PoliticsRe: Lagos Smart City Project Model by shine12: 1:29pm On Jun 24, 2016
Another avenue for a white elephant project that will siphon money and make the rich to get richer. Why do we like to fly before we can walk? Our houses and cars still get flooded due to lack of basic drainage system, we lack basic transport and power infrastructures and we are jumping to smart city that is not even procured in the most developed nations of the world. Let’s have our trains, bridges, airports, water system and electricity working to the standard of normal Iran, Turkey or Thailand before thinking of smart city.

gabazin080:
i used to hear people say dis always. when something happened you see people say its GOD, that God knows about it. they say he already knows and has programmed everything that will happen to humans. if this is true then it means if I sin now he already knows I will. it means he already knows I will create this topic today. it also means am not @ fault for any sin I commit because he has already programmed my activities and know I will sin.
I asked my boss who happens to be a pastor dis question and his reply didn't answer my question. so nairalanders I want your views on this. is it true GOD has known everything that will happen to us
Answer:God is His infinite wisdom did not create robots, He gave you a will, just like how he told the Israel that they can choose between life and death but they should choose life that they may live.
There are always two paths in every situation, the evil part and the good part,of course God's know the two paths and He wills for you to walk in the good part but it's up to you if you will obey and follow Him.
We are not like the trees or other creatures who just simply stay where they are and do the same thing daily, just like the sun,it rises and sets everyday and never says He is tired of rising, but we human are different,we have a mind and will to do either the good God wants or our own way which might lead to sin and ultimately death.

America does not simply control the oil in Texas but the railroad commission of Texas. Allocating oil wells to a man in Northern Nigeria because he is an ally of the ruling Head of State/president should end.

People keep forgetting that Ooni is a 42 yrs old man who had friends before he became Ooni and he has decided that he would not allow his title to separate him from people/friends. For all I know, they could be friends, Obafemi could also be in his late 30s and not his football age of 31yrs.

I'm ashamed of everyone saying the girl is at fault as well that She has no case.

The z-grade lecturer is using His yeye power of being a lecturer to coarse the girl, of course at that stage in life as a student in Unilorin, She is scared that he will fail her. If that man has no power at all to determine her grade, would she even touch Him with a barge pole.

We have people like this in all walks of life, policemen, lecturers, politicians, Pastors etc who use their authority to cheat people and also exploit the weak.

Hate him or like him, the grace upon the head of this man can't be hidden. Take a look at it closely, Presidents of nations are not welcomed more than this. The factor, "grace"
Grace to the African man is money, not victory of sin. The said man is a man of God who has a broken marriage. If Grace is full in his life, then he should not have a broken marriage. Simple!!

I see successful CEOS in the secular world with broken marriages, you know what, such men have achieved a lot and yet failed in the very first calling and assignment of their lives (their marriage). Now a MOG who is meant to be light of the world has the same broken marriage testimony just like many in the world, yet we overlook and say grace is upon Him because he flies private jet. I have nothing against him o, but what God will judge is faithfulness in your calling not the amount of flashy and material possessions you used.

I hope you know that it is God's primary will for us not to be slaves to sin and evil. We mistake material blessings as proof that we have God's approval. What about those rich mafia, Saudi royals, secular business conglomerate. I don't think any human race had miracles and provisions from God than the nation of Israel, yet in 1 Corinthians, the Bible says they were all destroyed because of what?? See below in 1 Corinthians 10:2-5]

all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. [1 Corinthians 10:2-5]

I for one will never use material blessing as a confirmation whether grace is mightily upon someone because unbelievers tend to have money than believers.

Lmao @ Wizkid.

So cos Skepta introduced him to Drake and got Drake to jump on the Ojuelegba remix with him. And Drake who loves ghost writers decided to put Wizkid's name on a chart-topping tune that sounds like a classic UK garage tune from 2008 (I bet whoever wrote "one night" copied the sound from that tune), he's now big enough to dethrone King D'Banj, no? - hysterical. Heck, I saw Wizkid dancing in skinny jeans on a car to Skepta's "man" tune on Skepta's insta, as a form of appreciate to the don who gave him that Drake connect. grin

To even get close to D'banj - he needs to make an "Oliver Twist", top a lot of international charts, and perform at the prestigious Glastonbury festival (only Fela Kuti, his sons, and D'banj have performed there out of Africa, I think).

Err, out of all the noisemakers in naij, only Davido has the talent and the consistency to surpass D'banj. I can't bet on wizkid. The rest are clowns. While the women have zero talent and zero sex appeal. grin
I'm not taking anything away from Him but just want to point at the Glastonbury you mentioned, there are different stage in Glastonbury. He did not certainly perform on the main stage.

The problem is not the use of loud speakers, but they should contain the sound inside the church. There is no need to put the speakers on the streets when the congregation are within.

Be careful what you wish for... You know churches (Oyinbo churches) in europe are mostly state financed so there no need to for them to collect money from the members. But it comes at a cost. Don't be surprised if the church says its Ok to be gay and that they will perform the ceremony for the gay couple. Because the churches can't say no less they lose the government's support.
Those are state churches like Church of England. There are numerous independent of "the state" churches that are fully New covenant churches and do not need any man's money. They simply follow the new testament model of the Church commissioned by Christ.
Christianity EtcRe: My Experience At Church Service In Germany by shine12:
Schwartz:
No multiple offerings: the offering basket is usually close to the exit door. In the three churches in three different cities I attended I have never heard a call for offering. At the end of the service as you exit you may choose to drop an offering, any amount of your choice.

No special seat for anyone: No special seat or special recognition for any titled person or senior politician etc. Nobody cares if you got money or not. No one is treated differently by the pastor or any member. Persons called to take the mic few times are people who are involved in missionary works. To intimate the congregation on efforts so far. Some people here just live to do missionary work alone. Its amazing.

Every one is friendly: Its kind of intimidating being the only black around. The members want to know your name, what you do, where you are from and what's happening with you. Everyone introduces themselves with a smile and a handshake. They make you feel at home, like a brother. I remember when we were told to wait for Mexican food because the Mexicans in the church were celebrating their anniversary. After taking food, I sat at a corner to eat. Lo and behold everyone was calling me to come seat with them and eat. It felt nice smiley
I have the same experience in the church I now attend in the UK as I finally left a popular Nigerian Church that has branches almost everywhere here in the world.

I rejoice and congratulate you brother for finding such a Church. What you listed above fits with the true church description in Acts. I have paraphrased some features below which we have going on in our church and I know you have similar in your church too.

Leadership is plural and never one Oga Pastor.

Giving is emphasised to be cheerful and not grudgingly.

Most people are generous givers and give through direct debit and money is never a major item on the sunday program itinerary, therefore money is under our feet and not on top of our head.

No ego,no special people who are close to the Senior leader (Or Pastor)

No beauty competition dressing among the sisters. (Of course we are not perfect).

Major emphasis on prophecy, every Sunday we (people) prophesy and they've been true.It doesn't have to be one single well respected Pastor. Most Nigerians can confirm that when other normal brothers say something like He heard from God in a typical Nigerian church, people don't believe and people only believe its serious when it's one major Pastor saying it.

No profiteering from heavenly spiritual gifts (I'm not talking about secular talent)I mean asking money for prayer,or asking money to sing to God.

Certainly no superstar. In the same congregation, there are people that design aircraft structures, prison workers, low income people,IT consultants and alcohol addiction recoverer, but you will never know.Nobody respects anyone based on their profession but do love one another as fellow brother or sister.

I can go on and on.There is need of a Godly reform and true revival in the Nigerian church. It is very plain and simple.

Anyway I celebrate with you brother for finding such a church even though we know there is no perfect church.

1. why are u moving from church to church?

2. as for the loudspeaker issue, the reason we use them here is that our congregations are usually very large sometimes running into thousands. Don't for forgot the largest church in the world which is over 50,000 capacity in a single auditorium is in Nigeria, how do you address such a crowd without a public address system? Thought I must confess though, there are a few small churches who have no business with loudspeakers but use them anyway...

3. As for the one about pastors and their ego, well i think you're 99.995% right.
I beg to differ on the loud speaker one. I think most people can relate on too loud loudspeakers in most Nigerian churches. You know when you use 50db mic for an auditorium with only a 20db requirement.

I discovered at Nigerian weddings that We (Nigerians) are all the same.We criticise the elites of the society that they use connection to fix people up but wait till you see connections in Nigerian wedding when you can't have the small chops without knowing someone. I once saw a table with about 10 people but with only three people having the well prepared starters and don't simply care about the rest on the table. You simply have to hustle your own food.

Well, foreigners do the same for America and other Asian countries .
No I don't agree the company I work for and many I’ve seen never penetrate the construction industry of American, I asked why?
The Answer: America does not like/allow foreign companies to build their roads and bridges.

Go and check the major California rail projects currently going on, they are mostly designed by Bechtel, Jacobs etc.

Of course you can use foreign expertise to enhance what you have, it is not uncommon to see a foreign company building a structure in the UK, but when you go foreign all the time and have no home alternative, then your Engineers will be mediocre, there will be capital flight and also your national security is in jeopardy as they know where to attack during war.

Can't nigerians build their roads without the input and assisstance of foreigners? In a country of millions, we depend on foreigners to build roads, find, drill, sell and refine oil, we depend on foreigners to manage our national football team.
This country sucks big time.
Your point on foreigners building our infrastructures has always worried me.
If it is not foreign it’s not good enough in Africa.
If it’s not foreign in Nigeria it’s never respected.
There is still no major project that is led by an African design or Construction company, it must be foreign. The foreign multinational companies even laugh at us. What is the point of teaching these courses in our Universities.

I agree with you on the type of Education curriculum instilled by the colonial masters. I believe the main reason Nigeria and most African nation are lagging behind in infrastructural development and why our airports looks like a local bus station of Poland, poor Utilities, middle age books in libraries, technology, 35% connected to National grid and bad roads is a mixture of corruption, lack of vision and mediocrity. You can agree with me that being smart is not the problem of a Nigerian. Take a Nigerian student to go and study abroad, He/she will come on top of the class. Our medical students can recite the whole human digestive system off heart. Some problems are listed below:

University Funding – No Nigeria University has a major endowment fund used for research. Every single year, our centre of learning still close down , it is not uncommon to see 2000 students cramped up in a lecture theatre been taught with a very small blackboard.
Poor Technology and laboratory – Which Nigeria University can boast of a Civil Engineering laboratory that can be used to perform a simple buckling test on a column.

Corruption - I’m not talking about state and federal level, even if the funds managed to get through the state, the Dean or VC will still steal His own share.

Zero Faith in Nigeria by Nigerians due to years of disappointment, I can testify that 90% of all the brilliant students I know have left the country on graduation and are doing very well as Doctors, Engineers etc. in overseas.

I can’t believe we still bring Lebanese, Egyptians to build our roads, these people will not even be contracted to build toilets in the UK.

I've had interest in Energy from waste, but after going through my research, it seemed like a tall dream to achieve cause we don't have anyone with that kind of expertise. Glad to see a Nigerian with immense experience in the structural aspect. We really need something of this nature in the country, it's long overdue.
Yes, Energy from Waste plant can potentially be one our energy solutions in Nigeria. I was even discussing it with a much more senior Engineer the other day about bringing it across Africa and He said that it’s very possible in Nigeria especially but the constraint will be the procurement of the construction process and as you said it’s really a tall order (it can definitely be done) To me the issue is with the funders. I do have contact of process plant suppliers. Once someone can get a developer with money to spend, it can be built in Nigeria, it’s about convincing the Alikos, Tinubus of this world to fund it. The one I’m currently working on has a capacity of 20MW which will produce a monthly equivalent of 11,520MW.h.
The funny thing about the waste is that the plant operators buy wastes as far away as Germany and bring to the UK to use as a source of energy.
