Hello all,
I have applied for Masters in English literature and i got a funded offer with full tuition waiver waiver. I read a comment on nairaland that the VO may not approve the visa because my country is an English speaking country and i am also fluent in English. I am a writer and I also work as a social media manager. Please should i be worried about this. |

Congratulations on your offer! Hope you know that F2 are not allowed to work legally. You can ask your school for an estimated cost to bring a dependent and also, she is still your girlfriend and before she can be regarded as your dependent both of you must have been officially married. You can go first and ask her to come later so that you can use her as a family tie. Anyway, these are what I have read from previous threads. You can wait for the gurus to put you through suleyoung: Hello everyone,
I got an offer for a Ms in Global Affairs with full tuition scholarship plus stipends at the University of Notre Dame.
Can i go along with my spouse? We intend to get married in few months.
Also, how much should we budget to show as proof of funds as a dependent applying for F2 Visa?
Lastly, is it advisable for me to go first then she joins in few months time?
Sorry for my questions, I am a novice in this stuff and really want to avoid mistakes.
God bless you all |

Thank you. I will search for the international admissions department on the school website NightCyrax: First, you have to understand that this is really a hectic time for most schools. This is the time they feel the heat and bug from aspirants and new admits alike. All the same, you can send a follow-up email by the new week. Be also sure to Cc the appropriate people who can help push your request; like your departmental secretary, Associate Dean and your grad coord.
Second, I hope your realize form i-20s are processed by the office of international services and not the grad school per se. I just wanted to be sure you aren't sending your e-mails to the wrong channel.
Third, some schools do not require that you send an e-mail at all. I know of a few schools where you do not submit your financial documents and passport page via e-mail. Rather, there is an online page you upload them to.
I hope you get a response soon. |

Okay. Thank you BigIyanga: Cos people stereotype the south as educationally disadvantaged . MS regarded as a ‘3rd world’ state in the US in education but Naija folks dont care. Lol. US college degree is an equalizer…employers dont look at your school once you are qualified and capable of doing the job. |

Thank you mantics: Get your admission and funding and head to any school in any location. It's when you have many options that you can decide not to go to a particular state. I don't know if you have many options, but if not, lots of Nigerians are in SDstate and even North Dakota. You can get internship anywhere, it's not a must you do it in same state your school is. |

Please what can you say about South Dakota state university and also you mentioned that it is in the middle of nowhere, does it mean that it is not a place to live or the school environment is not good. I am asking because your response will help me to make my decision Donbigi2: No GRE Universities:
Lewis University - 845 dollars /credit
South Dakota State University - cheap but in middle of no where lol. Cold too
San Diego state university
Columbus state university
Western Illinois University - cheap
California state university long Beach - cheap but high cost of living. Also, All CSU universities are cheap, not just long Beach |

I don't think so. If your application is showing ''under review'' that means it has been sent to the department but if your application is showing '' pending app fee'' that means they have not done anything on it. Just put your mind at rest and if you have the means you can still do one more school. Gokoyer0: @Sisib15, I hope I have not shot myself in the leg anyway. I just submitted the application straight away. I even emailed the departmental coordinator last week and she said they are reviewing all my application documents because she had passed them to the reviewing committee. I really hope she has not intentionally done me strong thing. |

Lol, people apply to as many schools as possible, some 12, some 7 and some people apply to only one school at times. It all depends on you. I know someone who started their application in September and they got a lot of app fee waivers thereby he submitted 12applications to different schools and paid for 4 out of the 12. Zihno: I’m sorry about the rejections but How many programs Una apply to? |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 6:05am On Feb 21, 2023 |
Please don't wait for app fee waiver at this time, if you can afford the app fee and you are sure you have a good profile, go ahead pay the app fee and submit Gokoyer0: @Zihno, i have not heard from all the three schools that I applied to also. One of them is still considering me for application fee waiver. I don't know if all this means that something positive will come up eventually. This waiting time can be frustrating. |

Yes, I got one still waiting for two more to come with their funding decision. DAramis: Thanks for the concern, and sorry for yours. But at least you have gotten one with funding right? I think I came across your comment on it. |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 8:14pm On Feb 20, 2023 |
Yes you can. If you have been in conversation with the graduate school coordinator during your application you can ask for feedback YoungWizard007: Eyah ao sorry for that, God will do a better one
Out of curiosity, is it possible one mail the grad school to ask the reason or reasons for the rejection?
At least knowing that, we can always work towards that part |

I have only 4 Schools left that i am waiting for.The waiting period is not easy mehn Dreamsss: Eyaa..ndo..I wish you well. Thanks for the updates.. For me, it's the wait that is killing me..and the fear of the unknown. I don't know how you people manage. I feel I shouldn't do too much, when I can end up getting what I need from one of the many I have already done. But then, I'm just waiting for time to roll, so I can know what the future holds...but if the future flops..my own don be for this year be that... it's stressful. |
