Thanks for using the best picture those empires have to offer then and compare to the worst picture Africa has to offer now. We both know that only 0.1% of the Arab/British nations look like that 100s of years ago.

boluyongp:
@OP: it reflects you are still very much American in your mindset, you need to change that first if you are going to cope in Africa. Begin to think like an African, speak like an African and act like an African. Saying "Your resources" for instance instead of "Our" is not a good sign from you at all. Also, Africa is not a country, it is a continent made up of 54 countries. You also did not tell us what country in Africa you have your roots from or want to relocate to. I suspect you are partly Ghanaian sef. Africa isn't all about war and poverty, we are not that backward, go to Cape Town or Abuja and you'll be surprised they are far more developed than Arkansas or Tulsa.
By the way, you are a beautiful lady and I like your face, wanna know you off nairaland.
Bro, you are comparing your Capital(Abuja) and Cape-Town(Top two cities in South Africa) to Tulsa(A city that might not make top 50 in the USA) and Arkansas (I don't think Abuja is more developed than Little Rock).
A fair comparison is to compare Abuja to Washington DC, Chicago or Houston

RomanceRe: Top Seven Reasons Why Broke Guys Should Not Date. by shine12: 8:11pm On Dec 03, 2014
Nonsense write-up.Absolute Nonsense
Real dating is dating towards marriage and simply not proceeding if you find out you are not for each other. People do have potential that grows into reality gradually.I guess what writer calls dating non broke guy is to date yahoo guy, rich man's son etc.
It's mentality like this that makes our young ladies to pick the wrong choice.
Real true and godly dating is one that does not depend on money but appraising one another.I'm sure Michelle did not choose Barack for money. She was even His senior in the law firm they both worked for.Ladies one thing to look for:Potential and whether you are attracted to Him.He must also treat you right. The money will follow if He is diligent in His work.

Typical Nigerian syndrome. Why make 1st class so hard to attain.I'm not saying you should dump it on students but if they work hard they should get it.I once had a lecturer that was so pissed that we got distinctions in our first year Physics exam and vowed that the highest will not be more than 48 in second year. His point was the previous lecturer made it easy. He was so right. it happened.Majority got 40%

SportsRe: Mourinho Leaves Mikel, Moses Out Of Chelsea Tour List by shine12: 4:53pm On Jul 23, 2014
This is the same Mikel that Man Utd and Chelsea were supposedly fought over. Why is it that the potential of Nigerina players does not get maximised.Do they relax when their is money or what? You'll see people like Ribery, Robben etc. They had potential 7-8 years ago and now the potential has metamorphosed into true reality. I don't understand.
I think where we should start is to ask ourselves "The reason why I'm doing it" is it purely for money's sake.
Obviously in terms of money, you dear not call Mikel and Moses a failure but your team excluding you from a pre-season list just means you are a surplus to requirement.

TravelRe: USA Or England: Which Is The More Racist Country? by shine12:
You can't use the fact that there are loads of black actors and sport men in the USA for the reason why it's racially tolerant, black Americans are attracted to physical sports and the colleges do recruit them to play sport and they find themselves in professional sport because they are good at it.
Having said that do you realise that majority of top blockbuster movies that is headlined by blacks are mostly slave/help/poor kids/inner city family/biography of a black sportsmen and musicians type of movies. Movies like The Help was was huge at the box office;storyline:A Black maid working Her ass off for white women,Precious,12 years a slave,The Butler,Ray,Django Unchained etc.Don't be fooled by Denzel,Will smith,50 cent and co they worked hard to become what they became, not because America allowed them to.Every year loads of black kids are shot by white police in the US.

My verdict:a black person will make it anywhere in the world if He or She is diligent enough, the chancellor of University of Exeter is black, hardly will you find a hospital in the UK without a highly regarded African Doctor. It is time for "blacks" to own the UK like the Indians,Pakistani,Bangladesh do and stop whining about whether they will accept them racially.
Also the US will have more blacks at top positions like a black being a CEO of Fortune 500 companies solely due to the slaves that stepped off the ship in the 1700s to 1850s who paid the price with their lives, blacks started living in the UK in huge numbers as recent as mid 50s,blacks are new to the UK while US blacks are fully integrated in the US. Even the African blacks that migrate to the USA can easily be taken as an African American and not as "Nigerian or Ghanaian" etc

Also a black child can easily end up not going to the University if He/She's parent does not have enough money in the US (Imagine how can being able to afford a University education depends on you being able to jump high like a chimpanzee and dunk a basketball that 99.9% of the fellow spectators are white any ways, this is modern day gladiators man), in UK you are guaranteed a government loan if you are a citizen and all you need is your grade.

Also, I know loads of black people in the UK doing really great and making a difference.

People will always be racist,so as Nigerians and the last time I listened to some Nigerian parents, they confessed how they will never allow their kids to marry people from a particular part of the country or the world.
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama's Law Professor On His Failures As President by shine12: 4:58pm On Nov 14, 2013
Lovetinz: He was a Professor,
He is still a Professor.
Obama was a student,
He is now President of the USA!
The Professor gave an honest opinion.Obama can be truly assessed to have failed majority of the American people with His policies,my own was the Homosexualism campaign, the finding founder surely turned in their graves for that. This in not about "President" which is OK for us Nigerians, people do celebrate as If they won a lottery when they become a local government chairman in Nigeria and don't realise they are there to serve. In the western word, people will not have a great opinion about you if you don't deliver.

There are Kings and there are Kings, there are Presidents and there are Presidents. Abraham Lincoln was President of the US over 100 years ago now and approximately over 30 has served as President after Him and yet since I was born I've always heard about the good of A.Lincoln than any President. Some refer Him as the greatest.

The fact that you are a President does not mean people will remember you for good. I guess the only history Obama will be making is that he was the first black President.

To me its Romans 12 but clearly in Romans 12:9-17

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[e]

I ask myself whether Nigeria can just have an educational system that will just work. It’s just a cycle that never stops. It happened during my time and happened during the ones before us and now again. Why cant the government just come to a resolution with the University lecturers and co.
I’m not predicting doom, but there will be a strike again in 2020, It just never stops. Arrrrhhhhh
This is why every talent wants to leave this country. All you need to do is go to LinkedIn and see tremendous amount of Nigerians doing great things in US, UK etc. A lot had their first degree in Nigeria but their beloved Nigeria frustrated them and they thought the only option is to leave and emigrate. Ridiculous amount of young Nigerian diasporans in Canada, UK, US, Eastern Europe.
Leaders of Nigeria please get it right unless the generations coming will erase you from history.

What about my work mate joking that I will be the one to represent them in a fight or I'm more prone to violence.
Media and mostly Hollywood has defined ethnic minorities as low class people, we need to re-educate ourselves.

Chinua achebe studied at UI.

TFA was conceived from start to finish, in nigeria.

I think diasporan literature should have its own genre and not be confused with indigenous literature.
Go and read my post very well.I'm talking about Chimamanda(She studied at Drexel, transffered to Eastern connecticut then post grad at John Hopkins and later Yale. She completed a fellowship at harvard last year. Yes Achebe studied at UI
LiteratureRe: Chimamanda's Comment About The Caine Prize Angers Writer by shine12: 2:34pm On Jul 16, 2013
She's not the best thing after Achebe and Soyinka. She wrote a book about Biafra(A controversial topic and stimulating book which had high reviews in the EU and USA).Half of a yellow sun announced Her to the world. She won the orange prize in 2007. I think Chimamanda had a huge exposure(Studied in USA and developed Her talent more) which worked for Her. I really like Her beacue She's young and not afraid to write what She wants to write. Americanah is not what legends are made of.

There is Ben Okri, Helon habila and lots more. I wont say She's next to Soyinka and Achebe.

jiffylibra: The problem is that we blacks take everything spiritual. What requires physical attention we approach it spiritually. Every little thing we cant explain is caused by 'aiye'. And many have lost their lives and that of their loved ones due to that because they fail to face reality.
I like your point. White people pray for people as well too and not taking them to the Hospital.

Its not a black thing its a situation where some christians lack understanding. You can take comeone to the hospital and pray for them there. But truly some sickness are beyond Hospital they need prayer and fasting. If you are demon possessed how can x-ray machine detect that.
CultureRe: Post your photos of Igbo village houses here by shine12: 11:15am On Jul 02, 2013
Bandit C.:
When i stayed in England for a year, i lived in Bucks, Aylesbury to be precise and the truth is, while their villages look good, they mostly consist of very old structures built in the late 18th century and early 19th century with wooden interiors. Even stairs are made of wood and their drainage systems are quite archaic.

England is backwards man so it does not count when talking about truly advanced European countries.

Don't know how often you move around but you need to visit other european countries like Switzerland or Germany to see how advanced European countries look like.

England is old, even their cities are old and they should spend their money meeting up to the rest of Europe rather than giving their queen a 5 percent raise.
Of course a country that had its own industrial revolution in the 1700s to early 1800s will be old. Rewind back 60 years ago, some oil rich gold countries such as UAE, Qatar were mere deserts. Those countries that we call nice are just building new infrastructures such as metro and sky scrappers with their new oil money. The London underground is over 100 years old and still running, even though the toll of it being old sometime catches up with it. UK is just maintaining what they’ve built decades ago. While most and newly developed countries are just building.

You can live in London without the need of a car and that’s a city of over eight million. How many people live in Zurich (Around 380,000, tahst like the population of Leicester, UK). UK has been able to integrate the high demand on its infrastructure with high rising influx of immigrants from the EU and non-EU countries. Whereas Switzerland is a small and modern country that has the world bank etc and where people go on holiday and also live to evade tax from UK et al in case you don’t know.

The fact that a city looks glossy and fine with new buildings everywhere and the country has a population of less than five million does not mean its cleaner/finer/better/richer. How many people are in Switzerland?

What a white man classed as a nice house is different from a black man’s own o, they like classic stuff, building like the palace of Westminster that was built in the middles ages and is still standing today. A white man will call a building with exposed rafters everywhere nice and classic, I once went to a hotel in Pontefract, Yorkshire, this hotel has a high reputation due to the history behind the building, I don’t really like it because it looks old and has low old wooden beams. You think they don’t have money to build a new one. They do! o, They like old and classic stuffs. I'm sure you've heard the joke that UK is a museum. Please don’t make that mistake as they don’t have money to build house. Do you want to re-build the largest underground network in the world because it’s old, we should even adopt their maintenance nature Abuja stadium built in just approximately ten years ago now looks tattered. Compare to stadiums around the world build 100 years ago and still looking nice. The key is maintaining, you can build new as much as you like, if you don’t maintain zero. England can build host the world cup today without the need to build one single stadium. Korea/Japan built almost all of the stadiums they used for korea/japan 2002.

UK is simply maintaining, UAE, China, S.Korea etc are just building

And the Aylesbury you stayed is just a country town and not even in top 150 places of nice place in the UK, it is a working class town. Its like saying I’ve lived in Obalende which is near Ikoyi, so because Obalende does not look nice does not mean Ikoyi doesn’t even though its just a stone throw away.

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking Elephant and Castle, Peckham, Woolwich etc as all what UK has to offer in terms of nice housing.Big Mistake! The best houses in the UK are in the countrysides of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire and places like wokingham,Cheshire, Surrey (Still lots more). Its funny when people compare Abuja(Top Nigerian purposefully built 21st century city) with the the lowest income communities in the UK.
The truth is a lot of us visit where we have families which are commonly woolwich, E&C,Peckham, some parts of Hackney.

The names you mentioned are like the Messis and Ronaldos of Tennis, that does not mean there are not good footballers like Hazard, Goetze Carzola etc.

Good News

• Nice that we are building.
• The Dams that are built in 21st century have thousands of Mwatts in capacity.
• China is booming their economy by building inflated mini-infrastructures for African countries
• All the major new dams China has built have a minimum of 2000 MW in capacity. E.g. Jinanqio Dam(“400MW), Guandi Dam(2400), they even have the largest dam in the world (Three Gorges Dam with a capacity of 22.5GW, that will solve Nigeria Energy problem)
• The range of 2000MW capacity dam is in the 1 Billion dollars and we build 700MW for over a billion dollars.
• We need to start building our own infrastructures.
• Same as the New Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge very nice and good, but over-inflated again.

Fadelex: d guy is active indeed.... He's never won a championship, never been in All star and never been a regular starter.... He has nothing to lose, He was traded to Washington Wizards earlier in d season and was released @ d end of the regular season. The guy has been receiving supports frm almost every NBA players bt i bet no one would wanna av a team-mate that could yansh him.... His career is absolutely over... Let Chris Bosh or Lebron James try it and see d repercussion..
Yes active, He was with the Wizards till the end of this 2013 season and now an unrestricted free agent. He hasn’t retired yet and I believe He’ll get a club.

On your All Star point, 80% of the league will never be selected as an all star in their career but will/can have a decent and excellent career ( The best players are repeatedly selected thorough their careers while only 3-5 additions every year, an average NBA career is 6 years, e.g. Kobe has been selected 15 times, ,Carmelo, Bosh, Lebron, Duncan and co have all been selected over 8 times.).
Also, 75% of the league doesn’t start. A team has 15 players and only five of them start, do the maths.

You can’t judge a basketball prowess of a player on Starting, All Star appearance and Championship won.

Charles Barkley never won a championship.

Jason Collins has had a near decent career, as for His sexuality of being gay, it is ungodly and sodomy. I pray He finds the truth.
FamilyRe: Married Men: Who's Your Next Of Kin And Why? by shine12: 4:23pm On Apr 24, 2013
50calibre: A wife is allowed to be next of kin only after she has proven her worth or mettle usually after a period of 15 - 20 years. else it has to be your mum. Mums are like next to God, they never fail you.
Then She too has to see her Dad as Her next of kin till you prove yourself for 15 to 20 years.

Even Mothers will call their Husbands next of Kin.

A suitable Husband will seek and attract a suitable wife and they shall become one and no human being can come between their midst.

For this reason, a man will leave His father and Mother and cling to His wife(Genesis 2:24). Any other philosophy on that matter is human wisdom that can fail.

Also, to answer you, some Mothers fail their children. How will you define a mother that left a six months old baby with a one and half older brother. Such children will grow up then find a wife, then Mummy shows up, I am a mother and I cannot fail you.He can only forgive such Mum.
Christianity EtcRe: Was The Sacrifice Of Jesus On The Cross That Big A Deal? by shine12: 3:21pm On Apr 23, 2013
Its not too hard. I pray you should get old and old and see your children children children and evetually die and see whether jesus is the only way or not.

Before Jesus came, God knew we cannot keep the law. In those days, the people of God(Isralites) use to sacrifice for there sins at the temple with an Unblemished lamb, every sin demands a sacrifice to be washed away. The death of Jesus on the Cross/Tree bought us forver from condemnation.
Why do you think several idol worhsippers, satanist, illuminati etc seek sacrifice; either animal or human sacrifice to achieve something(This practice is evil and was stolen from God's agenda, the devil is the master copy-cat in this world and has used His fradulent means to twist God's agenda)

Yes because God is all powerful He sent His son(yes only begoten son) to die for us. I dont want to go too deep, Read John chapter 1 to understand more.

Thats why you need to accept Him first and be saved. Aslo, the things of the spirit is not for the carnal minded(We cannot use our little brain to deduce it, Let me tell you this of all the things in this life, man can understand, to understand the things of God, We need humility and waitng on the Lord). He said I stand at the door and knock If any man open I will come to dine with Him and He with me.

He who has an ear let Him hear
