princekevo: Thank you very much you jst took the word out my mouth. i should have told him that with all the info over the internet i still have educated fellows tell me everyday how Nigeria is the most corrupt Nation on earth. Does it mean these guys cant do the search or google it out before making such conclusion? I simply dont know why educated people jump to such conclusion about Nigeria being the most corrupt country in the world. The research people do on the internet is just as bias as the what common people view Nigerian corruption as. @post I see Nigerias main problem is Nigerians and how they are, esp when it comes to MONEY. They can't get money out of their brains. WHY MONEY MONEY MONEY NO ONE TALKS ABOUT BASIC NEEDS FOR THE MASSES. The question was is Nigeria the MOST CORRUPT country on Earth? Every single poster gave their reason for Nigeria being the most corrupt country based on looting and money extortion in Nigeria. But in terms of corruption : All forms of government are susceptible to political corruption. Forms of corruption vary, but include bribery, extortion, cronyism, nepotism, patronage, graft, and embezzlement. When you look at America they indulge in all of these, the only thing is they do not FREQUENTLY have open deals of bribery like stupid Nigerians do. In america they believe that corruption is good when used in the interest of their nation. Ex. George bush using the invasion of Iraq/sept 11, for a second presidentional term and to also evade Americans from its suspicious circumstances. He entered by winning his BROTHERS STATE FLORIDA, he entered iraq where his father tried to get oil during his own term, and on sept 11 It is widely belived he and those around him were behind it. Nigerias ONLY PROBLEM IS CORRUPTION IN TERMS OF MONEY AND LOOTING. Corruption in America done pass Naija BY FAR. They brain wash the masses through the media "US propaganda and pyswar" for the mass public WHICH IS AS CORRUPTED AS IT CAN GET. Nigerias problem is simple the leaders dont care about the interest of Nigeria like Americas does. HILLARY SAID IT AMERICA IS CORRUPT but she meant only for the interest of AMERICANS. I dont know if anyone is familiar with "kill one to save the masses" THATS WHAT AMERICA IS ABOUT. The invasion of iraq was about a future threat and OIL FOR 300 MILLION+ AMERICANS, but at the cost of a few thousand america soldiers lives.
Nigerians leaders just care about themselves and not the masses thats where our problem lies |

Ifygurl: Did you really ask that question? You know you could have just researched it before asking. Anyway, No it's not. Nigeria used to be the most during Abacha reign. Now it's not. Somalia is. Nigeria is 121 out of the 180 nations surveyed. Nigeria, Vietnam, Togo, Nepal and Sao Tome are in the same line of corruption. It's still high though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_Perceptions_Index http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2008 Just research it the next time. I don't even think some of you people research stuff before talking. That video was when Nigeria was the most corrupted (which was around 1991-1998) Before you start blasting others on research you use your own brain. One can't rank corruption precisley which is why the CPI is often criticized. People on here used what they see, same as those who created the CPI so of course opinions would vary. Not to metion that list is manipulated to the likes of westernized non socialist countries. So before you post this trash, use your head. Those that were socialist or one party governments were ranked more corrupt. Those same countries are still ahead of countries named the least, in terms of what was used to measure "corruption". its common sense |

Beaf: Yes my dear. Real gunpoint.
. . .Such abberations can pile up to test loyalty. It shows how little the nation values each citizen. It is yet another example of why we need a National Conference; there is delineation of responsibilities of citizen to the state or the state to the citizen. "Nigerianness" has no definition, anything goes; citizens being at gunpoint every other day is normal.
Disfunctional. ok soo in other words i'll determine it as being loyal to ones self since the nations people dont value eachother. if So, then theres no need to argue about ethnicity over Nigerian and vice versa the topic shouldn't matter to anyone who has posted - you and maybe i can at least agree somewhat with Crude Oil: I am not loyal to any. Because those who have held me at gun point/ask for bribe are from my own ethnicity and im sure the same goes for other Nigerians. |

No its not, but the amount of money that SHOULD be used for schools, hospital roads, BASIC necessities, is being siphoned out in a callous inhumane manner.
I've been told by many of my Professors from Asian countries that Nigeria SHOULD be a leading government and WILL be in the future, if our trend of looting decreases and that Nigerians should thank their stars they are not like India. A country who has all the problems of Nigeria times a billion. |

bilymuse: Ojukwu betray me - Okorie
Sunday, 13 September 2009 00:00 Basking in the euphoria of his recent restoration as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) after a five-year legal tussle, Chief Chekwas Okorie, in this interview conducted before the convention of the party recently, he told EMMA-ENYINNAYA APPOLOS that rebuilding APGA is the only challenge before him now. Excerpts:
What is your regret in this struggle?
No regret at all. I said this because, no doubt, I felt a terrible sense of betrayal by Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, whom I served like a slave, when nobody compelled me to do so, because I believed him to be the symbol of the Igbo struggle, and I was warned. I used APGA platform to rehabilitate Ojukwu politically. Everybody is a witness to this rehabilitation, but this man, without any warning, without telling me where I erred, aligned with his kinsmen against me and he led the struggle for APGA destruction. But why I will not regret getting him involved is that he did me a great favour which he did not intend to do. He made me get closer to my God. And ever since I got closer to my God, my closeness to God has been improving on daily basis, so I can’t regret a struggle that gave me great joy at the end of the day of being a happy child of God and the experience I have acquired in the last five years of this struggle. I have not acquired them before. I have understood human beings for who they are. I will not be careless to trust people anymore, but that is not good enough, and I am trying to change that opinion.
What gives you joy when you remember the struggle?
The struggle brought me closer to God. That is my greatest joy. And God has shown me His hand and with that hand, I have defeated more than a Goliath; I have defeated an entire army of brigands and rebels. Now I can identify a traitor from a distance; I can perceive the pungent ardor of a deceiver and my sensibilities are sharpened, and my closeness to God is responsible. I can now perceive things before they happen, and those around me do not take my views lightly because they know that what view I express always tend to happen like that and some times they wonder and ask if I am a prophet and I say to them: ‘no, I am not a prophet but you can achieve what you want to achieve when discipline your body and mind for Christ and get closer to God.’
http://www.compassnews.net/news/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28101:ojukwu-betrayed-me-okorie&catid=36:poilitics&Itemid=58 LOL so thats the platform people should be campaigning on? good maybe now people will actually get closer to god and stop this BS called my ethnicity before common humanity . Nigeria to start with |

check out iyabo obasanjo, bukola saraki . in the end , they are certainly not far from the tree.
there is very little i expect from the children of politicians and govt officilas who have grown up in a life of privilege with a sense of entitlement
what do they see their parents doing, harassing civilians in motorcades, engaging in graft, swearing oaths in shrines - and living the good life.
i belive we have some of em - here already - bigb1, crea8tivity etal True but the many are also raised abroad and see the rotten behavior exhibited by their parents as an embarrassment and know its wrong. |

Read these things up. sjeezy8: they didn't discriminate between tribes when it CAME TO THEIR OWN INTEREST. Meaning when it came down to Nigeria being a colony they had no favorite. ezeagu: Umm, yes they did. The ethnic groups who they saw as disobedient to 'their masters' were severly punished, they've been studying us since the slave trade. I can show a collection of six volumes of just one work on the anthropology of the Igbo made in the colonial era. they didn't discriminate between tribes when it CAME TO THEIR OWN INTEREST. Meaning when it came down to Nigeria being a colony they had no favorite. It was who ever benefited them the most at that particular time. Tsiya: I havnt read the history enough. . . before independence, the Northern delegates didn't want to be part of the new country. The British after cn what happened in indo-pakistan independence, decide to foster the idea of national unity on us (I I tried to read their documents on the National archive, but still cannot find the motive behind such move)
The Nigeria was designed to be a conduit of resources to Britain. and its the same thing the Elites are doing to common folks in Nigeria |
Politics › Re: Are You Loyal To Nigeria Or Your Ethnicity? by sjeezy8: 5:27am On Sep 13, 2009 |
Beaf: ^Don't be naive. Britain only established colonies after powerful anti-slavery movements began rocking the boat.
They cam up with a clever plan. Instead exporting slaves and risking political mutiny at home, move slavery to Africa instead. It was not done for your benefit; nobody loves strangers that much (especially strangers of a different colour). They came to plonder, rape and extort, nothing less.
FREE YOUR MIND. my point exactly they didn't discriminate between ethnic groups in Nigeria that same tactic they used for Nigerians is what the Elite are using now. |
Politics › Re: Are You Loyal To Nigeria Or Your Ethnicity? by sjeezy8: 5:15am On Sep 13, 2009 |
Nigeria was designed to succeed
it was the leaders who made it the way it is
Before independence everyone was happy cause the british didn't discriminate between tribes they didn't give a shit about anyone.
It was our founding fathers and existing politicians that put/ use ethnic hate in the minds of COMMON folk while the elite have been enjoying ever since independence.
lets tell the truth i have never met any rich Nigerian that actually wants Nigeria to change to equal the playing field for common folks. |
