So my interview was by 6:30, i got there around 3am, due to Lagos traffic, because i live in Ikorodu, i don't want to take any risk i would later regret.

Interviewer was a black American lady, sort of busty. Window 5

ME: Good morning, How was the holiday (Easter)

VO: Good morning it was great, yours?

ME: Great also, thank you.

VO: What course did you study for your 1st degree?

ME: Linguistics

VO: When did you graduate?

ME: 2019

VO: Have you ever traveled out of Nigeria before?

ME: No i haven't

VO: So why is it now you are going for your masters after 4 years?

ME: I needed to acquire some set of skills before going for masters, which i did, but then masters degree has a very big edge over bachelors degree here in Nigeria.

VO: But it is also the same way in the US.

ME: Well, like i said before, i have traveled out of Nigeria before, so i can't say i know how it is outside the country, i only know for my home country.

VO: (Smile) So what do you do currently?

ME: I was a software developer as at last year October when i filled my DS-160 form, but now i am a content and program editor for a radio station (radio name)

VO: I want to know what you do currently?

ME: I am a content and program editor.

VO: Who is funding you?

ME: I have a GA with the school and my elder sister is paying for the remaining deficit.

VO: What does your sister do?

ME: She is a Senior Software developer and also has a side business, which is real estate.

VO: (Typed for long and fast, then she looked at me and said) Your visa has been approved, congratulations...

It takes time before I'm able to retrieve my application, then once I do, and I'm filling the form, once I click save, it takes me back to the homepage, or it says session time out. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Since your have the offer now, why not start with the date search. You can get a favorable date. Yesterday, Lagos released a lot of dates. Don't defer to spring yet when you still have a lot of time. And also, is the GA included in your new i20

Hello everyone. Please I need your advice. I got an Msc admission (full funding with GA offer) for fall 2023. Based on the issuance of the GA, here are stringent conditions given:

- They will hold a teaching Graduate Assistantship for me from July 1, 2023.

-At this time, they ask that I demonstrate that I have obtained a Visa so that they know if I will be able to study and work during the Fall 2023 semester.

-If I am are unable to obtain a Visa by this date, they reserve the right to withdrawal the teaching Graduate Assistantship offer to ensure that they have an instructor in place to teach their classes

-If I am able to obtain a Visa, I will also need to obtain a social security number, which can only be done when I'm in the United States
I can set up a meeting at a social security office no more than 30 days before the start of my work appointment.

-Given this timeline, to give myself the best chance of being able to start work at the beginning of the fall 2023 semester, I should be in the United States and have an appointment with the social security office July 14 or 17, 2023 as School resumes 4th August.

Please guys, I need your honest advice.

I know that visa appointment in June will be tedious and difficult; to give myself more time for preparation, is it advisable to defer to spring or summer 2024 and still retain the GA offer.

Your advice and suggestions will highly be appreciated.

N:B I have an old I20 but will still have to wait for the updated I20.

My advise is if evaluating your results will make your application competitive, why not put in the hard work. Somz schools may tell you you don't need English proficiency test but if you include in your application, they will still consider it

WES is unnecessary if your school does not require it. Just like not all schools in the USA make it mandatory to take the English proficiency exams, they also have schools that do not require WES evaluation. I think those are schools the we coming from Nigeria should apply to. Considering all the fees we have to pay and all the restrictions on international transactions, I just think we should check these requirements before applying to any school. Just my opinion.

This courses will help me acquire the skills I need to be a creative Writer.

How many Schools did you apply to : I said three and all gave me admission but I chose South Dakota state university because of its interdisciplinary approach to literature and robust Curriculum , I won't just be taking literature but I will also be taking creative writing, professional editing courses and this course will help me the expertise that I need to become a Writer (I actually applied to 10 Schools, three rejections, two waitlisted me. I got three funded offers, awaiting decision from others)

Me :I answered again with my company name, I want to start with my Job description again She said it's fine.

VO: Are you married
Me: I said No, but I am engaged and We will be getting marry in May

VO : Will he be coming with You

You never know the outcome until you try. Just tell them that you can't get a date, they understand all these things and lagos has been releasing early dates but non in abuja. Message your school again. Don't give up yet. Pele!

It’s the second time the school assisted me in my deferred letter all coz of getting date and they adjusted my the resumption day upfront so that I will be able to get a date. My first letter was November last year and this second time the date on the letter was moved to March 13 to 20 and now I can’t find date and my emergency date was not approved again.

What should I do now?
Or is it possible to still be considered for deferment again the second time ?

Or it’s the end of the road?
And channel my energy on getting another admission again?
