CBN must be dumb to wait this long to do the needful. And it is doing it halfhazardly. Ponzi schemes are still scamming people daily. Peoples accounts are being cleared.

Someone made over $1bn in the dark net selling drugs using Bitcoin as payment in the US. The guy was later arrested and jailed but the US didn't stop their banks from dealing with customers that use Bitcoin even though Bitcoin is seen as the only major threat to the US $$$.

Infact i dare say that most Ponzi's are not using Bitcoin.

Was MMM ponzi only in Bitcoin?

Are Forex Ponzi's in Bitcoin too?

To the truly naive people here, Bitcoin transactions can be easily traced by our security guys. Few years ago there was a Kidnap syndicate in Abuja that demand bitcoin from their victims, they were easily caught by the DSS.

Do not believe the lies from the pit of hell that Bitcoin transactions can't be traced.

Painful aspect is that Southern Nigeria who ought to be working together to reject this satanic bill are busy plotting who'll succeed Buhari in 2023.

Southern Nigeria must know that even if they succeed Buhari in 2023, it's impossible to amend the bill. Infact it'll only be possible by the barrel of a gun (war).

I don't how people like derive pleasure in seeing businesses cheat.

No i'm not a DSTV agent cheesy

However, Nigeria pays one of the cheapest rates for DSTV in Africa. DSTV have rich content, from Sports (Tennis Tournaments, Formular 1, Wrestlrmania, Rugby, Cricket, Serie A, Bundesliga, EPL, etc) to rich Documentaries, African MAgic, etc with all these programs, we're being charged one of the cheapest rates in Africa (or infact the Universe). DSTV pays Hundreds of Millions of $$$ (If not up to a Billion $$$) for these contents,.

Our problem is not that the rates are too expensive, our problem is that Nigerians are poor (Stole this quote). Our Leaders (Past and Present) are to blame not DSTV.

DSTV can't compete with StarTimes.

StarStimes is owned by Chinese and they are experienced with the tech.
They are one of the best in Asia.

They will kick Multichoice out

Gist!!! I think Startimes is partly owned by the FG through NTA. So the only way they can compete with DSTV is if the FG helps them (the new NBC code is actually targeted at DSTV)

One thing with DSTV is that they're innovative and experienced, we thought that HITV had destroyed them when they won the rights to show EPL.

What was DSTV's response? They invested heavily into our Nollywood, AFRICAN MAGIC was born. The growth in quality of our Nollywood can be partly attributed to AM.

DStV were being threatened by Internet Streaming stations like NETFLIX, what did they do? They came up with SHOWMAX and seeing they don't have NETFLIX content, they've reached an agreement with NETFLIX. Maybe soon they'll add Disney or Amazon.

Chinese are good but entertainment and media imdustry what they've not been able to break into in the world

Great. GoTV and DSTV should be compelled to adopt pay as you go.

Image recharging your phone with 5k and then the credit being wiped off at the end of the month because you were not able to use it. It's outright robbery.

Th same time limit should be removed from data or set to 4 months minimum for any data bundle.

Network providers and digital tv providers are stealing in broad daylight from Nigerians and the government should stop sleeping and protect it's people

They should not be compelled. if you dont like DSTv simply switch to FG owned Star Times.

let Star Times get EPL without funds from FG and see if they won't be as expensive as DSTV

History will never be fair to Buhari administration especially as it concerns this war against Boko Haram/ISWAP.

The Chadian troops are not even as equipped as our troops, I've seen videos of their troops. But look at the impact of their offensive, it'll take Shekau led Boko Haram years before they recover.

I heard the Israeli Air Force at the request of tge chadians, mapped out the Lake Chad Islands that have aided the chadian offensive. Why can't we swallow our pride and bring back mercenaries to help us

I pray shame will make President Buhari to order an offensive and sincerely lead this offensive from the front like his Chadian counterpart has.

Our votes don't count so even if the SE populace don't like APC, all it takes for APC to take over the states are for the current Governors to cross carpet or just simply use federal force and the SE will capitulate.

Lets not forget that Umahi, Gburugburu and Obiano are very close to APC.

The only thing that will stop this if miraculously, Buhari signs the electoral act and insists on free and fair election.

This case isn't just about PDP and APC.

At the heart of this case is that our political elites over the years have weakened the Judiciary so much that for companies to sign contract with Nigeria, they'll have to go to UK.

Ive heard analysts complain that our FG don't respect signed contracts because at the back of their minds they know nothing will happen since it'll likely go to a Nigerian court.

A strengthened and reformed Judiciary will help us develop and a FG that respects the rule of law will also help attract Foreign investors amongst other things.

Interpol and UK may likely reject our extradition request.
The P&ID guys can go to court and ask the British court to stop their extradition by stating that our Judiciary or rule of law are not respected by the executive and they'll go ahead to prove it simply by googling Dasuki, El Zakky, Sowore, etc. UK will not send its citizens to where the rule of law aren't respected.

Lately there's been talks of Igbo presidency, don't be fooled. All these are distractions from what is going on.

What are they trying to distract us from? Failed economic policies they've championed for more than 4 years now that have resulted to 50 naira CBN deducts from every POS transaction, border closures, increased VAT, etc.

Nigerians be wise, forget about tribalism for now let's focus on our economy that has been destroyed.

President Buhari trained his Children abroad instead of ABU Zaria.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!

Also people from other Ecowas nations come to Balogun, Computer Village, Trade Fair, etc to buy goods and transport by road.

Watch as importers will start diverting some of their containers meant for Nigeria to Ghana and it'll affect our govt revenue. We're losing manufacturers to Ghana and now we're about to lose importers to Ghana.

All these advanced countries pass through this same hardship but Nigerians don't want to suffer...Japan doesn't have any natural resources but they are far ahead....we need to be self sufficient....all the things we should have done in the past is now catching up with us...

Which advanced nation passed thru this hardship? Was there a time Japan closed their borders?

China had a policy like this under Mao. Millions died and millions more fell into abject poverty.

What happened next? Deng Xiaoping came and opened the Chinese market to international trade. What happened next will shock us.

According to the World Bank, more than 850 million people have lifted themselves out of extreme poverty as China's poverty rate fell from 88 percent in 1981 to 0.7 percent in 2015.

Nigerians should please google how Deng Xiaoping did it. Read up on economics, google how other nations did theirs. Please don't allow serpents deceive you into believing that this border blockage is good.

Nigerian businessmen also export goods to Ecowas Community and these businesses pay tax. Ecowas trade is worth $300 bn annually.
Politics / Re: Border Closure: Rice Smugglers Divert To Pineapples by signz: 9:46am On Oct 12, 2019
Nigerians must understand that border closure will not last forever, I'm not sure it will even last till October next year because of pressure from Ecowas member states to Nigerian diplomats, economists, etc.
We should remember that we didn't stop our exports from going out. Infact there's no hindrance to our exports. Our act is totally unfair to the ECOWAS trade pact that we signed.
This will affect ordinary Nigerian businessmen that export goods to our West African neighbors on the long run. Once they able to get alternatives especially from East Africa then we're toast. Remember, they signed AFCTA before Nigeria could say Jack....

Like an economists said on Radio that what Nigeria is doing is like a man whose water tank is leaking and he stands to block the leakage with his fingers. Will he stand there forever or will he go and find something to fix the leakage?

FG must find out why it is expensive for business people to do the right things/following the rule book and cheaper for them to break the law.

Buhari must devolve power from the center to the states/regions and private sector to build rails, roads and Bridges. Please I don't like that new policy of companies building roads with the taxes they were supposed to pay, I don't think it's wise.

Meanwhile we've not asked why is it that northern borders are open and borders down here are blocked. I can still smuggle things from Cotonou through Niger Republic undecided

How can Pineapple fromm Benin Republic b more nuitritious than ours?

I don't know about it being more nutritious, all I know is that it's very sweet (has more sugar). Most pineapple consumed in Lagos are from rep of Benin.

However, the main problem with Nigeria is lack of infrastructure that makes trade amongst states within Nigeria easier. In other words doing business in Nigeria is expensive simply because of logistics.
Example, Enugu state have arguably the biggest pineapple farm in Nigeria run by a Mexican firm. Now this has also motivated other small subsistence farmers to go into pineapple farming in the state. Enugu have the ability to be the pineapple capital of Nigeria and can supply the Lagos market pineapple. However, there's no railway line linking Enugu to Lagos or even Edo to Lagos. The Fed roads are horrible and also add the multiple duties that'll be paid to agberos and police officers from Enugu to Lagos. The cost is already very high, making business sense for business people to smuggle in pineapple from cotonou simply because it's cheaper.

It's also reason why it's cheaper to smuggle in foreign strawberries, bell peppers, etc from cotonou instead of getting them from Jos.

The FG must fix our roads, Bridges, railways and also do something about too many duties, multiple taxations that makes ease of doing business impossible
