Highly unprofessional and irresponsible of Cristiano. His Ego is right there on top of his nose and blocking his view thats why he can't see things clearly. He should be grateful to EtH for even keeping him in reckoning, especially when every club that could afford him refused to sign him. He unknowingly just gave Piers Morgan needless rep after his recent blunders (and desperate attempt at recovery) with Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson and so on. To say no progress since Sir Alex is wrong. All that United have been through since Sir Alex is very much progress. Let's see how much "progress" Cristiano manages during the world cup and after. Talk about respect, he is lucky its not Sir Alex he is dealing with. The Boss let go of Beckham, Keane, Stam etc, you name them. According to SAF in his biography, the moment a player starts to feel bigger than the club, you must let the player out. I hope Man U and their board will have the courage to do the needful and show him the door. Without CR7, the team are playing well...going through the dogged rough roads to defend their names on the red jersey and earn their worth in weekly pay. Just watch the passion during and after the Fulham and West Ham games. When he plays, he contributes nothing and just sits up there waiting for passes to make tap ins. Finally, though a United fan, I cannot deny his records, legendary status and what he achieved for Man U. They however pale in comparison to the real and one true G.O.A.T. of football...Leo Messi. This his recent debacle has added another tally stroke in favour of Messi in the gradually concluding argument of who the better player is (will soon be "was" as they are nearing retirement). Shay EA sports has simulated this years world cup to be lifted by the Albeceleste. I hope for Cristiano's sake, that outcome doesn't materialise (despite the Ballon D'or difference between him and Messi)...otherwise....if it does...he should politely end his career on his terms and go into Hollywood and make movies or go to France or Italy and become a fashion model. |
OP, where is the statistic (link/website?) supporting your assertion that most of the Nigerians in Canada cannot save $30 per day? You say 90 -95%. Did you get this information from the government of Canada or government of America? Without being baised and in trying to maintain this discussion neutrally, others have shared their own opinions alluding to the fact that it is indeed possible to save even more than $30 a day in Canada and in US and even beyond. People have highlighted the same hustle spirit that is present in Nigerians in Nigeria and Nigerians abroad as being responsible for their ability to save this much and more. Why are you choosing to ignore that but hell bent on driving your point across board. Thats not how to have a healthy conversation (please note, I haven't insulted you, so please bear that in mind, if and when you respond) Above all this, the metrics from the UN,TI, UNICEF etc. on the standard of living is clear for referencing. GDP, access to healthcare, ease of doing business, standard of living, poverty index, corruption perception indices and so on. Just look at the positions of Nigeria relative to America and Canada. It is not the akara seller at the junction or the tipper driver's daily savings that shoulf be used to judge. Finally, smart Nigerians that we are, dey no dey tell us for obodo sey we go need to add one or two more jobs to augment things, if the bird wey we get for hand never worth one for bush. If the first job can't give the room to make such savings (no reliable data to even support but lets just say for OPs sake), then you find that these so called people (the 90-95% of Nigerians) may then work an additional job or two to make those savings. |
LordIsaac:As funny as this is, it is the truth! You just need to look at the demographics of the world today vis-a-vis how each of his descedants spread out to occupy the world from that time. |
Sorry OP, but I disagree. I know this is your thread and before you retort or counter let me just share a thought. Firstly, this narrative being pushed needs to be checked. Not all women are as debased as you make them. I fear for the unwise and gullible who read and swallow this narrative hook, line and sinker. They will likely go out and add more decadence to the already morally corrupt society we have out there. Both male and female alike. A reason why we have society as we have it today is because of the absence of proper upbringing and the propagation (by social media) of the lifestyles of these improperly brought up individuals into the airspace! Just look for example at the fractured lives of the actors in "keeping up with the Kardashians". I read recently that Kim K has broken up with that guy (whatever his name is) after Kanye (Won't be surprised if she goes back to Kanye). Maybe its ladies like Kim K (and I sincerely apologise for the sexist and judgemental tone of the statement) that can be treated like the ladies the OP is suggesting. The likes of J'Lo that will go back to Ben Affleck after being tossed back and forth (again my apologies). But there is class. There are women out there with class. Women that have been properly raised from good homes with obvious decency and high sense of morality. The 10-15% that the OP recognises. The go getters and game changers of society. Not the slay queens and baby mamas. The lowly man cannot aspire to such class. Its too much for him to be polished and disciplined to reach for. I'm referring to the likes of Ngozi-Okonjo Iweala. The Michelle Obamas and so on. The queens that keep men as kings. Society wasn't always like this. But i guess these are the times that we are in now. As it has been foretold in the good book in 2 Timothy 3, that there will be perilous times in the last days; "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires" An important part of the passage says "have nothing to do with them" Maybe these ladies, the gullible (or weak willed as another translation puts it), the ones out there in society today whoring up and down and looking for SIMPs to mislead should just be left alone, not demeaned or debased or treated in the fashion the OP communicates (as be(a)ches). With time and experience, maybe maturity and wisdom will set in for them. For the ones coming up, lets try give them something proper to look forward to (by possibly being proper ourselves). Thank you. |

Mehn, Dude, first of all I want to congratulate you and compliment you for putting all this stuff together. Its very interesting and It is also thought provoking. I remember when I first came across what I would later learn to be cymatics. I was picking beans as a child and just making random beats with my hand on the pan I was using made the beans to align in different patterns. Then of course, I didn't know what was happening, but it intrigued me. There was also no one to tell because I couldn't even explain it. Fast forward to now and there's a whole field of study around cymatics and how different frequency vibrations produce different patterns. It captures what Nikola Tesla says in one of his most remembered quotes "if you want to learn the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration" On to what you have been discussing...sometimes I really wonder how human beings were able to build some of these monuments. The one that still surprises me the most are the Pyramids of Egypt (and I am surprised you haven't touched on that yet). You need to just check out all the symmetry and alignment of these pyramids with the stars, the lines of longitude and latitude, the equator, their cubit precision and so many other things. Its rumored that the tops of the pyramids were made of gold and used to transmit electricity. Can you talk a bit about that? Its also possible that an advanced race once visited earth and left behind some of these things (monuments and buildings) but then headed off to some other planet (in another solar system or galaxy) Thanks anyways and keep it up. Good job |

GODPUNISHALABI: ![]() Gaddamn! See how this man dissed my club! |
It is beyond ridiculous how we let these uneducated, incompetent low lifes get into positions of power in this country. What a shame! |
HIGHESTPOPORI:Thanks for the rejoinder. I am not hoping the elections will be rigged (and therefore not being delusional as you have needlessly suggested). If they hold fair and square and Obi emerges, all well and good. I am only being realistic in the face of all factors on ground. Electoral act or not, we all know that anything is possible in Nigeria. |
Zikojukwu:Realistically speaking and not based on emotions and sentiments, Obi has no chance...simply put! The structure and machinery of APC and PDP is far reaching. Obi and Labour Party start and end on twitter! Don't also forget that the rigging mechanism is still very much in place. So even if Obi and Labour Party were able to gather enough votes to earn him 2/3 of the votes in each state (which I strongly doubt), all the cabal have to do is activate this machinery and tilt the rewards towards APC or PDP. Between APC and PDP, there is the factor of loyalty to either of the parties and what the current (and possibly incoming) big wigs stand to gain depending on who gets in. The case that PDP may have over APC is in Atiku being a northerner. The north typically votes the north. If Tinubu picks a northern muslim as a VP (possibly El-Rufai) then boom! GAME OVER! All this clamour for Obi is just wishy washy! Tell me a time where Nigerians and Nigerian youths have ever achieved anything from wishing and washing?! Like the OP said, better lets choose between the lesser of the 2 evils. Obi is is a fair choice but in my opinion, it will take a miracle, something out of space for him to win! |
Dsalvo:Baba, oil dey your head...Ten thousand likes for your post! |
I agree with the OP...especially on the reach (and structure) of Labour Party. Let me share an experience. When I served, I was tasked with registering voters in a very remote place in one of the northern states. Till today, I cannot find the place on google maps. It took 2 days before the people in that community would come out to get registered. This was after the Seriki of that area came through all the communities along that stretch to tell them why we were there and what they were supposed to do. Same thing played out during the elections. The seriki just told them to place their voting finger on "broom" (in hausa of course) and to my surprise...thats what they all did. Obi presents a fair choice in that, a shift from the old ways of doing things and given all that has befallen Nigeria in the last 8 years. He can win online or on twitter...but thats not where Nigerian elections are won, especially in Nigeria as it is today (may be in the future). You see those guys in the corners of this Nigeria that don't know what Social Media is...those are the guys that win elections and boy are they numerous. One man had 3 wives and so many children (can't remember their number now). Emotions and sentiments aside, either Tinubu or Atiku will nail it based on the structure and far reach of APC and PDP. All those other parties are just coming to a gun fight with sticks in my opinion. We all know the rules of the game, two thirds of the votes across the nation. So maybe not necessarily a waste in terms of obliging to carry out our civic responsibilities as citizens but possibly a waste in the grand scheme of who emerges winner by the count of votes across the nation as per the rules, structure and reach of political parties. |

Nice thread. The little I know about photography and possibly a reason why you don't see anybody in the old pictures is because of the time it took moving images to be captured on early cameras. The images had to be extremely still to be captured by the lenses at the time. As the technology improved, so did the quality of the pictures and hence pockets of people appearing here and there as more pictures were taken over the ages. On the buildings, well you just have to look at the habitations of the Romans and even the Greeks in all that time before Christ (B.C.). I reckon they got their building designs and how to construct them from the Egyptians. What probably happened as the commentator before me has suggested is that the technologies for these types of craftsmanship were exported to Europe. |
My reasons might not be factual or intellectual enough, but the bit I know I will share. If you lived in Lagos before 1999 like I have, you would know that Lagos State is a microcosm of Nigeria. Nearly every facet, tribe, religion and whatever is present and experienced in Lagos state. When he became governor in 1999 and in the course of his tenure, he introduced the Rapid Response Squad, RRS to tackle crime. He introduced LAWMA to tackle the issue of waste collection and disposal in Lagos. When Obasanjo would not release federal allocation to Lagos state, he created the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, LIRS. He also introduced LASTMA to manage traffic in the state. His ideas and innovations would later be copied throughout Nigeria. Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano and other states created their own similar agencies in the images of the ones in Lagos state to tackle their state issues. Agencies to tackle traffic, waste management, collect revenue and the likes. Now the issue of LIRS might be controversial because of the connection to Alpha Beta and so on and I cannot say much about it because I do not know the intricacies but who here would offer a solution to a problem and not want to collect royalty every now and then for such solution? Through shrewdness and sheer business acumen, he created an empire for himself and used the proceeds to amass wealth and influence within Lagos state and even outside Lagos state to the point of bankrolling politicians to positions of members of house of reps, senators, governors, a vice president and even a president. Nigeria is a corrupt country and we all know that. We live it. Our daily experiences of jumping queues, switching lanes, tapping electricity, running traffic lights and all that are enough evidences. It is endemic...everything between the spectrum of the poor homeless man under the bridge to the rich man in his mansion at Asokoro or Maitama or Banana Island or Lekki. At a global and national level, the data from Transparency International says it all. Now even though the general sentiment is that the methods through which he, Tinubu accomplished all this might be laced with corruption and shady dealings...he was not found guilty when he was arraigned in court by the EFCC. As far as Nigeria is concerned, he who is without sin should cast the first stone. Going by the unconstitutional but gentleman agreement of power rotation between the North and South of the country, Osinbajo would have been a considerable option but for the fact that he belongs to the current government that has brought monumental and unprecedented woes upon woes to Nigeria as it is today rules him out of the equation for me. What would he do now and differently from the past eight years? I feel he might not be able to break himself from the influence of the shroud of the mysterious cabal that encircle and dictate the affairs and runnings of the country from Aso Rock. He showed shades and potential of this in the days that he acted as President, but the reactions of the cabal to his actions, and his subdequent backing down in the face of such opposition when his "Oga" resumed made me conclude that he lacks the manliness to stand firm. If the rumours about Buhari leaning towards Amaechi, his minister of transport as his successor are true, because of the siting of a Transport University in Daura, the Presidents home town, and the promise of a rail network to Niger Republic plus a refinery and/or oil pipeline...then we will be worse off than we are now as a country. The very definition of nepotism in plain sight! And a very easy tool for the cabal to continue as we are. The cabal, including Buhari fear Tinubu and know they will not be able to wield as much influence on him as others. This is why I will vote for him. They recognise his capacity to be a thorn in their flesh and this will be good for Nigeria. If it is a matter of Tinubu extending his wealth and influence across Nigeria, the cabal are already doing that. They don't just have a single face that we can point. Although they have them in many places...just check out all the appointments to Federal Government parastatals. As far as I am concerned, APC and PDP are the same and all contenders for the position of President of Nigeria are all cut from the same cloth. Infact, in my opinion, every one I have not mentioned distinctively are pretenders to the throne. Including former vice president, Atiku. To close, let me score a cheap point for Tinubu on leadership. One of the traits of a good leader is his ability to replicate leadership in others. The names are there for us...the people who worked under and with him and have gone on to establish themselves as leaders and icons in their own right. The likes of Babatunde Fashola, the governor after him and minister in Buharis administration, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, commissioner for Justice at the time and the Vice President of Nigeria under the Buhari administration, Ambode, a Permanent Secretary at the time and later governor of Lagos State, Aregbesola, a one time governor of Osun state, Obafemi Hamzat, Ben Akabueze, commissioner for Budget and Planning and a head of a parastatal under Buhari's administration and so on. Which leader has Buhari replicated? Sentiments aside and based on Tinubu's precedents, I think he will be a good choice for the job. Unfortunately, Buhari's 8 year reign will turn out to be a waste...his precedents from his military rule were there for us all to see but someway somehow, we missed it. The experience of Goodluck Jonathan's regime now feels like bliss when compared to the travesty of democracy under Buhari. |
Another manifestation of the progressive degradation of the Nigerian society |
You guys should stop bashing Nigerian girls of this generation... Not making excuses for them but majority of them are victims of the continual downward spiral of our Nigerian society. In the not too distant past, it took quite a lot for a man to woo a woman. But sadly and steadily, society decayed and many of these ladies today are the byproducts of that decay. With the increasing corruption and loss of values in Nigerian society, the scenario of young ladies living off young men precipitated and has become the norm of today. The problem is made worse with social media. Think of Yahoo Yahoo and the likes. When young girls see other young girls like them doing well and having no direct or relatable source of income or means to fund the "doing well" lifestyle than being the girlfriend of a "well to do guy", what do you expect? I also think it is a function of the absence of the male figure in the home (in many cases...not all). Guys, lets be honest, who doesnt like a decent girl from a good home for keeps? That decency is the reflection of the training that the lady had imbibed as a result of good upbringing evidenced by the presence of the male figure in the home. And it is both ways in this scenario. At the end of the day, somebody has to put in the work. If no one puts in the work, this is what you get. If parents don't put in the work, these are the children you get in society. If we as adults and semi adults don't put in the work (to stem the tide), we continue the narrative of progressive degradation of society. With the increasing cheapening of values, everything has become transactional. If you want me to give up my p*$$y for you, be willing to pay the price. The entitlement mentality that is being frowned at is an uproar at the cost of maintenance for exclusivity..."only me will have this t0t0 for this period of time" Meanwhile, the lady (the hustler that society has turned her into) is also looking to retain premiumship. If she is not receiving funding to maintain her status, her value (and perceived value) drops...ask them T0t0 d?ckeh and t0ke makinwa and co... Gosh! What a vicious cycle. |

fairlyisabel:@fairyisabel, Love does exist...its just that we have confused it with "feelings" when in reality its a decision not an emotion! Its tough to still love somebody when, despite your telling them EVERYDAY, they keep pressing the toothpaste tube from the bottom and you would rather have it pressed from the middle! |
Gentlemen and Ladies (special mention to siamia for opening this thread, God bless you and may you find the Answer to your prayer...AMEN!) Here is a link to a message by the late Dr. Myles Munroe from one of his visits to City of David church here in Lagos, Nigeria for your listening pleasure In this message, he points that INFORMATION and not necessarily love is THE KEY to marriage/relationships. He remarks that we face challenges in relationships because we lack knowledge and information on the subject because we neither study nor prepare for it. His supporting illustration is the fact that we spend several years of our lives acquiring knowledge and information and becoming experts in our chosen fields but don't dedicate any time at all to learning how to live with people. To this end therefore, some of the things we should expect especially at this stage that WE find ourselves are things like cultures, bad habits, backgrounds and so on. These things he says are the things that do not make relationships work! But being informed and acting on that knowledge (wisdom) will increase the chances of relationships surviving! I enjoin you to listen. Its about 93mb to download, but i can assure you that it will be worth every megabyte! God bless! https://www.dropbox.com/s/kpk1jyf71yov5lv/02%20Kingdom%20Standard%20for%20Love%20and%20Mar.mp3?dl=0 |
