cap28: whats the difference between globalization and imperialism? absolutely nothing
globalisation is simply a euphemism for world wide expansion, domination and control which is precisely what imperialism is. the americans prefer to use the word "globalisation" as it sounds less threatening than imperialism but the bottom line is that the objective of both words are the same - world wide domination and control of economic and political forces. sjeezy8: America might be considered more pro-globalization than an imperialistic country. Within globalization Nigeria can benefit as the Chinese did. it all depends on on how a person see it. Whether you want to call it imperialism or globalization developing countries can use it to their advatage. As of right now thats what Nigeria needs while looking out for the interest of Nigerians first. |

bidemi12: As far as i am concerned i do not care how corrupt other countries are but that my country is. The level of corruption in America as far as i am concerned is x2 of Nigeria's. The only difference is they do it with style and finese and in some cases legalise it while ours is brazen, crude and downright archaiec. For instance lets say you want to buy a car and you visit a car dealership the system is such that it is so easy to get the car as little as 4k for a valued car of 30k. The twist is miss one payment and the penalties are structured in a way to make you a slave to that dealer forever. The whole system is such that things are given to you in way thay is so easy but at the end you will be a slave for life. They are so good with mathmatics and law that once you are trapped you will have no legal recourse except to file for bankruptcy and trust me that is the last thing you want to do. In Nigeria when a senator collects money we call it bribery but for here na lobbying. Their own type of online fraud is how to set up your own online home business . You will be conned into parting with hard earned dollars and when you have lost your money the explanation is you did not follow the business module well enough for it to succeed. The marketing and the manner you are conned is so suave that you will never believe it is a con. They even advertise on tv. and get this; the tv station will advise you to be careful of the advert that they are about to show, that they will not be held accountable if you lose money. The reason we are branded is that we are too crude. In all the countries i have gone i have not seen where a policeman will stand in the middle of the road to collect bribe in broad daylight. SECONDED they do what they like but its more advanced than naija own Naija needs to step their game up |

You are complete moronic thomas. I pity the person that paid your school fees. With facts reeled out for you by different persons, yet you are still doubting. Why can't you google and read facts for yourself for goodness sake? Is this what laziness have left of you? Afraid of what the future will become for your silly life under cocoa? cap28: yes but the problem is that america is an imperial power - it beleives in expansion and domination of weaker nations - that has always been its mode of operation and it never deviates from it - with the exception of vietnam that suffered an invasion without subsequent occupation the phillipines and iraq all ended up being permanently occupied by america.
not that i care what happens to Yar adua but doesnt he understand the implications for him if america refuses to withdraw their military operatives.
my feeling is that america are using the niger delta situation as an excuse to occupy the region, think about it, this is the excuse that they are using for their current occupation of iraq - why arent they pulling out troops from that region? because supposedly they are maintaining peace within the region and if they leave the country will fall into a state of chaos - this is total nonsense because iraq is in total chaos because they are there, they did the same thing in vietnam - their excuse then was "we're trying to free them from an oppressive communist threat" - all lies. with the niger delta situation they have a legitimate excuse - peacekeeping- but theyve been dying to locate military bases in nigeria for the simple reason of securing the oil wells since last year. America might be considered more pro-globalization than an imperialistic country. Within globalization Nigeria can benefit as the Chinese did. it all depends on on how a person see it. |

becomrich,: sjeezy8 , you are wrong. In the USA , it is the state that least out the land to oil company, not the federal govt. and they get paid what is call "oil leases "
It is each state in the USA that own the land and oil. The house of rep are allow to determine which state are to be drilled.
And there is what they call state waters which is part of the state. And the state own the right to it. They also have federal water Beaf: ^ The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (AOGCC) is a quasi-judicial agency in the U.S. state of Alaska, within Alaska's Department of Administration.[1] It was originally established in 1955, was subsequently abolished, but was eventually reestablished. NIGERIANS WILL FURTHER BE GREEDY
the problem has nothing to with resource control. if Every state in America had its own resource control it wouldnt exist as a country. The constitution needs many changes to be made for Nigeria to be more even/ level out the playing field for ALL NIGERIANS. right now it favors the rich and is not exclusive to ANY DAMN REGION EXCEPT THE CAPITAL.
until Everyone realises it isn't about region, State earnings or any damn resource control, Nigerian leaders from all states will continue to milk the system dry. |

poverty line based on actually money doesn't mean shit to Nigerians
many dont have a dime to spend but simply live off of what they grow.
these findings are based on what the WEST consider poverty amongst themselves.
To a Nigerian farmer who lives off of what he grows he is not in poverty
so yea its possible. |

If everyone where to think about standing up against it like you it would turn into somalia.
WORSE THEN NOW
the only thing is to start convincing our leaders to be as corrupt as they want, BUT DO IT FOR THE INTEREST OF NIGERIANS PUT NIGERIA BEFORE THEMSELVES. Like American leaders do, they are corrupt as hell but they always look for the future of Americans even if its killing one of their own or invading/bombing another country.
Nigerians are plain selfish greedy and money hungry and dont care about the countries future. |
