That has happpened to me a few times. .I used to think that I could withstand my own stuff, no matter how bad it is. .but some had had me thinking "haba ol'boy, wetin u chop" to myself. .

i had those ones too. especially when i eat beans or any protein rich foods, the smell is indescribable. there are times sef, when the smell will be too much for me who messed, that i will have shift/move from the place and sometimes go to where my friends are so they will smell it too

i dont think they are trying to make up for anything. it has more to do with our type of society.

nigeria is a collective society and that makes it hard for so parents to let go compare to the more individualistic society like the ones you mentioned, which starts from early on and still those characteristics in their children.

Common sense says that you should pay more attention to your children, but not "to the detriment" of your wife.

your friend obviously and seriously needs help, whether she admits it to you or not. she needs your intervention if not you will be going to her funeral. women in abusive relationship, hardly admits it, talk less of seeking help. and she is already displaying the classical serious abuse signs.

chei memories! i certainly did the nyash stiffing in school. "who messed here?" everyone will start "not me oo, smell me, smell me not me oo" and oh boy, did i smell them! i was the general nyash inspector. sometimes sef, if i smell them and i feel like their big uniform is concealing it, i will hold their uniform tight (like how those wicked teachers use to hold your cloth tight when flogging you, so that the pain will enter inside) and smell them. if i smell you, i will tell the whole class it is  not you, but if its you eh eh god help you the embarrassment "its you! you messed! and if they deny it, another nyash inspector will confirm it

the silent ones, did it too. i mean there places that you will be that you cant let it out and it wouldnt allow you to rest. sometimes when i do, i will bone so tay. . .  and people will be wondering what that smell is, i will even bone more. and if someone ask me do you hear that smell? i will be like "what smell? me i no hear anything oo" sometimes my laugh will just expose me

the worst one my friends and i did in school is when you mess and catch it with your hands, then cover your hand, call one of your friends or go to them, and just release it on the nose and ran as fast as you can!

I really dont know what to say about this. . . . You can tell a child to  secure that confidence and not bother with their appearance, no matter what people say. But when its bordering on  health issues like an obese child, you HAVE to tell him or her to spend more time outside. But with encouragement and less brutality.  
My 9 years old sister was getting too big for her height and age, my mom thought it was nothing, that she'd grow out of it. Thatz not right because this IS their time to grow out of it,  metabolism slows down as you age. I  took her to the mall and she could barely fit into the junior size, told her to cut it loose if she wants to wear nice clothes. At that time, I didnt know how brutal I was, she lost self-esteem, etc. I got to her and found out how to talk to her in a calmer tone about her weight. . . . now my baby sis is the regular size for her age and stature, her self-esteem is up et all.

There are circumstances when you have to tell kids about the way they look and when to tell them to not bother.  

Socially accepted, Socially loved, socially this and socially that. Yes, it is an issue with kids in their teen. . . . I'll come back with more of my thoughts about this later

i want us to discuss the issue of self esteem and self worth among young girls. this issue is very dear to me because i see everyday the detrimental effects of the "lost of self" in young girls. many Young girls today have place their worth/esteem on their "physical appearance". "if only i could look like this, i wish i had her body/face"etc we have been socialized by the media/society, friends/peers etc to appear/look a certain way in order to be socially accepted, loved, wanted, have a sense of belonging and what have you. we no longer value diverse beauty, everyone wants to conform to the "set standard"of "beauty"


i want us to discuss specific ways we can help our girls realize and regain their self worth/esteem in a society where everyone is always on a quest to attain the unattainable.
