Not seems, definitely is!! Quebec is much cheaper, especially compared to the West Coast. When I visited Montreal, I was shocked by how cheap food was. Sherbrooke will probably be cheaper. How's the winter over there? Nogen: My sister! Scary is an understatement. Life in Quebec seems cheaper . Sherbrooke is so calm like you live in Enugu/Jos kind of life but you have to speak French. You really can't do much here without French. I came back to see my husband and a hotel staff who came to tidy up our room struggling to communicate. As soon as the lady sighted me, she heaved a sign of relief! She was a like, "We have been struggling to communicate. Your husband doesn't speak French and me, I don't speak English. Two of us suddenly turned to deaf and dumb using only hands and legs". I laughed so hard. |

You can't argue with these numbers, but I doubt this is affecting her ad revenue at all. Nigerian brands continue to sheepishly advertise on her blog because she's famous. I love LIB and visit it everyday, but it is probably the most poorly designed website I've seen in a while. |

Part of the fun of going to a new country is trying new food. Bring a snack in case you get hungry on the plane/in transit, not because you're looking for the "perfect restaurant" or too scared to try new food. |

Celebrities › Re: TY Bello Photographs An Agege Bread Seller Into Fame by shilling(f): 10:53am On Feb 01, 2016 |
I don't think it was stage managed. My guess is that the girl is a bread seller, but TY edited the photo and her outfit making her look much better in the final photo than the photo on the right. Either way, judging by the photos, the girl is quite photogenic but she looks basic in person (which is why TY didn't bother getting her contact info before she left) . SeanDada1:

TY= Lair Mohammed TY is trying to make her story look similar to Oluchi Onweagba Orlandi's real life story. She started hawking breads long ago in the streets of ojuelegba, western avenue surulere before she was discovered my modella and co. She later won MNET face of Africa, hence her rise from poverty to stardom!!!
I quite disagree with her story. The photo session must have been probably stage-managed. |
Celebrities › Re: TY Bello Photographs An Agege Bread Seller Into Fame by shilling(f): 10:51am On Feb 01, 2016 |
I think TY photoshopped the girl's outfit (basically made the dress longer, which is why it looked different in the earlier picture) and edited the photo so it looked like night. It was probably taken early evening. dumo1: same girl different dress & leggings. is there something I am missing here? |

CityNG: Speaking more of slip and fall. Tile floor with sweat. The fact that she's squatting does not mean that the floor is wet with sweat, and it's hard to draw conclusions on the safety of her routine based on these pictures. Also, yes, her shoes do help. You do not have to get weight lifting shoes and there are many other links on the internet that differ with the link you posted. OP, I love that she lifts but her form isn't great. The weight should be supported with her core and her chest should be more upright. |
Travel › Re: Xenophobia: View Of A Nigerian Living In SA by shilling(f): 8:55am On Apr 29, 2015 |
jeffizy: Better watch your back and stop being the apologist. This is brilliant. The OP sounds like those ridiculous blacks in the US that deny racism exists. I lived in Botswana for 4 years, enough time to know that Southern Africans can be very lazy and rely on undocumented immigrants to do the jobs that they're not interested in. Then they complain that jobs are being stolen from them. Xenophobia is classed and raced. I was in Botswana as a young teenager and my classmates, bus (combi) drivers, etc often made xenophobic comments. That's where the class aspect comes into play. As the child of working professionals, the xenophobia I experienced was never violent. Uncomfortable but not violent. When youre of a lower income status, and your life is worth less, xenophobia can be violent. It's classed (and raced) because where are the attacks on the white foreigners? |

This is awesome. I live in Canada (have lived in the States) and won't move back. However, I have to say your analysis is spot on! If there are reasons to move back, you've outlined the most important ones in your post below. Absolutely spot on! ajkuti: Glamrock, I specifically signed up on Nairaland after reading your post on "10 reasons why you're moving from America" and I showed your topic to my wife and informed her I would register on this forum just to encourage you. You have a family in us any day sis. You are making the right move sista, you can't go wrong.
A brief history of my background and why I was easily drawn to your posts and why we share similar experiences:
1. Born and raised in Lagos and moved to the U.S at a young age. I left Nigeria in October 1993 and never came back until January 2015! Yup, 21 straight years! I last resided in Florida after having lived in Atlanta and Boston. Coming back to Nigeria was interesting as I saw it through the eyes of a foreigner having been away for so long! I wowed in amazement seeing how developed Nigeria truly is although most of the locals are blind to this reality. They crave glitters while I crave understated beauty and simplicity. They crave excess, while I crave contentment. They praise the AmeriKKKan white man because they have no prolonged first time experience of how evil he is and how he's disagreeable to anyone of African ancestry. |

Hakagure: How will OP make 400 a week without work permit? They will never pay you minimum wage, even mickey d needs high school diploma and do e verify. Ever heard of ICS raids? If OP impersonates another person the first day OP gets pulled over na 3 Days jail while they check if OP is isis. No judge no court no nothing, please don't lie to this people, let them have a plan when they come, not via modern day human trafficking cos the sister cant pay for child care or worse. Who is lying to him? Not me... Obviously, that statement was made under the impression that he was coming into the US LEGALLY. We all know it won't take 6 months. My point is that when deciding if he should move, he should take into account that N75k is not much, and at minimum wage, he will make more than N75K. Also the number of undocumented immigrants who get deported are a small fraction of those living and working in the US 'under-the-table' for numerous years. Many have taken that option and are working fulltime in the US and Canada. Obviously, there is a reason why they are doing so and I respect their decision. And yes I have lived and worked in both countries and still do. |
