SportsThe Revolution Has Started - Follow The Nigerian Football League On Nairaland by Shinor(op): 7:21pm On Mar 10, 2013
I always knew when I joined Nairaland that I was going to be a part of something great.
Yesterday's post on the Rangers V Enyimba game was a historic moment and quite monumental.
It was the turning point in viewership of our local league.
By this singular action, thousands were brought into the NPL fraternity and this marked the turn around we have always hoped for.
There have been other threads such as the 3SC V Gombe game.
Hopefully it will only grow on from here

Where are the EPL and La Liga slaves?
Anyway as a Yoruba man I should be neutral and wish for a draw.
Love both teams. History and achievement back them.

CareerDress For Success - Getting Ready.............. by Shinor(op):
“Your appearance, attitude and confidence define you as a person.” -Lori Myers

PERSONAL APPEARANCE
If you desire to be relevant in life and be a success in all you do, you have to make a conscious decision to develop yourself. You must invest in yourself considerably. This investment however does not necessarily have to be solely monetary. But It will certainly demand other resources such as your time and energy. It will also require you to make lots of personal sacrifices.
The road to the top is often laced with numerous challenges and it is your ability to navigate these challenges successfully that will determine your outcome in life. In this race, you can never be over prepared. Once you create a picture of your destination, employ everything you can muster to achieve your goal.
Even mundane things such as personal hygiene cannot be overemphasized. It is often said that you get only one chance to make an impression. If this is true then you don’t want to let bad breath or foul body odour be stumbling blocks.
Take personal hygiene seriously. Some people have been known to miss opportunities for personal advancement because they had personal hygiene issues. Do the same with your dress style. It’s an important opportunity to convey a positive message especially for the first time.
Your appearance also says a lot about your confidence. Don’t forget people are always looking for confident people to help them. Boost your self confidence. Dress well. Look great.
A lot of people erroneously believe that to dress well must cost a lot of money but nothing could be farther from the truth. Looking smart does not have to be expensive. All that you require to look good is that your clothes are ironed. That you hair is neat and tidy and that your shoes are polished. No matter how much your jacket costs, if it is full of creases and while your hair at the same time resembles a forest, there are chances that you won’t be taken seriously.
Make an effort with your personal appearance. This is what people use most of the time to decide whether or not they will grant you an audience. They will treat you with more respect, take you more seriously, and find you more attractive.
Don’t flaunt the opportunity.
Get ready on your journey to greatness and don’t allow anything stand in your way!

TOP TIPS FOR DRESSING FOR SUCCESS
1. Be aware of fashion , but never a slave to it
2. Invest in quality - It looks, feels and lasts better.
3. Think versatility - when buying new items make sure they will work with what you already have.
4. Be aware of too many bright colours
5. Think of your shoes - ensure they go with the rest of the outfit
6. Think of the finishing touches- hair, nails etc.

This is why I think the EPL is becoming boring. You are now able to predict the league winners as early as November. That is sad for a league that is meant to run till May the following year.

Music/RadioShaba Ranks Return To Jamaica After 11 Years In The Usa by Shinor(op): 10:06pm On Nov 10, 2012
Jamaica still loves Shabba Ranks although they haven’t seen him in many years.
Dancehall icon Shabba Ranks was mobbed by hundreds of fans who turned out at the Norman Manley International airport.
Shabba, whose real name is Rexton Rawlston Fernando Gordon, is in Jamaica to perform on Reggae Sumfest International Night 1. He will share the stage with the likes of R&B sensation Trey Songz, and reggae crooner Tarrus Riley.
Shabba Ranks also caused a frenzy when he toured his birth community of Olympic Gardens in Kingston. The legendary dancehall star had to exit his vehicle and walk after a huge crowd converged.

PhonesRe: Nokia Introduces Solar Phone Charger In Nigeria by Shinor(m): 11:43am On Oct 17, 2012
I am sad that this device though needed mostly in Africa particularly Nigeria, was not designed and manufactured by a Nigerian or indeed an African company. It points to the lazy attitude that has continued to plague Africa. Always seeking answers to internal problems from outside. NOKIA noticed we never have electricity so they designed this phone for us.
They noticed we always carry 2 0r 3 phones so they manufactured dual sim for us.
Another phone company manufactured a phone that also had torch light for us as we never have light.
Samsung just manufactured a fridge that will function better with our epileptic power supply
All these were done by foreign companies for a problem that is predominantly a unique to us.
When are we going to wake up Nigeria?
When will Nigerians start seeing opportunities instead of complaints?

PoliticsRe: IBB Threatens To Expose Buhari by Shinor(m): 2:07pm On Aug 28, 2012
Does IBB seriously expect to get kudos for this? Any responsible citizen will not withold valuable information that can lead to the advancement of his / her country. If IBB had information on Gen Buhari's dodgy past as he claims, why has he kept this valuable piece of information to himself? Is the military espirit de corps to which they both swore more important than the progressive development of all Nigerians? I hope our citizens will see this man IBB for who he truly is. I don't care what IBB says about Buhari almost 28 years after Buhari's exit from office. Why did he keep quiet for so long? Justice delayed is Justice denied. For those who are awaiting this soap opera to continue, let me warn you that IBB will not say anything on this issue again. Why threaten to release the information? Why not just go ahead and talk? At 71 you would have expected this man to be nearer God and really prepare for his departure to the great beyond.

So Jamaica is economically better than Nigeria? What kind of speech is this? Using one country's rise to generalize. I wish the minister will watch a documentary on Usain Bolt's training regime. The Jamaicans train in one old cricket club with little or no modern facilities at all. What drives them is a passion and desire to succeed. The athletes know if they can do well at major competitions they are made for life - world recognition, endorsements etc. That is what we need to drum into our athletes. Sacrifice does pay. It is not always about instant gratification. Be proud to represent your country.

England / Team GB Football club or what ever you call it, begged FIFA President Sep Blatter to remove penalty from football after losing to Korea. It is so sad that even after joining 4 countries together, Britain still can't win football games via penalties.
Speaking while also crying, the English thug sorry captain said " Now we know say dem dey do us from house. Every major competition we manage to qualify for, they will now send the spirit of penalty to attack us." To this end, all English national team players are to arrive Nigeria for deliverance at a spiritualist home near Bar beach before England's next major competition.

BusinessThe World Thrives On Ideas. What Is Yours? by Shinor(op): 7:50pm On Jun 22, 2012
The notion that the world is run by men with ideas is a strong and compelling one. What this means is that the world is filled with and controlled by ideas. All that we see, know and enjoy today came about by the reason of someone’s idea. Electricity, buildings, airplanes, submarines, microwaves, television, cars etc – all these came about because someone somewhere had an idea and did something with that idea. There has not yet arisen a human problem that will defy a solution stemming from an idea.
So what is your idea? What are you going to contribute to the world? Or are you just going to deplete the world’s resources?
The Ipad, Iphone, Blackberry are all creations of someone’s idea.
This blog was first conceived as an idea. The reason for writing it is to kick start your creative thinking ability and provide subsequent guidelines to help you through conception to delivery.
The focus is on young people especially those who have never believed that they have anything to contribute to society. There is so much inside you to be harnessed. And what’s more? Never be afraid to fail. Failing doesn't make you a failure, quitting does. Never be afraid to launch out. The seed of success is in you. Therefore get kicking and let the ideas start rolling.
What are you going to do with that idea God gave you? It's about time that we start to see great accomplishments originating from Africa.
