No that isn't true! The rate at the date you submitted is what would be used to quantify. "Unless there's a drastic change" .

This is according to IRCC.

What counts as a drastic change is now up to IRCC.
It is a drastic change. 41% increment cannot be overlooked. From CAD 1/345 to 485; this is a difference of NGN 14O which is equivalent to 41% increment.

The way IRCC would do its judgement is left to them, but I know that lock-in date is applicable to PR application. I don't know whether or not it is applicable to study permit, even if it is applicable to study permit application, 41% increment is too significant to overlook.

So you mean those who have submitted before June 15 and their eligibility check hasn’t started means automatic rejection if the money doesn’t meet up with the new rate?
I never said this! This is your thought.

Hello bro
What about pple that already applied for their visa before june 15th change in exchange rate.. do you think IRCC would use old exchange rate to calculate their POF as at when the submitted their application? Or the new rate will be used to calculate the POF of those that applied bfr the change in rate.. what do you think?
Financial sufficiency is checked at Eligibility Review. If by luck your application is in Eligibility Review before June 15, it is possible that the old rate would be applied: but if Eligibility Review is yet to start, I am afraid they might use this new rate.

IRCC has its own exchange rate. POF is not calculated at our rates.
Check the link https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/cgi-bin/recgen/er.pl?Language=E

I stand to be corrected.
Thank you for this. Kindly let me add to it.

IRCC uses official CBN exchange rate in calculating theirs. The rate shown by IRCC is the same as that of CBN.

As of now, USD 1/NGN 588.95. and USD 1/CAD 1.31.
If you use those rates above, you will arrive at NGN 1 = CAD 0.0022 or NGN 485 = 1 CAD.

The same thing is reflected on IRCC website but in NGN-to-CAD format which amounts to approximately 0.0022: meaning NGN 1 is equivalent to CAD 0.0022. Whenever I see rates expressed in this format, I do laugh. Our 1 Naira is not even up to 1 cent not to talk of a dollar. It is approximately one-fifth of a cent (1 cent divided by 5).

Hello, asking for a Friend

1: His wife current job is elementary school teacher and gotten an admission for an Early Childhood Education program, hope this program is in line with her career

2: The friend has account balance of 12m, the wife program is 2 years, but she is going alone. Is this amount enough for POF
1. Yes, it tallies but emphasis should be laid on teaching kindergarten if truly she teaches that grade.

2. It depends on the tuition fee. If you provide the tuition fee for the two years, you may be able to get the approximate value of POF needed.

Thanks for the response bros.

Option 1 seems fair provided all things are equal. Fear is if IRCC goes back to sleep mode and we wait endlessly for visa

Option 2: Would strong home ties like personal building with a good valuation, study leave from both employers, immediate siblings and parents be enuf as home ties?

It's the duration of study (1 year) that is actually making me look for anyone in the same boat to boost my confidence. I know with 2 years, there are plenty success stories.
Do not despair: if you do it the right way with serious aggression, you would get a decision before graduation.

The word "enough" is never spelt out by IRCC, you should present what you have: but from record, it seems you may have good home ties. No one has successfully defined what is enough. You can only rely on statistics.

If you are looking for success stories, I can tell you to relax, there are success stories.

However, I am not convincing you to opt for a one-year program. You know what you want. Your decision is your decision. I am not responsible for any failure or glitch should there be any.

Due to the study gap, your friend should focus more on career progression.

What job has your friend been into?

Your friend will do well if he/she wishes to pursue the a program of study that is in tandem with his/her job.

Is 8 months course same thing as one year program? Like if one study 8 month January to August program will one be qualified for PGWP? If yes, will it be 8 months or 1year. If it's 8 months pgwp can it be convert to PGWP? thank you.
An eigth-month course will get you a one-year PGWP so long the course is PGWP-eligible.

Hello house,

Thanks for all your contributions, they are biulding a wealthy library.

My question:
Husband got admission for a 1 year program; can he apply with his spouse and 3kids?

If yes, will that be SOWP for spouse and SP for kids........or just visiting visa for them.

I have seen replies to similar questions saying they can but are there any success stories?

Pls help a sister, school resumes in Sept.

Thanks.
Option 1.
I suggest that the husband goes alone so as to use the spouse and children as home tie. Immediately he touches down in September, he should submit for spouse and children.

Option 2.
All can apply together but with strong proofs of home ties.

SOWP for the spouse and children should apply for either Visitor Visa if not older than 7 years or Study Permit if older than 3 years.

What makes you begin to look for success stories? There are many success stories.

Hello, good morning.
Please I need a little help here. I want to know if DHL is faster than UPS for passport submission. I also want to know if Abuja is faster than Lagos. Thank you 🙏🙏
Whether DHL or UPS, send to Abuja, IRCC will have your passport stamped under 24hrs.

If you live anywhere in South West, you should get your passport back in your hand within 4 - 5 days if you send to Abuja.

Hi guys, so I’m a software engineer and currently work remotely with a company based in Spain and I want to move to Canada as a student and I’ll still continue my job.

So far I have saved money for the tuition fee, living expenses and miscellaneous for the first year (around 32,000 CAD) and I will pay for the second year from my salary during the first year (3000 CAD monthly).

What are my chances? Should I wait and gather my money to be enough for the 2-year program, or should I go for a 1-year program or just apply anyway?
Whether or not you should go for a one-year or two-year program, it is all dependent on your decision.

Meanwhile, if you enroll for a one-year program, if you want it, you could enroll for another after completing the first one.

Good evening all,

I have been a follower here and I must confess, the information here are really helpful and insightful.

Please I need some advice;
My wife studied Criminology and Security Studies (2.1), she graduated 2018 n served till 2019

Since then no job, so she took on a teaching job.

My concern is, can she still do a criminology/criminology related course in Canada or it has to be something related to teaching (she's not keen on that)

2. The 5 year gap (would be 6 next year as we are targeting Sept 2024) should we be concerned?

3. I would love to go with her as a dependent, if I can get a letter of 24 months from my office will it improve our chances as I would like to use it as home tie alongside other information; if yes, will I still be able to work Canada knowing that I'm on leave here in Nigeria.

4. Will a 10 - 12m POF be okay for both of us (this does not cover tuition n flight)

Thanks.
1. Yes and No.
To increase the chances of visa approval, it is better to stick to career progression which is Teaching.
When she gets to Canada, she can change course or opt in for a second program in Criminology etc.

2. No concern. This is why you will emphasize on career progression.

3. It will boost your home tie. Spousal Open Work Permit is issued to the spouses of international student; holders can work for any employer. You will be able to work.

4. Supposing that tuition fee and miscellaneous expenses have been taken care of, you need just $4,000 additional POF. If you have children, $3,000 for each children is needed. Please use the CBN rate of $1/345 to calculate to get the applicable value. All in all, 10m - 12m will be enough if tuition fee and miscellaneous expenses are not included.

I hope the above answers your questions accurately.

Hey Guy, please I need honest advice. I got admission at Fleming college and Canadore College both in ontario which of these 2 colleges have better ranking? Admission is for the same program and intake. Please advise 🙏
School ranking doesn't matter in Canada so long it's a Canadian school. In both schools, you will earn Ontario College Certificate/Diploma/Grad. Cert.

Look for the location instead, choose the one with more population for increased chances of getting a job.

I just started following this thread yesterday and I must say that this group is one of the best educative forum any prospective student whose mission is to have an international education and certification. God bless you all for your contributions and recommendations.
My own question is; Is it possible to get an individual or organization who can sponsor someone with financial constraints to studying abroad? Or probably get loans and pay back instalmentally?
There are possibilities of getting scholarships or education loan such as MPOWER and school scholarships. Aside these, I know none.

Alright.. culinary art school of Ontario
Checking for this school on the list DLIs, I cannot find it there. Even if it is among the DLIs, not all DLIs offer PGWP-eligible courses: even among those that offer, not all courses are PGWP-eligible.

The consequence of this is you may not be able to apply for PGWP after your graduation which will prevent you or make it almost impossible to become a PR.

Meanwhile, I may have made a mistake.

Kindly take note.

Thank you so much Sir
God bless you and yours for this advice

Please as am applying to colleges because of the course i want to study (Financial Technology) is only few universities that are offering it in Canada and at a very high fees from 30,000-100,000 dollars . I have ND, HND, University diploma and MBA please should i hide my MBA and apply with others or should I apply with my MBA? Your advice will be appreciated.
You should not hide your MBA. There are ways you can go about.

You said Financial Technology costs $30k - $100k, I disagree on this.

Some colleges are offering this course at post graduate level-- PGD/PGC/PBD.

You will do well to research more.

Nice to know. I heard the marriage has to be at least one year old at the time of applying for STUDY PERMIT, how true is this?
No! Pure fallacy and mythology!

Marriage doesn't have to be one year old but cohabitation.

If there is a child, neither marriage nor cohabitation have to be one year old.

Even if you are not married and you can prove your common law relationship by cohabitation, you are considered as couple and will be given the same treatment as married.

In Canada, common law relationship is respected.

I understand that they might suspect the recent marriage, but inasmuch as you can prove that you have been cohabiting for the past years (at least one year if there is no child yet), you shouldn't have issue demonstrating your marriage.

Some of the things to show as evidence of cohabitation are not limited to the followings:

1. Children/Child.
2. Lease agreement showing the names of both of you.
3. Insurance policy for both of you.
4. Joint bank account.
5. Evidence of past chats, emails and messages.

This is not just a theory.

At YYZ, connect to the free WIFI and look for where Flixbus or Robert Q stand is. They are shuttle service companies with stands in the airport.

You can browse them from home before your flight and play around with their website/app and type in your address to see the fare.

You can also check with your school if they have this service. I am aware some schools have it. If they have, you probably have paid for it from your tuition fee.

Greetings
Please what do you think going for 8 months course

Can i so apply with my family or can i apply
for them immediately after getting my Visa?
Please your Advice is needed here
Thank you
An eight-month course will get you a one-year PGWP. People are enrolling for it and are becoming PRs after their study. There is no problem at all. All you need do is to be strategic about it.

You can apply for your wife and children to accompany you or you can wait until you alone reach Canada.

I must also make you aware of what people call a danger which is not a danger at all.

Some people would argue that if you fail to get a job immediately after your study, your hope of becoming a PR is gone. Do not listen. They say that because they know only CEC which requires you have 12 month Canadian work experience in at least a TEER 3 job. Meanwhile, there are ways you can still apply under CEC and many other ways.

There are many other ways of becoming a PR. They are;

1. One + One strategy (CEC).
2. Interchange strategy (CEC) for couples
2. PNP
3. AIP.
4. RNIP.

In this case, I will suggest you write it to the best of your knowledge and look for someone to assist in reviewing. The person may catch what you don't.

Also, grammatical and typographical errors are welcomed but should not be so much that your message is distorted. If you can avoid it, it is best.

Tips for checking for accommodation.

1. Use Facebook Market Place. Ensure your location reflects your real location and 25km radius (depending on your desired coverage and how wide the city is). Then search using words like "1 bed," "2 beds apartment near me" etc.

2. Visit Kijiji.ca

3. Your school may have off campus housing website or portal.

I am currently doing my MSc in the UK but plan on going through the study route again to Canada. So I will be putting up my application from the UK, but I would have finished the UK MSc programme before the Canada application.I want to pursue a postgraduate diploma in a related course similar to the one I am currently studying in the UK.Is it advisable to apply for PGD in a related course to the one I am doing in the UK, or can I be silent about the current MSc since I would have completed the UK MSc before I filled out the Canada application? Also, is there a point when filling out the Canada visa application where I will be asked to put the type of visa I am on in the UK, or would they ask anything like that?Note: I was once denied a study permit due to financial issues and also because I applied for a diploma course in 2021.
If you are silent on your MSc, IRCC would ask about what you are doing in the UK. You are actually on a study permit. You should build your application on whatever qualification you are pursuing in the UK.

Hello everyone,

Please I need all the advise I can get.

My study is starting in September. Visa has been approved.

I applied alone and used my husband and two kids as home ties.

Now I want to apply for them.

What visa do you think I should apply for, for my husband and two kids.

Note: my course is for 10 months

Thank you all in a advance
You should apply for Spousal Open Work Permit for your husband and either study permit (4 years old and above) or visitor visa (7 years old and below) for your children.

This question may make you vulnerable to attack.

This question may expose you to scam.

You should be fine following the school instruction. Why looking for an app that doesn't exist? I have not seen a school that doesn't provide a guide on how to make payment to them.

You should ask questions like:
How do I pay using Flywire? How do I pay using Form A? How do I pay using my debit card? etc.

Maybe you should reword your question so people can understand better.
