President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to the Bill seeking to convert the Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State into a university of technology.

The Bill, which was passed by both Chambers of the National on September 23, 2021, has been returned to the National Assembly by the Presidency

The Bill was recommitted to the Committee of the Whole of the House of Representatives yesterday for reconsideration.

Presenting the Bill for re-committal, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Abubakar Hassan Fulata, said some observations were made on it, which required further legislative action.

He said: “The Federal University of Technology, Auchi (Establishment) Bill and Defence Research and Development Bureau (Establishment) Bill were passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the President for assent.

“Some fundamental issues, which require fresh legislative action by the National Assembly, emerged after a critical analysis of the Bills by the Presidency.

“Cognisant of the need to recommit the Bills to address the fundamental issues raised in the Bills, it is resolves to rescind its decision on the Bills as passed and re-commit same to the Committee of the Whole for reconsideration.”

The House will later reconsider and pass the Bill alongside the Senate before it is sent back to the President for assent.

A 16 year old Nigerian boy identified as John Oseni has secured employment in Italy as a Senior Web Developer, Siggy reveals.

The brilliant kid graduated from Command Day Secondary School, Akure in 2021 and had joined a Web Development training center while he was a student.

Two years after Oseni became a programmer, he has been recognised and hired by an Italian company that poached him from Nigeria to Italy.

He recounted the start of his journey at the age of 14 when he had just a 2GB RAM big laptop up to how Flywallet in Roma, Italy hired him to be a Blockchain Developer in the firm.

Taking to his LinkedIn page, Oseni shared photos of the moment he flew out of Nigeria and revealed that it was his first time entering an airplane.

A video has captured the funny moment some Nigerian university students were seen entering a lecture hall by crawling because they came late, Siggy reports.

The video indicates that the students were late to class and the lecturer was already teaching, so they employed extra measures to get in.

As could be seen in the viral video, the lecturer was already in class teaching when the students arrived.

No nonsense lecturer? To gain access to the class, they had to explore extra measures since it appeared the lecturer was the no-nonsense type.

The students were seen moving with their knees and hands from the back of the class to the front, behind wooden desks in the video shared on Instagram by @yabaleftonline.

In the video, the female students showed a lot of enthusiasm as they watched the video projected on screen.

General Overseer and Senior Pastor, Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has built a new apartment lodge for Corps members, Siggy reports.

The man of God, who is widely known for his philanthropic gestures, together with his wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, built and donated the lodge to the Nigerian Christian Corper’s Fellowship.

Apostle Suleman commissioned the lodge and handed it over to the corps members today. (See Pictures below).

Meanwhile, this is coming just a couple of days after the senior pastor marked his special birthday with the establishment of a hospital that provides 50% free medical services to Nigerians.

While many Nigerians need quality healthcare, the services are not readily accessible to them due to the high cost of accessing such services.

In the countdown to his birthday, Apostle Suleman built the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) Medical Center to provide almost free medical services to people.

Also, he built a restaurant that now feeds about 1000 people daily.

This is just to mention little of the numerous developments and empowerment gestures that he has continued to provide for people, especially the poor.

A yet-to-be identified Nigerian lady who has been posted for her mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps has shared a video of her PPA in "horrible conditions", Siggy reports.

In the viral video, she lamented that they cannot tell whether the place is a school or a church since it looked like both.

Her words: “We have to leave o! We are here no network on our phones. We can’t make calls. The place they sent us to for our primary assignment. The principal is not around. We don’t know if the place is a school or a church. Probably looks like a school and a church.”

The place has a chalkboard and chairs for school children. But a podium and a banner that advertised a church program could also be seen in the not-so-neat hall.

A video showing a female student dancing in a lecture hall in Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), has stirred reactions among students online, Siggy reports.

In the short video, the lady danced on the aisle as all attention became focused on her. Many were utterly surprised by her sudden burst of energy.

In the clip shared on instagram by @SiggyNG, a young man approached her in an attempt to outmatch the lady but he could not just keep up. Another person carrying a bottle of wine did the same thing, but the female student made a mockery of him.

Five students of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom, were allegedly arrested today, Tuesday, March 29, in connection with their landlord's missing plantain, Siggy reports.

They were allegedly arrested on the orders of their landlord who had reported them to the police.

One Saviour Udoh, a business man in Uyo, revealed that he has succeeded in securing bail as surety for the five (5) students, and further thanked the university's Dean of students affairs, for his swift response, the SUG president & vice for their support, presence, and solicitations.

Siggy reports that the management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile -Ife, has announced that the institution will be temporarily closing down for two weeks beginning from March 28, 2022.

This was contained in a release made on Saturday, signed by the university’s registrar, Mrs Magaret Idowu Omosule.

The statement read: “This is to inform staff and students of the university that Management, at a meeting held today, Saturday, 26th March, 2022, approved a two-week mid-semester break for students beginning from Monday, 28th March, 2022.

“We wish students of the university an enjoyable break.”

The university had since been rocked with series of protests by a group of Ife indigenes who decried the non-appointment of Ife indigene as the Vice Chancellor of the university.

The protest was, however, recently suspended.
