^^^ Don't you think giving posters a chance to go thru a history of their hidden posts will encourage them to desist from making similar mistakes in the future? Though some poster are bound to abuse such privileges as the may come back to open threads where they will attempt to debate the relevance of their posts, i strongly suggest that NL send such post may be on a periodic basis or on a post be post basis (depending on which is more favorable to the site's onwer pocket).

There is only one BH Leader - Shekau. Besides, since the ND militants stole oil to survive believing they truly deserve a fair share of their oil, i think the Monetary rewards should be "virginized" with young almajiri girls.
if these guys are truly asking for these amount then they 've been blackmailing the FG all this while as their region don't produce significant amount of fund for the FG. . . lol

Nairaland General › A Thread For Hidden Posts by Sibrah(op): 3:57pm On Apr 05, 2013
I am forced to create this thread because of the way certain powers that be have decided to hide posts.
My first problem is the hiding of posts without the poster getting to know what is technically wrong with such post on NL, some may argue that the post must have violated some rules of NL but i don't want agree with such given my experience with these post-hiding-guys.
Second on the list is actually a suggestion to the central and highest power that be on NL, i want to propose that the posts containing such violating content be forwarded to the registration email box of the offending poster as it is hard for an active poster to know, off hand, the exact words of his/her post. I don't think it is enough to just hide post with out letting others know what constitute a violating post, to this effect i propose a section or at least a pages for sample hidden posts per section containing nothing but hidden posts and the original post(Main thread post) for such topics.
Third on my message and the final part, is to thank our ever ready moderators of the Politics of NL and appeal to them that they help give the thread the attention it requires as or kindly move it to appropriate section if not ideal for this section.
Thanks.

Politics › Re: Military Chiefs Angry With Boko-Haram Amnesty by Sibrah: 1:44pm On Apr 05, 2013
naptu2: To an extent I agree with GEJ. Grant them amnesty with conditions.

I do not think that the hardcore members of Boko Haram are interested in any amnesty. However, you can use an amnesty offer to lure the weaker and fringe elements, who might be able to deliver vital intelligence to you. This might also cause a split in the group and weaken it.

However, the main condition that should be attached to the amnesty is that the members of Boko Haram must lay down their arms and disclose the sources of their weapons and funding. Again, as it was in the Niger-Delta amnesty deal, amnesty should not be granted to anyone who has murdered or been involved in the murder of another person.

The military chiefs also have a point (and a huge job to do). It is not easy to tell the ranks that, after their colleagues have been killed and they have faced great difficulty, they now have to accept Boko Haram members as regular citizens of Nigeria. If the announcement is not handled well, it could lead to a mutiny.
How do u tell who has killed before? How do you check migrants for Chad, Niger, and Mali from coming into Nigeria for the amnesty?

Islam › Re: Let Muslims Be Muslim by Sibrah: 1:00pm On Apr 05, 2013
Yes oh! let them be, so others won't have any reason being alive.

This is just a digression and not the main subject of my note. Today, a religious crisis is brewing in Lagos State. And this is not about the recent busting of a suspected book haram hide-out but the harassment of female Muslim students who have chosen freely to use the hijab. Two of these students were flogged recently by their Principals and this caused an outcry from the Muslim societies around the country but Lagos in particular. I hear that a petition has been written to the Lagos State House of Assembly by MURIC (Muslim Rights Concern) and an ad-hoc committee has been set-up by the House to consider passing a law banning or authorizing the use of hijab. Some argue that Nigeria is a secular State and the State should not be seen passing laws that seem to promote a particular religion but the protagonist of this line of argument fail to admit that most of the systems we practice today were from colonial masters who were Christians.
Did the colonial masters copy and paste their religion into the laws they left with us?

confusion247: If boko haram gets amnesty, then Jonathan have legalized crime. MASSOB over to you, if only you people have the liver to strike.
And which set of people are the MASSOB going to be killing to instill fear into the FG? Is it the few abokis who are going to elope with their suya bowl and baskets or where are the oil facility they intend to ground? Same goes for OPC also.

Sincere 9gerian: Typical of SR. Is this not the same SR that has been the mouth piece of Boko haram all the while? SR is the NUMBER ONE propagator of the activities of Boko haram.

Since the Boko haram mayhem started, no suggestion of possible ways of ending the crisis has emanated from SR. Not even one. All we read is criticisms of any strategy adopted by govt.

What do I expect next from SR? I expect SR to blast us very soon with a news report with a headline like "Boko haram rejects amnesty". Watch out!
The conclusion that can be drawn from the attitude of SR is that they want the crisis to continue. SR is profiting from the crisis.
Your level of mischief knows no bound, how has SR become a mouthpiece of BH? I thought you will be smarter than this in your defense of the indefensible, but instead your focus is on how to discredit a media house who have no business with BH. Maybe Youtube and BBC also are mouthpiece for BH because they have not featured any article or video that profers solution on how to stop BH while relaying BH messages to their audience.

And who has the financial muscle to fund BH and political muscle to shield them, if not the ever thieving disgruntled public servants from up up? It is only natural that these do or die politician, who are competitors with GMB try to link him to BH so as to dampen his chance of emerging victorious come 2015. One thing is crystal clear, whoever the sponsors of BH are, the FG has failed with its handling of the BH and BH suspects caught so far.

Politics › Re: Okupe To Buhari - Persuade Boko-Haram To Accept Dialogue by Sibrah: 2:04am On Apr 03, 2013
Maxymilliano: Okupe is silly for coming out with this press release, he should have known it is not everything that come within your earshot you react to, when silence can be golden, even more as the President media aide.

And in actual fact, the quoted gibberish above is more harm to the President, than good.

General Buhari is a stakeholder as far as the entity called Nigeria is concerned, he enjoys inalienable rights to voice out his reservation(s), whenever and wherever he deem fits and I don"t see how his 'opinion' should be guided, or subjected to Presidential dictum.

Granted he has a role to play in the current restiveness in the north, General Buhari is not duty-bound to condemn Boko haram or visit Borno State to condole the Christians or Muslims that have been killed as Okupe said.

For him to come this far joining issues with a private individual airing his opinion on a selected platform smack of desperation to please, and an all time low in my opinion.

Going further with his 'Bole Kaja' conjectures to claim "Everybody knows that it was General Buhari, who vowed to make Nigeria ungovernable for President Jonathan if he loses the last presidential election. It was in Minna, that he said that once votes are countered and he loses that people should go for blood clearly shows Okupe has outlived his usefulness in the Presidency.

General Buhari is a respected figure in the polity, irrespective of his perceived failings, and it will be wrong for dubious character like Okupe to make attempt at running down his personality just for the sake of it.
if Buhari promised to make Nigeria ungovernable who granted Ali Ndume and co bail? Was it Buhari. You guys like to remind Nlders about what Buhari said but not what Disgruntled PDP member said after Gej clinched the PDP ticket for '11 presidential polls.

Mobsync: And how does the stealing of oil money or this post of urs affect the cost of 33,000 litres of diesel at the NNPC depot at Mosimi?
Once succesive govt succeeds in blocking the oil theft the thieves go into politics and become Godfathers, probably perpetrate new subsidy fraud and increase the price of crude oil indirectly. That's how they affect the price of crude oil.
