my widow's mite on this issue is, when a lady cannot say sorry, it's best to forget such a lady - if she doesn not change, divorce might be the only solution at hand. it's hard to see how a marriage can work if one party refuses to say sorry - what will inevitably happen is that if one party fails to acknowledge wrong doing, he/she will continue doing wrong since they haven't done anything wrong in their own estimation, and it would get to a stage where the person who is being offended would find it hard to cope any longer - it's easy to say to a man, be patient, but how much patience can a mere mortal have if the offender is niot willing to change ? The word 'sorry' is far more important in a relationship than we human beings tend to acknowledge - when i'm in a relationship and i begin to realise the other party is unwilling to apologise, i quickly make my exit. It's no use saying, someone can apologise through action rather than words - inability to apologise through words of mouth is nothing other than pride and a ploy to avoid acknowledging wrong doing ![]() |

Man fined after returning more than £10,000 in cash tweet117Print, James Andrews, 12:33, Friday 1 July 2011 You'd think that finding more than £10,000 in cash, in a bag next to a cash machine, and returning it to its rightful owners would be applauded. But for one man, all that it resulted in was a £300 fine. Robert Adams, 54, saw the bag full of money next to a cash machine with Chase Bank's logo on the side. Instead of taking advantage, the resident of Arlington Heights, Illinois, returned it to the bank in question. But he made a mistake, by giving police false information about exactly where he found it. Adams found the large sum of cash on the night of 6 June while using an ATM inside the shop Walgreens. He had planned to meet a woman for a date, but when she failed to show decided to buy a drink before heading home. Instead of handing in the money in the area where he found it, Adams took it to a police station nearer to his home where he said he felt more comfortable speaking to local police in familiar surroundings. "I didn't want to go back into Walgreens, so I thought I would drive to the Chase Bank near my house and return it," he told the Southtown Star in the US. But thinking it would result in fewer questions, Adams told the bank — and the police — that he'd found the money near his home not in the shop. The error cost him $500 (£312). Of course, leaving that sort of cash just lying about is a concern for any bank. So they, the security firm that lost the money and the police started to look into it. What they discovered was that Adams had lied about where he found the cash. He was captured on CCTV picking up the money, leaving the shop and getting into his car, and then charged with lying in a police report — resulting in his fine. "I accept the fine. I'm very sorry about this whole thing," Adams told the Chicago Tribune. He was never offered a reward for returning the cash. |
this is a topic that has been over-flogged on this site - it depends on how emphatic the no is. If she says the 'no' in a very angry/aggresive manner, 90% chance is she means it so don't bother going back but if the 'no' was said in a friendly manner, or maybe she was smiling when she said it then there is a 60-70% chance she may change to 'yes' if you are persistent ![]() |
Governor of Ogun State, Sen. Ibikunle Omolaja Amosun, is yet to move into the Government House in Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta almost a month after he was sworn in. He is presently housed at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara. The story is the same at the Government Office at the Oke-Mosan Secretariat in Abeokuta. Amosun’s refusal to move into the office vacated by his predecessor, Gbenga Daniel, is occasioned by the belief that the place needs sanctification. He is currently operating from the office of Head of Service, (HOS), Iyabo Odulate. Investigations by Saturday Independent revealed that the governor has been advised not to move into either the Government House or Governor’s Office until ongoing spiritual cleansings, which started days after his inauguration are completed. Spiritualists from the Celestial Church of Christ, Cherubim and Seraphim and Muslim clerics have become regular faces at both places. A source close to the governor revealed that he is not in a hurry to move into the office or house “until all necessary spiritual cleansings are completed.” Checks at the Oke-Igbein Government House, the official residence of the governor, revealed that the governor has not visited the place let alone move in there since May 29, when he was sworn in. But the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), on which platform Amosun was elected alleged that officials of the past administration removed most items within the sprawling edifice. Similarly, the House of Assembly quarters, along the Presidential Boulevard in Abeokuta was a shadow of itself when Saturday Independent visited on Friday, a development that has forced the lawmakers to resort to self-help. Many members of the 26-man Assembly now operate from Richton Hotels and Suites, Ibara Housing Estate. However, governor’s Senior Special Adviser, Media and Communication, Funmi Wakama said “His Excellency should move into his office very soon, the reason being that the office is currently under renovation.” |
Ruggedman, 9ice Fight Again The acrimony between two leading musicians, Michael Ugochukwu, a.k.a Ruggedman and Akande Abolore also known as 9ice, has taken a turn for the worse, with Ruggedman boasting that “9ice is my boy. He met his wife through me.” 9ice’s estranged wife, Toni Payne, is at the centre of the strained relationship between the erstwhile best friends. Just as the acrimony between Ruggedman and 9ice was ebbing, the former again stirred the hornet’s nest in a new Yomba TV programme called Gbamu Gbanu. Speaking in Yoruba language on a television programme Gbamu Gbamu, which will hit the screens on African Magic Yoruba on DSTV by 1 July 2011, Ruggedman said that 9ice had his first major break when he brought him on stage at a Nigerian Breweries show held at Mothelan’, Opebi, Ikeja. about six years ago. He said that at the show, he introduced Toni Pyne to him and that was how they started, adding, “I don’t know that it is a crime to introduce someone to a woman. I wouldn’t have done that.” Ruggedy Baba, as Ruggedman is also called by friends and fans, said when the story was making the rounds, he was waiting for 9ice to debunk it and since he failed to do so, he decided to state his own side, declaring, “he is a boy I trained by taking him to shows and that was what gave birth to the song, Opomulero.” Gbenga Adeyinka, the brain behind the television programme, a top comedian and master of ceremonies, said Gbamu Gbamu, which has different segments like jokes, mock news and interviews, among others, is a way of bringing out his talent to show that he can also present a Yoruba programme. He added that top comedians like Ali Baba, Omo Baba, Tee A and others will feature in the weekly programme. |

Nigerian Obinna Nsofor joins Russia's Lokomotiv Moscow Page last updated at 12:49 GMT, Sunday, 19 June 2011 13:49 UK E-mail this to a friend Printable version By Oluwashina Okeleji BBC Sport, Lagos The Super Eagle has signed a four-year deal with Lokomotiv Moscow Nigeria striker Victor Obinna Nsofor has joined Russia's Lokomotiv Moscow from Italian giants Inter Milan. The 24-year-old signed a four-year contract on Saturday for an undisclosed fee with the top flight side. The Super Eagle played on loan at relegated Premier League side West Ham last season, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances for the Hammers. "Many clubs were reportedly interested but only Lokomotiv Moscow came with a concrete offer," Nsofor told BBC Sport. The forward endured a mixed season in England, suffering relegation with a side for whom he scored five goals in five days in January and February following an FA Cup hat-trick against Nottingham Forest. "I have played in Italy, Spain and England but Russia provides a different challenge and I am totally braced for it. "The life of a footballer comes with challenges every day - I see this as another opportunity to experience a different country and league." The highly-regarded Nsofor, who turned 24 in March, has already been capped 38 times, scoring eight goals, and he appeared twice for his country at the 2010 World Cup. The Nigeria international spent three seasons at Chievo Verona before joining Inter Milan in the summer of 2008. He played just a season with the Italian champions before loan spells at Spanish side Malaga and West Ham United. He became a free agent this month and says he is delighted to have completed the move to a club that once paraded his compatriot, West Bromwich Albion forward Osaze Odemwingie. "There is no point dreaming or waiting for speculations to become a reality, so once Lokomotiv spoke with my representatives - we had to listen," said Nsofor. "The club is ambitious, they have a great plan and I want to be a part of the success story. "I will give my best and hopefully that will compliment the efforts of others to make it a successful time in Russia and Europe." Having begun his career with Nigerian clubs Plateau United, Kwara United and Enyimba, Obinna moved to Italian side AC Chievo Verona on a five-year contract in 2005. He has played for Nigeria at under-20, Olympic and senior level, winning the 2008 Olympic football silver medal. Lokomotiv Moscow have won the Russian Premier League twice in the last decade - with triumphs in both 2002 and 2004. Midway through the current Russian season, the club stands sixth in the standings - with their next league fixture coming against bitter city rivals, and league leaders, CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. However, Nsofor will only be available to play from 1 July as his Inter Milan contract does not officially end until 30 June. |
Vanity: Adefarasin Declares Self Billionaire What the Bible describes as vanity upon vanity is an apt description of the utterances of Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House On The Rock Church yesterday. Pastor Paul Adefarasin “I am a billionaire and there is nothing anybody can do about it,” Pastor Adefarasin boasted yesterday as he preached in an N8.5 million a day auditorium at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. “I have coached many billionaires and you know, the pastor of billionaires is a billionaire,” Adefarasin who was not included among the five richest pastors in Nigeria by a blogger with Forbes, the influential American magazine that keeps a tab on the world’s rich. The Forbes blogger, Mfonobong Nsehe, had said that after intense research, he established that the official wealth of Bishop David Oyedepo, Chris Oyakhilome, TB Joshua, Matthew Ashimolowo and Chris Okotie, Nigeria’s five richest pastors, is between N31 and 37 billion. But, TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations has denied the report, saying that he does not even keep a bank account and cannot save billions in the bank while millions are going hungry. “The preacher of billionaire can only be a billionaire because a monkey cannot give birth to a goat and a goat cannot follow a baboon,” Adefarasin, who is completing a multi-billion naira church in Lekki, said as he adjusted his cute Italian suit. “I am a preacher. I am a motivational speaker. I am a TV personality. I am a life coach. You can criticise me or slander me in the pages of newspapers but the blessings are in me and there is nothing anyone can do about it,” he said. Adefarasin, who preached on Phillipians 2:6-14 with the theme ‘Work It Out’, said that when he was still a drug addict in Miami, United States, with a low self esteem, he never imagined that he could financially achieve so much for himself and the ministry. “I was a nobody. I had a low self esteem but God did it for me. If God can make it for me, he can make it for you,” Adefarasin said amidst boisterous ovations. To become a billionaire, Christians must simply imagine it, ask and realise that money, blessing and favour are already in them. All they need is to ‘work out’ what ‘God has already worked in’. “Some of you do not see that you are already billionaires but there is a difference between to create and to unveil. God will simply unveil your billions to you as he did to me,” he said to an elated and expectant congregation |
Governor Ajimobi accused of stealing N15 million from Access Bank Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State Governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State allegedly pocketed over N15 Million erroneously credited to his Access Bank account in 2007 and has refused to pay back after the bank has made repeated efforts to recover the money, sources told Pointblanknews.com Instead, the newly elected Governor of Oyo State has been using the Police to harass and intimidate staffers of Access Bank in the matter that is currently before the Ibadan High Court over what the bank described as “fraudulent withdrawal of monies mistakenly deposited in his account.” The staffers of the bank in a suit filed at state high court, with Suit No. M/60/10 in a matter of an application for an order for the reinforcement of the applicants fundamental rights in Motion on Notice, sought to enforce their fundamental rights, having been arrested and detained by the police on an allegation brought against them by the governor that they fraudulently deducted the sum of N15 million from his account in the bank. The statement of fact relied upon by the applicant, it was gathered, revealed that sometimes in the year 2007, the first respondent (the governor) placed the sum of N15,432,860.01 in a fixed deposit in the bank for a period of one month with the instruction that the said amount be paid into his current account upon maturity. advertisement It was also gathered that the said investment matured on 20th February, 2007 and the governor’s account was credited with the sum of N15,432,860.01. The banking process of the governor, it was also learnt, was fully automated while postings of funds into his accounts were done by the computer. Unfortunately, the system at that time was experiencing a disruption in its operation and consequently, the system initially credited the governor’s current account on 20th February 2007 and it again credited the same account with exactly the same amount on 21st February, 2007 which was the next day. After the total sum of N30,865,720.02 was credited into the account of the governor instead of N15,432.860.01, the governor withdrew and utilised the additional sum of N15,432,860.01 even though he was aware it did not belong to him. The bank was said not to have discovered the double credit until sometimes in October 2008, when the auditors came to audit the account of the bank. They swiftly wrote to the governor on October 7, 2008 notifying him of the duplication of credit liquidation into his account. According to the letter, which was signed by the top management staff of the bank and handed to the governor, “We regret to inform you of an erroneous credit into your account domiciled with our bank on the 21st February 2007. On the said date, your matured investment in commercial paper in the sum of N15,432,860.01 was erroneously credited into your account for the second time apart from the same amount credited to the account the same day. In the light of the above, we humbly request that you provide us with a repayment plan of this fund which was recently discovered by bank examiners.” It was gathered that rather than refund the N15 million in question, the governor, referred the bank to his lawyers, alleging that his account was being manipulated by the officers of the bank. Worried that the bank could institute a legal suit against him, he was said to have written the bank on October 14, 2009 alleging fraudulent manipulation of his account with the bank. According to the letter, “This is to confirm my meeting of Tuesday October 13, 2009 with your General Manager, South West. I am disturbed by the debit alert of 13-10-09 confirming that my account was debited with the sum of N15,432,860.01. On further enquiry, I was told that your bank mistakenly credited same amount twice in February, 2007. I have since concluded three subsequent investments totalling 65 million during the same period and operated the account till November 2008 with a credit balance of N237,548.15 and no mention of any duplicated credit, neither was it reflected in my account balance. “Based on several visitations by your staff, the account was re-activated in October 2009 with a credit balance of N237,548.15 and a cheque of N2.5 million and a bank draft of N25 million. When I re-activated the account, there was no debit balance on the account. Surprisingly, my account was unilaterally debited with N15,432,860.01 after about 2 (sic) years of statement of account reflecting credit balances and no duplicated credit.” The bank’s reply to the governor’s submission that his account was being manipulated by the bank and signed by top management staff and dated October 14, 2009 stated that “We refer to your letter dated 14, October, 2009 on the above subject matter and we are by this letter sir, reminding you of our two previous correspondences with respect to duplication of credit to you. Please, find attached the acknowledgement copies and the statement of account reflecting same. One of our officers from the head office also informed that he had a discussion with you on the issue during which you acknowledged receipt of the said letters and also informed that you have refered the case to your legal adviser. “As already communicated in the two letters, the bank erroneously credited your account domiciled with our bank on 21 February, 2007 with the sum of N15,432,860.1 which had already been credited into the same account in the precious day. “Sir, we humbly state that as an ethical organisation, we would not do anything unprofessional on our customers’ account. Our not passing the debt entry into your account was to guide against debit interest accruals which would have increased the outstanding balance greatly.” The Governor through his counsel, wrote to the state police command asking that the case be investigated. Three bank officials were summoned by the legal department of State CID, where they made their statements on oath. The statement by one of them read thus, “I received a mail from the Treasury Unit of my bank notifying me of a double credit into the account of a customer. We were reliably informed in the mail that the customer’s investment in the bank had matured on the 20th February, 2007, but the account of the customer had been credited twice, that was on 20th February, 2007 and again on the 21st February, 2007. I was instructed to write a formal letter to the customer notifying him of the error made by the bank and to ask him to inform us of how and when he would repay the money since he had withdrawn everything. The amount credited his account was N15,432,860.1 on the 20th February, 2007 and the same amount credited on the 21st February, 2007 next day.” “I wrote a formal letter to the customer notifying him and attached his account statements showing these double credits and went to his house. When I got to his house, his personal assistant said he had gone out and asked me to call him. I called him on his mobile and informed him that I had a letter for him. He said I should leave the letter with his P.A. and that he would see it. I made the P.A. to sign an acknowledgement copy for the letter and account statement.” He stated further that, “In December 2008, I was given a letter by my boss from the Treasury Unit of my bank to deliver to the customer. Again, he was not at home. His P.A. called him and he asked me on phone what I came to do. I told him I was given another letter to give to him. He then asked if my bank had not been contacted by his lawyer and I said I was not aware. He told me to drop the letter with his P.A. who also signed the acknowledgement letter.” According to him, in October 2009, the customer gave a staff of the bank a cheque to pay into his account and on the 13th October, 2009, the account of the customer was debited with the sum of N15,432,860.1 by the Treasury Unit of his head office. The said money was paid in by his P.A. Corroborating the above statement, another bank staff, who was also arrested on the order of the governor, stated that, “I was in my office on February 1, 2010, when three police officers from the state headquarters and a lawyer to our customer, said I was under arrest on a case brought against me and two others by the customer. The case was on N15 million recovered from the account of our customer sometimes in October 2009, under the condition that the customer was owing the bank on a transaction that dates back to 2007 on which the customer had been informed repeatedly to refund the money which he refused. I heard he was erroneously credited, and had spent the money and was unable to refund it until the money was recouped in this account on the said date the money was erroneously credited to his account in 2007.” Another staff also had this to say: “He had an investment of fixed deposit in the bank, and when the investment matured, the system mistakenly credited him twice. This error was noticed by the bank during audit period by the head office. This, I heard, was communicated to the customer both verbally and in writing. Later in 2009, I understand that he paid some money into the account and our Treasury Unit deducted the money due to the bank. A senior management team was dispatched from the head office to further explain the situation to him. We were informed by the executive management that he agreed that he owed the bank, but requested that he should be allowed to pay over a period of 18 months, a request which the bank declined.” The suit, dated 5th February, 2010, is still pending in the State High Court. http://www.pointblanknews.com/News/os5134.html |

OBJ gate-crashes into Amosun’s church service By Moshood Adebayo, Abeokuta Monday, June 6, 2011 Elder statesman and former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday made a surprise appearance at a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church, Ake, Abeokuta to mark the assumption of office of Governor Ibikunle Amosum Obasanjo, whom Daily Sun learnt was not invited officially for the event, said he came to rejoice with the governor. Justifying his presence, Obasanjo said: “As a father to all Nigerians and being the former head of state and president of Nigeria, and as an Owu, Abeokuta man, it is my responsibility to grace the occasion. “Having been Nigeria head of state and president, all Nigerians are my sons and all Nigerians are my daughters but this Governor, (Senator Amosun) having been by accident of birth to have been born where I was born, so in a way he is my son just like all other Nigerians are my sons,” he stated. Obasanjo, whose entry into the church caused a stir among the congregation later fielded questions from journalists after the service and tasked Amosun on good governance. He advised him to work and pray hard for a successful administration and do the best for the people of the state. Shortly after the service, the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman and the governor met behind closed door for about 25 minutes at the former’s Hill Top residence in Abeokuta. Although the details of the meeting were not made public, sources close to the meeting hinted that the duo expressed concerns about how to restore peace and security in the state. Earlier, during the service, Amosun had cautioned traditional rulers and the state elders not to do anything that could amount to a breach of laws, adding that laws, once made, anybody and everybody, whether rich or poor must respect it. He further stated that his administration would not condone illegalities from any quarters, but assured the traditional rulers and the state elders of cordial relationship and respect if only they play ball with the laid down rules and regulations. His words: “Let me say that our traditional institutions and elders will be respected very well but, if at any time, that respect was mistaken as a ticket to break laws that will not be tolerated, any of our elders who breaks laws would not be tolerated.” |

sometimes age matters and sometimes it does not. it will not matter if (a) the woman in question is still far from reaching her menopause years (b) if she is just about two or three years older than you - in this case, the lady is far from menopause but the snag here is that she is 8 years older than you - it might seem like it doesn't matter right now but it will matter in future cause ladies tend to age faster than men and by the time you are 42, she would be 50!!! by the time she starts ageing the attracttion you had for her would begin to evaporate so it's better to get someone who is younger - even if she is older than you, it shouldn't be more than two years ![]() |

ACF, Atiku, Northern leaders move to checkmate Jonathan •Plan takeover of PDP ahead of 2015 •How planned coup against Yar’Adua failed | Print | E-mail Written by Taiwo Adisa, Abuja Thursday, 02 June 2011 LEADERS of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and leading political figures from the North have unveiled a secret plot to take over the structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2015 general election. The secret agenda also includes plots to checkmate activities of President Goodluck Jonathan, who was sworn in for a fresh term of four years on Sunday. Sources at a multiparty meeting held on May 20, in Abuja, at the instance of ACF national chairman, Alhaji Aliko Mohammed, which featured representatives of the Unity Forum (UF), some northern leaders and leaders of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) claimed that the meeting was said to have concluded on the need for the North to take over the PDP ahead of the 2015 elections. The meeting was said to have resolved to do everything possible to ensure the election of a northern president in 2015, while also checkmating Jonathan. A source at the meeting said: “The meeting took place in the late hours of May 20 in Maitama District of Abuja. Participants were generally angry about the state of the North, especially the marginalisation of the North in key offices of the land. Participants deliberated on the imperative for consolidation and strategies towards ensuring the emergence of a northern president in 2015.” Those at the meeting included officials of the ACF, CPC, UF and some key northern leaders, a representative of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, a senator-elect of the CPC, among others. Other names at the meeting included Gambo Ahmed, a member of UF; Senator Abu Ibrahim; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Gidado Idris; Dr Sule Yahaya Hamma of the CPC; Senator Adamu Aliero, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Alhaji Sani Minista represented Alhaji M.D. Yusufu, former Inspector General of Police, while a participant whose name was given as Alhaji Mahmud, represented Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Others included Alhaji Murtala Usman Aliyu and Alhaji Ahmed Al-ghazali. It was gathered that the meeting resolved to ensure that President Jonathan is successfully checkmated through the digging up of vital information about the government and his person. A source further said of the resolutions of the meeting: “The meeting agreed that there is the need for the realisation of northern presidency project in 2015, as well as the question of leadership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It has become imperative that the success of northern desires in 2015 will largely depend eventually on who secures the PDP leadership now.” One of the leaders was said to have accused the current leaders of the PDP from the North as only working against the interests of the North. It was also revealed that some persons actually plotted to derail the government of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, when it became obvious that he could not continue as president when he returned from the medical trip to Saudi Arabia early in 2010. One of the participants was said to have told the meeting that but for certain meetings that did not hold and the lack of coordination among ministers of the then government, as well as the former First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, a change of government would have been effected to preserve the status quo and prevent a Jonathan presidency. |
