Senpurelove: Good Morning All,
Please i need a little clarification on the subject matter.
We are family of 4 Myself ,My wife and two daughters and my wife has applied for an admission into one of the uk universities. CAS has been given, Biometric Done in Abuja. But my little fear are as follows:
She has a study gap of 17 years but she is still with in 40years of age. She has a working experience of 15 years with 13 years working experience as a federal civil servant while the other two years was in a teaching Job.
My second fear is that she had her first degree in french Language and she is now going for a master in International Business Mgt.
Is there anything to worry about on the above?
Thanks As long as you filled all the information correctly, evidence of the wok experience for the study gap like employment letter, promotion letters, payslip you have nothing to worry about. You will surely get your visa |

Some universities entry requirements say applicants from different backgrounds are welcome & work experience is an added advantage but he wants to be sure to avoid been rejected later in the admission process
My cousin has BSC in Accounting & we work in the same NGO , he wants to make a career transition into health/social care. Please your input will be greatly appreciated What you need is a strong personal statement and if you have prior working experience working with any health related organization be it an NGO or health Insurance or Hospital it is an added advantage. Even if you don't have any, your SOP can be tweaked to meet it and get you admitted |

moses3: GoodMorning I had an interview on the 25th of may 2022 COA $35k Fees: $35k On my I-20 my sponsor was written as $35k they didn't state who he is to me.
VO: please pass your passport and I-20 Me: here is it. GoodMorning VO: GoodMorning why where you going Me: to study masters in Biz admin and mgt at the unvi of ... VO: why masters Me: I just felt it time to upgrade my skills as a professional. I have projects at hand that is to be handle professionally I need to be versed in my managerial skills to be able to handle such project. VO: where do you work? Me: I work in a law firm as the HR Manager VO: typed for a while and screwed up her mouse. Then Shaked her head. Who is your sponsor? Me: He is an associate at the firm I work for and also a family solicitors VO: you say what? Me: He is my family solicitors VO: brought out blue paper and passport was returned to me
I was denied.
Now I have contacted the school for a correction on my I-20. 1. The figure write was wrong. Guess I wasn't calculated well. That has been rectified now 2. I still returned my sponsor as it was the account statement I used in acquiring my I-20. It's a corporate account. I asked them to change where the sponsor is written as $35k to the company name on the account 3. The idea of all this is because I don't intend changing too many things so it doesn't like suspicious.
Please house and professional advisers please I need you to help me look into this and give me the best solution as I am about to re-applying you will still get denied even if you go ten times with your current sponsor. A family solicitor is someone your family pays for his/her legal services, the VO won't even wait to hear why your family solicitor will be paying $35k for your education. It does not sound rational. Find another sponsor that can sound convincing to the ear |

If the fourth person filled the three other siblings are in USA and still got visa then I believe you can get too. I feel you should find out especially from the fourth person if he filled the three others during his VISA application so can know what to do also, the chances of getting visa approved with three siblings already is almost the same with you having four. |

Green paper. I was shocked though.
Please what’s the actual problem. I presume it was my response with how I got to know the school that triggered the refusal.
Please I need clarification.
Thank you. There is a disconnect between your intended program of Public health and your future career plan of coming back to work in a retail pharmacy chain. You would have responded with this degree will enable you to take up roles as a program coordinator or xyz position in xyz NGO which focus on tackling the challenges of this and that( eg substance abuse) which I have discovered to be prevalent among young people in my years of working in the pharmacy industry. * The missing piece is the link between your pharmacy experience, Public health degree and your future career plan. |

Can others please also throw more light in this please. Thank you he should apply for a masters, getting date for PLAB 1 in Nigeria is becoming more difficult as slots gets filled up in minutes of the portal opening. He will even be able to save more towards his PLAB when working as a student there, he will definitely get a Job while awaiting completion of PLAB 1 and 2 in UK as a doctor if he finishes his masters ( healthcare assistant and other support roles in NHS). Transition will be easier after PLAB 2 as he is already in the country and with experience of the system. My contact details are on my signature for any assistance |

Mres is advised if your goal is to pursue a PhD after especially applying to schools like USA that will need good research experience. But if you don't have goal of going into further research then pick the regular Msc |

So I decided to focus my search on biomedical science for January/February intake. public is only good for those with professional medical degree that can get licensed in their field like medical Laboratory Scientist, pharmacist, radiographers etc. The degree is to get into UK faster and then do necessary license procedure and start applying for job. If you are not In a licensed medical field here, don't go for public health |

Tirinng: Nigpatriot Ummzayd Moshkom and every other helping person Good morning
Please i need advice
COA is 56,000 (tuition: 32, other expenses 24) There's a 50% scholarship off tuition which is 16000
Deficit; 40,000. No sponsor, No personal funding. The department says there's a probability of securing on campus employment or graduate assistantship after resumption.
This might be my last opportunity
Should I go for it? In reality it is almost impossible for you to make 40k USD from any student part time job. Moreover you need to prove to the VO how you want to cover the deficit of 40k and you can't say you will get a job on campus when you get there for it. |
Travel › Re: Please, I Need An Urgent Advice On Relocating To UK by SIMPLIFIED(m): 11:22am On May 25, 2022 |
Classicalife: Please note; I'm using this new account to hide my identity.
This thread forced me to seek for an advice here; https://www.nairaland.com/7141606/should-leave-job-japa-uk
Let me establish some facts (Not a show-off please): 1. I have a wife and 2 kids (Married). 2. I am a freelancer, I'm also working online with an American startup firm (they gave me the liberty to continue with my freelancing). 3. I make from N600k upward on a monthly basis. I made 1M in April. 4. I just acquired a landed property (No land grabber issue).
To start with, my elder brother is in the UK, he advised/invited me to come to the UK with my family using the student route. Meanwhile, he is not aware of my achievements here in Nigeria and he doesn't know where I'm currently working. He assumed I'm still working in my previous place of work (I didn't tell him either).
Personally, I don't like to be a liability nor a burden to anyone and I like to be independent. I know being a postgraduate student in the UK comes with some rules/restrictions such as the number of hours I could work during the programme (perhaps 20hrs max; I'm currently on 35hrs/week with the US firm hoping to increase it to 40hrs).
Now, this is where I need a very honest advice from the good people of Nairaland. Should I go to the UK or stay back in Nigeria with my family?
Thank you so much for your time and advice.
lalasticlala, Seun, and Mynd44. Please, help me take this to the front page for more inputs. Thanks! What you are currently making as a freelancer is enough for you in Nigeria but will not sustain your family in the UK, also you cannot be able to meet the 35hrs remote work studying full time in the UK. I will advise you continue your work here, save up for aggressively until you have enough funds that can sustain you and your family in UK for at least 6months outside your school expenses before relocating. If your wife is in the position to be the principal applicant for the study route and you become dependent with unlimited working hours then it will be feasible to relocate now |

Please what do you advice to cover for study gap for someone applying for another masters and in this situation: Finished BSc Dec 2014, NYSC May2015 - April 2016, Npower Program Dec 2016 -Dec 2018 MSc Dec 2018 - Dec 2021
Note : can't get reference or any documentary evidence for the Npower, except bank statement probably. Haven't gotten the result for the MSc done due to uni strike. Can an explanatory letter from probably the project supervisor suffice? Or can the person not bother about the evidences and just submit a CV indicating them all? you don't necessarily need a reference for the work experiences. You need just two letters of recommendation for most schools and could come from academic or work. You can reach out if you need help with preparing the CV and SOP |

I graduated with a 3.13/5 in Computer Science from a federal university.
Do I stand a chance of gaining admission to a Master's program in Computer Science? And hopefully with partial or full funding. I plan on writing GRE.
I will appreciate your response. with your GPA I will advise you do a WES evaluation which can boost your GPA and also write the GRE, prepare very well for the GRE. Hope you have programming skills also. You should have a Github which will highlight your programming experience as you are going for computer science. These are some things that can increase your chances of getting a scholarship |
Career › Re: Biochemistry Graduate Under Pressure To Study Nursing; Please Advise by SIMPLIFIED(m): 3:59pm On May 18, 2022 |
NaughtyBrainiac: Hello All,
A friend studied Biochemistry in one of Nigeria's Federal Universities, she has completed NYSC but she does not have a job yet.
Her brother who currently resides in the UK wants her to enrol in a school of Nursing in Nigeria and she is not happy with what her brother wants.
I asked her if her brother's reason is because Nursing is profitable in the UK and she said YES, that's his reason. The goal is that she'd eventually relocate to the the UK.
My concerns are:
1. Why study a course like Biochemistry and go back to a school of Nursing? Aren't there better alternatives? 2. Most of the people I know that attended school of Nursing always go back to the Univeristy for BSc. Nursing. 3. School of Nursing in Nigeria will take her about 3 years and I am sure she will still need to write some exams before she will be able to work as a Registered Nurse in the UK.
Are there possibilities of moving to the UK to study that version of Nigerian School of Nursing? If yes, how expensive is it?
On the other hand, if she's able to go to the UK for her masters, masters in what course can she apply for (please bear in my that she is a Biochemistry graduate) that would give her chances of securing a good job in the UK ( At least, a kind of job that would still make her earn something close to what Nurses earn)?
Please advise. Thank you There are three viable options I will suggest for her. 1) Take the advice of the brother and go to school of Nursing, there are lots of people with first degree going back to study nursing. Three years is a short time, she may have nothing tangible in three years time running contract bank job or one sales job with target as opportunities for Biochemistry are almost non existent with lack of research facilities. School of Nursing does not go on strike unlike going to the university, and she will be done in 3years as against five for university nursing. UK places both on same scale and she can do a top bsc in one year over there if she starts working. 2) If the brother can sponsor her for a masters in UK she can go for MSc in Biomedical Sciences with placement which will give her opportunity to gain experience of the NHS laboratory system. She will then apply to IBMS UK for top up modules in order to take courses relevant to get HCPC registration as a UK Biomedical scientist ( Biochemistry option). Biomedical scientist are in demand in the UK also and start on a level higher than Nurses in the UK. 3) Gain 6-12months work experience in hospital setting in Nigeria, she can do auxiliary program or voluntary assistant work to gain clinical experience and apply for MSc Mental health or Adult Nursing in the UK Pre registration. This is for 2years and will enable her to register as Nurse in UK. Although more expensive than normal masters program and usually application is more stringent. I have a friend resuming this September in UK for same program with a bachelor in Medical Biochemistry and working experience in Primary health center. |

JourneyOutOf9ja: I’m a graduate working in a financial institution and after 3 years I have managed to save 5m.
I want advise on applying for graduate schools abroad.
Factoring Ease of getting admission and visa and Cost which country should I be applying to (you can suggest universities too).
Right now I have applied to UK schools as it is easiest to get admission and also Visa but the cost is not cheap.
Please are they better or other good options?
I have taken leave off work to apply for schools this month, I need your advise, I need to leave Nigeria this year. If you have 5m just focus on applying to UK and ignore those Cyprus and Co post. You need to look towards post graduation also not just cheap cost of education. Look for UK schools with not too high tuition and living expenses. You can survive it with student jobs and good planning. Also apply for courses that have high chance of visa sponsorship post study, look at the shortage occupation list and find programs closely related to your degree or work experience and apply for them. UK admissions for September intake has closed but January will soon be opened around July, you have enough time to prepare and gather all the information and documents you need to apply |
