FreeStuffsNG:
The company claimed that its personnel, including the Chief Financial Officer of Zhongfu Nigeria Ltd. (a subsidiary of Zhongshan), Mr Wenxiao Zhao, suffered verbal and physical assault by the police, acting on orders from the state government.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Office, Omolola Odutola, said the police were not involved in the matter.

When contacted for a reaction to the allegation of threat, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun knew nothing about the claims of the Chinese firm and could not respond to them.

Everyone is now denying that it is involved. Smh. This is preposterous! This is completely unacceptable. You inherit both the liability and assets of your predecessors. The current Governor and Ogun State Police Command should have escalated this to the FG and Nigerians instead of this kind of response after the poop has hit the ceiling fan.

Everyone alleged to be involved in this national embarrassment, including the past Governors of PDP under Senator Gbenga Daniel who signed the contract and its successor APC Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun should be invited for questioning and if they are indicted must all be prosecuted like the FG did in the P&ID criminal case.

This is completely unacceptable if all these ill-treatment reports are true. EFCC and DSS must investigate this matter. It should not be left to the politicians.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

Here’s a timeline of the events from the investment deal to the legal battles:

2001: China and Nigeria signed a bilateral investment treaty to encourage investment between the two countries.

2010: Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment, through its parent company Zhuhai Zhongfu Industrial Group, acquired rights to develop the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) in Ogun State, Nigeria.

2011: Zhongshan set up a local entity, Zhongfu International Investment (NIG) FZE, to manage the development of the free trade zone. The Chinese firm then carried out several works, including the development of infrastructure such as roads, sewerage and power networks, within the zone.

2012: Ogun State appointed Zhongfu as the interim manager of the OGFTZ.

2013: A joint venture agreement was signed, making Zhongfu the permanent manager of the OGFTZ and giving it a majority shareholding in the project.

2016: Ogun State abruptly terminated Zhongfu’s appointment and took actions to expel the company from Nigeria, including harassment of its executives and revocation of immigration papers.

2017: Zhongshan initiated arbitration proceedings against Nigeria, claiming breach of the bilateral investment treaty.

2021: On 26 March 2021, the tribunal, chaired by Lord Neuberger, the former president of the UK Supreme Court, ruled that Nigeria breached its obligations under the China-Nigeria BIT and issuing a final award of $55,675,000 in addition to an interest of $9.4 million and costs of £2,864,445 payable by Nigeria to Zhongshan. The total amount is about $70 million.

All efforts by the federal government to amicably resolve the dispute between Ogun State and the Chinese firm were fruitless.

2023: Nigeria sought state immunity in a legal case but was denied by the High Court in the UK, which ruled that the country had exceeded the time limit for appealing arbitral awards.

In July 2023, the UK Court of Appeal upheld a $70 million arbitration award against Nigeria.

As part of its efforts to recover the funds, the company secured interim charging orders over the two Liverpool properties owned by the Nigerian government in June and August 2022.

2024: The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia affirmed the enforceability of the arbitration award.

Nigeria challenged the enforcement but the court held that it had the jurisdiction to enforce the arbitral award under the US Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.

August 2024: Nigerian jets were seized in France as part of efforts to enforce the arbitration award against Nigeria.
Wow they physically and verbally assaulted him?

China is going to deal with Nigeria.

You've said it all my pesin. I once shared the story of one Taiwo here who was very good in soccer. Her skills surpassed what oshoala is displaying today cos I had watched her play in liberty stadium ibadan a couple of times in the past. She always trained with men. She was amazing. When it was time for enlistment, she was asked to bring some money which unfortunately, she was unable to raise. Her coach begged and begged, alas! That's how she was dropped. She ended up going to study nursing . She'd have been an amazing star today. There are her likes in thousands out there, whose hope and talents have been buried due to corruption at the helms.

It was good amusan went to school in the USA. That's how her Star would have been killed. I have my reasons for attacking tinubu here. It's not tinubu alone who's corrupt. We have their likes in every sector. Super corrupt people. Before Nigeria could get better, revolution that will remove all of them from the office they're occupying must happen, either by ballot or by mass protest as we're seeing today. They don't have to be killed. It requires a concerted effort.

In western countries, they won't ask you bring money to be enlisted rather, they'd be the one to spend on you. They know what it means when someone represents their nation well at a major game and wins gold. They appreciate it more than the monetary values which our leaders celebrate here. Money, money and money which won't take them anywhere farther than their graves.

She was originally born 28 years ago in America, so, as an American citizen born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 29, 1996 she is FIRST eligible to REPRESENT the United States NOT Nigeria.

So, Nigeria DIDN'T fail her. If she had NOT worked hard to get that silver medal, then she would ONLY have had herself to BLAME. All Nigerian-Americans youths should first work hard to get into the U.S. sports teams and compete for positions by PROVING themselves. Most of those young Nigerian-Americans who tried to DIDN'T work hard enough to get into the U.S. sports teams, so, they came to see how they could represent Nigeria instead. Working harder is the way to go. Period!

The Texas-based Tobi Amusan who is the current Nigerian World Record holder in the 110 metres hurdles is at least guaranteed to get Nigeria an Olympic gold medal. If not a gold medal, then in a worse case scenario, a silver or bronze medal in her sports category. So, we'll see how things pan out.
She didn’t even qualify for the final.

Just a remark you know that there are kids raised in Nigeria that beat up their parents? Also in UK the Asian youngsters are one of the most deviants. Drugs sex ring etc.

It is complex and not so easy it is neither here nor there.
False Blacks in the UK commit far more crime. Blacks are 40% of the prison population.

MisterRuk:
I can't say for the whole Africa, but for Nigeria our parenting system is "toxic". Unless you retrain yourself mainstream parenting system in Nigeria creates two types of people: Jagudas and simps. In the Asian and Western world older generations see youngsters as potentials, as seeds to fertilized to bring forth fruits and carry on a legacy. In many Nigerian homes young ones are seen as nothing but tools. Many of us don't teach our young ones good values but when they commit a flaw we are quick to rain beating upon them.

If you think training a child in the "Africa way" is ideal, shebi the family is the core of every society ? Look around you, the characters of many millenials and gen Z in today's Nigeria, you will realize that there have been a lot of flaws in raising children over the past years.

Again these guys outside have a strong family system where family values are shared, both nuclear and extended. It's sad to say that in Nigeria our traditional family system is breaking apart, there is so much envy, segregation, fear and distrust among family members ( fear of village people is a subtle sign of that). In many African homes there are no family values, you just need someone to fear in order to behave.
That system never worked for Africa period. This is why I can’t take the black/African way seriously. Why would you raise your child in an environment that doesn’t even have basic amenities like constant power, good roads and adequate infrastructure.

I don't think it is necessary to return a child back to Africa before getting the best out of them. We have well mannered guys raised in the West today, the major work lies with the parents; parents needs to be there to guide and groom them.....it takes a well mannered/trained/educated parents to raise a well mannered child, many parents do not have enough information/education to raise good child.
One can only bring him/her home occasionally to see how things are being done. Going through hardship is not necessary a ticket to a good child. Many great America leaders were raised there and they turned out great.
Look at how blacks contribute to crime in the UK alone. Africans certainly don’t raise kids well.

Hhmm... I don't really know why people tend to believe the US is irreligious. It's only a very small part of the population that identifies as atheist. The country is secular in the sense that religion isn't used as the basis for making laws. But the citizens have and maintain their respective religions.

Again, do you really think the parents need religion as a tool to make thier kids respectful? I personally don't think morality is primarily function of religion. But that's just a personal opinion. I don't think any people in the world are as polite as Canadians (sometimes, the over politeness could be sickening if not deceiving). But yet, they are North Americans.

So would you send your kids to Africa like my friend plans to do?
The more religious parts of the world tend to be worse off.
It may not be as irreligious as Europe but it is very irreligious. The US is also approaching European levels of irreligion . Americans particularly the younger generation are far less religious and much more liberal. It’s been more liberal parties like Democrats winning most of the previous elections. Within another 50 years, The US will be just as irreligious and secular as Europe, Canada, Australia and NZ.

Atheists will conquer the West before they move onto Africa, Middle East and the other developing regions

There comes a point where the developing countries become developed and as that happens the technology and education will improve eradicating religion.

There are so many states in the US like California, New York, Massachusetts etc that ironically tend to be the smartest, richest and most prosperous states as well many developed countries like Japan, Singapore, South Korea where religion is dead.

Within another 50 years, the US will be a highly irreligious country like Europe.

I do know how you arrived at that percentage but I guess we have to stick with our individual experiences then cause here in Canada, the reverse is the case. You'll have to really good to get the job before those with local experience. We have Africans (and Asians) who moved here and decided to keep looking for ways to game the system while we also have the serious ones. So foreigners don't get any preferential treatment. As for the kids, many can't speak their Nigerian languages or even understand the culture (that's probably what a typical Nigerian will define as not turning out well) but these kids aren't any less serious with thier lives. They have thier goals/ambitions and they work towards them just like anyone else. It's okay to want your kid to appreciate your culture but that doesn't mean those don't are bad.
The problem with many Nigerians is that they can’t argue. She’s talking out of her ass. Blacks contribute to a disproportionate amount of crime in western countries. And Africa produces far more terrorists, bandits and thugs than virtually any other continent on the planet.
FamilyRe: Is Africa Really A Better Place to Raise A Child Than The Western World? by Sladem05: 12:08pm On Aug 18, 2024
Again and again it has been proven that violence does the opposite in raising a child.

If a parents is not abusive and are firm with their kids I don't see the need for the child to call police.

That aside you said African kids are smarter than western children.

The world tech today are controlled by invention created by kids from the west- Facebook, WhatsApp, reddit etc can you tell us what African children within the same cohort has created for the world?

Fear and the way we raise kids in Africa kills creativity. I think raising a child should be engaging and they need to allow to explore their creative sides at a very young age.
Don’t mind these fools, Africans/Blacks wherever they go tend to disproportionately contribute to crime there. In the UK alone, Blacks are about 30% of the prison population but are only 5% of the UK population. Ever since Europe has been welcoming migrants from the Middle East and Africa. Their crime has gone off the roof. I wonder why

U last paragraph show u don’t understand what hardening or the “suffering” I’m talking about is.

Who told u people in the village are stronger or sharper or more hardworking than those in Lagos? Who told u the suffering I’m talking about is necessarily going to a more rural area to starve urself and learn farming? Are they not farmers in America?

I’m talking about a tougher system, where the people’s adaptation rate is not only fast bt high. I’m talking of place that makes u think on ur feet not sleep on ur feet, I’m talking of where u the struggle to survive and get by is serious and u have no options. I’m talking about where there’s alot of competition at all levels not just academic, career bt especially on the street. It’s a multidimensional thing i can’t really explain it.

Let me ask u a question: can u survive is a place where the systems are dysfunctional and frustrating ur life and yet u mange to improvise and come out ontop? Most people brought up abroad will loose it in months because ur system supports u well enough.

Now I’m not saying u won’t probably do well if u never face these kinds of hardships bt like u parents coming out of these kinds of places makes surviving in America like child’s play because uve been through worse.

Some Struggles no be mate!!! If that’s what u want to here I’ve said it. U can compare Newyork fast place life to Texas or LA. It’s something similar to that.

When I say no struggle is superior I’m being diplomatic because All struggle is relatively meaningful bt they are not mates.

DO U UNDERSTANDhuh
Most people on this thread haven’t got a clue as to what they are on about. How you reach the conclusion that a continent that produces more criminals, rapists, drug dealers, terrorists, bandits, scammers and thugs is better to raise a child baffles me. If you raise a child in a more violent and wartorn region how is that better as opposed to raising them in a stable, rich and prosperous part of the world. How do you expect to get a good result?

Western countries in particular the USA have the crime they do because of Africans/Blacks. Black Americans are only 14% of the US population but are well over 50% of homicides. In other western countries, Africans and Carribeans contribute disproportionately to the crime in those regions. E.g in London the gangs there are mostly Carribean or African.

Afghanistan were not producing their own weapons but yet the held the soviets to a standstill and eventually forcing them to retreat.

The USA invaded Afghanistan and again the American were faced by a bitter Afghan resistance which lasted for 20 years untill the US fled from that country without their weapons.

Ethiopia was were not manufacturing their own weapons but yet they defeated the Italians in the battle of Adwa in 1896. Vietnam wasn't fabricating weapons but the north Vietnamese forces defeated the US forces during the Vietnam war.

In military history it wouldn't be fare to ascertain the outcome of warfare by giving the advantage to oneside after judging from the self production of weaponry by one party over the other.
Most of what you said is not true, in the Vietnam war. Only 60,000 Americans vs millions of Vietnamese. Look at this conversation,
“You know, you never defeated us on the battlefield,' Col. Summers said. 'That may be so,' Col. Tu replied, 'but it's also irrelevant”

The US loses war because of its politicians. You can’t match American muscle on the battlefield. It’s not possible. That country is still way too powerful. You beat them with diplomacy and guerilla tactics. That’s how Vietnam, Afghanistan sent the Americans packing. The US could kill those countries with a sneeze.
