The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO) has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to explain to Nigerians how N5 trillion naira in oil and gas revenue has disappeared. In a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja, on Wednesday, President Jonathan was challenged to explain why over N5 trillion in oil and gas revenue vanished under his supervision, through fraud and embezzlement. “This government must answer the questions posed by the different committees and task forces that probed the oil and gas sector between 2011 and 2012. By this, we mean the Nuhu Ribadu-led Petroleum Task Force Report, the Minister of Trade and Investment’s report on stolen crude; the House of Representatives fuel subsidy report, coupled with the investigations into the ecological fund, SIM card registration and frequency band spectrum sale,” the APC campaign said. It recalled that a prominent newspaper had in its November 25, 2012 edition, alerted Nigerians to how over N5 trillion oil money had been stolen under Jonathan’s tenure. The APC Campaign while bemoaning the shock that the nation’s economy is currently going through as a result of the free-fall of the oil pries noted that waste and graft associated with the management of our oil and gas revenue has further compounded Nigeria’s economic predicament. The APC Campaign reminded Nigerians of the report of Punch Newspaper private investigation in 2012, http://www.punchng.com/news/n5tn-stolen-under-jonathan-investigation/ which was never responded to by the government. It noted that if the above scenario was frightening, what followed in the last two years has been worse and most flagrant. According to the APC Campaign, “industrial theft of oil surged from 250,000 to 400,000 barrels per day and remains unabated. The issue of corruption was also repackaged and lowered to the status of petty stealing. Worse still innocent whistle-blowers were hounded out of office.” SOURCE: http://tribune.com.ng/news/news-headlines/item/26740-where-is-n5-trillion-nigeria-s-oil-money-apc-queries-jonathan |

A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, says the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, will fail again like he did in 2007. Tinubu, who is a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, said Agbaje was not a salable candidate and was no match for the governorship candidate of the APC, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. The former governor said this at the Lagos-West senatorial district campaign of the APC on Wednesday. He accused Agbaje of lacking political experience even as he said the PDP candidate cannot manage Lagos economy. Tinubu wondered how Agbaje would be able to manage the economy of the state at a time when the country was experiencing economic hardship. The former governor said when the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration refused to give Lagos State its allocation and the state could not pay salaries, it was Ambode, who was the Accountant-General that re-engineered the economy which led to the increase in the Internally Generated Revenue and turned Lagos into one of the biggest economies in Africa. He said, “In 2007, we had governorship primary and Fashola won but he (Agbaje) failed and refused to accept the result. I told him to accept the fact that Fashola was more diligent and experienced than him but we told him to remain in the party and we would teach him the way but he refused. “You see, when a toddler is trying to run when he cannot even walk properly, his mother has to guide him so that he will not fall and break his teeth. He left and joined the Democratic Peoples Alliance. The DPA presented him as its candidate but he failed, we beat him mercilessly. “Later, he wanted to return to the party and we asked him if he would become a commissioner but we knew it was unlikely because he had even refused to be the deputy governor. Before we knew it, he had gone to join the Ebola party. God forbid that Ebola takes over Lagos. “See where we are coming from and where we are going. They say they want to replace us in Lagos. Someone who cannot take care of himself wants to take care of Lagos. Don’t experiment with Lagos.” Also speaking at the event, Fashola berated President Goodluck Jonathan for blaming past administrations for insecurity. He said, “I have never said I cannot do my job because my predecessor failed. To say that you cannot buy guns because Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) failed to do so is flimsy. Our military were one of the most respected and did well in Sierra Leone and Liberia. “Even if Buhari did not buy guns, is it the guns of 1985 that he wants to use to fight today?” The governor said he had been able to ensure 24-hour electricity supply at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and other government facilities. He said he was convinced that Ambode would be able to do more in other sectors. Ambode, while addressing supporters, said if the PDP took over Lagos, it would run down the economy of the state which has been improving despite the fall in world oil prices. He said his government would set up an employment trust fund and make loans available to entrepreneurs. He promised to ensure a 24-hour economy and do better than Tinubu and Fashola. The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, was discovered by his wife, Unoma. Describing his wife as ‘Mother Theresa’ and a jewel during the PDP campaign inauguration in Uyo on Tuesday night, the governor commended his wife for her foresight in spotting Emmanuel. He said, “Mother Theresa, Mkpouto Akwa Ibom; she is the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, who spotted Udom Emmanuel.” The governor also said that nobody could become a governor of a state without the support of the incumbent governor. He stated that he was successful because he was a part of former Governor Victor Attah’s succession plan. Akpabio noted that a candidate could only emerge from a system if the incumbent governor supports him. He added that it was Attah who encouraged him to be governor. The governor revealed that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State had wanted him to be his deputy so that he could take over from him in 2007. Akpabio revealed that the grouse of some of the 22 aggrieved PDP governorship aspirants in the state was that a sitting governor had never produced a successor in the state and that his case should not be an exception. “It was the then governor that produced me. I was a commissioner for five and a half years. I stayed until it was time for me to resign like the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Udom Emmanuel, resigned. Attah gave me his blessings. I went with my wife. I gave him a drink. I said, sir, I am now coming out to contest for your position.” The governor also stated that he asked the deputy governor of the state, Valerie Ebe, not to contest for the 2015 governorship election. It is practically an iconic photo by now -- a row of world leaders standing in solidarity next to one another, marching in Paris, united against terrorism. Most of them were men, but some were women, including Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany. She was right next to French President Francois Hollande. But ultra-Orthodox Israeli newspaper HaMevaser published a digitally altered front-page image of the leaders with the women removed. The unaltered photo of leaders during the march. The unaltered photo of leaders during the march. Ultra-Orthodox Jews traditionally don't prefer to show images of women because it's not considered modest. As Israeli newspaper Haaretz noted, political parties that represent the ultra-Orthodox sector ban women from running for office. But some feel changing the photo of the Paris march went way too far. It was downright "embarrassing," wrote Haaretz's Allison Kaplan Sommer. The message HaMevaser sent, Kaplan Sommer said, was tantamount to "denying the fact that in the wider world, beyond the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, women do stand on the world stage and shape events." In addition to Merkel missing from HaMevaser, other women leaders who disappeared from the photo are European Union security and foreign affairs chief Frederica Mogherini and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Tuesday said President Goodluck Jonathan’s comment that his generation had failed Nigerians was personal to him. He told the President to accept responsibility for his failure to address the challenges confronting the nation. Fashola spoke at a town hall meeting organised by the State Ministry of Transportation which had transport unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers’ in attendance. The governor said the president should summon courage and own up to his government’s failures in the last six years rather than point accusing fingers to past leaders. He said, “He (Jonathan) said his generation has failed; he should account for himself. I refuse to be part of the generation the President is referring to. “He is in his 50s, I am also in my 50s. But I don’t want to join that generation because my own generation has not failed; I have done well on my job and I am proud to say so. If he has failed, let him account for himself, he should not include us.” The governor said the issues that would form the basis of debate for the elections would be how well the citizens of the nation had fared under the present administration. Fashola said he was pained about the situation in the North East region of the country where citizens had become refugees in their country due to the inability of the government to tame Boko Haram. He said, “Instead of telling you how he plans to secure the nation, our president was telling you they tried to kill him four years ago and we did not know. That is a serious national security issue because nobody wants our Commander-in-Chief dead. If anybody tries to kill him, we should have known. And if I was Commander-in-Chief, and the person who tries to kill me is in a South African jail, I will ask that he should be repatriated to Nigeria to face punishment.” Fashola accused President Jonathan of looking for sympathy to woo voters ahead of the presidential election. Earlier, the heads of the transport unions present took turns to endorse the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was present at the occasion along with his deputy, Mrs. Oluranti Adebule. Ambode assured the transport workers of his commitment to further growth of the transport sector if elected into office. Civil rights groups and political parties have berated the Federal Capital Territory Administration for budgeting N4bn for the construction of First Ladies’ Mission House in Abuja. They said that the N4bn budget was a demonstration of the Goodluck Jonathan administration’s penchant for profligacy. The N4bn proposal was contained in the FCT’s N253bn budget for the 2013 fiscal year currently before the National Assembly. In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Emma Eneukwu, in Abuja, on Sunday, the All Nigeria Peoples Party described the budgetary provision as illegal, corrupt, and unpatriotic. It said since the Federal Government had earlier declared the mission as a non- governmental organisation, it would be inappropriate for the same government to spend public funds on it. The statement reads, “Our party believes that the matter is a non-issue as the budget for the complex is inherently illegal and should not waste the time of the distinguished senators in their work. “The fact on ground is that the Federal Government has already declared that the African First Ladies Peace Mission is a non-governmental organisation and could not be funded with the taxpayers’ money. Omimah:No, you are wrong. Jonathan has said many meaningful things since he started his campaign. Some of the meaningful things are listed below. 1. Jonathan said that Buhari does not know his phone number. - Jonathan seriously beliefs that you need your phone number to move Nigeria forward, build roads, build hospital, stabilize the naira, build refineries, e.t.c. 2. Jonathan also said that he will never send corrupt politicians to jail like Buhari did - Attempting to do that definitely means sending his wife the sheppopo and his mother who donated multi-million naira hostels to a university without any form of livelihood to jail. |

Don't they deserve anything too? When the man was alive, was he not giving his parents and siblings anything? Do you know how the man started the business? Do you know if the parents contributed their pension, brothers and sisters too source for funds for the dead man to start the business? He knows because he budgets millions of naira to fuel generators every year. A breakdown of the 2015 fuel budget is below, yet his e-worriors are everywhere saying "Jonathan till Jesus comes". The Federal Government has proposed the sum of N815.4m in 2015 budget breakdown for the purchase of fuel and lubricants for cars and generators for the Presidency, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and their parastatals. The 2015 proposal of N815.4m, for fuel and lubricants is seven per cent (N61,984,177) lower than the N877,472,369 approved in 2014. Out of the N815.4m, the fiscal document shows that a provision of N131, 911,315 was made for fuel and lubricants for the State House in 2015. The breakdown of the figure for state house shows that plant/generator fuel will consume N35, 344,855; motor vehicle fuel, N85, 843,802; and cooking gas/fuel, N10, 102,858; this year. The State House received lesser provision of N122, 855,267 for fuel and lubricants in the 2014 fiscal year. This was broken down into motor vehicle fuel, N79, 950,407; plants and generators, N33, 476,963, and cooking gas/fuel cost, N9, 427,898. For the vice-president, the 2015 budget proposal shows a provision of a total sum of N38,203,617 for the purchase of fuel and lubricants. This is 7.14 per cent or N2,548,624 lower than the 2014 provision of N35,654,993. A breakdown of the 2015 budget proposal of the vice-president shows that fueling of motor vehicle will consume the sum of N21,734,332, fueling of plant and generator has a provision of N12,734,332, while cooking gas/fuel is expected to consume the sum of N3,820,453. President Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation has said that there is no evidence linking the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), with the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram. It nevertheless described Buhari as representing darkness and a return to “our ugly past.” Director, Media and Publicity of the campaign organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, stated this at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. Fani-Kayode said, “The fact that we have said that Buhari made suggestions or statements in the past (on Boko Haram) doesn’t mean that the government has evidence against him. “But the APC has spoken against the proscription of the Boko Haram and if they take over, they might lift the ban on the sect.” He said the Federal Government could not arraign people on the issue of Boko Haram without sufficient evidence to prosecute such persons. Fani-Kayode also said the allegation against former Borno State Governor Ali Modu-Sheriff as sponsor of Boko Haram remained unproven because there had been no evidence to prove he was culpable. He said, “This government is not in the habit of arraigning people when there is no hard evidence; it does not convict people on the pages of newspapers. “You don’t convict people based on what the opposition is telling you. You convict people on the basis of evidence and the court convicts people, not government. If you have issues about that ask the court.” He dismissed the call by the opposition for the prosecution of Modu-Sherrif without evidence, wondering why they did not make the same call when the ex-governor was with the APC. The former governor was a member of the APC before he defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party few months ago. On Buhari’s candidacy, Fani-Kayode said that the February 14 presidential election would be a battle for the very soul and destiny of Nigeria, insisting that the former head of state was not a match for Jonathan. He said, “We believe that it is a struggle between light and darkness. We believe that Buhari represents the darkness and that President Jonathan represents the light. “We believe that Buhari represents a return to an ugly past, which is best forgotten while President Jonathan represents our hope for a greater and better future.” He said that the APC represented everything “that is unholy and unwholesome in our society and that the PDP represents all that is decent and good.” Fani-Kayode said that the the “change” campaign of Buhari represented nothing but a change from good to evil, adding that there was no way a positive change would come from a man like Buhari whose democratic credentials, he said, remained questionable. The former Minister of Aviation under former President Olusegun Obasanjo said that most people did not remember the atrocities Buhari allegedly committed when he was in power, but said his committee would document them and remind Nigerians about them. He said, “Most people have chosen to ignore the number of things that General Buhari has said and the number of things that he has done over the last few months and years that have brought carnage, division and strife in our society and that prove that he is not the sort of person that can be trusted with power. Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has sacked the Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Marie Ebikake, and his Special Adviser on Special Projects, Remmy Kuku. Ebikake and Kuku, it was learnt, were allegedly fired because of their closeness to the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience. There has been no love lost between Dickson and Patience over the latter’s alleged interference in the affairs of the state and plan to hijack the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party from the former. The sack of the two aides, which is with immediate effect, is contained in a special announcement on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson. The governor had in March 2014 sacked seven commissioners in a major cabinet shake-up since his administration came on board in February 2012. Those affected then were the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Francis Egele; the Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Industry, Ayakeme Massa; and the Commissioner for Health, Anapurere Awoli. Others were Nelson Belief, Tourism Development; Gesiye Isowo, Special Duties (Federal Projects); Parkinson Macmanuel, Science, Technology and Manpower Development; and Sylvanus Abila, Environment. It will be recalled that it was during that exercise that Ebikake, who has now been removed, was redeployed from the Ministry of Transport to Local Government Administration. The statement said the governor’s action was in line with his policy of re-organising the machinery of government to deliver on Dickson’s restoration agenda. It also announced that Dickson had ordered the immediate deployment of the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Markson Fefegha, as his new Principal Executive Secretary. The statement thanked Ebikake and Kuku for their services to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours. Meanwhile, Dickson has approved the depoloyment of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa, Didi Walson-Jack, to the Federal Civil Service, after three years of service in his government. A statement on Monday by Iworiso-Markson said Dickson expressed appreciation to Walson-Jack for her commitment and devotion to duty in the various capacities she served during her secondment.
