For me, my wife is the best thing that has happened to me. My female friends and relatives are all really decent and nice. I wouldn't bash women because women in my circle are decent. I can't speak for other guys though.

I watched the movie "I am woman" and I saw how long it took American women to be recognized in society. Every day rallying and carrying banners just to have the privileges men had. The song "I am woman" released by Helen Reddy in 1972 was what woke them from their slumber, it became their anthem. They played the songs in all their rallies and campaigns.

And the song was inspired by constant rejection from the male folk when Helen was pursuing her music career. But after she released this song, it broke records, because it explained every struggle women were facing then. That was a stepping stone for women's liberation in America. With the help of constant campaigns from notable women, the bill was signed.

What's my point? It's going to take more than online essays and articles for African women to be recognized in this patriarchal society.

And I doubt if they're even ready. The freebies they receive from men won't let them open their eyes and see what is wrong with them.

I also blame society partly for it, because in this part of the world, women are not valued at all, they're made to believe that their only existence is grow up, marry and reproduce, nothing else. And they're made to believe that they're the receiver while men are the giver.

You can be good elsewhere, the idea that women must be good in the kitchen only propagate the wrong Idea that they belong there. It also creates a situation where the man is okay not making food because he believes it is the job of the woman. Making food is an art and some people just don't have it.

Although, I believe every human(male or female) should possess the basic skill to make their own food. The food might not be tasteful but they should be able to whip up something so theu shouldn't starve even if they can afford to buy. Atleast sabi cook noodles.
