GoodNews: Detained journalist, Samuel Ogundipe has been released on bail: Nigerian journalist, Samuel Ogundipe who has been detained since Tuesday 14th of August has been released.

He was released this morning after he was granted bail by magistrate Abdulwahab Mohammed of the Kubwa Grade 1 Magistrate Court in Kubwa, Abuja. The judge had first heard the case on Wednesday after Ogundipe was secretly arraigned without being allowed legal representation.

On that day, Mr Mohammed granted a request by the police that the journalist is detained for five days until August 20. However on Friday morning, PREMIUM TIMES learnt Mr Ogundipe was to be taken to the same court. The company’s lawyer was thus present at the court.

At the court, the lawyer argued for the bail of Ogundipe, a request that was not opposed by the police counsel. The judge granted the bail in the sum of N500,000 and a surety who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction. The bail conditions were met and Ogundipe was released.

Nigeria international defender William Troost-Ekong has joined Italian Serie A side Udinese from Turkish side Bursaspor for a fee in the region of €3.3m, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.

Ekong joined Bursaspor last summer from Belgium side Gent but shortly before representing Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia, the 25-year-old revealed he will be interested in a move away from the Turkish side.

He complained about the delay in payment of salaries, a problem which is peculiar to most teams in Turkey. Shortly after the World Cup in Russia, where he played in all of Nigeria’s game, he was linked with a move to French side Lille.

The move didn’t materialize and the defender showed his worth by scoring in Bursaspor’s first game of the new Turkish season but ended up on the losing side as they lost 1-2 to Fenerbahce.

Last season the defender who has 17 international caps with Nigeria at senior level made 27 league appearances for Bursaspor and found the back of the net twice.

Abusive mother flees after attacking a man trying to rescue her two children from her in Bayelsa: A member of an NGO was severely injured while trying to rescue two children from their abusive mother in Bayelsa State.
Read the report by Bar. Dise Ogbise-Erhisere, Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Sagbama Branch:
”the mother of the children has on several occasions according to neighbours consistently assaulted her children with punity.
The ED said a concerned neighbour intervened but was injured in the process by the mother of the children adding that the woman threw a big stone at his eyes causing severe damage and pain to the man.
However, the man has reported the matter to the police but the woman escaped before the police could reach the scene of the crime.
Dise Ogbise-Erhisere, who is also the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Sagbama branch took the children for protective custody.
She expressed worry that the children stayed with neighbours( men) for two days and looked so unkept and sick.
The NBA boss called on members of the public to look out for all cases human rights violation and speak out in order to save the lives of children.

A man has taken to Twitter to rant on how an MTN customer lost N1 million to fraudsters after MTN allegedly gave them access to her SIM and allowed it to be swapped without her consent.
The affected lady identified as Miss Joy allegedly got the message from MTN after her SIM had been successor Nigerians, please disconnect your BVN and very huge accounts from your MTN @MTNNG sim card. A friend just got robbed of over N1million because MTN allowed a random user swap her sim (Full details in the thread) RT to create awareness, please.

So Miss Joy got a message yesterday from MTN that her MTN sim has been swapped. She did not request for a sim swap, she has never attempted a sim swap Sim swap is when a new sim takes ownership of another number, transferring all old details to a new sim

The MTN sim in question is throne that has her BVN registered on and is also connected to all her bank accounts.

Miss Joy immediately called her banks (Ecobank and UBA) to block transactions from her account but she was too late. Under 15mins 1million naira was already transferred from her ECObank account, 200,000 was transferred from her UBA before it got restricted.

Banky W warns Nigerians about the game of politicians ahead of 2019 elections: Banky W, popular singer cum actor and husband of Nollywood’s sweetheart, Adesua Etomi, has warned Nigerians against taking sides in heated arguments over political leaders in the country.

Banky W warns Nigerians, writing on his Twitter page, said all politicians are after their self-interest, therefore none should be sided with.

This is coming after operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, blocked the entrance of the National Assembly, preventing lawmakers from gaining access to the chambers.

This led to the dismissal of the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura.

According to Banky W, politicians in the country were playing with Nigeria’s destiny, adding that they do not have the interest of Nigerians at heart. He, therefore, called on citizens to look for a new way forward.

He wrote: “Politicians are playing musical chairs with our country’s destiny. Instead of us coming together and cancelling all of them, some of us are picking sides, fighting on their behalf and falsely accusing ourselves. News flash: They’re all out for self-interest. We need an entirely new path.

“It’s a chess game between two sides.. aren’t we tired of being pawns yet? No? We are just going to sit here and fight/falsely accuse ourselves, on behalf of leaders on both sides of the aisle, most of whom have clearly shown that we are the ones they care least about?

“Cancel all of em. It’s a chess game, and we are the pawns. It’s a damn comedy show, and the joke is on us. It has always been.

“Those of us that have registered to vote for 2019, vote with your conscience. But it isn’t just about 2019. It’s about building a new viable option going forward. Aren’t we sick of all of them already? Haven’t they all had enough chances to do and be better?

“I’m hoping to work with whoever wants to build something new. We have the numbers to do it. But we are busy playing their game and picking sides. We are no better than the generations that got us in this mess.”

Thanks guys, but I was not using the phone while it was charging

Please nairalanders I'm looking for infinix phone company headquarters.
And also I'm looking at whether to sue for damages.
Please I need a good advice. It all started few months ago when I bought infinix zero 4 from fine brothers phone shop in Enugu, within two months of usage the phone's fingerprint stopped working, so I quickly went to the nearby fine brother's shop in Ebonyi state I accessed their warranty, which was within two weeks, after two weeks of return the phone turn from good to bad.
The same thing I complained of initially stopped working again but because of what I was doing then I was not able to return it again I decided to manage the phone with the fault till last month when I plug the phone with the infinix charger I use on it before. The phone explode and caught fire and burnt my gadgets including my Samsung laptop but through my neighbour's efforts I was able to stop the fire from destroying more things or either moving to my neighbour's room.
Now I'm of the opinion to sue them for damages and producing bad phone which supposed to be recalled because I no it might not be only me that complain about phone as faulty gadget.
Most importantly to recover damages for my other items that got destroyed through the use of their phone.
Please I hope I have good cause of action.

OFFICIAL: Julen Lopetegui sacked as Spain head coach 1 day before the World Cup
Spain have officially sacked Julen Lopetegui as head coach just 24 hours before the World Cup after shock Real Madrid appointment.

Julen Lopetegui has been sacked as manager of Spain, after taking the Real Madrid job on Tuesday.

Lopetegui was announced as Zinedine Zidane's successor earlier this week in a move that surprised many.

The announcement initially claimed that the 51-year-old would take the reigns at Santiago Bernabeu after the conclusion of the tournament, but La Roja have acted now.
