That potholes will be left unattended to, to the point they grow into craters only happens in under developed countries. In the first place, when the roads are to be built, the correct quality and quantity of materials are used and only the right type of vehicles permitted to ply that road do so. They are also well designed so puddles don't collect on one spot and form potholes but rather drain away. We can go on. In developed countries, the system of governance works so that potholes are immediately fixed to prevent further degradation. In some cases, citizens even report potholes to the authorities to get them fixed on time. To your point, the bulk of these things, all that was mentioned, are prevalent in underdeveloped societies. |
Baba, they dey wella...pass N1m sef. Nearly 2 years ago, I listened to one of these posts on Instagram (cant remember now, whether Instablog or something)...it had to do with people that japa'd despite being comfortable... They were asked their salaries and my mouth just went You know when yorubas say "nkan ya yan lenu" not only was I surprised, my mouth tore! I heard things like N50m per annum, N40m, N35m and so on...in some cases, couples with combined of nearly N70m! I began to wonder, in this same Nigeria! |

Murphy870:What an opportunity! And very good that you have asked. It means you are wise (or at least want to be) and don't want to make the mistake of fools. In no particular order, I will share part of my experience -what I did, what I wish I did and what I would advice (my opinion) based on what I now know... 1. From a vision/purpose point of view, the thing that you know that God created you to do is what you should start pursuing now. Start quickly, so you can fail early and fail fast (no shortcut to success. You must first jam block before you scale am). Once you have the early failures behind you, you path to success and success itself is assured. 2. If you are still unsure of point 1 at this stage, then go with the band wagon. Learn something tech related like someone has advised. But be weary of the dangers of easy layoffs and fierce competition. Except you are skilled enough to carve a niche for yourself (but you need these last 2 sentences in almost every endeavour) 3. Latch on to free training programs that these professional bodies offer corpers and students at discounted rates. 4. Belong to and actively participate in CDS groups. The skill will become invaluable in the future as, for example, things that you did outside your usual work when you are interviewing with an employer. 5. Depending on your religion, join NYSC Corpers Fellowship and do Rural Rugged. This one is for you to be rich towards God by sharing the truth of the gospel. And if you belong to another religion, do likewise. 6. Meet people and keep their details, especially those that you would consider better off than you are. Be close to one or two of them (not all, because people can be jerks las last). They may come in handy in the future. 7. If settling down is on your agenda, keep an eye out...many future and would be spouses are found during NYSC. Forget all this nonsense on social media. Good girls still dey. 8. BUY AND READ BOOKS. You would be surprised at the magic that is still in the tradition of reading. Forget all this online learning videos and courses. Not that they don't help, they do...but in my experience, nothing beats reading. 9. Make impact in your PPA. Add value, so that in the event the window of being retained opens up, your would be employer wouldn't think twice. 10. Catch cruise. Take life easy. Don't be too serious. Have fun, drink beer and flex (in moderation) |
As stupid and as irrelevant as the opinion from this "actress/celebrity...whatever" is, I cannot but question the demand that gives rise to the supply in the first place. Shout out to the silent, weak, morally devoid, morally corrupt and indisciplined men who covertly or overtly create this market in the first place. But its a viscous cycle...to dabble into the downward spiral of unending reasons and excuses as to why this is so. From individual shortcomings, to inadequacies in parenting and upbringing, to decadence in society and ultimately government failure...gosh! |
Op, I trust that by now, you have learnt your lesson. "Don't shyt where you eat" That being said, you can try the following: 1. Still keep her, the cleaner, in the loop of things till you can gradually douse the vibes between the two of you. Don't act strange or cowardly. Na man you be. If you try to ignore her or give her distance, she will smell it and like someone has alluded previously "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" especially when they are streets. 2. You can run point 1 till the new employee, being a woman as well, detects the chemistry between you and the cleaner. That way, you will sacrifice the vibes between you and the new employee for your job security and sanity. Its a price you may pay for shytting where you eat in the first place. 3. With point 2 in progress, you can start your dissociation from the cleaner for total sanity and peace of mind. Not point 4. If you are given to the dark arts (evil grin) set her up with another guy in your office to "catch them in the act". Bros over hoes. Then like a dog tied to your leash, you buy her silence forever, continue to shine her congo as you wish and even resume paroles unreservedly and with full throttle on your new employee. 5. But as per sey na diligent responsible man wey you be...ultimate advise is to free work related parole. They almost always don't go/end well. Your boss or other senior men fit don dey eye the new employee and God bless you if anyone of them be don dey shine the cleaner kongo... na there you go know sey you no get work. Then you go come open another thread for nairaland... ![]() Cost of this advise is $25 playstation gift card |
![]() You buy beer for Ojez You buy beer for Farm City You buy beer for Shoprite (no need to return bottle sef) or Jumia fit even do home delivery for you The beer fit dey inside Can, Bottle or Keg Na still the same beer |
Skii: ![]() Shay I said it, that EA sports through Fifa 23 (or 22, I don't know which one) simulated Argentina to win the world cup. Well guess what? They did! And what does that mean? Messi almost automatically gets another Ballon D'or! To further squash the already settled argument of who the better player is (even before this 2022 world cup) Shout out to Manchester United for having the balls to show Penaldo the door (I am very impressed!). Shout out to Penaldo as well who has now shown that he is all about the money by joining some club in Saudi for a shit ton of money for the next 2 years. In terms of football however, history will remember Messi in the same bracket as they do for Maradona and just recently the late great Pele. History will not remember Cristiano in the same bracket as these 3. No. Never! |
Not to overflog the issue but here's another reason, another angle why African Soccer is where it is regardless of number of slots in the world cup https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cm2QraBDBSr/?igshid=Yzg5MTU1MDY= This has nothing to do with race or colonisation. Same thing happened to David Alaba with Nigeria. Guy ended up playing for Austria |
PJtech:Error. Apologies. Modified |
boss use the money run small giveaway, some of us need itCuteNbad how far na? |
joyandfaith:Good point! Apparently what I was trying to get across to the Op. If you are a good performer or top at anything consistently, it will show and eventually, you will get recognised. It has nothing to do with race or racial inferiority complex. Whether African, South American, Asian, Arab, Chinese, Indian, European, North American and so on. Outside football, look at the likes of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as an example. The woman is African and knows here business and she is accorded that due respect on the international stage. Same thing Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido. If you are good and consistent, it will eventually show and you will be duely recognised. Back to football and in an effort to lend some credence to the topic of discussion, Morocco are the first African team to reach the Semi-finals! Congratulations to them. But will they be there or even go better at the next world cup (talking about consistency and not a one-off performance)? May God give us grace till the next 4 years to find out. |
FrancescoFarino:Defender |
Great football player. Immediately I saw the post, wicked left legged free kick taker came to mind. We don't have them that take it like you anymore. I'm sure you will be taking greater free kicks in the great beyond. Rest in peace... |
Napata77:Learn to be civil in your response. I am only expressing my opinion. Why all this hate. You sound more like the African you are pointing out. |
Napata77:Bros calm down. I get you and I don't get you. I get you in that Africa has limited number of slots compared to other continents in the world cup. But that will change, if Fifa's plan doesnt, in 2026 when they expand to 40 teams with Africa having 2 additional slots. I don't get you in that even if Africa had more slots in the world cup prior to this world cup, their performance wouldn't have been anything to write home about. The best any African nation has accomplished is 1/4 finalist and even at that she hasn't been consistent. (Forget number of slots here and the ratio/probability of chance) In my humble opinion, had it been that Africa was a steady and consistent performer in the world cup, I am sure that strong cases for more slots would have been made on her behalf before now. Talk about consistent performance...what do we have? Lets not even go far, Nigeria with all her stars can't beat ordinary Ghana to qualify. Ghana that qualified what did they do? Same thing Senegal with all the promise following their African Championship. North Africa that was building some consistency at a time with the likes of Eygpt and Algeria...wetin happen? By the way...did you read the comment from Portugal after they played Nigeria in one of their warm up matches? |
PrettyBolu:Oh pulease! He went to Ghana right next to us and we felt spited! We couldn't get enough of "whats in Ghana that he went to Ghana", "Why didn't he come to Nigeria" ...blah blah blah |
PrettyBolu:African mentality at its finest... This thought pattern belongs in the same bracket as wanting Obama to come to Nigeria ![]() |
Angelfrost: ![]() Singlehandedly ko...nohandedly ni |
Angelfrost:I'm not hating, but I don't see any contribution worthy of note from Cristiano in this world cup. |
kingthreat:I agree with the treatment of Mourinho and for that, as a United fan, I am ashamed! But you see Ibra, Di Maria and even Poorgba abeg, they are past their primes, overrated, and self intoxicated (especially Pogba). |
nairalee:As a leader and people manager, one of the things you strive for is balance and harmony within your team. It can be frustrating when, despite the efforts things go south. Look at how hard EtH has been working just to get a rhythm in the team and build the players confidence. The role he expected Cristiano to play is to inspire belief and confidence in the younger players. But the child in him wouldn't allow. Imagine a Cristiano that would have been cheering and supportive of EtH on the sidelines, giving morale and ginger to the players even when they make errors. Believe me, it would have been a different United by now. But with this nonsense of an interview, what do you imagine the morale in the dressing room to be? The feelings of players that look up to him? Its that same stupid and irritating behaviour thats manifesting in that overrated Ninja turtle (Donatello) in PSG wearing their number 7 jersey. |
Snapchat:Baba, I don't think you have waited as long as I have been waiting... |
TA4TA4:It pains me that Cristiano says that SAF refused him going to City. Now I can respect Cristiano for respecting SAFs position, afterall SAF contributed significantly to what he is today and he is due that honor. But if Cristiano was any smarter, he should have weighed things calculatedly and decided better thereafter. Where would the damage have been more, dishonoring SAF and going to City or going back to Man United...whose fortunes at the time was no secret. They were glaringly struggling with the aberration that was Ralf Ragnick. SAF was only good at managing Man U and obviously not good at other club related business. Just look at his abysmal nomination of David Moyes as his successor that led United into a downward spiral of football oblivion. This poor judgment of SAF was enough for CR7 to use as a yardstick to make his decision. But he chose otherwise and returned to Man U. In truth though, I don't think City would have accepted him. For many reasons, his ego, he is an ex-Real Madrid player (which would conflict with Pep's Barcelona ancestry). His age (37), his ridiculously high wages (even though City could afford him but what about the morale of other players), his declining football work rate (which is evident in nearly all City players), his tendency for selfishness and making everything about him (which is at odds with City's team football philosophy) and so on. The guy should just go and rest |
Highly unprofessional and irresponsible of Cristiano. His Ego is right there on top of his nose and blocking his view thats why he can't see things clearly. He should be grateful to EtH for even keeping him in reckoning, especially when every club that could afford him refused to sign him. He unknowingly just gave Piers Morgan needless rep after his recent blunders (and desperate attempt at recovery) with Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson and so on. To say no progress since Sir Alex is wrong. All that United have been through since Sir Alex is very much progress. Let's see how much "progress" Cristiano manages during the world cup and after. Talk about respect, he is lucky its not Sir Alex he is dealing with. The Boss let go of Beckham, Keane, Stam etc, you name them. According to SAF in his biography, the moment a player starts to feel bigger than the club, you must let the player out. I hope Man U and their board will have the courage to do the needful and show him the door. Without CR7, the team are playing well...going through the dogged rough roads to defend their names on the red jersey and earn their worth in weekly pay. Just watch the passion during and after the Fulham and West Ham games. When he plays, he contributes nothing and just sits up there waiting for passes to make tap ins. Finally, though a United fan, I cannot deny his records, legendary status and what he achieved for Man U. They however pale in comparison to the real and one true G.O.A.T. of football...Leo Messi. This his recent debacle has added another tally stroke in favour of Messi in the gradually concluding argument of who the better player is (will soon be "was" as they are nearing retirement). Shay EA sports has simulated this years world cup to be lifted by the Albeceleste. I hope for Cristiano's sake, that outcome doesn't materialise (despite the Ballon D'or difference between him and Messi)...otherwise....if it does...he should politely end his career on his terms and go into Hollywood and make movies or go to France or Italy and become a fashion model. |
