Recall it was reported that Noble Eyisi, a former Student Union Government President at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State graduated with first class in the UK, years after he was expelled from UNIZIK.

In this report, the Anambra native reveals how he eventually moved to UK where he graduated with a first class honours from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, and a master’s degree with distinction at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

He said, "I obtained my LLB from the University of Hull; I made first class honours in Law with Politics in July 2019. I just completed my master’s with a distinction in International Commercial Law from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

By the grace of God, I was able to graduate with first class honours two years ago (2019) and made a distinction in my master’s. So, it does make me feel fulfilled that the purpose for which I left Nigeria – for studies – I am finally achieving.

As a student leader, one of my beliefs has always been that my job is to fight for the interest of my fellow students. What led to my expulsion was the fact that I wrote a letter to the vice-chancellor, addressing some of the issues I felt were not being properly addressed by the management of the university. One of them was the price of food in the university.

The other was the fees newly introduced in by the management. In short, after I wrote the letter to the management, we organised a protest and after the protest, I was expelled from the university but up till today, I believe I was acting on behalf of the students; I believe in servant leadership, no matter what the outcome might be.

I was in my penultimate year studying Political Science. I would have graduated in 2016 but I was expelled in 2015.

I think it’s laughable for people to suggest that I alleged a threat to my life because I wanted to seek asylum. I am not an asylum seeker. I didn’t allege a threat to my life to gain public sympathy. I didn’t tell anyone that I had left Nigeria. It was after four years, when I graduated with first class honours that the whole world knew I was in the UK.

There was no need to gain public sympathy. I went to the UK to rediscover who I am and put to shame those people who felt I would not succeed because of what they did to me".

Mixed reactions trails as members of staff of University of Osun State (UNIOSUN), made a banner to celebrate the exit of their Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Labode Popoola, Siggy reports.

Popoola whose five-year tenure as VC of the UNIOSUN ended on November 4, 2021, was met with jubilation from staff who descibed the professor as a not-so-good individual.

In the banner making rounds on social media, the face of Prof. Labode Popoola was boldly printed with demeaning comments.

“With gratitude to God. The entire Staff of Osun State University Staff Celebrates the Inglorious exit of a mischievous tyrant, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Labode Poppola.

He will be remembered for lies, mischiefs, arrogance, divide and rule, power drunkenness, corruption,” the banner reads in part.

The members of staff could be seen in the photos sweeping the exterior of their offices in a way to say goodbye to the former vice chsncellor.

There was also a feast, as the staffs ate and drank to this new development.

A female student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) has given an unexpected reaction to a public proposal by her boyfriend at their school as she bluntly refused the proposal and dished him a hot slap.

The incident reportedly happened at Ambrose Ali University Ekpoma in Edo state.

The young man could be seen kneeling down with a ring in his finger, asking the girl to marry him.

But she appeared irritated and was obviously in objection of the proposal even though onlookers cheered and urged her to say yes.

The lady was venting and pacing up to the point her boyfriend said he loves her and she responded with a slap on his face.

The video which has now gone viral on social media has sparked a lot of reactions with many complaining about the rampant cases of marriage proposal of late.

One University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) graduate named Sunny Ubi from Rivers state has raised an alarm over alleged threat to his life by his wife and her father, Rev. Ijeoma.

He took to Facebook on Thursday afternoon to share photos of his damaged car, claiming that his wife and her father attacked him with weapons in his compound in Port Harcourt.

The18-year-old committed the act and died on Tuesday around 4 pm.

The 26-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Zainab Sanni Oyindamola who was among those trapped in the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi area of Lagos has been confirmed dead, Siggy reports.

The lifeless body of Zainab, who was serving with the construction company, Fourscore Homes Limited, was pulled out from the rubbles on Wednesday, November 3, dashing the hope of her family members who have been at the scene waiting for good news.

It was gathered that the deceased's mother got her redeployed from Borno State due to insecurity.

The deceased was among the six Corps members deployed to the company. But while others escaped by whisker on the fateful day, Oyindamola got trapped in the rubbles.

A source at the NYSC confirmed to Daily Trust that as of now, Oyindamola was the only corps member who died in the incident.

“Oyin as she was fondly called was a 2021 batch B corps member who was originally deployed to Maiduguri but got a redeployment to Lagos after the three-week orientation,” the source said.

A family member, who spoke with journalists at the scene of the incident, said Oyindamola resumed work at the company about three weeks ago.

"She has been coming here since then. We don’t even know why they sent her here. She was originally posted to Borno but her mother redeployed her. If we had known, we would have allowed her to continue her youth service in that state, the family source said.

"We asked her not to go to Borno because of the insurgency but she went there for the three-week orientation and came back alive only to come and die. She was a very humble and respectful girl, she would greet everybody when she arrived from work every day. She is the first daughter of her mother and they are just two.”

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues have taken to Facebook to mourn the deceased. One Agboola Yusuf Olatunji posted her photos yesterday night.

“She was among the victims of the 21-storey building collapse at Ikoyi but we lost her. May Her Gentle Soul Rest in Perfect Peace. Sanni Zainab Oyindamola Ayinke. We love you but Almighty Allah loves you more.” he wrote.

Claims of being used for ritual fills the air as a female student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has dies hours after visiting her boyfriend’s house, Siggy reports.

Wumi, a student in the department of Mass Communication, National Diploma (ND1), was rushed out of her boyfriend’s residence after a brief illness.

A student identified as Toba said the lady was living around Gaa Fulani, off-campus, not too far from her boyfriend’s house, where the incident happened.

‘Although nobody knew what happened between her and her boyfriend, we learnt that she was rushed to the hospital and she was rejected. She eventually died in the car while being taken to another hospital,’ he said.

The spokesperson of the polytechnic, Mr Tope Abiola, confirmed the death of the student.

He said the school authority was briefed about the death of the student and the police have taken over the matter for proper investigation.

According to him, the boyfriend of the lady has been arrested and he is being questioned.

Abiola said the boy in question is not a student of the polytechnic. He urged the police to be thorough in their investigation.

‘It is true that an ND 1 student of Mass Communication died at the weekend. We did not know the cause of her death. We have not been briefed about the cause of the death. The police are still investigating the cause of the death.

‘The school sympathises with the parent of the young girl. It is pathetic that such a young girl could die like that. We pray that such will not happen again in the family.

‘It is true that the young boy has been arrested in connection with the death of the young girl. The boy is in police custody for investigation. The boy is not our student as we can not confirm his identity. We urge the police to conduct a diligent investigation on the matter,’ Abiola added.

A close source has however revealed that they had only dated for two weeks for the young man has bought her an iPhone 12 and given her over a million naira in cash.

Faculty of Arts of the Great University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been gutted by fire that lasted for over 30minutes in the late hours of Monday just few weeks to exam, Siggy reports.

The fire was said to be sourced from the Dean of Faculty of Art's office around 10p.m.

The fire service in the institution were right on time to put the fire out before it escalated to other parts of the building.

No live was reported loss in this incident.
