Without being controversial. If you don’t train the ones in Nigeria, they will be spoilt, vice versa to UK. Having said that, that respect thing is very sentimental, while a girl trained in Nigeria knows how to do eye service and win the heart of the In-Laws, the UK one can be genuine and might not be great in kneeling down, reasons: maybe the only people she kneels down to are parents and there’s no uncle, aunty etc around compare to Nigeria where you have loads of them. The UK one will have to be told your aunty is coming next week remember to kneel when you see Her. UK/USA etc trained Nigerian children are out-spoken, they will challenge you if you bullshit them, you can’t get away with the “respect your elders” when elder is doing something wrong. There are 16 year olds UK children that already work and pay rents, mind you they are not poor, its not like when the parents are poor and you are forced to sell bananas on the street. I mean they have a sense of I need to work and make a living. I also know loads of well trained how to kneel down over 30 years old lazy Nigerians that still asks for constant hand outs from Daddy and Mummy. In conclusion, UK trained children(I mean trained not leaving your children to be wayward) and Nigerian trained children (I mean trained again) are the same unless you get intimidated with their outspokenness and obviously prefer the ones that you can step on like a piece of rag. |
Very Nice!!. we need to build our own bridges( I guess there are Civil and Structural Engineering graduates in Nigeria) The government too should set up a state owned civil engineerign company that builds all these infrastructures, The chinese are making a fortune from these projects. Check the extract from their website below: In recent years, CCECC has achieved rapid development, undertaking and executing numerous significant projects ranging from railway, light rail, expressway to bridges, buildings, and municipal works. CCECC has successfully signed the contracts for many large-scale projects in the past three years, such as Nigeria Railway Modernization Project (Abuja-Kaduna Section) (contract value:850 million USD) in 2010; Ethiopia Mieso-Dawanle-Djibouti Port Railways Project (contract value: 1.98 billion USD) and Chad Railway Network EPC Project (contract value: 5.631 billion USD) in 2011; Nigeria Railway Modernization Project (Lagos-Ibadan Section) (contract value:1.487 billion USD), Nigeria Badagery Express Road Project (contract value:941 million USD) and Niger Railway Project (contract value:998 million USD) in 2012. The number of CCECC’s projects in hand amounted to 242 with a total contract value of 19.2 billion USD by the end of 2012, which in turn guarantees CCECC for its sustainable business development and ever growing strength for project contracting. |
My contribution to this issue is that, the man should have confessed He doesn’t know it or say He will confirm the website during a commercial break. For example if your department is Project managing within a company, I don’t think you are obliged to know the recruiting website, for an HR personnel, yes very compulsory. I don’t believe Executives, Managers, Directors know the recruiting websites of their company, if they know, absolutely good for them. I as a person cannot tell you the name of the website of the company I work for off-Heart. I will have to confirm it. The mistake He made was trying to force His way through what He doesn’t know and made a ridicule of Himself on national TV. As for the “my Oga on top” phrase, very funny, cant stop laughing, but Hey, that’s the English He understands, How many of our Nigerian graduates can be interviewed for 30 minutes and not make any blunder. I’ve heard a graduate call a Radio station during a programme and His grammar includes as-in, se you get, me I don’t know o etc. every 10 seconds. |

shdemidemi: The rate at which these sort of messages hit the front page of nairaland, t.v stations, radio stations and every corners of our neighborhood, The real gospel could go extinct. What is this? teaching the church to live by works.Must you find error, He did not say good works prove your righteousness, He said there are some things that need to be done that cant be left. An example of mine is a man/woman that does not know He’s due/ripe for marriage in every sense will continue to waste away which is directly proportional to not fulfilling destiny, You don’t like the tone of His sermon because he used Tithes, Preaching, Giving. Even if you have a job to do and don’t do it on time, it looses all validity. I dont think he was talking about good works rather doing what you have to do on time as everything has its time and chance |
@Ganys All is still vanity, even if you create impact or not. Whether you gave £1 Billion away to charity or you're as bad as a brutal Dicatator. The most importatnt is to make Heaven....And as far as I know, theres only one way. Jesus |
What the west see as Africa is that traditional and humble story. It's funny how the Omotolas and Nse Nke Etims of this world are not invited. This might be unrelated to the thread, there is a documentary on BBC that airs everyday for some weeks now titled AFRICA.I was surprised to see the whole content of the documentary to be elephants, shallow rivers, snakes, insects, valleys etc. while it's not bad to show the world the great safaris and game reserves in Africa, it seems to me that the story that sells with as an Africa sourced story cannot look like shinny Hollywood but rather look like plantations(just a description). This also makes me to ask why the popular writers from Africa wrote about wars, political corruption majorly and pure fiction writers are not ceremoniusly celebrated worldwide. Africa is big and blessed enough to patronise itself and the world will come searching and asking.Ask China,South Korea, UAE, Singapore etc. Just a thought. |
The writer of this article is soooo wrong. As a diasporian myself, I look forward to the good of Nigeria and embrace it, and educate Europeans about Nigeria. Have you not learnt that write-ups/articles cannot be written in a generalised/conclusive/judgemental manner. That's writing basic 101. YOU CANNOT GENERALISE!!!!!!!.How many Nigeria in diaspora do you know.Maybe a few do that, Oh well! Stop having a headache about it, there few people in Nigeria that probably hate/dislike the west as well and say unfriendly things about it. |
You guys should stop assessing His English. Universities such as Harvard respect people from diverse areas, such as science, rap music, classical, literature etc. They certainly believe their students can learn something from M.I and obviously Okonjo Iweala. You will be surprised at the people that has given a lecture at Harvard before .Dizee Rascal etc. Do you really think Harvard expects Him to speak the Queens English of a Cambridge university English professor? They want to hear what he has to say which I believe can educate their faculty in a peculiar way. |

I've been reading and following the comments of everyone from page 1 to page 3.Without been sentimental, baby_123 appears as someone who thinks she knows it all. Also, an African woman has never represented a door mat, every day thousands of women are abused across the world, In the UK alone, statistics says 2 women are killed every week in the UK due to domestic violence(Only God will help us). There are thousands of women that can be termed as "door mats" and have been living with abusive spouse for years in even the most modern part of the world. I grew up around women that were highly valued by husband, brothers etc in Nigeria. I am tired of the general opinion that an African Woman is a mugun and a door mat to Her husband. Baby _123, you can’t have an ethic of “I will abuse my Husband if He steps out of bound” there are sure other ways, also I will not condone a man that does not respect His wife. As we know light begets light, I think a woman should get a man that will conform to her way of life, but then again, there is no perfect Human being, your strategy can’t be “I will abuse my husband to the core as soon as he does what I don’t like. You can only be termed as a husband abuser. Maybe I took your points out of context. Also, you’ve been kind of rude on this thread. I’m sorry if I might have offended you. I don’t want to be insulted. |
Of course, there is love without money or Love is still possible with poverty. We need to be careful in this our Nigeria. What do we call money, is it when a guy works for a multi-national company and earn millions a year or when He has a potential and earn a decent <60,000 naira a month that will barely get Him through if He lives in Lagos. In the UK, the mentality of a man will buy me a jeep blah blah blah is unreal, as far as people have adequate income and ready for marriage, they go into it with the person they love and live a joint life. (I’m not saying this happens everytime) but this mentality of a guy will do everything for me is absolutely for the so called Bimbos or Essex girls not for a lady that has a vision. We need to realise that not everyman will have a jet or work for Shell. As far as a man has a job and a dream and also happy, then He has the right to have a woman that is hard working too and will also support His dream, then God will bless their bread and water and increase them. At the end of the day, its poverty and third world mentality that cause all these issues. Yes you can love your spouse with little, more and much!!! |
The starter of this post is crazyyyyyyyyyyyy. Hakeem Olajuwon = 2 NBA Champion, most valuable player(once) NBA finals MVP(2),NBA defensive player of teh year(twice), Hall of famer, teh second greatest player after Jordan in teh 90's, 27,000 points approximately, Part of NBA 50 anniversary team, olympic winner Jeremy Line = Has huge potential(Yes a big one,I'm a fan), Undrafted, has a possibility of going bust regardless of Linsanity, undrafted played 10 games averaged 22ppg. You are crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy |
Thor:There is something called Purchasing Power Parity.if you know that, you wont start this thread.Even without subsidy our petrol should be cheaper.Nigeria is the only country in Opec oil producing countries to import petrol. That is why its is still expensive. If we refine oil at home we are talking about 40naira per litre or slightly higher. But the gangsta cartels wont like that. |
I don't know about tigers or hunting, but I believe the modesty and virtuosity we all saw in our Mothers growing up is really scarce in our ladies nowadays and all thanks to westernisation. There is no problem in having make-ups, hair extensions, etc. But there is a big problem when these things replaces your true value as a woman and mother of kids to come. |
Personally, I cant see why a normal messaging service should be causing tension in a marriage. People have really taken this BB stuff too far. I got my first blackberry in April 2008 before every Tom, Dick and Harry had it and never used the IM service for almost 6 months. We need to realise that its just a feature on a phone just like SMS, video call e.t.c. I have been to parties where people spend hours on their BB and not talking to people on their table. Its ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! |
She was a neighbour of mine few years ago, Very nice girl.Really sad |
