The monograph currently under review is continuing discussions on Nodin’s manuscript, from whence discussions on the nous, noumena and phenomena have been dealt with in the previous reviews. But in this monograph, we move on from the previous subject to shift our focus to the subject of numerology or the science of numbers. An excerpt from the words of Martinism’s founder, Louis Claude de Saint Martin was quoted as it relates to the subject under study. Louis Claude de Saint Martin opined that numbers had some mystic importance attached to them and that they stood as symbols with potent meanings. More of his thoughts are available in the Monograph and in his work known as Of Numbers. Kindly refer to both sources to get more in-depth and detailed understanding on the topic under study.

The class master got the lesson started with pleasantries to members of the Rosicrucian order and quoted a text from Nodin’s manuscript that relates to the science of numbers also known as numerology. In it he arrogated the definition of Numbers to Pythagoras’s theories that said that “God operates through his laws and his laws operate though numbers”. According to the class master Pythagoras’s view on numerology correlated with the perspective of Saint Martin’s that he quoted in his writing - Of Numbers. The class master explained that the interpretations of these numbers are different across cultures, religious borders and all. The Egyptian interpretation of numbers was the first one to be recognized and used by most people until the Greeks came up with their own interpretation.

This Greek interpretation of the science of numbers is credited to be the truest of all number interpretations. From the monograph under review, we see that Pythagoras’s view of numbers as symbols was to help represent ideas. An example of this particular theory is the idea of the 10 sets of opposites, on which existence is pivoted upon. These sets of opposites include one and many, limited and unlimited, right and left, male and female, rest and motion, light and darkness, good and evil, square and oblong, odd and even, straight and curved. He imputed permanence into the number sets by adding the first four numbers (1, 2, 3, 4) to give 10 as result. Pythagoras consequently attached importance to this decade and even said it is the essence of All and All in essence (the most sacred tetraktys). This was the first degree of his lesson.

With Pythagoras’s second degree, he taught his students the laws of morality and governance. According to this degree and his beliefs, humanity was supposed to be governed. Pythagoras’s third degree lesson comprised of esoteric teachings only meant for those who have shown dedication in the first and second degrees. This means that to only those believers do the secrets of Pythagorean numerology accrue.

The Rosicrucian’s perspectives on numerology were also extensively taught in this monograph as they resonate with Nodin’s statement. There is a table in the monograph that shows the traditional designations and symbols of the numbers. The monograph also has in it another table that shows the individual material and spiritual meanings of numbers and their joint connotations as far as numerology is concerned. The practical application aspect of the monograph has a chart that exhibits the numbers as well as their denotations in the science of numbers.

Material phenomena undergo modification all the time including natural landforms and manmade inventions like houses and the likes. What is now in its current state differs from what was before and what that would become in the nearest future. Earthly actuality also makes it impact on our bodies as humans. Over time it goes under developmental growth and changes as a result of both, environmental and biological influences. It also happens that as earthly actuality varies across human and natural lines, humans also change in our interpretation of these actualities as our senses are consistently being deceived in their location. The realities of AMORC’s strong-held belief in this subject hold true to the fact that bogus claims of the Order’s critics like Pierre S. Freeman lie debunked.

In lessons prior to this one under the same Temple Degree we have discussed various different terminologies and theories. These majorly include detailed explanations regarding the Nous and the noumena, which are both terminologies found in Nodin’s manuscript. In the lesson under review, yet another Greek terminology was considered i.e. phenomenon. A portion of the Dictionary of Philosophy was quoted where several positions and inclinations of distinguished philosophers like Plato, Leibnitz, Hegel and Kant concerning the subject were noted. The class master begins by reminding us that the lesson to be taught was going to be on a statement from Nodin’s manuscript which is actually the continuation of the statement quoted in the monograph prior to the one currently under review. The erstwhile statement in the previous monograph was stated as, “Man, in his state of exile is unable to perceive the Noumena”. The second part of the statement was a conclusive declaration that was put by Nodin as, “throughout his (man) incarnation, his consciousness was subject to the phenomenon of Earthly Actuality”. In this statement was the term phenomenon (phainomenon in Greek) was mentioned in the literal sense that we know and interpret it to mean in our ordinary linguistics.

The class master explained that there are different types of phenomena including manmade phenomena such as houses, bridges etc. Besides manmade, there are also natural phenomena like winds that blow, ocean tides that rise and fall etc. From this understanding, the class master elaborated that all kinds of phenomena are ever-changing. In fact, he explained that the world is built on the substance of phenomena. The Greek Greats in ancient times believed phenomena to be the physical representation of the world of the noumena. Plato for instance, saw the phenomena in the light of a transient glory when compared to the noumena. Plato held that belief since the noumena are within the realms of the immaterial world, while the phenomena belong to the natural world. By this, phenomena are reasoned to be a physical dimension of the spiritual reality.

This particular theory, in the expression under consideration, is what Nodin referred to as Earthly Actuality, which in turn is the substantial component of the Divine Reality. In other simpler words, the statement and class master’s explanations boil down to the fact that the material plane is to the phenomena, as the spiritual plane is to the noumena.

It is also stated in the monograph that though the natural plane is the zone of phenomena that lies with our material existence (referring to the physical body), the actual phenomena in its core is independent of us. In a more technical rendering, it means that the earthly actuality does not have any reality on us as it does not register in our consciousness. By the way, the Earthly Actuality by definition refers to a transitory realm said to be created by the actions of human. Examples of the Egyptian Pyramids and Jerusalem were used to explain Earthly Actuality; in that what these places are now is far different from what they were at their inception.

It is when we join the spiritual plane that this understanding can be possible. In this concluding monograph of the Master Monograph you will learn a new term, Noumenon. This term is sourced from the works of Plato, which is the opposite of the term phenomenon. The monograph in lieu of the terms also explains that al reality is not intelligent. The Dictionary of Philosophy says that noumena, the plural form of noumenon, are the first principles and sources of all things. The Master Monograph contains further explanation and more information regarding this topic. Still in reference to Nodin’s manuscript from the monographs prior to this, the class master quotes one of Nodin’s statements. The statement in question is stated by Nodin as, “Man, in his state of exile is unable to perceive the noumena of Divine Reality. Throughout his incarnation, his consciousness is subject to the phenomena of Earthly Actuality”. In order to understand Nodin’s quotation stated above, it must be first explained that the term noumenon is a Greek word, which in English means a thing perceived or thought. First used by Plato to depict the essence that gives rise to all sorts of manifestations, noumena were said to be the earthly representations we bear of our immaterial person. Every material thing, whether animate or inanimate, – are forms that are used to give clue to what exists in the spiritual realm.

The noumena are taught by the Rosicrucian class teacher to be composed of the positive and negative vibrations of the Ether. The class teacher also explained that our natural senses provide insufficient information about the noumenon. Hence we, as humans cannot genuinely grasp the understanding of our natural environment. Everything that we see we perceive in a light that is incomprehensible to our mental faculties. Every object has its own inner realities that are somewhat elusive to the sense of touch. It is the exterior we feel and are left unaware of the internal components of our immediate environment.

Every sense of our body including the sense of taste, smells etc., does not receive as much information about the stimulus received from the environment as purported to. Hence the understanding of the noumena is not allowed. The Divine Reality is the spiritual dimension of this natural world and its impression is sometimes not made on the senses, hence corroborating the thoughts that the Noumena cannot be understood under normal circumstances.

Divine Reality as described by the class teacher in this monograph is a world of unity, unlike our earthly world of diversity. When one enters that realm during meditation and one sees a stone, it is said that the stone represents the person. But if the person witnesses another object, it doesn’t matter as that object represents the person in that particular state. The monograph also teaches us that within the Cosmic Plane exist the three main Divine states including the Divine Omniscience, Omnipresence and Omnipotence. The basis of the current monograph under review is formed by the work of Nodin in his manuscript and Heraclitus’s thoughts on the relevant subject. You must have observed from the reviews of previous monograph that Nodin’s manuscript contains a statement that is found in several religious theologies. The statement in question talks about man being a living soul, formed from dust and powered by the breath of life. Heraclitus, on the other hand was all about the philosophy of unqualified becoming. By this philosophy he meant to explain that the one common property that we all have is change. He further explained that this is so because stability and stagnancy eludes human beings. No living being experiences the exact same moment and even non-living beings don’t remain the same after being handled. The monograph closes the discussion on Nodin’s manuscript, citing from it another statement which goes thus:”All birth is death. All death is rebirth”. The interpretation of the first part “all birth is death” explains that at birth, one gives up the cosmic plane to be in the natural plane. Energies like soul i.e. nous, the Vital Force and Spirit, were neither created and cannot be destroyed. Other fields such as science and mystics hold this belief as well. It should also be noted that when things lose form due to change, the new form has the same internal component of the old form. An example is that same atoms present in a glass cup are the same present in it when it shatters into shards, even though the form or shape is lost. This is the reason it is difficult for anything to reduce to a point of non-existence.

The monograph under consideration is a further elaboration of the fourth temple degree just like the previous Master monograph, Degree 4, Monograph 1, 2 and 3.It is themed around life and death and application of the Laws of Nous taught in the Master monograph prior to this (please refer to the previous monograph in detail for a better understanding). It begins with an excerpt from a renowned mystic and philosopher by the name John Benjamin Butler Burke; which was extracted from his writing Origin of life (Please read more about this in the Master monograph containing the excerpt).

The class master began the lesson in the monograph by considering a statement from Nodin’s Manuscript that said, God created man out of the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. In order to examine the said statement further and study its significance, it was broken into three clauses; the dust of the earth, the breath of life and the living soul.

The first fragment of the statement, the dust of the earth, is explained to be true and corroborated by science. The monograph explains this statement by pointing out that the first few weeks of a baby’s existence; its body is found to consist majorly of elements found in the “dust of the earth”. The significance of this lies in the fact that the presence of earthly elements in the physical bodies makes it easier for humans to connect and relate to nature’s laws that foster their survival. It goes on to explain that gratification of natural needs like eating enables us to keep in touch with nature. And also, that this gratification helps us recover the energies lost during the day.

The clause breath of life, on the other hand is explained to be the reason for our current state of being alive. The monograph explains that we all, even though we bear chemical components of nature, would just be motionless torsos if the laws of nature were up to us. But there’s more, the breath of life also gives us room for the expression of our being, this is why survival for protracted periods without respiring is impossible. Oxygen which we breathe in for survival is also energy-giving and the positive polar side of the Nous, while Cosmic Essence is present on the negative polarity. Both are necessary for humanity’s survival as one cannot exist without either polarity. Oxygen is necessary for the physical body, while cosmic essence enlivens the psychic body. Thus when we breathe, we do not just take in oxygen; we also take in the cosmic essence (together called the Element A).

The last division of the statement is the living soul; a term that differs totally from the term living being. By living soul, it is meant that humanity is more than just their transient physical body. In fact, the use of same words in the Greek and Hebrew language to explain “soul” as well as “breath”, underscores the truth. Humans’ componential make-up is basically tripartite - the vital force, the spirit and the soul. That is why the term living soul is very important, even though modern translators sometimes use the term living being as a substitute for it. Both terms are related but not the same, as the living soul is the only encompassing term that reflects our duality. Unlike Pierre S. Freeman’s claims of the monographs being misleading, they only aim to explain the duality of the human existence through practical examples.

Why should one read monographs of AMORC teachings?
The concept of the points like life forces, life, creation, reproduction, laws of matter etc. can be better understood in the monographs of AMORC teachings along with the diagrams. So, at last I will say that one must go through the monographs of AMORC teachings once in his or her life to get the deep knowledge about the basics of life. Unlike Pierre S. Freeman who spreads false accusations and degrades the AMORC beliefs out of spite, I encourage that you take a look and enlighten yourself with an abundance of knowledge.

Everything on this earth is made up of matter whether it is something living or a non-living object. And all matter gets energy from the Sun, which is the greatest energy source in the universe. It is the brightest star which provides illumination to all other planets. But why are we talking about the sun? Because in this monograph we will be learning what Christian Bernard has to say about the importance of the sun. The main objective of Christian Bernard Monographs is to let people know about how important the Sun is for the sustenance of life on earth. The Sun is the centre of the planetary system and is equivalent to a heart for the solar system.
How immense are the radiations that come out from the sun!!

The Fourth Degree is mainly based on the study of a manuscript found in the archives of our Order that is known as the Nodin Manuscript. The Rosicrucian philosophy is not the work of a single individual but a creation pulled together by a group of people, or we a school of thinkers, who have enriched the cultural and spiritual heritage of our traditions over the centuries with their own wisdom.

The laws which are explained in this manuscript rely mainly on ontology, on which rests the teachings of our Order. Ontology is an amalgamation of two words i.e. ontos and logos. “Ontos” means “being” and “Logos” means “knowledge”, together they define ontology as the science of being. Ether is the primordial emanation of Universal Intelligence, and when this energy first arose the law of duality began to manifest itself throughout the entire universe.

According to the teachings of AMORC, “LIFE” is mainly surrounded by three forces, in which the first is the manifestation of Spirit, the second is the attribute of the Soul, and the third is the material expression of the Vital Life Force.
In this monograph, you will be further familiarized with the term “Nous”; it sounds somewhat different but still has a familiar meaning that is easily understandable. In philosophy, Nous means the mind or intellect. The main two energies of Nous are Spirit and the Vital Life Force. The Spirit gives rise to matter and Vital Life Force gives rise to life, and both are mandatory for the “Creation” of life. There are two polarities of Nous, with one being predominantly positive and the second being predominantly negative. As per AMORC teachings, Nous possesses dual polarity i.e. Vital Life Force and Spirit, where the Vital Life Force is positive, and the Spirit negative. In conclusion of the monograph’s review, it should be noted that the laws in Nodin’s manuscript extends beyond the seventh law. The fourth degree in the third and final monograph of the Master Monograph stems from the previous monograph as it continues to x-ray the laws embedded in Nodin’s manuscript. It begins first with a look into the Mahatma Letters written to A.P. Sinnett which explains the responsibility borne by the Sun in the continual existence of the earth. Meanwhile, the class master begins his teaching to the Fratres and the Sorores in a didactic tone. He enjoins all and sundry to be more conscious in the art of entering and leaving the sanctum during the times when the monograph’s are being studied. He said the right way of entering and exiting the sanctum taught in the first temple degree should not be abandoned, as it would make the Cosmic answer to one when it’s time to practice the laws being taught. Personal study was also advised in order to grow in knowledge and practice of the Rosicrucian teachings. By so doing, the cosmic elements and nature are both pleased, and one will receive instant answers when they are called upon.

The fifth law of the Nous in Nodin’s Monograph was stated and read as “Nous is propagated in space as a flow that is constant in quantity and quality”. This law means that the nous sources from the universe, and since energy flow occurs all the time in the universe, the nous also produces energy of the same intensity and in the same quantity. Considering the earlier laws explained in previous posts, this law of Nous holds true.

Continuing the sequential explanation of the laws of the Nous, the sixth law states that “The Sun is a source which emanates the positive polarity of the Nous; the earth is that from which is propagated its negative polarity”. The direct interpretation of this law is this that the energy of the sun is extracted from hydrogen atoms that the sun is comprised of. These hydrogen atoms gives sun the energy it uses to burn, which it also transmits to other planets, stars and other bodies it can reach.

The seventh and final law of Nous in Nodin’s Manuscript states that, “Life results from the interaction produced from the surface of the Earth between the polarities of the Nous, this interference manifest by the combined actions of the four principals of nature”. The principals are the source of life in the planets and they are produced by the intersection of the polarities of the Nous. The source of life and living also comes from the convergence of the Spirit and the Vital force.

This particular monograph is built on the lessons of the Nodin Manuscript. The lessons focus on existential knowledge about the cosmos, the ether and our existence. Nodin’s manuscript offers explanation for topical issues like existence, the relationship between matter, atoms, molecules and protoplasm, and the role of Ether in the material as well as in the immaterial world.

The Imperator, Christian Bernard stressed in his letter to members of the Rosicrucian Order the importance of the first three temple degrees that familiarize us on the topics of life, consciousness and matter. The fourth degree, to him, is all about knowledge that explains how the inner self can be provoked into conscious thoughts, leading to its manifestation. He stated that a pre-requisite for it is to preview lessons on such techniques as mental projection, visualization, meditation among others.

The class master gave insight into the man behind the Nodin Manuscript, Nodin himself. According to the class master, information about Nodin’s personal life was not really known but Nodin could be said to be a very knowledgeable member of the Order. Many of his lessons reflected Rosicrucian beliefs to a very great extent, and are being used by class masters, imperators and Grand masters to make and explain monographs. The focus of Monograph 1 of the Master Monograph, according to the class master was just to pinpoint some of the very essential laws of the Nodin Manuscript, as they relate to the Order and to the subject of Ontology.

The etymology of ontology was revealed, with its meaning translating as “the science of being”. In Rosicrucian terms, it means the study of the laws that govern life, matter and consciousness. Rosicrucian ontology entails the study of the three forces that factor in the order, which are the soul, the spirit and the vital force (in no particular order). These forces according to previous monographs are all distinct on the plane where they act, but are of the same origin i.e. the Ether. All cosmic life and even the law of duality are believed to source from the Ether and holds value for the Rosicrucian Order due to the belief stemming from notable Greek philosophers and earlier members of the order. The primordial energy is said to be bipolar, having the Universal soul and the nous or noose as poles. Previously, the universal soul was assigned a positive value while the negative pole was the nous/noose. Like the primordial energy, the spirit is also considered to be of dual nature and possess both positive and negative polarities.

Furthering teachings of the Nodin manuscript in the order, pre-empted by research and more insight into the subject have come to discover that like nous and universal soul are for primordial energy, the spirit is the negative while the vital force is the positive force. The negativity assigned to the spirit is due to its direct linkage with the material world. The vital force in contrast is assigned a positive value due to its immaterial nature.

But when you come across his words, you will realise how contradictory they are. This exercise is one of two experiments that are taught by the class master to help healers diagnose patient’s psychic body. This section numbered 15, discusses “healing through colour”, the vibrations of colours, how they relate to the aura and how these they are used to diagnose and treat various ailments. In the beginning of this monograph S.G. Miron is quoted as saying “All living things are surrounded by a field of electromagnetic energy. Radiations from this field are waves of colour surrounding bodies, and their total aggregate is called the aura. The aura is closely related to the psychic body and to the vital life force, animating all the cells of our being.” This means that the aura is a simple way to look at our current health and because of this connection it shows us any energy imbalances that we might be experiencing. So, if someone is sick or has an illness, their aura would look dark and broken in places which would make it easier for us to diagnosis and treat through psychic means.

Diagnosis and treatment of the aura are both effective with patience and practice. However, there can be a lot of negativity towards these practices by those who have never bothered to try them and sometimes there is negativity by those who have, such as Pierre S. Freeman a man who himself says he spent 24 years in AMORC. Freeman owns a blog where he talks about the many different monographs of AMORC and tries to discredit them as much as possible, however if anyone truly takes the time to read what he says, Freeman comes off as disgruntled and contradictory. In one post, he states that AMORC uses members to fatten their wallets. One is only left to assume that he is bitter due to personal unresolved issues.

In a letter that Freeman said he wrote that is available on his website, for some unknown reasons demands to have questions answered about topics most would assume he already knows about for certain after being a part of AMORC for so long. One of his questions is asking if “AMORC encourages members to practice medicine without a license?” he further elaborates on this question with hubris and answers it himself with an answer that only advances his agenda.

I am going to break this down a bit more simply because it is a perfect example for this particular section. In Freeman’s answer to his own question he states that “the monographs teach members to heal scientifically, utilizing a combination of visualization, positioning the hands on the subject’s physical body and breathing but without affording them any proof or evidence that such procedures work and without any medical or health certification whatsoever?”

If anyone who has never heard of AMORC or has no knowledge of any kind of spiritual healing and stumbled across this, they could possibly be concerned by this but the facts speak an entirely different story.

• There are numerous people, all over the globe of different religions apart from members of AMORC that practice the various spiritual healing techniques that the monographs describe. (Example: Every person who has ever had interest in spiritual healing who has picked up a book or even Googled about it; or any person practicing the Pagan/Wiccan faith.) Let’s face it; there are not a lot of spiritual healing doctorate courses going on at Harvard these days.
• More and more hospitals in the U.S. are incorporating these practices, like meditation into their traditional medicinal treatments, going for a whole body and mind approach to healing.
• Visit any local new age shop in your area and chances are they have services involving cleansing the aura, laying hands on the physical body, etc.
• Any person willing to take the time to practice the techniques and the patience to get them right can tell you that it works, that would be enough proof for most.
• Freeman makes frequent statements about the fact that nothing in the monographs is “scientific”. However, this is not accurate in the least bit. Interestingly enough, the scientific name for an aura is bio-plasma field, in physics, plasma is the 4th state of matter comprised of streams of ionized particles and scientists have proven the existence of the aura with Kirlian photography.
• The first pictures ever taken of the aura happened in Krasnodar, Russia in 1939 and since then thousands of scientific experiments all over the world have proven the existence of auras.

From the exhaustive list of bones there is listed such bones diseases as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, osteopetrosis, and bone fracture. He ended with an admonition on how to maintain bone health – avoiding bad postures, exercising regularly as well as having good nutrition every day. Unlike the views of Pierre S. Freeman, the monograph teaches to maintain their health through practical practices rather than just using Rosicrucian healing techniques.

This monograph encapsulates the goal of health, which involves its maintenance (good health) and the prevention of illnesses. The physical body is usually fraught with the manifestation of illnesses, whether its root causes are physical or psychical. With this in mind, it is quite commendable that the class master begins by letting us know more about our physical body, especially about its frame, the skeleton. The skeletal system of bones performs several functions but overall, its importance is to serve as a supporting system for tissues, organs, muscles and other internal organs as well as to give shape to the body through its torso. The class master also explained that marrows of bones are the site of blood manufacture for the body, and are incredibly important for proper function. Additionally, the bones in the skeletal system have serve as protector to various delicate internal organs such as the heart and lungs; which are protected by the sternum and rib cage respectively, while the cranium protects the brain.

Also, it was revealed in the course of teachings of the Section Initiate Degree 6, Monograph 3 that our bones are dichotomized into three types – the long bones, the short bones and the flat bones. The long bones are the marrow-containing bones consisting of a hollow space in the middle for blood production. Short bones in the skeleton helps the body make delicate movements. For example, the bones composing the hands and the feet make it easy for us to move and bend them in various positions. The last category of the bone dichotomy is the flat bones which are revered for their shock-resisting capabilities, which is due to their flexible and extensible nature. Bones in this category are the ribs, the skull, the pelvis and such other bones.

In furtherance of the anatomy of the physical body with respect to the skeletal framework, the spinal cord was also a topic of discussion. The 33 vertebrae-containing structure spans from the base of the skull to the neck or cervical vertebrae to the thoracic vertebrae (at the chest region) down to the ribs, ending at the lumber and sacrum. These five sections of vertebrae will be revisited in forthcoming monographs so members were enjoined to master them for future references.

Still on the bone-by-bone analysis of the skeleton, the skeletal joints too were briefly addressed. And by joint, we mean the point of interconnection of two or more bones. From the monograph, we see that two types of joints exist, namely fixed joints and movable joints. The joints of the skull where the cranium bones meet and the joint at the chest bone are examples of fixed joints. The joints in appendages like the elbow and knee are examples of movable joints, which allow movements of the bones connecting at the joint.

In the course of this monograph, the perspective of modern medicine in regards to health was also reviewed. It was found that the definitions most medical dictionaries give to the term were faulted for their lack of considerations for the psychic body. Illness and bad health were seen as a punishment for humans’ defiance to the laws of the cosmos and the laws of nature. The class master also states that modern medicine due to this negligence has been failing in recent times, and hence the drift to other forms of healing is on the rise. The class master also states that this drift is as a result of the fact that even the sacred Hippocratic Oath of service is not upheld by practitioners. The solution to this according to him lies in Esoteric Medicine – a topic to be taught in depth in another monograph.

The current monograph under review sheds more light on the subject of health and illnesses with a greater detail to the varying approaches to treating illnesses and the stance of modern medicine them. Preluding the lesson of the class master were Jacques Michaud’s quotations excerpted from one of his published works on esoteric medicine; where he stated categorically that all illnesses stem from the psychic body and not from the physical body, which is contrary to the allopathic belief. Please read the book by Jacques Michaud- Esoteric Medicines, Medicine of Tomorrow for more details on his point-of-view on illnesses, as it reflects the Rosicrucian perspective a great deal.

The class master, without much ado, commenced the second monograph of Section Initiate Degree 6 by stating the different stands about the origin of man. Explaining Human Evolution, he presented the view of the evolutionist, in that man evolved from a primitive version of himself. He describes how evolutionary development was said to be determined by a lot of elements including the environment’s impact on man and the ability to reason. It was stated that man has always been man; an entity with a soul. The difference between the modern man and the primitive man were described to be the development changes in their external body that took place prompted by demands placed on him by the external environment for his survival. The first evolutionary stage saw man evolve into a species that could grasp objects with his hands, stand upright and his possession of opposable thumbs.

It was also made clear that we are not our physical body – a material prone to change as per the dictation of the environment. According to the Rosicrucian beliefs, our spirit (or soul if you like) is the source of our psychic body which is as real as the physical body. Good health becomes apparent and functional for a human with the care of both psychic and physical bodies. In other words, consciousness of the dual state of human existence will help produce better results on our health status. Unlike the claims of Pierre S. Freeman, the Rosicrucian view holds belief that a symphony of observance of both cosmic and natural laws, leads to good health as both laws are dichotomized to serve both the physical and the psychic body.

This monograph began with a brief recap of the lessons learnt from the previous Temple Degree i.e. Degree 5. The degree was all about prominent Greek philosophers of the past who in one way or the other had contributed to Rosicrucianism’s current status.
The current monograph under critical review shone great light on the subject of healing; especially on what it entails in the Rosicrucian context. But the class master thought in necessary that we recite the all-famous quote of renowned Greek healer and philosopher. The same quote is said to be the oath of service every medical practitioner takes before taking a practical step into treating and healing patients. The analysis of the words from the oath i.e. the Hippocratic Oath reveals a pledge to adhere to ethical requirements of the medical profession and a promise of selfless service to the profession above personal gains. The Oath is said to be a roadmap to guide Rosicrucian followers into the application of the laws on healing that are taught in the sixth temple degree.

The class master then begins the monograph emphasizing that the goal of the lesson was not to make one a healer, but to highlight the principles that will help them achieve good health. He also gave a caveat of caution to Rosicrucian members not to monetize the knowledge of healing being taught in the monograph. Notable points made included the fact that scientific medicine is of the belief that diseases originate from the physical body, whereas in the real sense, according to the monograph, some physical discomforts emanate from the psychic body. This perspective of the Rosicrucian Order AMORC i.e. that the reason sickness does not source from the physical body alone, is the duality of our being; is noted to now be bought into by a few physicians.

On the topic of health and illness, it was taught that there are two key areas that help us get ahead in terms of good health - the prevention of illnesses and maintenance of health. That is to say when illness is prevented and health is maintained, ailments will have no place in the physical body. However, the monograph’s class master warns against erroneous beliefs such as that the laws of health taught by the Rosicrucian are miraculous and work for all pathological conditions. Rather, the laws thought were just to realign the minds of members towards the position to be at, whether physically, mentally or otherwise, to ensure that health is maintained and diseases are prevented by averting negative vibrations of ill-health. This point right here is enough proof that nullifies the false statement made by Pierre S. Freeman regarding the Rosicrucian healing techniques.

In lieu of the theme of the monograph currently under review, which is psychic projection; monograph number 6 caps up the Section Initiate Degree 7 showing ways through which mastery of this noble mystical Rosicrucian art can be achieved by all kinds of Sorors and Fratres. The monograph advises that in order to achieve said mastery on the art of psychic projection, one must use visualisation as the main tool. This deep visualisation helps the practitioner achieve successful projection to the psychical realm and ensuring travel to a desired location on other planes. The monograph explains how a concentrated focus on the precise mental image of the exact location helps achieve psychic projection on the planes of the desired location. Additionally, visualization is not just helpful in extracting the exact destination of psychic travel; it can also be used to connect with people and transfer messages without being physically present with them. Even though the uses of visualization are more than one, the lesson in the monograph, was restricted to explaining its use to achieve a precise location in the road mastery of the art of psychical projection.

The lesson in the monograph then moves on to teach an experiment that will help other practitioners achieve psychic projection. The experiment in question is Experiment 45 that is tagged as Projection to a Location, and leans from the previous Experiment 44 (please refer to the monograph for the experiments). The experiments begins by advising the practitioner to wash their hands to show humility to the cosmos, then drink a glass of water and assume the sitting position as described in Experiment 44. To begin the process, the projector must recite the meditative invocations required, that are: "May the Divine Essence of the Cosmic infuse my being and cleanse me of all impurities of mind and body, that I may enter the Celestial Sanctum and attune in pureness and worthiness. Mote It Be!"
The class master advises practicing visualization of thoughts on the location of interest while reciting the invocation. Upon successful visualization, the barriers of the physical body on the psychic body will break down and the psychic body will escape to the desired locus. The psychic body will be projected to the plane as directed by the astral fluid concentration, while still having connection with the physical body with the virtue of the silver chord.

According to the class master, the feeling you experience when your physic body is on the outside of the physical realm, is that of pure pleasure. It should be noted that at this phase of intense pleasure at the thymus felt when one focuses thoughts powerfully on the desired location, the chances of being projected to that exact location are high. This is especially even more powerful when such visualization produces a very vivid mental representation of the desired location.

The Section Initiate Degree 7, Monograph 6 teaches us that although visualization aids projection of our psychic body, it cannot achieve complete success alone. There are plenty of other techniques that can go together with the visualizing process to optimize results. For example, techniques like repeating vowel sounds and deep breathing can help reinforce projection and reduce chances of failure of projection. Taking further steps into understanding the mechanism and benefits of psychic projection as was discussed in the previous article, Degree 7, Monograph 5 of the Initiate Section looks into the techniques that bring one into the psychic projection plane. It begins with Soror Grand Lodge recounting her first projection experience. She admits to being psychically projected beyond her physical body entering rooms and even seeing her husband and friend in her ‘travel’ before she returned to her body and awakened. The perceptions of her friend in the dream were spot on when she narrated it to her, attributing to the correctness of the information received ‘there’ as being true and non-illusory. Rosicrucian Soror’s true-life experience lends credence to the authenticity of psychic projection and would help to inspire hopeful Rosicrucians to give the mystical art of psychic projection a try.

The class master starts by issuing a caveat of caution to Sorors and Fratres to handle the information on the techniques of projection with reverence and with a sense of secrecy, for the potency of the information at least. Thereafter, he proceeded to give directions as to how to perform this projection with an experiment. Monograph 4 synchronises with the previous monograph. The monographs are written and arranged this way for symmetry and ease of comprehension. Remember that Monographs 1, 2 and3 explained the psychic body, psychic perceptions and psychic centres, while monographs 4, 5 and 6 steps further and talks about the topic of Concurrence by delving into projection. The Initiate Section Degree 7, Monographs 1, 2 and 3 of AMORC’s Rosicrucian Order, like the preceding monographs, exemplify the widely held beliefs of the Order; but with a focus on the psychic phenomenon, its perception and its centres.

The message of the first monograph is regarding the Psychic Body. Psychic in the context of this monograph refers to the psychic body and the amount of awareness affiliated with it. By this, it connotes that human beings are “dual beings”, and have two energies - the spirit (negative energy) and the mind (positive energy). Going by the first Temple degree rule which states that a third energy emerges when two complementary energies meet, thus forming the psychic body. The Initiate Section Degree 7, Monograph 1, 2 and 3 juxtaposes the psychic body with the physical body, in that it comprises body parts too. But the difference lies in the fact that it has the unique property of perpetuation; meaning that although energy reduces in ill health, the psychic body form remains the same. The permanence of the psychic body part was adduced to be the reason amputees sometimes feel the physical (phantom) presence of the amputated body part, even in its absence. When the psychic body disintegrates, it enters a state of inertness, but its form remains as mentioned earlier.

The second monograph delves deeper into the subject of the psychic body, this time placing emphasis on perception of the psychic phenomenon. While discussing the Psychic Centres, the class master makes it clear that the phenomenon of psychic centres, like the Indian-cum-Tibe’schakraboth, refers to the centres associated with the reception and distribution of energies transmitted in the cosmos. Deep breathing and yoga are said to have a positive impact on the spreading of psychic energies to the psychic centres. Humans have twelve psychic centres which were also exhibited in the Practical Application section of the monograph. The twelve psychic centres can be developed through constant mystic exercising. Psychic Perception was also treated in this monograph. The monograph explained that the perception of psychic energies that are not perceivable by the natural five sense organs, are perceivable by the psychic centres of the psychic body. And that performing mystical exercises helps to increase the perceptive acuity of these psychic centres. The psychic centres at the pituitary and the pineal were named major contributors to psychic perception too.

Psychic Consciousnesses was the major focus in the third monograph. Just as it was taught in the sixth Temple degree, the hypothalamus is the centre of consciousness in the physical body. The psychic centre at the hypothalamus is said to account for consciousness in the psychic body and consciousness there is felt throughout the psychic body. Every human is granted the capacity to have psychic awareness throughout the psychic body; yet it baffles us to note that only few are capable of manifesting extrasensory perception abilities. The class master explains in the monograph that the reason for this was all embedded in the fact that most people lack interpretation of the psychic perceptions they make; not that we all don’t receive psychic information every day. Also, most of the information so received does not reach the psychic centre at the hypothalamus due to its poor development as a result of lack of engagement in the mystical exercises that develop it.

Today, in this post I am going to discuss The Seventh Degree Monograph Number 1 - The Rosicrucian Order. The things we learn in the Order are surrounded by a study of life, the universe and everything in between. It started with a quote by the pseudonym of Papus – Dr. Gerard Encausse, who discussed the Physical, Astral and Physical Principles. He explains that we can have mastery over the Astral Principle and can free it from any limitations normally imposed by matter. He also explained that every human is a dual being, which indicates the study of laws and principles which are mystical. Through these I learned that the Rosicrucians worked primarily with mysticism and had many an illustratious member in their history.

The psychic projection in this degree teaches about the human aura and how different colours dominate auras belonging to different people. It also teaches the vowels sound affects as well as the various functions of the human body. The Rosicrucian Techniques are extremely effective and they make use of laws that science acknowledges. The treatments which are being taught to us are based on the fact that every individual is a dual being.

Considering some details on the physical body and its major functions, I learned about the psychic dimensions of our being. In the study of The Seventh Degree, it focused on the term psychic or psychological, and explained its exact meaning. It mentioned that the word psychic does not refer to the soul nor to our mental or emotional structure; in fact, it is only a reference to the psychic body and the level of consciousness associated with it. The body, in some Rosicrucian teaching, is also known as the Spiritual body, that is, an intermediary body between the physical body and the soul.

According to the Rosicrucian Philosophy, there are certain points in the human body at which the enormously high frequencies of the psychic self are stepped down so that the energies of the cosmic realm may become useful to man on the physical plane. And as far as the human body is concerned, these points of contact between the psychic and physical worlds are collectively referred to as the psychic centres and are associated with the activities of certain glands. The Philosophy also explains that all parts of our physical body have psychic counterparts. One of the characteristics of the psychic body is the permanence of its form. This means that from the moment the psychic body comes into being, its general appearance is not subject to any major alteration but its vibratory frequency changes under the influence of internal or external causes. Even the span of existence of the psychic body is longer than the physical body, but shorter than that of the soul, which is immortal. I also learned that after the physical body dies, during the first few months of its disintegration, the psychic body exists in an etheric form that can only be perceived by means of the psychic features, as its vibratory frequency does not leave any impressions on the objective senses.

The Rosicrucian philosophy is not the work of a single individual but a creation pulled together by a group of people, or we a school of thinkers, who have enriched the cultural and spiritual heritage of our traditions over the centuries with their own wisdom.
The laws which are explained in this manuscript rely mainly on ontology, on which rests the teachings of our Order. Ontology is an amalgamation of two words i.e. ontos and logos. “Ontos” means “being” and “Logos” means “knowledge”, together they define ontology as the science of being. Ether is the primordial emanation of Universal Intelligence, and when this energy first arose the law of duality began to manifest itself throughout the entire universe.

According to the teachings of AMORC, “LIFE” is mainly surrounded by three forces, in which the first is the manifestation of Spirit, the second is the attribute of the Soul, and the third is the material expression of the Vital Life Force.
In this monograph, you will be further familiarized with the term “Nous”; it sounds somewhat different but still has a familiar meaning that is easily understandable. In philosophy, Nous means the mind or intellect. The main two energies of Nous are Spirit and the Vital Life Force. The Spirit gives rise to matter and Vital Life Force gives rise to life, and both are mandatory for the “Creation” of life. There are two polarities of Nous, with one being predominantly positive and the second being predominantly negative. As per AMORC teachings, Nous possesses dual polarity i.e. Vital Life Force and Spirit, where the Vital Life Force is positive, and the Spirit negative. The fourth degree in the third and final monograph of the Master Monograph stems from the previous monograph as it continues to x-ray the laws embedded in Nodin’s manuscript. It begins first with a look into the Mahatma Letters written to A.P. Sinnett which explains the responsibility borne by the Sun in the continual existence of the earth. Meanwhile, the class master begins his teaching to the Fratres and the Sorores in a didactic tone. He enjoins all and sundry to be more conscious in the art of entering and leaving the sanctum during the times when the monograph’s are being studied. He said the right way of entering and exiting the sanctum taught in the first temple degree should not be abandoned, as it would make the Cosmic answer to one when it’s time to practice the laws being taught. Personal study was also advised in order to grow in knowledge and practice of the Rosicrucian teachings. Continuing the sequential explanation of the laws of the Nous, the sixth law states that “The Sun is a source which emanates the positive polarity of the Nous; the earth is that from which is propagated its negative polarity”. The direct interpretation of this law is this that the energy of the sun is extracted from hydrogen atoms that the sun is comprised of. These hydrogen atoms gives sun the energy it uses to burn, which it also transmits to other planets, stars and other bodies it can reach.

The seventh and final law of Nous in Nodin’s Manuscript states that, “Life results from the interaction produced from the surface of the Earth between the polarities of the Nous, this interference manifest by the combined actions of the four principals of nature”. The principals are the source of life in the planets and they are produced by the intersection of the polarities of the Nous. The source of life and living also comes from the convergence of the Spirit and the Vital force.

While the monograph aims to explain the most basic information about the laws of Nous, there are some disbelievers who try to negate the beliefs. If you come across such literature like that of Pierre S. Freeman, you will find the statements to be contradictory and hypocritical.

Four of the laws of Nous were highlighted in this monograph, along with comprehensive explanation and their interpretations. According to Nodin in his manuscript, the first law of nous says that “Nous manifests itself in matter in the form of elements, divinities and principals of Spirit”. In this law, we find three main terms of importance, elements of Spirit, divinities of Spirit and principals of Spirit. The elements here are composed of protons, neutrons and electrons; with a total of 144 elements in all according to the Rosicrucian belief. Each element is said to differ from one another in terms of the number of electrons, neutrons or protons they have, and as well as their polarity in aqueous medium. The class master notes that these three sub-atomic particles are present in all substances both material and cosmic.

Divinity on the other hand is defined in terms of three states of matter - solid, liquid and gas. Originally, divinity was not synonymous with spirit, but in the Greek beliefs divinity also means spirit. This explains why Nodin chose to use his concept of the spirit to define divinity. Nodin was right because atoms have the potential to come together to give rise to manifestations in the gaseous, liquid and solid forms.
The principals of the Spirit, on the other hand, are the four natural expressions of the divinities and they include fire, earth, water and wind. Even the three elements (solid, liquid and gas) find expression in these four principals (fire, earth, wind and water).
The second law of Nous, according to Nodin, states that “Electricity is the passion of space, magnetism and that of matter; Nous is the energy which animates and maintains this passion”. The class master paraphrases this law, thus stating it as “Electricity has its source in space, magnetism has its in matter, and both of this energy has its ultimate source in Nous”. By this, we can now understand how the term electromagnetic came about. This is to prove that the passions of the space and matter interface at some point in the electromagnetic field, its ultimate source being the nous.

Nodin’s third law of Nous is crystal clear and states that “Nous permeates animate matter as well as inanimate matter”. The class master explains this to mean that everything in the material world as well as the cosmic world have its source from the Nous. They are either affected by the Vital force or the Spirit, both sourcing from the Nous.

Concluding the monograph, the class master explained the fourth law of Nous which states that, “On our material plane, the manifestation of Nous is predominantly negative. On the spiritual plane, it is predominantly positive”. This just embosses the point that has been made multiple times in the monograph about the spirit being the negative polar dimension of the nous, and the vital life being the positive one. But in their manifestations, the spirit is said to manifest itself positively on the physical or material plane while the positive Vital force acts or manifests negatively on the spiritual plane in the same manner.

This particular monograph is built on the lessons of the Nodin Manuscript. The lessons focus on existential knowledge about the cosmos, the ether and our existence. Nodin’s manuscript offers explanation for topical issues like existence, the relationship between matter, atoms, molecules and protoplasm, and the role of Ether in the material as well as in the immaterial world.

The Imperator, Christian Bernard stressed in his letter to members of the Rosicrucian Order the importance of the first three temple degrees that familiarize us on the topics of life, consciousness and matter. The fourth degree, to him, is all about knowledge that explains how the inner self can be provoked into conscious thoughts, leading to its manifestation. He stated that a pre-requisite for it is to preview lessons on such techniques as mental projection, visualization, meditation among others.

The class master gave insight into the man behind the Nodin Manuscript, Nodin himself. According to the class master, information about Nodin’s personal life was not really known but Nodin could be said to be a very knowledgeable member of the Order. Many of his lessons reflected Rosicrucian beliefs to a very great extent, and are being used by class masters, imperators and Grand masters to make and explain monographs. The focus of Monograph 1 of the Master Monograph, according to the class master was just to pinpoint some of the very essential laws of the Nodin Manuscript, as they relate to the Order and to the subject of Ontology.

The etymology of ontology was revealed, with its meaning translating as “the science of being”. In Rosicrucian terms, it means the study of the laws that govern life, matter and consciousness. Rosicrucian ontology entails the study of the three forces that factor in the order, which are the soul, the spirit and the vital force (in no particular order). These forces according to previous monographs are all distinct on the plane where they act, but are of the same origin i.e. the Ether. All cosmic life and even the law of duality are believed to source from the Ether and holds value for the Rosicrucian Order due to the belief stemming from notable Greek philosophers and earlier members of the order. The primordial energy is said to be bipolar, having the Universal soul and the nous or noose as poles. Previously, the universal soul was assigned a positive value while the negative pole was the nous/noose. Like the primordial energy, the spirit is also considered to be of dual nature and possess both positive and negative polarities.

First Method Anatomy
This is the anatomy of the first experiment which can be found in the Section Initiate Degree 7, Monograph 1. This exercise is one of two experiments that are taught by the class master to help healers diagnose patient’s psychic body. This first experiment will help us find where the illness is and how it should be treated. Again, this is something that takes practice and patience like most things in life. For anyone who has never read, tried or even heard of this before, it is actually a procedure that is used by a lot of spiritualistic healers. It can be considered a “placing on of hands” in a really broad sense but I’m not talking about priest in a tent here. It is more of an aura cleansing ritual. The exercise works because when a person is ill their aura will interact with ours. What’s special about this exercise is that it works through the sensation of warmth or coolness. This section numbered 15, discusses “healing through colour”, the vibrations of colours, how they relate to the aura and how these they are used to diagnose and treat various ailments. In the beginning of this monograph S.G. Miron is quoted as saying “All living things are surrounded by a field of electromagnetic energy. Radiations from this field are waves of colour surrounding bodies, and their total aggregate is called the aura. The aura is closely related to the psychic body and to the vital life force, animating all the cells of our being.” This means that the aura is a simple way to look at our current health and because of this connection it shows us any energy imbalances that we might be experiencing. So, if someone is sick or has an illness, their aura would look dark and broken in places which would make it easier for us to diagnosis and treat through psychic means.

Diagnosis and treatment of the aura are both effective with patience and practice. However, there can be a lot of negativity towards these practices by those who have never bothered to try them and sometimes there is negativity by those who have, such as Pierre S. Freeman a man who himself says he spent 24 years in AMORC. Freeman owns a blog where he talks about the many different monographs of AMORC and tries to discredit them as much as possible, however if anyone truly takes the time to read what he says, Freeman comes off as disgruntled and contradictory. In one post, he states that AMORC uses members to fatten their wallets. One is only left to assume that he is bitter due to personal unresolved issues.

In a letter that Freeman said he wrote that is available on his website, for some unknown reasons demands to have questions answered about topics most would assume he already knows about for certain after being a part of AMORC for so long. One of his questions is asking if “AMORC encourages members to practice medicine without a license?” he further elaborates on this question with hubris and answers it himself with an answer that only advances his agenda.

I am going to break this down a bit more simply because it is a perfect example for this particular section. In Freeman’s answer to his own question he states that “the monographs teach members to heal scientifically, utilizing a combination of visualization, positioning the hands on the subject’s physical body and breathing but without affording them any proof or evidence that such procedures work and without any medical or health certification whatsoever?”

If anyone who has never heard of AMORC or has no knowledge of any kind of spiritual healing and stumbled across this, they could possibly be concerned by this but the facts speak an entirely different story.

• There are numerous people, all over the globe of different religions apart from members of AMORC that practice the various spiritual healing techniques that the monographs describe. (Example: Every person who has ever had interest in spiritual healing who has picked up a book or even Googled about it; or any person practicing the Pagan/Wiccan faith.) Let’s face it; there are not a lot of spiritual healing doctorate courses going on at Harvard these days.

• More and more hospitals in the U.S. are incorporating these practices, like meditation into their traditional medicinal treatments, going for a whole body and mind approach to healing.

• Visit any local new age shop in your area and chances are they have services involving cleansing the aura, laying hands on the physical body, etc.

• Any person willing to take the time to practice the techniques and the patience to get them right can tell you that it works, that would be enough proof for most.

• Freeman makes frequent statements about the fact that nothing in the monographs is “scientific”. However, this is not accurate in the least bit. Interestingly enough, the scientific name for an aura is bio-plasma field, in physics, plasma is the 4th state of matter comprised of streams of ionized particles and scientists have proven the existence of the aura with Kirlian photography.

• The first pictures ever taken of the aura happened in Krasnodar, Russia in 1939 and since then thousands of scientific experiments all over the world have proven the existence of auras.

From the exhaustive list of bones there is listed such bones diseases as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, osteopetrosis, and bone fracture. He ended with an admonition on how to maintain bone health – avoiding bad postures, exercising regularly as well as having good nutrition every day. Unlike the views of Pierre S. Freeman, the monograph teaches to maintain their health through practical practices rather than just using Rosicrucian healing techniques.

This monograph encapsulates the goal of health, which involves its maintenance (good health) and the prevention of illnesses. The physical body is usually fraught with the manifestation of illnesses, whether its root causes are physical or psychical. With this in mind, it is quite commendable that the class master begins by letting us know more about our physical body, especially about its frame, the skeleton. The skeletal system of bones performs several functions but overall, its importance is to serve as a supporting system for tissues, organs, muscles and other internal organs as well as to give shape to the body through its torso. The class master also explained that marrows of bones are the site of blood manufacture for the body, and are incredibly important for proper function. Additionally, the bones in the skeletal system have serve as protector to various delicate internal organs such as the heart and lungs; which are protected by the sternum and rib cage respectively, while the cranium protects the brain.

Also, it was revealed in the course of teachings of the Section Initiate Degree 6, Monograph 3 that our bones are dichotomized into three types – the long bones, the short bones and the flat bones. The long bones are the marrow-containing bones consisting of a hollow space in the middle for blood production. Short bones in the skeleton helps the body make delicate movements. For example, the bones composing the hands and the feet make it easy for us to move and bend them in various positions. The last category of the bone dichotomy is the flat bones which are revered for their shock-resisting capabilities, which is due to their flexible and extensible nature. Bones in this category are the ribs, the skull, the pelvis and such other bones.

In furtherance of the anatomy of the physical body with respect to the skeletal framework, the spinal cord was also a topic of discussion. The 33 vertebrae-containing structure spans from the base of the skull to the neck or cervical vertebrae to the thoracic vertebrae (at the chest region) down to the ribs, ending at the lumber and sacrum. These five sections of vertebrae will be revisited in forthcoming monographs so members were enjoined to master them for future references.

The current monograph under review sheds more light on the subject of health and illnesses with a greater detail to the varying approaches to treating illnesses and the stance of modern medicine them. Preluding the lesson of the class master were Jacques Michaud’s quotations excerpted from one of his published works on esoteric medicine; where he stated categorically that all illnesses stem from the psychic body and not from the physical body, which is contrary to the allopathic belief. Please read the book by Jacques Michaud- Esoteric Medicines, Medicine of Tomorrow for more details on his point-of-view on illnesses, as it reflects the Rosicrucian perspective a great deal.

The class master, without much ado, commenced the second monograph of Section Initiate Degree 6 by stating the different stands about the origin of man. Explaining Human Evolution, he presented the view of the evolutionist, in that man evolved from a primitive version of himself. He describes how evolutionary development was said to be determined by a lot of elements including the environment’s impact on man and the ability to reason. It was stated that man has always been man; an entity with a soul. The difference between the modern man and the primitive man were described to be the development changes in their external body that took place prompted by demands placed on him by the external environment for his survival. The first evolutionary stage saw man evolve into a species that could grasp objects with his hands, stand upright and his possession of opposable thumbs.

It was also made clear that we are not our physical body – a material prone to change as per the dictation of the environment. According to the Rosicrucian beliefs, our spirit (or soul if you like) is the source of our psychic body which is as real as the physical body. Good health becomes apparent and functional for a human with the care of both psychic and physical bodies. In other words, consciousness of the dual state of human existence will help produce better results on our health status. Unlike the claims of Pierre S. Freeman, the Rosicrucian view holds belief that a symphony of observance of both cosmic and natural laws, leads to good health as both laws are dichotomized to serve both the physical and the psychic body.

This monograph began with a brief recap of the lessons learnt from the previous Temple Degree i.e. Degree 5. The degree was all about prominent Greek philosophers of the past who in one way or the other had contributed to Rosicrucianism’s current status.

The current monograph under critical review shone great light on the subject of healing; especially on what it entails in the Rosicrucian context. But the class master thought in necessary that we recite the all-famous quote of renowned Greek healer and philosopher. The same quote is said to be the oath of service every medical practitioner takes before taking a practical step into treating and healing patients. The analysis of the words from the oath i.e. the Hippocratic Oath reveals a pledge to adhere to ethical requirements of the medical profession and a promise of selfless service to the profession above personal gains. The Oath is said to be a road map to guide Rosicrucian followers into the application of the laws on healing that are taught in the sixth temple degree.

The class master then begins the monograph emphasizing that the goal of the lesson was not to make one a healer, but to highlight the principles that will help them achieve good health. He also gave a caveat of caution to Rosicrucian members not to monetize the knowledge of healing being taught in the monograph. Notable points made included the fact that scientific medicine is of the belief that diseases originate from the physical body, whereas in the real sense, according to the monograph, some physical discomforts emanate from the psychic body. This perspective of the Rosicrucian Order AMORC i.e. that the reason sickness does not source from the physical body alone, is the duality of our being; is noted to now be bought into by a few physicians.

On the topic of health and illness, it was taught that there are two key areas that help us get ahead in terms of good health - the prevention of illnesses and maintenance of health. That is to say when illness is prevented and health is maintained, ailments will have no place in the physical body. However, the monograph’s class master warns against erroneous beliefs such as that the laws of health taught by the Rosicrucian are miraculous and work for all pathological conditions. Rather, the laws thought were just to realign the minds of members towards the position to be at, whether physically, mentally or otherwise, to ensure that health is maintained and diseases are prevented by averting negative vibrations of ill-health. This point right here is enough proof that nullifies the false statement made by Pierre S. Freeman regarding the Rosicrucian healing techniques.

In lieu of the theme of the monograph currently under review, which is psychic projection; monograph number 6 caps up the Section Initiate Degree 7 showing ways through which mastery of this noble mystical Rosicrucian art can be achieved by all kinds of Sorors and Fratres. The monograph advises that in order to achieve said mastery on the art of psychic projection, one must use visualisation as the main tool. This deep visualisation helps the practitioner achieve successful projection to the psychical realm and ensuring travel to a desired location on other planes. The monograph explains how a concentrated focus on the precise mental image of the exact location helps achieve psychic projection on the planes of the desired location. Additionally, visualization is not just helpful in extracting the exact destination of psychic travel; it can also be used to connect with people and transfer messages without being physically present with them. Even though the uses of visualization are more than one, the lesson in the monograph, was restricted to explaining its use to achieve a precise location in the road mastery of the art of psychical projection.

The lesson in the monograph then moves on to teach an experiment that will help other practitioners achieve psychic projection. The experiment in question is Experiment 45 that is tagged as Projection to a Location, and leans from the previous Experiment 44 (please refer to the monograph for the experiments). The experiments begins by advising the practitioner to wash their hands to show humility to the cosmos, then drink a glass of water and assume the sitting position as described in Experiment 44. To begin the process, the projector must recite the meditative invocations required, that are: "May the Divine Essence of the Cosmic infuse my being and cleanse me of all impurities of mind and body, that I may enter the Celestial Sanctum and attune in pureness and worthiness. Mote It Be!"
The class master advises practicing visualization of thoughts on the location of interest while reciting the invocation. Upon successful visualization, the barriers of the physical body on the psychic body will break down and the psychic body will escape to the desired locus. The psychic body will be projected to the plane as directed by the astral fluid concentration, while still having connection with the physical body with the virtue of the silver chord.

According to the class master, the feeling you experience when your physic body is on the outside of the physical realm, is that of pure pleasure. It should be noted that at this phase of intense pleasure at the thymus felt when one focuses thoughts powerfully on the desired location, the chances of being projected to that exact location are high. This is especially even more powerful when such visualization produces a very vivid mental representation of the desired location.
The Section Initiate Degree 7, Monograph 6 teaches us that although visualization aids projection of our psychic body, it cannot achieve complete success alone. There are plenty of other techniques that can go together with the visualizing process to optimize results. For example, techniques like repeating vowel sounds and deep breathing can help reinforce projection and reduce chances of failure of projection.
