“Not minding other interests by legal practitioners to represent Baba Suwe in suing the government and the anti-narcotics agency over his ordeal, in the event that he is innocent, we strongly believe that such information from publishers of factual publication like ours could interest the members of the public,” Hajia Yushau said.

She added that “the offer was not in any way to support drug trafficking, but in solidarity with the comedian for his travails and unnecessary detention for many days without taking him to court.”

Falana blasts NDLEA
Meanwhile, a Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, has condemned NDLEA’s continued detention of Baba Suwe, urging it to stop experimenting with human freedom as a result of its defective machines.

Falana, who spoke at the 25th anniversary of the death of founding editor-in chief of Newswatch magazine, Mr. Dele Giwa, said: ”I have never in any part of the world seen where an agency will be experimenting with human beings, saying that they want Baba Suwe to excrete the hard drugs that their machine tested him to have ingested, denying him of his freedom for more than 24 hours just because their machines are defective.”

Mean time, Baba Suwe has dragged NDLEA, before an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, challenging his continued detention by the anti-drug agency.

Vanguard was unable to confirm if the lawyer, Mr. Kunle Adegoke, had the consent of Baba Suwe to institute the suit, in which he is claiming N1billion as damage for his illegal and unconstitutional violation of his fundamental human rights.

Baba Suwe is praying the court to declare his arrest and continued detention since October 13, on suspicion of drug trafficking, a gross violation of his fundamental rights, as guaranteed under Sections 34 and 35 of the 1999 Constitution.

He is seeking:
* A declaration that the continued incarceration of the applicant is contrary to the provisions of Articles 4, 5 and 6 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and hence unlawful, ultra vires, respondent, null and void.

* An order immediately releasing the applicant from unlawful detention in which he is being held at the pleasure of the respondent.

* Compensation in the sum of N100m against the respondents to be paid to the applicant for the aforesaid illegal and unconstitutional violation of his fundamental rights by the respondent.[/b]

HEre is my point, i believe Baba suwe is  serious  drug pusher because i have  friends that work for him. Most of the time Baba suwe himself dont normally carry the stuff instead he has boys that go before him with the drug. I believe some Baba suwe enermies must have tipped the Ndlea about him  going to Paris with drugs  but unfortunately he did not carry the said drugs on that day. because of the tipped off the Ndlea now use the scanner as an excuse to arrest him base on the information they have without any evidence. Now  it has brought shame on them and they are now  looking for away to cover up the whole saga that is why they are buying time. I can assure you that the  scanner  never detected any drugs or substance on Babasuwe they are just acting on information which turn out to be false.
Let me also assure you that no money has changed hand as some people are insinuating on here,because the Ndlea will not have come out and make any press released at all if money has changed hand and you would not have even heard anything about it. Paris is the hottest destination  for drugs in  europe right now and Babasuwe happen to be going there makes him  an  easy  target,but  someone needs to know that b4 this people embark on this  sort of journey there are some process involve , they have  herbalist,alfa and prophet working for them to  determine if they should go or not and if its good  to carry drugs or not. Cocaine: Baba Suwe Arrested At Airport  Nollywood comic actor, Alhaji King Babatunde Ayinla Nurudeen Olasunkanmi Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with substances suspected to be hard drugs concealed in his stomach


•Baba Suwe now in NDLEA custody.
Baba Suwe was apprehended last night at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, by NDLEA officials as he attempted to board an Air France flight to Paris, France.

According to NDLEA sources, he was on his way to Paris to act as a master of ceremony in a naming ceremony of an Air France staff scheduled for Saturday.

The Air France staff (name withheld) has also been arrested, according to NDLEA sources.

Baba Suwe went through the scanning machine at the airport and substances suspected to be drugs were seen hidden in his stomach, NDLEA sources said this morning.

He is now being detained at the NDLEA office at the airport.

Sources said he is under observation pending the time he will start excreting the drugs.

After he was arrested, sources said, he denied that he swallowed the drugs, until he went through the scanner. He could not however explain the white substances seen in his stomach.

Baba Suwe is a very successful and popular Yoruba actor in Nollywood, famous for his comedy roles in Yoruba movies.

He has worked with everybody in the industry.

Baba Suwe, was born on 22 August 1958. He speaks fluent English.

In January 2005, he received an award from the African Artists and Entertainers Afro-Hollywood Award in New York which is like the African Grammy.

His favourite type of music and musicians are reggae music – Bob Marley, Yellowman and classic Stevie Wonder.

His favourite international actors are Eddie Murphy and Mr Bean.

Mr. Justin Olugbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State who was taken into custody in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) five days ago, has gone on hunger strike, his lawyers claimed.

A statement issued today by Yemi Oke, counsel to Mr. Daniel, said the former governor was being detained at the EFCC facility “under unbearable conditions” and subjected to “gruesome interrogations” by operatives of the commission.

“Under normal circumstances, Otunba Daniel should have been arraigned in court since he has spent more than the required period specified by law in detention,” the statement said.  “But at the time of issuing this statement, he has not been arraigned in court and no charge has been preferred against him. Yet he is being detained and his fundamental human rights curtailed for no just cause. Only his wife is allowed access to him.”




Mr. Daniel’s lawyers, the statement said, this morning served the EFCC with court processes seeking to enforce the detainee’s fundamental human rights, but that has been ignored by the agency.  As a result of the ‘worsening’ condition under which he is being held, as well as the curtailment of his fundamental rights, the former governor has now declined food and medication.

“It is noteworthy to point out that one of Otunba Daniel’s interrogators, in an unguarded moment, blurted out that the case against him would not have gotten to this level if he had begged a former president of the country whom he said was behind Otunba Daniel’s travails,” the statement said.  “We therefore call on all men and women of goodwill to prevail on the EFCC to allow the rule of law to prevail by either releasing the former governor or charge him to court. These are the only two options known to law.”

The former governor and former President Olusegun Obasanjo had a major public disagreement within the People’s Democratic Party ahead of the April 2011 elections, and Obasanjo is known to be one of the signatories of the EFCC petition against Mr. Daniel.

Cold hands of death early morning of Sunday snatched away one of the wives of Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, Chief Mrs. Regina Omobonike Onigbinde, at their Felele, Ibadan residence.

The deceased, aged 69 passes away at exactly 7:30 am Sunday morning after a protracted illness. Scores of symphatisers mostly from football family in Ibadan have continued to throng the home of the former national coah  number one, Onigbinde crescent, Felele-Rab, Ibadan to sympathize with the football technocrats.

Chief Mrs. Omobonike survived by Mr. Gbenga Onigbinde, Mrs. Bolade Adesuyi, Mr. Adeoye Onigbinde, Mrs. Seyi Odelola and Kunle Onigbinde.

Burial arrangement according to the FIFA/CAF Technical Instructor who was just returning home that Sunday morning from CAF’s Coaches Training Course held in Abuja will this week be announced.

A Chief Magistrate court sitting in Bauchi has sentenced a man to four years imprisonment for seducing a married woman.
The court presided over by Chief Magistrate, Isa Mohammed convicted Attahiru Umar Sade, a bachelor.
The husband of the woman Suleiman Bello through his lawyers, UB Darazo, Auwal Ibrahim and Jibrin Sa’id Jibrin filed a direct criminal complaint before the court against the accused.

Bello alleged that sometimes in July 2010, Umar Sade started wooing his wife Mars Munira Mohammed in an unlawful way suggestive of his intention for a love relationship and she reported the matter to him.
Bello told the court that when he heard the complaint, he approached the man and warned him to desist from any kind of interaction with his wife, and moved his wife from their former house at Danjuma Goje to Federal Low cost in order to blocked him from her.

He said in spite of the preventive measure, the accused went out of his way, got her mobile phone number and put calls to her on Monday September 26, 2011.
Bello said the accused sent to his wife via text message a recharge card Zain for N500 made up of these numbers 6994686556722738 to his wife, and the following day September 27, 2011, he lodged a complaint at Dutsen Tanshi Police station.
He said the accused put two calls to his wife and Police arrested the man at the scene of the conversation with his wife asking her if her husband was at home, later he was released on bail.

Counsels to the complainant told the court that the accused is suspected to have committed the offences of criminal trespass, and enticing a married woman contrary to section 342, 344, and 389 and punishable under section 348, 355, and 389 of the penal code laws.
When asked by the presiding judge yesterday, the accused pleaded guilty to all the charges and appeal for leniency from the court.
In his judgment, the presiding Judge, Chief Magistrate, Isa Mohammed sentenced the accused to six months in prison or pay a fine of N5,000 on first count charge, on the second count charged he sentenced him to one year in prison or pay a fine of N10,000 on the third count charged he was sentenced to two years in prison or pay a fine of 15,000 and ordered him to pay the sum of N50,000 as compensation to the complainant or to spend six months in prison.

this is the way i see it, both of you have valid points - she has a point, because if you cannot put her picture on her page, it may appear as though you are not proud of her or it may appear as if you are planning to double date. I can see your own point of view too since you may end up breaking with her so you don't want people to start seeing you like a playboy who keeps changing girls - the remedy to the situation is this, put her picture on your page (in order to reassure her) but don't tag her name to it or don't mention the relationship between you two on your page - that way, nobody knows what's going on between you two and you are covered

POWER OF THE BEHOLDER

From the beginning of time it has been the norm that men are meant to woo the lady and make the 'first move' when it comes to dating so when we say 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' it is assumed that the man is the beholder but let's face it, there is no rule that says the beholder has to be the man so this idea is based on nothing more than pure traditional sentiments.If the notion that men are created to be active, while women are meant to be passive is true, how come we now have female presidents and ladies holding positions of power? Shall we conclude that these women who have risen to the very top are exceptional or are simply going against the norm? It's doubtful that this is the case.

While the world is changing and the barriers between the male and female gender is narrowing by the day, most ladies particularly those of black descent still prefer to hide behind tradition and choose to wait for a man to come to them rather than taking the bull by the horn. The excuse which these ladies come up with is that revealing your romantic interest in a man to him will "cheapen" them.This argument seems flawed when analysed. Let's look at it from this angle. Someone approaches a full frown woman and says 'you are a man!' Unless she has some medical deficiencies which are unseen, she would immediately correct the person by saying 'sorry I'm female'. She does not need anybody to tell her what her gender is since she is fully aware what her gender is having spent all her life living as a woman. It does not matter what anybody thinks, she knows who she is. The same goes for principle can be applied to dating. Why must it matter so much to you what the man thinks of you? If you know within yourself that you are not cheap, what anybody thinks about you is irrelevant but this writer feels such excuses are used by insecure ladies to cover up their lack of confidence since they feel they lack what it takes to ask a man out.

Waiting to be wooed gives the woman power since she is the one who then has to decide whether to accept the proposal or not. But in playing the waiting game has its disadvantage as well since by waiting to be wooed, the woman is restricting herself and giving all the control to the beholder, time and chance. Rather than making things happen, she is waiting for things to happen. She's not in control of the situation but is at the mercy of situation.

Let's look at the example of Sister Shade and Bro Tunde (both fictitious characters). Sister Shade is a single sister attending a church in her neighbourhood. There are 25 single guys and 25 single ladies in this church. Out of the 25 single ladies, 10 are in relationships. Sister Shade is unattached and fancies a particular Bro Tunde in the church who happens to be unattached too. But she is waiting and praying patiently for God to lead brother Tunde to her. She feels shy about making her intentions known to Brother Tunde. What are the chances of Brother Tunde taking notice of her and asking her out? Assuming Bro Tunde is looking for his spouse within the church alone, sister Shade's chances are 1/15 or 6%. Her chances of being noticed are even slimmer if Bro Tunde is not restricting his search to church confines alone. But Shade can turn a 6% situation to a 50% situation if she decides to become pro-active and make the effort to gain Tunde's attention.You may say 'But Bro Tunde is not the only brother in church!'. Well, that's true but what are the chances of sister Shade being noticed by any of the 24 remaining church brothers? Again it's 1/15. Remember sister Shade is "competing" with 14 other ladies who might even be more attractive than her.

So when people say there are more single ladies out there than men, here lies the answer.
