'A Prophet hardly recieves honour in his own country,' as one of the old sayings goes. This is a sad reflection of our country Nigeria. We do not value, love or honour what we have until we loose it. I have four suggested dates to the President as the "Nigeria National Inventors' Day". Do we have other inventors in this country that have done more than King Prof. Uwemedimoh? Below are the suggested dates: 1. 16th May 1980 - The day King Uwemedimoh invented the Anti-Corrosive Special paint for Q.I.T (Based on info. from Website) 3. 5th August 1999 - The day he officially got his patent certificate from the then President of Nigeria 3. ?? - King Prof. Uwemedimoh's birthday (Somebody fill in the date pls) 4. 1st July 1980 - The day Mobil issued the maiden Local Purchase Order to the King for supplying the product. Let's have more suggestions or ideas pls. |

On the 16th May 1980 King Rev. Dr. C. J. A Uwemedimo invented the Anti-Corrosive Paint having devised / formulated the chemicals to solve Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited problems. The King Rev. @tenfour, begin your search from here: http://www.wipo.int/members/en/contact.jsp?country_id=128 Contact the Nigerian Registrar of Patents at the Industrial Property offices directly. Email addresses and phone numbers are provided there for this purpose. It's all in the public domian, there is nothing secret about it. My personal observation: Since Nigeria is a member of WIPO and a signatory to all their treaties, any genuine Nigerian inventor issued a right and ownership of patent for an invention automatically becomes a member of WIPO. @ Banjo24, thanks for this piece of info. I won't be anywhere around Lagos but you sure bet I'll be with you in spirit and in prayers for a very fruitful and sound deliberation on the way forward. I am appealing to all genuine Patentees who are members of this forum living in Lagos to make it as a matter of priority to unfailingly attend this meeting. Ensure you get all the details you need from Mr. Banjo24 @ Omokemesi, If it would'nt be much of a burden Sir, pls try and represent the assembly at this all important meeting to show our support and explain the difficulties patentees are going through. Apart from the main issue of negotiations for payment of royalties, other issues worth presenting are: 1. By now patentees should be able to logon to a passworded database of registered members on the official website to confirm their registrations. 2. What can patentees realistically expect to get if and when Mobil decides to pay (i.e. mode of payment, arrears and how much, etc.). 3. What steps are being taken on other Oil companies that are blatantly infringing on Prof. CJA Uwemedimoh's invention. Is the whole royalty payment on Mobil's head alone? 4. What role is the Federal Government of Nigeria playing in ensuring that this noble and kind hearted Nigerian (Prof. CJA U.) is not cheated of his rightful reward in terms of royalty payment by all the infringing parties? 5. @ Omokemesi - I can't help laughing too. The assembly has become a kind of "theatre of the absurd", an all comers affair if I may say. However, genuine patentees have nothing to worry about. We should continue to remain sharp and focused. |
