a dullard. moreso, left handed leaders are just 2% of the total number leaders worldwide. only 8% of American presidents were left handed |

some people are hated for no reason - people just hate Akala for no reason - what did the governors before him achieve? (Ishola, Lam Adeshina, Ladoja etc) - let's give the man some credit ![]() |

ever since he died a year ago, i have observed with interest, the way people have been trying to celebrate him and make him out as nigeria's tupac. now while i'm not trying to say his death was a good thing, here was a guy who couldn't manage success and allowed the little success he made to get into his head unlike tupac who was at the apex of his game when he died. He was warned about living a wayward lifestyle, and he ignored the advice and chose to live a reckless lifestyle which apparently shortened his life-span. Here was a guy who wasn't all that popular while he was alive (he was just rising up and not there yet) and not all that talented in my own opinion. so what's the big deal and why try to make him out as though he was a kind of iconic figure - tupac, biggie, john lennon, and elvis and michael jackson were all icons but dagrin? nah! i don't see what all the fuss is ![]() |
i can understand people calling a general overseer 'daddy' but calling a campus fellowship leader 'daddy'? that's beyond my imagination |
Oyo PDP appeals Ajimobi’s victory From YINKA FABOWALE and GBENGA ADESUYI, Ibadan. Thursday, May 19, 2011 More Stories on This Section Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala and the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did a volte-face on the just concluded governorship election in the state won by Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Senator Ajibola Ajimobi. They appealed his victory. The governor had in the wake of the electoral verdict congratulated Ajimobi, but in what appears a 360 degrees turn, Dotun Oyelade, special assistant to Alao-Akala on Public Communications, in a statement last night said the PDP had challenged Ajimobi’s election. Details of the legal processes and the lawyers handling the case were not immediately available as phones calls made to Oyelade were unanswered but Daily Sun learnt that relevant papers were filed at the state election petition on Tuesday. Oyelade in the statement said although his boss congratulated Ajimobi over his victory at the April poll, he could not stop the party from going to court if it was so convinced to do so. The governor-elect, who contested under the banner of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), was declared winner of the election after polling a total votes of 420, 852 to beat Alao-Akala, the incumbent, to the second position with 387, 132 votes. Accepting defeat in a letter he wrote to Ajimobi, Alao-Akala noted that all the hot verbal exchanges that characterized the campaign period were mere political statements and should not be taken personal by the winner. According to Oyelade, the party decided to challenge the victory because of the overwhelming evidence at its disposal to prove that the election was not as credible as it should be. “While it is true that Governor Akala congratulated Senator Ajimobi after the April election and cited the need to reduce tension and actively support the growth of our fledgling democracy as his reason for his public remark, the issue must not be confused with the determination of the party to challenge his victory at the tribunal, which it has done yesterday. “Governor Akala is not in a position to stop the decision of the party to contest the result in the face of more daunting evidences which it may have in its possession. It will be recalled that Senator Ajimobi and the ANPP, which he represented in 2007, both separately went to the tribunal at the time, which means that the law recognizes each as a legal entity. “Governor Akala will support any move to strengthen our democracy and expand the frontiers of the rule of law,” the statement said. |
i feel this is another case of inferiority complex on the part of we africans - i think hair plaiting is quite lovely and looks good on ladies and that was what our fore-fathers, (or should i say fore-mothers? ) did and they felt beautiful with it - how come nowadays our women don't feel complete if they haven't fixed their hair ? ![]()

Headlines. | Follow comments: RSS 2.0. | Both comments and pings are currently closed. | Contrary to the news making the rounds that Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji and Dapo Oyebanjo a.k.a. D’banj are getting married, P.M. Entertainment can reveal that the marriage rumour is a ruse. Investigations revealed that D’banj’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oyebanjo, his producer, Don Jazzy and Sunday Are, his manager, are not aware of the so-called wedding plan reported by a weekly soft sell magazine. P.M. Entertainment learnt that the hip hop singer who was in London at that time, attended Genevieve’s birthday party as a guest and not as a would-be husband or lover. A source close to D’banj’s family told P.M. Entertainment that he is yet to present the star actress to them according to the Yoruba tradition, wondering how he will pick a wedding date without the family’s consent and that of his best pal and business associate, Don Jazzy. Speaking about the wedding plan, D’banj’s manager, Sunday Are, said: “although I cannot chose a wife for my son or husband for my daughter, Dapo and Genevieve are adults, they can get married if they wish. But as far as I’m concerned, I have not been briefed about such plans. All I know is that D’banj attended Genevieve’s birthday party held in London on 3 May, 2011 as a friend.” All attempts to get the artiste’s comments on the issue were to no avail, but in a recent interview with a soft sell magazine, Genevieve denied dating D’banj. She acknowledged the fact that both of them are friends, but added that it is just on a platonic level. |

Jonathan’s convoy stoned in Uganda By Onche Odeh Head Education & Science Reports emanating from Uganda have revealed that Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, was on Thursday pelted with stones by supporters of Uganda’s main opposition leader, Kizza Besigye, on his way from Kampala for a dinner in Entebbe. Accounts from Uganda disclosed that the incident occurred while Jonathan and the Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni, were on their way from Kampala to Entebbe for a buffet after Museveni’s swearing in, held in Kampala, the Ugandan capital. Jonathan was in Uganda to honour Museveni, who was on Thursday sworn in for a fourth term in office. Daily Independent gathered from sources in Uganda that the incident was neither directed at Jonathan nor Museveni, but the result of a scuffle that ensued between the police and Besigye’s supporters along the Entebbe-Kampala road. According to one of such accounts, Jonathan ran into the opposition leader’s supporters who had gathered in large numbers to welcome Besigye on his way back to Uganda from Nairobi, Kenya, where he went to receive medical attention via Entebbe, where the country’s international airport is located. Trouble, we hear started when Besigye could not make the Entebbe-Kampala trip within the one hour he was given to make way for visiting dignitaries, who were due to dine with Museveni in his Entebbe residence. According to the source, “The crowd of supporters just would not let Besigye go as they turned out in large numbers to welcome him home, hence the delay he encountered at Entebbe.” It was in an attempt to disperse the crowd for Jonathan and Museveni to wade through that, it was learnt the supporters started throwing stones at the police. One of the policemen was reportedly injured, which gave the others a reason to spray tear-gas to control the crowd. At this point, it was gathered, Jonathan and Museveni’s convoy arrived. The supporters of the opposition leader, however, continued pelting stones on the police in anger, which was extended to the convoys of Museveni and Jonathan. Reports, however, have it that the situation was quelled afterwards. Jonathan was one of nine African heads of state that attended Museveni’s inauguration. Those in attendance included Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia. Museveni is one of Africa’s longest-serving presidents along with Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. Meanwhile Besigye was unrepentant as he reportedly described Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) government as a regime in panic. Besigye who addressed journalists in Nairobi denounced President Museveni inauguration on Thursday. He, however, said “ I will continue to participate in all protests , provided they are peaceful until desired goals are achieved.” Views:113 |

the poster is silly! just because a lady falls for a guy on the web does not mean she fell cheaply. internet dating has come to stay and facebook is just another way of meeting a person, just like meeting someone in the supermarket - so if a lady met a man in the supermarket, would u say, she fell "cheaply"? ![]() |

i think like somebody rightly pointed out on this thread, there is no point in following a tradition just for the sake of doing so. At the end of the day it is your wedding and as such, whatever will make the two of you happy, you go ahead and do it ![]() |

Home | Sports | Pele: I was better than both Ronaldo, Messi Pele: I was better than both Ronaldo, Messi By our reporter 15 hours 43 minutes ago Font size: Legendary striker Pele believes he is still the greatest footballer of all time, despite the emergence of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Santos player scored an amazing 1,281 goals in 1363 career appearances spanning over 23 years. Pele won his first World Cup with Brazil in 1958 at the tender age of 17, and went on to pick up a further two World titles with the South American nation. In recent years, Messi and Ronaldo have lit up the footballing world with their talent on the pitch but Pele believes neither are a patch on himself. "For me Pele is the best. Nobody has done more than Pele. He's the only player to be World Champion at 17, winning three World Cups and score over 1,208 goals," the former player told American reporters during an event to mark the return of the New York Cosmos to MLS. Pele is currently serving as the honorary president for the revived New York Cosmos, a club he played for between 1975-77 at the end of his magical career. |

people should really think before passing comments - there are some things to note here - the fact that this lady bears a Nigerian name does not automatically make her a Nigerian - she may be a Briton with a Nigerian heritage - secondly, blaming her for stalking is equally wrong. I saw the clips on TV and she does not look like a retard to me. There must have been something between her and Rio which he is not disclosing to the public. ![]() |
