The two visas contradict themselves. That means they don't consider CPA as a part time study. Try to get PR so it won't be required of you to have study permit. Most people that did CPA I know as immigrant did it towards the end of their study permit period ( the 1 to 3 month window period immediately after school)

Meaning with my already approved work permit while residing in Canada, my application for a study permit will be rejected by IRCC or my current work permit will be rescinded?

If I have OND, HND & Ontario Graduate Certificate all from different schools, and intend to evaluate my certificate through WES for my Express Entry application, Can I evaluate my HND and Ontario Graduate Certificate alone and choose not to evaluate my OND?

I am asking this question because of the difficulties in getting my OND transcript. It has been almost impossible.

I hope the people that kept arguing that you can apply for SOWP when you get PGWP can see this.

And no you can not apply for SP for your kids. You can only apply for VV for the whole family.

I have just gone through the IRCC website and can not find any statement on the website that supports this notion that one can't apply for SOWP through PGWP.

There is no SOWP route for College or PGD students again. It's dead and buried. Only option is to move from PGWP to LMIA or get PR to bring spouse via SOWP. PGWP is still a kind of work permit tied to the condition of the student which is a college graduate so no SOWP. The PGWP option you think is available to bring spouse is actually LMIA (closed work pernit) except the student is admitted or enrolled in a Masters or professional degree then there spouse qualify for SOWP. Spouse of such student can still apply for SOWP when they move from students to graduates (PGWP)

What will happen to the SOWP of spouses for students with study permit of just one year who are aiming to renew their study permit for an additional year? Meaning, if the SOWP ban takes effect before your study permit expires, how does the spouse request for a new SOWP especially as SOWP can not be renewed.

How true is this? You mean spouses of current study permit holders who are yet to apply for SOWP are not affected by the new policy?

Please what is current mininum proof of fund required for Spousal Open Work Permit in Canada? As at two years ago it was $5k but I am not sure what the current amount is.

Am afraid, that is a long time. She can renew her study permit anytime as long as she has all documents for the renewal. She does not need to wait till the last minute before re-applying. When she re-applies , she should add you up if you are in canada, if not you can right away apply now but the minimum duration on your spouse visa should be six months to apply. Ur spouse should apply immediately and ias soon as her study permit is approved, you can add it to your application. Apply with what she is having now and pray they dont make a decision before she gets the new approval and you can send it to IRC . Best wishes

I learnt one can only apply for study permit renewal until it is 3 months to expiration.

My wife study permit expires in July, although she will be seeking extension by April for another one year. Does this mean I have to wait until she has been granted extension by April before I apply for my SOWP, seeing that renewal of SOWP isn't allowed?

You can apply before it expires but if u can be patient a little wait for her to get an extension reason is that if you apply now they will grant you visa until the date her current visa expires and will extend it only when her new application is approved so u see the choice is yours

Thank you Chief. If she applies for extension of her study permit, does that mean her visa would also be extended? My worry is that her current visa expires in June and I won't be applying for SOWP until August.

Thank you Boss. She is starting a new course next year and hereby seeking her study permit extension. So from what I hear you say, her study permit extension is enough for me to apply for SOWP.

* If her study permit is open until June 2024, it means you can apply for SOWP. and she need to show evidence of available finance to support you whilst she studies.
* Depending on her course length year, if it's above 1 year then she ought to have more than a year study permit stamp. Whichever is the case scenario her study permit is her legal temporary stay in Canada and if expires and her study is finished, she will not be able to extend her visa and you won't be eligible to apply for SOWP.

Her current course of study is just one year, although she intends to apply for another one year next year.
The problem is I'm not prepared to leave for Canada until August next year which unfortunately her current visa would have expired.

So how do I apply for SOWP then?
