Samakus: It's funny that you're now seeing evil in Buhari's bid to choose his successor but saw nothing wrong and indeed failed to cry as Tinubu consistently chose Governors for Lagos State for nearly two decades.
Is there a sacred cow, I begin to wonder. Same Tinubu played this same game few days ago and Sanwo-Olu's challengers were eschewed from participating in the Primaries.
Double face? How were they eschewed from participating in the Primaries? Their hands were tied behind their backs or they refused to sell the forms to them? How? Just tell us how? You cannot blame some people’s cowardice or lack of confidence on others and label them as dictatorial. If they truly have followers, they should go into the field and rally their followers against Tinubu’s candidate…..just like Tinubu himself is not folding his arms right now but busy rallying his followers to battle with anyone that Buhari may choose as a preferred candidate. That’s the way Democracy works….not by lazy people looking for Anointing Oil all over the place and blaming others for their inability to perform! |

CorperKola: . You are being clever by half, somebody that imposes his wishes on his party members. The legendary baba sope. There are rumours he even controls the so called opposition in the state. We are not as ignorant as you, and we are not collecting stipends to do a hatchet job. For once let him be on the other side of Baba sope, this time he is not the "baba". The problem with you and your ilk is lack of confidence! You refuse to follow Christ for your salvation because you say to yourself that Satan is too strong. Well, you deserve what you get! |

CorperKola: But tinu u has the right to choose his succesors even though his tenure ended in 2007. Something is wrong with you. Nobody takes you seriously anyways I’m sure something is wrong with one of us….but it’s certainly not me. Search yourself my friend. Like any other citizen, Tinubu always has the right to have a preferred candidate. That choice is subjected to popular vote by Lagosians who are free to vote against Tinubu’s preferred candidate. If his opponents are too lily-livered to contest against his candidate, who then should be blamed? That is exactly what he’s also asking Buhari to do….have your preferred candidate but let us go to the Square and fight it out. If your candidate wins, so be it. Why is Buhari and his goons afraid of that? …..because they know Tinubu is strong enough to beat their candidate!! |

Great2017: Tinubu and his "anointing oil". Same will be served to him very soon. Once Buhari names his anointed candidate, Tinubu is free to contest against him. Look….after Rawlings ruled Ghana for 19 years, he tried to impose a preferred successor on the people but his candidate was roundly defeated. It’s only here in Nigeria you guys try to turn Buhari into a demigod. He is free to name his preferred candidate but the person can still be defeated…..Anointing Oil or no anointing oil. You guys should muster some Confidence in yourselves….after all Buhari himself was defeated three times before someone came to his rescue! |

Reference: Let me whisper this to you softly, softly.... That is exactly what Mr President (or the President's men) want to do.....
What you cleverly hide in your submissions is the status of the 'candidates' to be chosen, which is the crux of the matter. Just like Mr. Tinubu makes available HIS candidates at the general elections, Mr. Buhari want to make available HIS candidate at the general elections also.
The lack of democracy is not on the streets at the general election, no, no, no, but within the political parties. That is where all the mess of maladministration starts, and I am sure you have heard the term 'LACK OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY'. This can be caused by two things. Either by coercion or by influence. Both attack the conscience and erode true competition, the foundation of true democracy.
The PDP did theirs last week and the lack of internal democracy was manifest by the influence of bags of money. The APC wants to do theirs but by coercion. Both are bad and both are alive at all levels of the polity, including States of which Lagos is a poster child.... and you know it, infact you folks boast about it.
I just cannot see what is happening now that has not happened all over Nigeria including in Lagos for the better part of twenty years. But the silver lining here is if this 'big fight' will result in mutual destruction that will consume that cancer of autocracy in Nigerian politics, then we might all be happy at the end. What the President and his goons want to do is to subvert Internal Democracy by disallowing the Delegates from choosing a flagbearer for the party…..in the name of “consensus”. The President can have his preferred candidate….he can even go to the Venue of the Primaries to campaign for his personal choice, but he cannot impose that preferred candidate on the party. The Delegates must be free to agree with him or choose to go in another direction. That’s the point Tinubu is making!! |

Reference: There is nothing to be said about Lagos politics that is not audible to the deaf and visible to the blind. Heck, you folks boast about it all day and night for two decades now, about how a single individual decides elections. Is that democracy.? When you sing that a man, a single man has the power to instal and remove leaders in deciding elections, you give little thought that it flies in the face of the tenets of a popular franchise.
That is empire building. Who does that in a democracy. Where it works properly you do your term and walk away hoping to leave the office, state and its institutions in a better shape than you met it, period. That is success in a democracy. You don't use the instrument of state while in office to create a back door to perpetuate yourself in power. It is a crime in other climes.
Now that it is practiced by others you folks find it hard to swallow. So wierd. You are either a democrat or not. You either practice democracy or not. You cannot pick and choose when and how to peddle influence to suit your wants. It is a moral question every politician out there has to answer and a serious question the people of this country have to rise to resist.
Enough is enough. We want to vote for who we want, not who is foisted on us. If not elections is futile and your PVC is no better than a motel door keycard. ….and who is stopping you from Voting for a candidate of your choice? I asked a simple question: each time Tinubu announces his preferred candidate, does he subject him to popular vote by the people or not? So, if his opponents are men of the people, they can always beat his candidate…..but most of the time, they lack the confidence to fight their cause! |
Politics › Re: Salihu Lukman And His Grandstanding Over Buhari’s Successor - Suleiman Musa by shinealight(m): 5:50am On Jun 03, 2022 |
Great2017: Will Nigerians not also vote to decide who becomes the President? There is nothing like democratic about Tinubu, so he is not in any position to reject Buhari’s concensus candidate. What do you have Delegates for at Indirect Primaries? Is it democratic for Buhari to make the Delegates redundant and usurp their powers? Yes, the generality of the citizens will vote at the general election but the Delegates who are Representatives of the people at grassroots level must also be allowed to vote at the Primaries. Simplicita! |

Great2017: How about Tinubu choosing the governors of Lagos since 2007? If anybody should complain about concensus, it should not be Tinubu. Does he not allow Lagosians to vote for his preferred candidate or reject him on every occasion? If the others are truly popular in Lagos, they will beat Tinubu’s candidate hands down. That’s all Tinubu is asking for……let there be a contest at the Primaries…..he’s sure he can beat Buhari’s candidate! That’s democracy!! |

What do you have to say about that? I don’t care about what Lukman does or does not do! Point is Buhari does not have the right to seek to choose a successor particularly after failing woefully to deliver any of the promises made to Nigerians in 2015 and 2019. Who needs the recommendation of a calamitous failure? He should just quietly go back to Daura and try to hide his face from public view as much as possible after that! |
