First of all I want to return all glory to God for everything, I want to tell you reading this that all powers belong to Jesus Christ, I have expirenced another miracle in my life today, put all your trust in God, he liveth and he can do all things,
Prayer is the key, I have been praying since January till now about my interview I fasted throughout the past 3 months and my lovely mom backed me up as well.

I got in to the embassy by 6:00AM when I got to the embassy I went somewhere and prayed I told God Abuja will favour me, I picked some sands after praying I dropped the sands.

Me: Good morning ma'am,

VO: Good morning, how are you doing, ma'am I'm pretty good.

VO: which course are you going for?

Me: funeral services and mortuary science.
(She was shocked, I noticed her reaction and I told her my mother is mortuary , sorry my mother owns 3 mortuaries, and she makes use of old method, but I'm going to XYZ to learn a new method on the preservation of the corps, that each mortuaries contains 150- 200 coprs, at this point I was just talking rubbish fear catch this woman, she asked me so how did my mom embalm here in Nigeria?

Me: once person dies I understand how the family feels she said No, like I should tell her how my mom do embalm.
I told her if someone dies she will first of all give the dead body Injection and everything dries before she will now apply the embalming cream.

I just keep quiet she was typing she asked what's the name of the mortuary I told her, I ask her ma'am did you need any other information she said No, No No,
She was busy typing, Omo at this point I was looking at her hand, she carry pen wey dey on top of the blue papers my heart come fly, but I was very bold also demonstrating with my hands like sabinus😭
she moved her hands towards the white papers carry one give me, na so God run am for me 😥😭👏👏, within 2 minutes.

I want to thank God almighty for his grace in my life 😭😭😭

Thank you so much and God bless you @⁨Olubukola_O⁩

I am given admission for MS in USA for Fall 2023 and my school gave me a graduate assistantship financial aid of $28,800 and I am to pay the deficit of $5,660. One of the terms and conditions is that the graduate assistantship will take effect in Fall 2023. Please how can I apply for visa so that I can get an appointment date between May to July 2023 and also which is the best place to apply for f1 visa, Lagos or Abuja?

Thank you all for your advice.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 6:22pm On Apr 21, 2023
Yesterday was somehow at the Lagos Embassy. They said most of the people she gave white papers were majorly those going for PhD. You can try Abuja. Don't give up yet
folamorgan:
If you were there yesterday you would understand the whole scenario. I'm an "expressive" individual. I have mastered the art very well I won't lie to you.
Firstly, this woman was not ready to listen, I was actually forcing myself to spew out the few I could. She was cutting everything. Immediately she asked a question and you are about to answer her, she would cut it instantly. The few things you saw that came out of my mouth, I spoke them forcefully. She wasn't listening to people, she was just issuing out the blue paper after few questions without expecting replies.
Firstly, she didn't ask a question related to how the course would help my career or company but I still wanted to chip it in when I was telling her about my funding, what I do and even why I picked the school yet she did not allow me to talk on it. She stopped me abruptly
Secondly, I already prepared financial statement and I cannot give her if she didn't ask for it, I can only defend it with my mouth and I think I did justice to an extent to that by mouth, by telling her how much I pay myself from each of the companies monthly and the total annual income. It is against their rules to bring out documents if they don't asl for it, that can disqualify one.
Lastly, on the home ties, we didn't get there in the first place. I wanted to use the opportunity of why I chose the school to explain home ties but she didn't allow me.
And I want to tell you that the few words I wad able to speak out, I managed to maneuvered her questions towards them, she didn't bother to ask or even care to listen. She was quick to say, ok or I got it. For example, check the questions you will discovered that when she asked that was that the only school I chose, that was when I started using the opportunity to let her know the reason I chose the school among the three. She didn't ask to that extent but since I have discovered her pattern I wanted to see if I could maneuvered myself to speak out my unique story. But the truth is you can only convince someone that cares to listen to you. At least, she gave more than 7 people before me blue paper, including a man that has travelled to different countries like France, Germany, UK, etc. The man was articulated enough and he has a strong home ties with evidence but what finally came out of the woman mouth was "sorry, you are not qualified for this visa".
And nobody should tell me that I didn't pray o, I prayed, I quoted the bible, I did everything necessary and I also prepared by reading more than one hundred transcripts and listening to Argo, an online organisation founded by over 20 former US visa officers, where they educate people on how to answer visa questions. And I practiced all these in mocks with people and alone.
I believe probably, that's just God's will. Maybe He has another plan for me

Shop at discount stores, warehouse clubs and outlet stores

I could probably write a whole thread on getting stuff at highly discounted prices in stores. Coming from Nigeria where I learned to haggle in open markets, the mindset of getting a good deal stuck with me. The great thing about America is that even though you generally don't haggle, you can get amazing discounts if you only know how and when to buy. I used to think that Walmart was one of the cheapest places to buy groceries, clothes etcetera, boy was I mistaken!! Here are some tips I learned

1. One of the cheapest stores for groceries in the USA is Aldi not Walmart. If you have an Aldi near where you live, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You will be amazed at their prices.

2. If you have a family you will get massive savings by joining a warehouse club. A warehouse club is basically a store that sell bulk items cheaper than regular stores. I tend to favor Costco over Sams Club because they have a much better selection of products. Not only is food cheaper, but electronics, gas(fuel), drugs and alcohol is also cheaper at warehouse clubs.

3. Outlet stores are stores that sell things like electronics, furniture, designer clothing, furniture etc at discounted prices. If oyu are looking to buy any of these things, you might want to check an outlet store first

Good morning lovely people. I just came across this thread. I was denied a visa twice even with full funding and it broke my heart that I couldn't apply for admission this fall. I know studies are the easiest route as they told us and that's why I wanted to ply that route that was why I sought a scholarship as there's no way I could afford education outside. Please, what other route can one go through considering life as a Nigerian. Thank you all

Anyway, my younger sister applied for BSc political science in the US. She has been offered admission. The tuition fees appears reasonable so I've accepted to sponsor her. Her resumption date is this August. House, can she meet up, please?

What are the next step for her. We have no idea of how to go about it or if she will even get interview date before August.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

TravelRe: How Did You Survive Your Divorce In The UK? by Sisib15: 12:48pm On Apr 16, 2023
Kai!!! Such a sad story. Marriage gets scary day by day
beyondbasicsng:
I will tell u a short story -

As per this info we only know from an outsiders POV and my story is also an outsiders POV.

Sometime last year a family I know got into brouhaha and I will state this - just because the husband wanted out of a marriage where HE has been controlling his wife since they got married. His mum wasn't an exception either as she is a typical Nigerian woman who was battered by her own husband and ALLOWS her son/children to continue to tow in abusive line to their spouse/significant other!

The woman in question - left a well paying Jon to join her husband in the South after getting married but that was the beginning of her end. Slowly but surely he started keeping away her from her friends, became controlling of her, financially as she had to depend on him especially because where they lived had no job prospects as where she left.

Fast forward when they had baby - his mum was verbally and mentally abusive, said all sort of things because baby was via CS... ETC. On moving abroad, the financial abuse became even worse - he says she can only spend about 40 on food - don't turn heating on, don't watch TV (although he claimed this was gotten for her and their kids) - Please note she had previously lived abroad before going back to get married to him. She encouraged him moving her because he's a doc. He git here, saw the life and film lifestyle changed.

Wetin Abu eye no see for gate! He would compare her to his SIL but when she tried getting jib he wouldn't give dime fir her travels. One day, after abt 3 yrs in abroad he took her phone away so no form of communication- she in turn gave him sim card because he paid for it. Then she communicated with her sib during which she stated she wld rather die than be in the situation she was in -which prompted sis to ask her to come to hers.

Guy calls sis and blames sis for taking her away even though the woman explained the reason behind it. Turns out this guys is a narcissist who wants to control. The guy shared her sis no with his mum - this woman then decides because she wants to speak to DIL n grandkids o she had the right to just call dils sis on a wkday by video call during working hours. When the girls sis responded the woman tells her son that the girl was rude and wanted an apology!

This girl finally gets a job that pays a lot and was able to afford things that's how the husband became jealous as she's not been repressed anymore.

That's how they had another fight and he let me state again HE calls the police on her stating that she was driving without license (which is true buy he had also bought her a car which she drove without license earlier in the year) and he was worried about her because she was taking some drugs which is no longer in her drug compartment. He gave the police her number, plate number and continued his day as if nothing happened!

As God will have it when police reached the girl, she was asked to come to the station and given a warning but asked if she knew why her husband will do such - that's when she told them about the DV she had suffered (controlling, emotional, financial, verbal and physical, manipulated, gaslit) that night police went and picked him up and he slept in jail! Did you think she would have told the police abt this issues? No but the husband himself wanted her to suffer because that day after calling the police and when she didn't return home, he picked up their kids, turned alarm on as if she wasn't getting back home!

What was even more surprising is he ended up telling his family he was worried about her but actually never called her own family before ringing the police. His mother has not been in contact since this happened, well shes already said she isnt her daughter but again the girl doesnt give her anything like the other girl. His own brother also drove years without license- such hypocrisy.

So the point now is - I'm telling u this story because I know the story and I know the boy is a narcissist who after realising he couldn't control her anymore, let me discard her whilst discrediting her.

Just be careful of the stories you choose to hear or listen to, when someone absolves themselves of blame - smthing us wrong. Question them because there are manipulative ppl our there

May we not become diary of a mad black woman because many nigerian woman have suffered and are still suffering due to the patriarchal nature of the society and the women who actually also harbour this! His mum suffered humiliation etc with his own father and she's also with her full chest hen! baba e lo Jo! imagine

I need to prepare myself very well for South Dakota state. With the reviews I have been reading online about South Dakota state. That staye looks scary to me and I will be heading to South Dakota state university this fall.

Please, Is there anything I should prepare for regarding that state
godG:
If you are not fan of cold, avoid South Dakota. I have lived in the midwest for almost a decade and I can tell you that SD is cold. Easily one of the 15 coldest states in the US.

If you want a quiet and affordable life with a touch of activities to not get you bored, go to Ohio or Mizzou. Midwestern states are generally good for starting and raising a family. Mind you, whatever you get in the midwest will be dependent on the city you settle in.

Iowa, though... I am a quiet person and I consider Iowa TOO quiet for my liking. I drove through the state during a road trip last summer, it is a quiet, 'corn-tastic' state. Has some really good, less-trafficked roads, though! Ultimately, my guess is that you will be bored in Iowa, except, maybe, you live in Iowa City.

I really do not know much about Kentucky (except being the birthplace of KFC) and North Carolina (aside from having a vibrant Black population. So, you guys will be close to the culture.).

In all, don't take any of these too seriously, pray to God to lead you to a place where you can fulfill His purpose for you this season. Best wishes and welcome to the greatest country in the world!

I said if it's family funds that is stated on your I-20, you can as well use any of your parents like your mom is okay even if she doesn't have such amount because it sounds more convincing and the Vo doesn't ask for bank statement, however If you want to go with your uncle is fine too,own your story and be ready to answer why would your uncle wants to spend such a huge amount on you

Thank u very much!! I no longer have a father (deceased).. so the option of a maternal uncle should make sense if mother doesn't have such funds to cover

TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 1:00pm On Apr 12, 2023
You are not going to cancel your appointment, the thing is you keep clicking on the cancel option so you can see a new date. When you see a favorable date you then use the reschedule button to schedule the date. You don't have to pay for a new MRV. You can only reschedule four times. Assuming you have August 15 as you appointment date, and you see may dates. You can reschedule but if the dates you are seeing are closer to the one you have don't reschedule so that you won't waste your mrv
Ebisign:
This is interesting. I have be doing this for 2 weeks now and the only dates I have been seeing are in September, October and, November. Does it actually work? That is after picking a date, one can still be able to see earlier dates when available, cancel previous appointment and book an early appointment date? Will it affect the visa fee which has already been paid?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 11:21am On Apr 12, 2023
Keep searching for date. This is my trick, I picked a not favorable date, then I used the cancel option to check for date without canceling my old date. So when a favorable date comes, I was able to know very quickly. What this trick does is that you can refresh the website for 3 hrs straight without logging out but once the website logs you, do not trt to login again for that day unless your account will be frozen for three days
bmichael22:
Currently, 11th October 2023. I've been checking for an earlier date to pick, but haven't found so far.
I plan on opting for emergency approval when it's 2months prior to my resumption date (19th August).
