Jobs/VacanciesRe: Would You Advice Someone To Study Law, The Noble Profession In Nigeria ? by shegzhkn:
Lol.

I wouldn't advise even my foe to study law in Nigeria.

Where do we even start, first there are hundreds of thousands of folks who think they are lawyers regretting that they studied law, secondly law does not work in a country where the political climate is unstable, horrendous human right record, no regard for the rule of law and buckled democracy.

And the so called SAN means absolutely nothing.

Nigeria modelled it democracy to countries in the west but hasn't grown to their level in everything, for example in the United States you've got so many options to practice your trade because of their humongous advancement whereas in Nigeria lawyers only get cases because of basic issues that shouldn't have existed like Election matter, Political Corruption, etc.

So No don't study law.

Gbam thats the major reason I learnt programming not even the financial aspect of it sef. I never get up to a year of experience sha so I am practically illegal for any legal migration scheme out there.
Programming requires the effort and resources only passion and intrinsic motivation can give.

Moving heaven and earth to get something complex done, endless and painful debugging session, hours of brainstorming, et al

If you haven't still develop some sort of passion for this field then it is safe to assume you are willing to endure some form of pain just for you to get out, but still it will limit you in some ways.

I have gone very far for my level sha. I just cant post most of my works out there again due to confidential issues. Like I said in a previous comment, I deployed a site for a multi billion dollar conglomerate in the USA that employs more than 30000 people. I launched a landing page this week for a crypto startup that just raised 10 million dollars in funding. I am presently doing a very huge e commerce jamstack configuration for a business that does around 50 million USD in annual revenue. The job was gotten from one of the biggest known guys in the space. If I post links of what I have done, my people at work can find me.
Ok.

And i guess all this stuff you've done is to achieve one purpose - move to a distant shores ??

Well Milestone / achievement is relative, so.

@symbuul what you are experiencing now is completely normal.

Getting introduced to a completely strange material, you are reacting to it.

I've got few questions for you :

Why did you back out, what is the cause ??

is it the idea or the resources you are using ??

What language are you learning now ??, you know what just let me understand your struggles ??

You can learn programming for any reason and succeed. You just need to be very disciplined. My goals were money and migration. I was never passionate about programming. I am not and I can say I am fairly okay. Saying people must be passionate about programming to me is hogwash. Are petroleum engineeers passionate about crude oil? Are civil engineers passionate about buildings? We use the passion word too wrongly.
Lol, I know where you are coming from.

Truth is you will never get far, that for sure.

Which is what also happens in developed countries.

Criminals don't want to get caught...so they think ahead.

Again because the NPF is poorly funded...remember they get 2billion dollars to police 211million people, while the NYPD gets 10 billion to police 25 million people. How can they afford DNA extraction and analysis materials?(DNA is also not necessarily a magic bullet.)

Money is very important. You need money to build capacity to solve crimes more efficiently

You are expecting someone to do 10 billion dollars work on just one million dollars budget. Not possible.

Also, the US police has its own share of incompetent cops, and a lot of Nigerian cops are very competent.
Lol.

Beancounter93:
You should not watch detective series to get an idea of how crimes are solved...especially detective series from the USA...

Detective series give an idealized and sometimes unrealistic version of crime solving. In real life, crimes can SOMETIMES take decades to solve...even in developed countries. Also preliminary investigations can take weeks...not days or hours as the series shows.

If you want an idea of how crimes are realistically solved...watch the channels ID and CBS justice if you have DSTV.

In Nigeria, because most of us don't pay taxes...due to most of us being in the informal sector...police forces get poorly funded. The Nigeria police force gets one fifth of what the NYPD gets to police 211 million people compared to the NYPD's 26 million people. Corruption worsens the matter. Let's not even get started on state forensic labs...

Finally some crimes don't get solved on time because people lie. No one is going to tell police forces anything about a crime he or she knows something about, especially if he or she had anything to do with the crime...that's jail time. So, they lie.(One famous case of a missing child in Nigeria was not solved on time because one of the prime suspects withheld information from the police for years.)
Few of your submission are right.

But the crimes that takes long to crack are mostly committed by an adversary with lot of resources or an highly skilled individual that allows him stay ten steps ahead of the law enforcement.

I also get the issue of funding but c'mon look at the quality of the personnel who do this work for the Nigeria Police they are not trained for this kind of situation i mean at this stage and time they can barely extract dna samples from a crime scene if they manage not to contaminate the scene first and let not talk about the system that will run it.

You should not have compared them with NYPD at all.

If you think success of Government is measured by how much food is in your plate, then you are very wrong. it is on record that this government has introduced policies that can make hard working Nigerians billionaires. you sit in your small kitchen you call room to type nonsense expecting manna to fall from heaven! You are dead wrong. If you may know, there are homeless people/beggars and udene (vulture) eaters in USA. Has that government failed?
