Oh,it kinda of expensive and they usuallydon'thave funding like that
chaiks:
San Diego state university. I don't know my deficit yet. I have sent them my official transcript. Hoping to get the formal offer letter detailing all financial awards and deficits.

Can someone please tell me why this? I am trying to search for date but this is what it has been showing me.

Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 9:46pm On Mar 03
Which of the SDSU, is it southdakotastateuniversity? And what is your deficit
chaiks:
Just got admitted to SDSU. They are offering me 3500 USD scholarship, masters research fund amounting to 10k USD annually, nomination for presidential scholarship which would provide a non-resident tuition waiver for five semesters and then possibilities of other work appointments. I am now in the process of sending my official transcripts. What should I do guys?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 1:59pm On Jan 17
It's depends on how your school process transcript. They can send it to WES through UPS. You should go there and talk to your principal that's the only way I know
Ellskc:

Thank you 🙏
So it is my school what will mail the physical copy of both my waec and highschool transcript to Wes?
Or it is electronically?
What if I’m not able to get in contact with my school?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 4:39am On Jan 17
For the WES evaluation, You will create an account with WES and then input your academic details, you will select WES ICAP evaluation and also choose US academicevaluation .After that you will need to pay the WES fee of about 217 dollars or so you can check on the website to confirm. This is the trick i used when i was in Nigeria, i dont have the money to pay yet, so i created the account ,fill in my academicdetails (my two results) in your case it will be WAEC or high school.so i thenproceed to use western union as a means of payment (which i don't have the money ) I clicked on the western union thing and I was able to generate an ID .It is this ID i sent to my schools in Nigeria that they use to sent my result to WES.
What I am saying is that you need to generateWES ID which you will take to your high school so they can send your result to WES .

For the third question, i don't know the session you are applying for. If it's fall i will suggest your start your application before march because most schools with funding would have rolled out admissions and funding before you even finish applying .you might be lucky to get admitted but funding might be difficult because you are applying late .If your application is for spring, you are good to go but funding opportunities in spring is limited.
For the third question, the cost of your tuition will determine the amount that you need to present to get your I20. If your aunty will be sponsoring be ready to prove to the VO why you aunty will be spending such a huge amount of money on you when you parents are alive. I hope this helps and if you need any information. Quote me

Ellskc:

Please anyone 🙏 I really need some assistance on this

I willlike to ask about the teaching license, is it compulsoryto be a citizen before you can write the exams
molybdenum0012:

It's not been easy, got two interviews same week for same role, health physicist/radiological health specialist.

The first interview went well as they only asked non-technical questions such as tell us about yourself as someone rightly suggested. I got the offer. But it's in another State, which means I will have to relocate to accept the offer. The pay is a little below 50k/annum. So, I feels it does not worth relocating for so I declined it.

The second interview included technical and non technical questions. I did not prepare for the technical questions even though I managed to answer 2 questions correctly out of 5. For the non technical questions I answered all correctly.

So, right now I don't know if they will offer me the job 'cos obviously I failed the technical questions aspect. I will just give them 2 weeks, if I did not hear from them I move on.

I am also considering teaching in the high school, so already I have rewritten the license exam which I passed and I have like two interviews in the weeks to come.

This is my 7th month here it has not been easy looking for job at all. I can't even count the number of applications I have sent out already with plenty regret emails.

I am only working remotely with a non profit organization for now, and they only give me 20 hours per week of work. You can imagine how small the pay is. If nothing sup by next month, I might just get a small car to use as Uber in addition to my part time job.

Hi,
I would like to apply for Canada tourist visa from USA. Please how can I go about it
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 7:26pm On Jan 14
I have forgotten how this is done but i think he needs to wait for 5 days and if he doesn'tget a responsehe can call CGI
Eke40seven:
Apologies if these questions have been answered already; I could not find answers through my search.

Q: A friend got an F1 visa for a PhD (sponsored) but not in Nigeria. His family are still in Nigeria. He booked an appointment on behalf of his family, but he received a message saying they would contact them via email.
Please, how long does it take before one receives this email from the embassy? How soon can the family get the appointment?
I look forward to your answers

I don'tlike discouraging peoplebecausei believe everyone'sjourney is different and you may not know the outcomeof your situation unless you try.
Funding makes the F1 Journey easier in all its ways and you can also get Visa without funding but it all depends on how you play your card and prove to the VO
idirect:

Unrelated but I did appreciate expert opinions on this please.
What can influence the decision for someone to apply for visa with his/her family (partner and kid)? Is it when you have funding? Enough personal/family fund? What will be the home tie in this situation please?

All of you can go for the interview but it based on 50/50 without funding but if there is funding it will make the interview easier. For your case, the 1500 funding is too small. You don't need to pay all at once before going to school but you need to prove to the VO that you can capable of taking care of all the financial expenses including living expenses and others
Khodry:
Please house anybody with information about UF. My wife was given Msc admission with partial scholarship of $1500 dollars per semester for 3semester for fall 2024. Can we go together and our kid and if possible how is the expenses? From what I see in the site tuition is about $13000 and other expenses accrue to about $30000 are we to pay all or some will be in block account? and the Visa processing how is it?
Please it is urgent
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 2:52am On Jan 14
Lol.Visa mock People will just be giving nonsense advice up and down. If you admission comes with funding please stick with it
idirect:
Hello people,
Please, I need help. I'm pretty confused right now. I attended a mock interview and the information I got is not encouraging at all.
So, I have my first degree in Business Administration and I have been working as a non-academic staff in a high institution for about seven years now.
I applied for Msc Higher Education Administration in about three schools, Student Affairs Administration in one school and Postsecondary school administration and student affairs in another school. I'm optimistic that I will get at least admission with partial funding in one these schools.
The issue is here is that, I was informed by the guys who anchored the mock interview that I should not go to the embassy with an admission that is not related to my first degree. He added that the course I applied for is not even useful in my home country. He advised that I should apply for MBA or something close my first degree. I really don't know what to do at this point please

You should have done your investigationbefore giving him money.
Honiejenny:

You guys be careful with this guy. I am working with him presently and I will not say much because I am taking this case to the police on Monday morning. I also have his account details which I will also report. But this issue is till on going. When I get to the root of this matter. I will come online to talk about my experience with NewBoyKhashoggi. And if he rectifies his mistakes then I will still come online and clear the air. I will keep everyone updated.

Travel / Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Sisib15: 12:39am On Jan 12
Thank you!
I will look into it
Taal17:

Look at research work attached to Universities, they get funding opportunities and can give sponsorships
Also look at us based organisations and consultancies that do international development work. Most of these are in the East coast e.g IIE
Look into test development in say literacy

Civil service sector always needs teachers you can see their job openings or at least find out what you need to work as a teacher eg certs and see opportunities.

Just have your strategy of places/ organisations to target so you track opportunities open to you.

I think the basics is ; introduction, body and conclusion as we were taught.
Also make sure , each paragraph conveys an idea i.e ( if you are writing about 3 ideas , you will have a paragraph for introduction, 3 paragraph for the ideas (body) and a last paragraph for conclusion).

For the sentence structure, start with the main point (the first 2/3 sentences in the paragraph), so the readers know exactly what you’re writing about without having to read everything. Then the remaining sentences can be used to explain the first sentences.

Also re-read to ensure there is a logical flow in your words.

I don’t know if this helps and there are different types of writing (e.g a thesis and dissertation will be different, I assume that’s not what you need help with but assignments in class)

A tip : I always make my introductions catchy , so the reader has no option than to be intrigued. Though there is a school of thought that believes catchy introductions are cliches.

And its more peaceful in the midwest compare to other state
Rachie83:
Hello everyone, it's nice to come across this thread. I remember around 2916/17 I used to read on thread like this while I was in Nigeria hoping to find myself in the US someday but exactly end of 2017 I got in with my hubby. Anyway to those who still contemplating of coming to US do not give up your dream although US is very hard to get in now but some people are still coming in. US is a land of opportunities with less cost of living compare to Canada and UK although it depends on the State you are. If you are a new immigrant midwest states are the best for you(Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa, part of Illinois,
Missouri etc) interm of settling in on time because the cost of living is cheaper and a lot of job opportunities for new Comer although the cold is much during the winter. I would not advise new comers with no legal status to stay in Atlanta, Texas, California, Florida etc Atlanta Georgia is out of the pictures because the state pays lower and some bills are higher eg Auto insurance is ×3 of that of Indiana. Texas is not expensive but no immigrants job(if you understand what I mean) California is generally expensive. We landed in Indiana which really helped us to get settled on time but we chose to explore and we moved to Atlanta but that was a mistake and we are planning to relocate back to Indiana.

I am here to give one or two input when it comes to issues here in the US.

There is space for everyone in the US.However do your research and homework very well before jumping into f1. If you don't have sponsors, apply to cheaper schools. If you can get funding ,please strive for that too .All in all ,do your homework so that you can get it right.

When you tell people to plan well before jumping to obtain a visa, they tell you you're trying to block their destiny. Your friend is in a lot of trouble. Her only option is to get a transfer. If she goes out of status, it will be difficult to reinstate her.

This is so funny
Abi1985:
Nigerian food and cuisine is very rich and diverse. I personally think Nigerian food is the best. But unfortunately there are some Nigerian restaurants overseas who give Nigeria food a bad reputation. Sometimes they just cook rubbish and serve to international customers. Food is what bring people together, stop cutting corners and cook the food well. Foreigners know what good food taste like even when they try Nigerian food for the first time. When rubbish is served, some go online and write bad reviews or even joke how bad Nigeria food is lol.
If you cannot cook , please do not open a restaurant especially if you happen to be the very few Nigerian restaurant in that city, town or state. It is bad enough that some foreigners associated Nigerians with internet fraud, bad food should not be one of them.
