tpia:
The thing is- friendship doesnt need to be labelled. Only a gay person would think otherwise, because for them, friendship almost always tends to have a sexual connotation.  Its the sad truth.

Romance tends to involve sex. Or an anticipated sexual fantasy/strong emotional non-platonic attachment. Thats why I think the word Bromance must have been invented by a gay person who doesnt understand the idea of non-sexual male communication.

Eros as opposed to platonic relationship, is whats being muddled here.
True friendship shouldn't be labelled and this isn't about that. It is about what you do, how you conduct yourself in the confines of the friendship.

Pray tell. . .
What kind of friendship do you have, if you can't hangout alone together?
What kind of friendship is it, if you have to watch your Ps and Qs?
What kind of friendship is it where you can't express yourself?

I believe if guys are open with their feeling with other guys. . . they won't have a problem showing their tender side with women because if you really think about it, the reason men aren't expressive is for fear that other guys will mock them or see them as wussies. BROMANCE does not only help man-man relationship, it also the woman-man relationship.

Any woman out there who is tired of her man never showing his emotions will join me in saying YES TO PROPOSITION BROMANCE FOR NAIJA GUYS!!  grin

Seriously, though a gau didn't come up with the word. Men who were tired of walking on egg shells around their friends did. They said "Eff this, we're guys, we love each other and we are not GAY"

the thing is men are different from women, and besides, anyone who knows something about the gay lifestyle, is aware that there are many body postures and signals they use to communicate with each other. The average person may be ignorant of such, but the gays understand themselves. Especially abroad. Maybe not so much in Nigeria ( yet), but definitely overseas.

If ordinary toe tapping in a public toilet is a signal to other gays, how much more hand holding and the like. In the US and the western world, if you see two guys holding hands and acting all lovey dovey, your refusal to acknowledge their gayness, only shows you as blinding yourself to reality.

Anyone whose husband makes a habit of holding hands with other men (especially abroad), had better watch that husband before he springs a surprise announcement that he's leaving her for another man. Or before she catches him having sex with his gay partner.

This is how some women can be married to a guy for so  many years without realising he's on the downlow. Because they may be ignoring the telltale signs. After the secret is exposed, then some women realise it may have been obvious all along.

A guy who makes a habit of brushing against some other guy/s at a party or nightclub, is also a warning sign.
I agree! That's why I think it's time to take back GUY LOVE from the Gay side. Why should guys miss out on having deep meaningful friendships just because some people might thin it is Gay and what happened to not living your life based on what others think?

Oh yeah, I think time to embrace BROMANCE.

Oh come on Guys! Clear your minds of all the corrupted beliefs about two guys sharing a deep friendship and see what what Bromance is really all. Being in a BROMANCE indicates a level of trust hitherto only witnessed in female friendships. Aren't you tired of living life on egg shells??!!

Bromantics are not Gay!!

What do you mean by what is wrong with guys holding hands. If you see your husband holding hands with another man, don't say anything about it, just encourage him to continue, very soon that hand he his holding will turn to something else and i hope you won't say we didnt tell you.
Its okay for girls to hold hands but guys, its totally unacceptable.
Oh my God! Are you serious with this post? A man holding another man's had us wrong??!!! Please tell me you are joking! Even our great great grand parents who didn't go to school are not this ignorant. . . no offense. What is WRONG is how our minds have been so CORRUPTED, we start reading vulgar meanings into innocent gestures.

Do you have brothers? Did they have friends growing up? I'm sure at one point or the other, they held hands. . . and except you can show us evidence that your brothers and their friends are now gay, then your theory does not hold water!!!

What?! Are you being sarcastic again cause he clearly said he was "always in love with [his] fellow guy".
LMAO! Oh my Goodness, I can't stop laughing. This is not sarcasm. . . not this time. I know he said IN LOVE but I don't think it's gay love but BROMANCE!!

It's sad how men are shortchanged when it comes to friendship. Women can openly hold hand, sit on each others laps, fondly touch each other and no one makes a huge deal but guys have to be careful. It's so not right and it's high time we set things straight!

Let's discuss Bromance. . .
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-165719.0.html
RomanceAre You Man Enough For Bromance? by Sisikill(op): 2:44pm On Aug 30, 2008
What is Bromance?

Unlike MAN CRUSH which is a one-sided feeling one guy for another, BROMANCE is described as. . .
1) The intense love shared between heterosexual males.
2) A close relationship between two bros to such a point where they start to seem like a couple.
3) This bond is normally only shared between two males that have a deeper understanding of each other, in a way no woman could ever realize.
4) Guys in Bromance don’t have a problem saying “I love you” to each other because they know the words can be said in a totally non-sexual way.
5) Guys in Bromance don’t have a problem going on man dates.

What is Man date?

1) It is two guys meeting for the kind of outing a straight man might reasonably arrange with a woman.
2) Dining together across a table without the aid of a television is a man date
3) Taking a walk in the park together is a man date;
4) Attending an ordinary move (i.e nothing overtly manly or chick flick) is a man date.

What is NOT Man date

1) Eating at a bar is not man date
2) Going for a jog is not man date
3) Going to see your favorite team play is not man date.

Guys, are you man enough for BROMANCE?
Ladies how would you feel about a guy BROMANCE?

Again Bromantics are NOT GAY.
RomanceRe: Can A Guy Admire His Fellow Guys by Sisikill: 11:50pm On Aug 29, 2008
OP here, I got the lyrics for you and made the neccessary adjustment to fit your need. My comments are in the upper Subscript.

GUY LOVE
Let's face the facts about me and you, A love unspecified.
Though I'm proud to call you "Chocolate Bear,"
The crowd will always talk and stare.

I feel exactly those feelings, too
And that's why I keep them inside.
'Cause this bear can't bear the world's disdain,
And sometimes it's easier to hide,

Than explain our Guy love,
That's all it is, Guy love,
He's mine, I'm his,
There's nothing gay about it in our eyes.

You ask me 'bout this thing we share,
And he tenderly replies,
It's guy love Between two guys.

We're closer than the average man and wife,
That's why our matching bracelets say [Your name and your guy friend's name]
You know I'll stick by for the rest of my life.

You're the only man who's ever been inside of me.
Whoa, I just took out his apendix (or however else he's been inside of you wink )
There's no need to clarify,
Oh no?

Just let it grow more and more each day.
It's like I married my best friend,
But in a totally manly way.

Let's go! It's guy love, Don't compromise,
The *feeling* of some other guy,
Holding up your heart, Into the sky.

I'll be there to care through all the lows.
I'll be there to share the highs.

It's guy love, Between two guys.

And when I say, "I love you [insert friend's name here],"
It's not what it impies.

It's guy love Between Two Guys!!!!
Good Luck my brave Naija brother who is not afraid the express his love for another guy. God Bless you!  kiss
RomanceRe: Can A Guy Admire His Fellow Guys by Sisikill: 11:29pm On Aug 29, 2008
LOL! I think there is a semantics problem here. I don't think the poster is saying he is in love with a guy, just that he likes them very well. Remember when you were young and your mind was still innocent, how you felt about your friend? I believe that's what OP mean.

@ Topic
Sadly, from the responses. . . it's obvious society does not allow guys will be free with their emotions for other guys, except guys who are really secure in their manhood like my brothers and their friends. smiley

GUYS TAKE THE SHACKLES OFF YOUR FEET AND DECLARE YOUR GUY LOVE! You'll feel better, trust me grin

TV/MoviesRe: Best Movie Quotes by Sisikill: 9:14pm On Aug 29, 2008
Hee! I didn't know we could post long ones. My all time favorite can't call it a quote because of the lenght, is from JFK

"The Warren Commission thought they had an open-and-shut case. Three bullets, one assassin. But two unpredictable things happened that day that made it virtually impossible. One, the eight-millimeter home movie taken by Abraham Zapruder while standing by the grassy knoll. Two, the third wounded man, James Tague, who was knicked by a fragment, standing near the triple underpass. The time frame, five point six seconds, determined by the Zapruder film, left no possibility of a fourth shot. So the shot or fragment that left a superficial wound on Tague's cheek had to come from the three shots fired from the sixth floor depository. That leaves just two bullets. And we know one of them was the fatal head shot that killed Kennedy. So now a single bullet remains. A single bullet now has to account for the remaining seven wounds in Kennedy and Connelly. But rather than admit to a conspiracy or investigate further, the Warren Commission chose to endorse the theory put forth by an ambitious junior counselor, Arlen Spector, one of the grossest lies ever forced on the American people. We've come to know it as the "Magic Bullet Theory." This single-bullet explanation is the foundation of the Warren Commission's claim of a lone assassin. Once you conclude the magic bullet could not create all seven of those wounds, you'd have to conclude that there was a fourth shot and a second rifle. And if there was a second rifleman, then by definition, there had to be a conspiracy." - Jim Garrison.

Law enforcement officials have designated the trend as the most serious issue affecting Igbo families in America, informing that the fights erupt because of stress brought about by unrealistic expectation of economic gains and pressures by relatives back in Nigeria.
Father Lord in heaven, thank you for real experts who actually know what they are saying.

How someone can even attribute these senseless murders to something as benign as Nurses claiming to make more money and not being educated, is completely beyond me. What these men went through is called a catathymic crisis or Catathymia and the common link between them is not their nurse wives but that they all come from an extremely patriarchal society.

Thanks for the article.

well Amos called his other three brothers and sister (sister and brother in Nigeria, brother in London and brother in Italy) and they all called me.  They told me he would be home w/in the hour and that when he arrives i should give him my back until he begs for forgiveness.

They said that they expressed their concern and disapproval at the way he has been behaving to me and that if i did not allow their brother to return that he would be the only one to blame.  his sister also told me that she would have never taken him food to eat while he was staying at the apartment, she would have let him continue to find his food in the street.  But doing so showed that i really was sorry for lying and that i loved my husband enough to continue to provide for him even when he was misbehaving.  She also told me should he act up again i must contact them to set the matter str8.  i told her that i wanted to work this out between us with Amos help but that he was not listening to Amos.

They really do care about me and sure enough my husband was home w/in the hour.

My son's party was yesterday and he showed up an hour ahead of time to beg me for forgiveness that he acted like a child and to please accept his apology and a small gift from him to me.

I have been telling him i don't like driving the truck that he brought and just want a car and told him that i fell in love with the Jetta.  Last night I got my wish, a brand new Jetta fresh off the lot in my favorite color blue.

We talked and talked and talked and talked.  We aired alot last night and ironed out so many other things that were boiling below from both of us.

My husband has returned home and i am happy to have him there.

OpeLovely:
This is part of my writing skills. Enjoy.

Brian couldn't imagine life without her. The thought of not seeing her for a year was too much pain for him to bear. He remembered her soft chuckle, her rose scented skin, her dimples that could send a man's heart aflutter, her way of arguing when she was upset, all these made him yearn for her more.

Pulling himself from the window while the rain poured in sheets, he dragged himself to the kitchen to cook up supper. This was where they shared their first date. They were in high school back in the day and had no money for a decent date before he suggested making a dish for her. Because he couldn't cookj, he rushed to his grandma's house three streets away to beg her for her recipes. Three hours later, he whipped up a sphagetti combo with beef sauce. Priding himself with his talents, she arrived and they had had lunch until they dug in. The food was terrible. He was almost red with embarassment when she nearly choked.

Smiling to himself as he thought of those memories, he whipped up a frying pan. Afterall, three years later, he was now an expert in cuisine. Despite the hunger in his stomach, it couldn't erase the loneliness he felt nor the anguish he had when Tamia broke the news that she had to travel to Jamaica for a humanitarian program. Seeing his mood, she had assured him of e-mailing him constantly, calling as well as visiting every six weeks.

A knock on the door broke his thoughts. It was raining heavily and the thunderstorm was bad. Opening the door, he couldn't believe his eyes, it was Tamia. Soaked from head to toe.
'What are you doing here?' he asked, weakly as if he couldn't believe his eyes.
Sighing she replied' I couldn't go ahead with the trip, i got to the airport and i, couldnt imagine a night without you. I knew leaving would be the greatest mistake i would do in my life. I love you Brian and you are more important to me than the program'

Grabbing her, he hugged her under the rain, the lightning cracking in the distance. He gazed lovingly into her eyes for a second and kissed her cherry flavoured lips. The kiss was passionate and more elctrifying than the thunder that surfaced in the environment. Their wet bodies merged together as they held onto themselves, kissing and cuddling. Breaking away from the sweet embrace while holding her damp, cold and fragile hands, he asked.
'Will you marry me?'
Awwwww! Now this is so sweet! Makes my heart go gisgis and that's why I know it's not real! Oh Opelovely, what are you doing to us? Teasing us so. . . this is unfair, it's like dangling freshly buttered roasted turkey legs in from of a hungry man.  cry

How do you expect a man who does not see anything wrong with a guy leaving his wife and her kids without transportation and money for 3 days, to see the hypocrisy in insulting a woman while telling her not to insult a man. Not because the man being insulted does not deserve it but because he is MAN. My God! I feel sorry for some people's wife.  sad

I agree. . . insulting a man is WRONG. However, it has already been established brotherman is not a man. I don't know what he is, I mean I used think he was a child but his behavior is way to childish for a child. I thought, okay maybe a baby, I'll call him a baby but I this afternoon, I saw my cousin's baby and I felt bad for insulting cute innocents babies. So whatever he is, Mr. Ungrateful does not deserve any respect.
