Thank you! There is no direct flight to my school
Somatohadidas:

Certainly. Your initial airport of arrival upon reaching the United States will serve as your point of entry.

This depends on your final destination and flight itinerary.

Can POE be done any where
chibertha:
Advise for families coming with children (age gestation to 13years)

For those traveling soon, ensure you do the following:

Daycare and or after-school services
Contact and reserve daycare and after-school providers, especially those going to big cities. The waitlist is always long.
Possible places to look are
Headstart and early head start (free)
Preschool in your zip code (free)
Community centers (some are free)

For those who have the money, you can look for providers you can pay by yourself if your kids are not US citizens, but if they are, contact the county childcare office. They will pay some or all the fees for you but start early.

Mobility
Plan to get a car so you can easily do school runs for the little ones
Plan according to your pocket; Look for something that has both AC and heater that can take you from point A to B (this is not the time for effizy)

Accommodation
Ensure you get a place that is a walking distance from school.
What I did;- my house is a 6min walk from the school. After dropping my little one at daycare, I park the car at home and walk to school.
I no get money to pay for parking tickets every semester or pay $1/hr in some garage, or pay 50 cents parking on the road.

If you have any questions, please ask here so I can answer to the benefit of others too.

Census is here again!!! Coming up next week Wednesday through Friday.

So been thinking... šŸ¤” how is this census going to be for singles? The last time I experienced it was in the family house with everyone still living under the same roof.

I'm thinking I should go to my elder sisters house and do mine or will I be the only one they'll count in my apartment? Under which family tree kwanu?

What ya think?

If he's earning 150k as a salary which is consistent, it will go a long way in achieving his dreams to study abroad and also there are scholarships that pays for one's ticket and all
onihaxy:

From the beginning of my post, you can see where I asked how?, where and when? Isn't it. That should answer your first paragraph.

For the second paragraph. Please post links to LinkedIn post or university publication of the schools that pays for flight of students.

I myself schooled abroad, US to be precised so I know about funding, GA, on campus jobs, RA and the likes which I am not disputing. The fact I am disputing is university paying for your flight. Please post links and proofs.

The university will also pay for entrance exams like GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL and the likes right?,
The university will also pay for WES or any other credentials evaluation right?
The university will also pay for SEVIS or any other body in the proposed country for him right?

That reminds me too, the university will also pay for his visa application fees, police certificate (if required) and also lodge him in 5 star hotel too shey?.

The university will even do shoppings for him before boarding his free flight too I guess.

The university will even pay his passport fees at Nigeria immigration service as well.

Uncle. I am a realist and do not live in fantasy island. 150k naira savings (about $200 ) WILL NOT DO ANY SHIT in international admission. That's even tier 2 schools application fees alone in the US

I don't think there is any, just state why you were denied on your ds160
Roughfyzay:
Is there any implication in choosing regular instead of previously denied as someone who had been previously denied visa? I was denied in early March but couldnā€™t see any dates until I chose regular before I was able to secure date.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 11:17am On Apr 28, 2023
Choose regular and on your dsI60, you will state that you were denied
Loluuuuuu21:

Yes Iā€™ve been experiencing the same thing since February, I think itā€™s happening to everyone that was denied last year who reapplied this year , because the first timers are seeing the calendar. So I guess we just have to wait maybe thatā€™ll get fixed . Or maybe itā€™s their new way .

Dear Nairalanders, so I was born in Nigeria and have lived all my life in this country till this moment ( I'm 22 now). However, my aunt based in United States has offered to bring me to the country. Processing my documents already.

However I'm scared I may put me or her family in trouble when I get there cos America is a civilized country and I'm used to the crude ways and behaviors here which is already part of me and will likely replicate them in America which will surely put me in trouble with the law.

Behaviors like urination on the streets, throwing garbage on the road and many uncivilized behaviors too numerous to mention. So please how do I Behave myself over there. Thanks for reading.

That's why he said you should read and moreover, if you had taken your time to read the previous pages, you will see where it was started that abuja embassy is fully in operation
photoberi:
@Biglyanga, thanks for your input but I am unsure what you are talking about? Who told me what?

The U.S embassy in Abuja restricted operations late last year due to security issues in Abuja, this was even posted on the U.S Abuja embassy website. I read it myself, no one told me this. Couldn't get any appointment for December last year.

I have checked their website and I didn't see any info about resumption of full operations and that's why I asked if anyone knows if the U.S embassy in Abuja is now fully operational and taking F1 appointments now.

Pls let me know if I am missing anything thanks.

Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Sisib15: 6:22pm On Apr 21, 2023
Yesterday was somehow at the Lagos Embassy. They said most of the people she gave white papers were majorly those going for PhD. You can try Abuja. Don't give up yet
folamorgan:

If you were there yesterday you would understand the whole scenario. I'm an "expressive" individual. I have mastered the art very well I won't lie to you.
Firstly, this woman was not ready to listen, I was actually forcing myself to spew out the few I could. She was cutting everything. Immediately she asked a question and you are about to answer her, she would cut it instantly. The few things you saw that came out of my mouth, I spoke them forcefully. She wasn't listening to people, she was just issuing out the blue paper after few questions without expecting replies.
Firstly, she didn't ask a question related to how the course would help my career or company but I still wanted to chip it in when I was telling her about my funding, what I do and even why I picked the school yet she did not allow me to talk on it. She stopped me abruptly
Secondly, I already prepared financial statement and I cannot give her if she didn't ask for it, I can only defend it with my mouth and I think I did justice to an extent to that by mouth, by telling her how much I pay myself from each of the companies monthly and the total annual income. It is against their rules to bring out documents if they don't asl for it, that can disqualify one.
Lastly, on the home ties, we didn't get there in the first place. I wanted to use the opportunity of why I chose the school to explain home ties but she didn't allow me.
And I want to tell you that the few words I wad able to speak out, I managed to maneuvered her questions towards them, she didn't bother to ask or even care to listen. She was quick to say, ok or I got it. For example, check the questions you will discovered that when she asked that was that the only school I chose, that was when I started using the opportunity to let her know the reason I chose the school among the three. She didn't ask to that extent but since I have discovered her pattern I wanted to see if I could maneuvered myself to speak out my unique story. But the truth is you can only convince someone that cares to listen to you. At least, she gave more than 7 people before me blue paper, including a man that has travelled to different countries like France, Germany, UK, etc. The man was articulated enough and he has a strong home ties with evidence but what finally came out of the woman mouth was "sorry, you are not qualified for this visa".
And nobody should tell me that I didn't pray o, I prayed, I quoted the bible, I did everything necessary and I also prepared by reading more than one hundred transcripts and listening to Argo, an online organisation founded by over 20 former US visa officers, where they educate people on how to answer visa questions. And I practiced all these in mocks with people and alone.
I believe probably, that's just God's will. Maybe He has another plan for me

Shop at discount stores, warehouse clubs and outlet stores

I could probably write a whole thread on getting stuff at highly discounted prices in stores. Coming from Nigeria where I learned to haggle in open markets, the mindset of getting a good deal stuck with me. The great thing about America is that even though you generally don't haggle, you can get amazing discounts if you only know how and when to buy. I used to think that Walmart was one of the cheapest places to buy groceries, clothes etcetera, boy was I mistaken!! Here are some tips I learned

1. One of the cheapest stores for groceries in the USA is Aldi not Walmart. If you have an Aldi near where you live, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. You will be amazed at their prices.

2. If you have a family you will get massive savings by joining a warehouse club. A warehouse club is basically a store that sell bulk items cheaper than regular stores. I tend to favor Costco over Sams Club because they have a much better selection of products. Not only is food cheaper, but electronics, gas(fuel), drugs and alcohol is also cheaper at warehouse clubs.

3. Outlet stores are stores that sell things like electronics, furniture, designer clothing, furniture etc at discounted prices. If oyu are looking to buy any of these things, you might want to check an outlet store first

Good morning lovely people. I just came across this thread. I was denied a visa twice even with full funding and it broke my heart that I couldn't apply for admission this fall. I know studies are the easiest route as they told us and that's why I wanted to ply that route that was why I sought a scholarship as there's no way I could afford education outside.
