The idea: A loan marketplace, where people can give out loans or take loans, if you are giving out,
you can set the amount, interest, days to pay back and that's all, after the loan tenure specified, the company(Us)
automatically pays the person giving out loan and adds an interest rate to the amount the borrower is supposed to pay back.

I currently have access to tons of financial tools to get this started but i currently do not have enough funds, I mean i have the full capacity to run this thing what I just need is like a headstart.

I myself i am fully tech oriented as i can develop apps and websites very well. Also, I have access to lots of financial tools similar to what branch and paylater are using, we can just tweak ours and make it better.

I don't know if someone would want to invest in us, we would come forward with a registered business name and we would physically show up, I and my partner.

I've actually seen what python can do, i won't recommend it at all, i know two developers who write python and the whole thing ehn e just get as e be, besides you can even use something as little as php for the backend and you'll still be okay

So we had this argument at work today about which idea will turn out to be successful

1. A startup made for everyone who wants to make money with their social media account, it will be open to all however it will have free and premium account, free users will earn money, while premium users will earn x4 if what free users earn

2. A startup for entertainment where 24 users post contents like celebrities, however the user with highest like at the end of the week gets cash price, the last 4 users with the least likes will be removed from the competition and another will be added...

Now, which would you rather prefer? I choose the second one tho, cuz its fun

I've been an active member for a while, I know the likes of dhtml and seunthomas back them however, I've come to noticed that people marvel at how carbon, Cowrywise, eyowo and all these beautiful Nigerian apps was built, the truth is, Nigerians built those apps and none of these developers are on nairaland, they might have an account but they are not active.

If you need a very good app developer, look elsewhere, majority of app developers here don't know much and can't do the job, yes, they can't.


Except if the job you need is so vague and you don't have much funds, imagine an Android developer charging 50k for a job that says "an Instagram like app".

First off, you can't just collect a job and go cracking your head on how to clone Instagram into an app, secondly, you charged too little means you've not done much projects, which means you probably might deliver a very poor job which prolly will bring you back to square 1.


Before you start attacking me, I am a developer myself and I've done projects, plural, private fintech apps that require you to generate a rubies virtual account number. Now what is my point, no good developer would waste his time here, there's twitter, slack, and there's work, good developers are always busy, take note.

Nigerians are moving mad, everyday, the Android developers on twitter will humble you I swear.

You see this nairaland, its filled up with more of upcoming devs than professional devs, example is the guy that posted a link above.

Check our Cowrywise, mehn those guys are killing it, there are lots of nigerian apps out there that are just awesome.

Also, I've seen apps built by people from US, India, Brazil, and all these top countries, I've seen horrible horrible apps and the funny thing is... The downloads will be massive, I've seen way horrible apps with ugly UI and still have 10k downloads.

The Nigerian Android community is still new sef, give it time brother, you'll be amazed by what we can do...
