Buhari and his family moved into the house following the end of his tenure as president.
The video showed Buhari asking questions about the air conditioner in the apartment and some Nigerians said that the house wasn’t befitting for a former president.
he didn't loot money na. That's why the house is like that.
Cloudflare: Yesterday I decided to pay a visit to my parents before leaving today. Just this morning an unknown number called my mom and introduce himself as a Bank customer care. My mom handed over the phone to me because she doesn't understand what the caller was saying (the call kept disconnecting). The Werey scammer kept flashing because he doesn't have airtime.
Seems he finally bought airtime and called. I answered the call and demanded to know who he was, the guy told me to give the phone to the owner which I told him you're a scammer Abi? U dey find who u wan scammer this early morning?
caller: God punish you idiot, I say give the phone to the owner 😂
Me: your Papa! Fool. U no go go find work and help your miserable life. Thunder fire you there.
Omo, we kept exchanging words and we started exchanging insults in Bini language until the Werey ended the call. I still wasn't satisfied and then called him with my own phone, the guy picked up and the insults continued 😂 until he ended it again and blocked my number
Guys, tell your parents not to answer any call from any so-called Bank customers, they're all scammers.
This is the scammers number 08131146579
Our service providers should have made it easy to report such number for fraudulent activity.
the referee cheated Roma. That hand ball was a clear penalty, so was the foul against Tammy Abraham. I wonder why the referee didn't consult the VAR on both cases
UEFA should know nobody likes being cheated, especially when there is evidence to show one is cheated. Anthony Taylor goofed and made a terrible mistake.
MetaBroadband: Good morning mature men and women in the house. Please I need your help on this topic.
My Fiancee told me about how her biological dad abandoned her and her mum after getting her mum pregnant.
Her mum later married another man who adopted her as his child.
Now she's grown and I've proposed to her, I wanted to go for her official introduction and list collection.
Would it not be nice to hear the biological father's opinion? Should I just ignore the fact that the man is still alive and proceed with the marriage arrangement?
Although she said I should not bother about that, but this is Nigeria and as an Akwa Ibomite I don't think it's proper. Although she's against me trying to find out about the man's opinion. Should I care?
What can you say about this?
Note: she only told me that the man abandoned them, but what if it was her mum that actually took her away?
Did her biological father pay her mother's bride price?
Hmmm. This is exactly what I've been saying, government needs to be blamed. Everything we see, hear that these marketers and criminals do, is the fault of the government. Why is it their fault, because they fail to act.
I blame them because they created this in order to help themselves benefit from the chasm created because of their ineffectiveness and ineptitude.
Okonjo Iweala's mother was kidnapped because she refused to pay fraudulent subsidy claims, did the government bother to find out who and who kidnapped her mother? Irrespective of the fact they have many leads to follow?
This is very simple and easy. The companies making those bogus and fraudulent subsidy claims, should have been investigated by the Police because they are the ones likely to kidnap her mother, since one of the kidnappers told Iweala's mother they kidnapped her because her daughter refuse to pay their fraudulent subsidy money. So the prudent thing to do here is to investigate the owners of those companies, trace there whereabouts, tap their phone lines etc...
This is the same thing we hear everyday, government complaining about people smuggling fuel out of the country, yet they haven't been able to parade anybody caught for doing this.
The people who mount and protect our borders, (Customs) nobody have been sacked for failing to do their job.
You even have to ask yourself why Okonjo Iweala didn't take her findings to the EFCC. Any manner of fraud is a crime, so I wonder why she didn't involve the EFCC by showing them her findings, let the EFCC arrest the owners of those companies making fraudulent subsidy claims and prosecute them.
This would have been what is obtainable in many western states, but not in Nigeria where excuses are the other of the day. What a shame.
Alliswell248: Stop mincing words. Say many obidafts and ipob miscreants won't allow Nigerians rest if it were Jagaban. But we thank God, Jagaban is getting stronger.
if this was Tinubu, I'm sure many people will have sleepless nights making noise about how old and useless he is, that he has no business being the president of Nigeria. 😁
Its prudent to meet her biological father, traditional isn't sentiment. Even if her step father has been there for her all this time, her bride price should be paid to her biological father, except her biological father didn't pay the bride price of her mum, if he did, and her family didn't return it after they separated, then all right is given to her biological father.
Our tradition can be funny, but it's not sentimental. I've seen things since I've been in my town.
Don't be surprise if that guy doesn't pay the bride price to her biological father, her village people will deny him ownership of their kids...
In economics, there's the concept of "balance sheet deficits" and "carry forward debts". Those are not the actual terms but I'm trying to simplify this conversation.
When Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy, daily consumption of fuel in Nigeria stood between 25 to 35million liters (if my memory serves me well). Fast forward to today, daily consumption is claimed to be well over 60million liters.
Translation? Nigeria is paying double the subsidy claims today than it was doing in 2012. Hence, NNPC is paying more as means of subsidy during importation. Conclusion? Federal Government has to repay everything NNPC always claim to spend on subsidising importation.
With the free fall of our economy since 2016, coupled with Oil theft and pipeline vandalism, FG and NNPC have made less from Oil sales, while subsidy claims have kept increasing at the same time, so at some point, even the NNPC was unable to pay subsidy from her own pockets while awaiting repayment from the FG. So they balance their books with deficits, FG has no money to repay, FG has to go borrowing money to repay NNPC and before that happens, NNPC must have already accumulated a 2 or 3months subsidy claim. I have not even factored in corruption and theft by NNPC staff and government officials.
See my brother, this issue is a giant web of corruption, thievery and deliberate sabotage of the commonwealth of the Nigerian people. It's a conversation I can detail for you in person but cannot type down, cause I have a fine knowledge of it, having worked in the oil sector at some point.
so the same government that is funding nnpc is the same government that is paying nnpc for subsidy. Wow. What magnificent nonsense. So government removing subsidy means they will stop paying nnpc, so how will nnpc pay to import fuel when the government isn't funding it?
The technicalities in all this reeks of fraud, very high level of fraud.
Buddha3: That initiative ended long ago, even before Buhari's tenure.
There was a time independent oil companies were importing products alongside the NNPC. All you had to do was provide the import duty invoice which was monitored and approved by the Petroleum Pricing and regulatory bodies alongside the Petroleum ministry and the federal finance body, and once verified, Government will settle the subsidy claims for whatever you've imported so you could sell products the same prices as what was obtainable with NNPC.
Overtime, sharp practices were noticed and gross corruption set in. Oil companies were colluding with government officials to import less, inflate subsidy claims and fleece the Federal government in the process. Even after that, these imported subsidised products were being moved to neighbouring countries by land and water so they could be sold for an even higher profit margin.
So independent marketers were cut off from the importation chain and NNPC was saddled with the sole importation responsibility.
so who is government paying this subsidy to, if nnpc are the only ones importing fuel?
Odewaleadesoye: President Bola Tinubu (GCFR) on Monday announced fuel subsidy was gone because there is no budgetary allocation for it after June.
What is fuel subsidy?
Fuel subsidies are a form of government intervention to reduce the cost of fuel by providing direct financial support to oil companies, and as such, subsidise the product to consumers (Nigerians). Nigeria is one of Africa’s largest producers of crude oil, and it relies heavily on this resource for its economic growth.
The 2023 budget proposed N2.557trn supplementary budget for fuel subsidy.
Now to the main reason for creating this thread: "What is your take on the Fuel Subsidy Removal?"
Personally I support this Subsidy Removal as it would free up resources for other sectors of the economy, money spent by the government on subsidy would be better spent on education, healthcare, infrastructure development, amongst other key sectors but only if the funds won't be looted by those in charge.
Let's read about your own personal take on the fuel subsidy removal.
Government provide direct financial support to oil companies yet we were told NNPC are the only ones who have direct licence to import fuel.
So the question I want to ask first is, where and how is government providing financial support as regard fuel subsidy?
And he has kuku said if you like protest from now till next year.
Wahala wahala
the question now remain those who smuggle this fuel out of the country, who are they? What is the government doing in apprehending and prosecuting them?
Hope you know when you stop one route a smuggler use, he simply will go and look for another one.
BreconHills: If you want to ask where the value is in the economy ask me directly.
I'm not asking you for any value in any economy because I know even if there is, the common man won't have access to it, it is only those who have defrauded this country that will have access to it, even at that, such value can only be fraudulent because the country is built on the foundation of fraud.
BreconHills: You better all move on and stop shouting political slogans. Only the prepared and resourceful will see opportunity in "the wasteland". The rest will age in complaing.
There is so much opportunity in this market for those who have perception and clarity. Especially now
perception and clarity to commit more fraud, right?
Still with this revelation, nobody went to jail, nobody was arrested and people went home smiling and claiming to be big men after ripping off people.
I'll say this, Nigerian government are the very reason why people steal anyhow. Their failure to prosecute those who loot our country is giving people wings to do anyhow.
xpressionx: They thought it was a warfare between the igbos and the yorubas. Christians and Muslims.
We warned you.
How will a sensible leader remove Subsidy without announcing a proper plan.
Just like the way his selection threw the whole nation into mourning, so his actions are already doing.
This man is a disaster waiting to happen,he could not even wait for 24 hours before unleashing it.
I hope those guys making noise for him are buying fuel cheaper
keep making a fool of yourself. Even your Other Obi said he is going to remove fuel subsidy and yes, he doesn't have any plan whatsoever to cushion the negative effect of it. So why, are you making so much noise.
I wonder how the government plan on cushioning the effect of the price of goods and services. It's a standard fact when the price of petrol increase, everything goes up, even the price of toothpick.
