Please click 'like' if you doubt if anything good can come out from ASUU Or the Nigerian GOVERNMENT?
Are you silly? Will clicking a million likes solve the issue at hand? This is a serious matter, please! |
McLuhan: Have you studied the said agreement? Personally, I can tell you that I have. I possess both a hard and a soft copy of the agreement and I can assure you that I have devoted hours - and I mean hours - to a meticulous perusal of that agreement. For that reason, I can confidently and solemnly aver that it is a sensible, even modest, proposal for rescuing our universities from the doldrums. Believe it or not, there are no "loopholes" - as you prefer to call them - in that document. The only loophole I see is the insincerity of a government which prefers to acquire additional presidential jets rather than fund education, something which even the most affluent countries, such as the US and UK, would not do and which our neighbours in Ghana would dare not contemplate.Bro, could you send me a copy of the agreement? Thanks. |
Does the girl know the medicinal value of $perm? Can she pay for the whole $perm the guy deposited into her? Was she ra-ped? |
I think the word "ASUU strike" should be censored on nairaland till further notice. |
ugopeter: From the press conference held today by the ASUU president @ Unilag, Lagos. Here is some of d highlights of the press conference held today. ASUU president: FG should implement the 2009 agreement. Nothing short of that will make ASUU call off the strike.FG has bad faith towards education.FG supported failed banks and airline but when it comes to public education - NO MONEY.Suswan committee was to deceive Nigerians with a promise of N100 b.NASS are collecting much more from the economy more than they are contributing. ASUU has worked for d allowances and ASUU must be paid.Governing council have done post-utme at their own risk. Only academics staff can conduct post-utme exam. Finally, ASUU STRIKE WILL NOT BE SUSPENDED UNTIL THE FG IMPLEMENT THE 2009 AGREEMENT. Ugopeter Uche...LGS reporting LIVE from UNILAGThanks, man! Na 2014 things. |
woodcook: .That's the size of your brain? |
God please, let today's meeting be fruitful. |
The devil is just using these famous celebs to advance his evil agenda. Was the guy gay from birth? Hasn't he phocked a couple of girls in his life? Shame on these gay men! |
Dafuq is wrong with that ASUU chairman? Does he want the FG to include cows in the negotiations? |
bassdow: Hello at All, i really agree to what OP said cos am unable to finish the 5Mb that Glo Gbam gives me but with the 30mb that GLO Bounce gives me, am able to finish it in less than 2hours doing the same things i do when on Glo Gbam and i use a low end java phone. Glo i dey hail oPeople say MTN is bad. To me, they are still the best network. I finished Glo's 30MB in 2 days, but MTN's 10MB is remaining 6MB after 2 days, used at the same rate with the Glo 30MB. Those Glo peeps are so cheap! |
Pathetic noise makers! Shaataaap and call-off the damn strike! |
Goodluck. I wish it were a short story. . . |
JTF keeps throwing uncomfirmed garbage to the media. Meanwhile, Boko Haram may be finalizing their next attack which will be a huge success as usual. |
It's a huge shame that Nigeria has gotten to this deplorable stage. I think I understand why motor parks and markets are sprawling up all over Aba. |
Afam4eva: I have another job. Do you?Afam, are you really mocking people's misfortune? Hmm. Odiegwu o! |
Yes, I already stated that Osofisan and Raji are outright favourites, I just tipped Amatoristero to put up a fight; although anything can happen. Your thoughts about the prize structure is noted. The organization of the prize encourages writers to write out of their genre (not out of pleasure or ambition but simply to position themselvesfor the prize), and even rush to meet "deadline''. This has the possibility of compromising substance and is potentially detrimental to the development of literature. Alternatively, the prize should be spread across the genres thus: The Nigerian Prize for Poetry, The Nigerian Prize for Prose (children and adult) and The Nigerian Prize for Drama. I felt odd two years ago (or was it last year?) when Prof. Akachi Ezeigbo and Uche Peter Umez were shortlisted for the prize. I'm not really sure. . .does Prof. Ezeigbo originally write stories for kids? |
I hope he defeats his demons soon enough. By the way, a picture of him won't be too bad. |
9jadelta: First, if u are using android, that will happen, second, sites like goal and livescores sometimes have many pictures that drain your bandwith. Download traffic monitor to monitor your usageI don't use android, and I know about pictures and bandwith. I even had to disable images to verify my suspicions, and I wasn't proved wrong. Thankfully, others have stated their experiences. |
uche715: hmmn, na wah oh. why open d thread at first if u r nt sure if d mb is genuine, i have such mb and i downloaded a file worth 30mb and i ve confirmed it, so next time do your homework properly to be sure of something before coming here to drop trash! It may have worked for you, and it's now clear that it doesn't work for others. Learn how to use words. |
30MB may not be enough to create a post here, but we surely can't ignore the tricks used by these network providers to scam subscribers. I migrated to Glo Bounce, recharged N200 and got 30MB. I spent 20 minutes on nairaland with my phone. When I logged out, the balance was 26MB. Meanwhile, with the 5MB from Glo G-bam, I can browse nairaland for up to 2 hours with the same phone and exhaust just 2MB or less. But with Glo Bounce, I exhausted 9MB under an hour, surfing sites like nairaland, goal and livescores. Now, I'm going back to G-bam because Glo Bounce is a ruse! |

rahamAllah: And do you mean there are no writers who portray the positive side of Africans? Why must the award most time go with those that portrays our odd side? The irony is that you, as a Nigerian, will mostly criticize your country, like we do on this forum, but you are angry when that criticism is recognized and sanctioned outside the country. Let's face the bitter truth: most Nigerians are not happy with the way the country is run, and when we have an opportunity to give voice and life to these negative feelings, we should make good use of it. |
What can I say? I wouldn't want to be among the judges right now! Strong list they got there! Suprizes are wont to spring up in events like this. However, I think Osofisan, Raji and Amatoristero Ede (he briefly edited for Spectrum Books before leaving the country). While Osofisan and Raji needs little or no introduction, it is worthy to note that Amatoristero is no push over! I read some poems from his collected poems, Carribean Blues and it was deep and resounding. . .makes you think of Maxim Uzoatu or the late Esiaba Irobi, who left before the noon of his life. Amatoristero has won the ANA/Okigbo Prize for Poetry and BBC Poetry prize. He may be David among the Goliaths, but literature is different from mathematics; one plus one is not always two! |
I bet they have never heard the word ''constitution". |
tianshie: I do know that Chimamanda shopped "Purple Hibiscus" around to about twenty publishers before it was accepted. Chika and Soyinka were not upstarts when they published those books. Chika had already won the BBC short story competition years earlier, and published "The Phoenix" in dutch before the English. I'm at a coffee shop and the Internet isn't so fast. [s]Could you please google Soyinka yourself?[/s]The bolded explains it all. You did not isolate upstarts in the previous post I quoted. I understand you better now. |
tianshie: Art should not necessarily reflect patterns in the society; it's main object is expression. Anything outside that is coercion. Mediainspired raises a good point: a certain kind of writing is expected of the Third World, because the West requires the existence of the 'Other,' to justify, and relate its own progress (that's well documented), just in the same way the pope declared that exploring empires in Europe could forcefully steal from Africa if it could be proven that, 1, the people were not Christians, and, 2, the natives were a race of cannibals. Not hard to prove number one, and number two, only asked the will to fabricate. You raised some valid points. However, I do not entirely agree with the part where you seem to imply that books that do not reflect the poverty and backwardness of Africa are not usually recognized. Adichie's Purple Hibiscus, Chika Unigwe's Phoenix; Soyinka's The Interpreters, amongst others, are not exactly testimonies of corruption and the 'gutterness' of Africa. Thank you. |
Orikinla: That's right.Yes, we shouldn't. It hinders progress. |
GLO Bounce is A MILLION TIMES BETTER than G-bam. I'm using G-Bounce now. The 30MB is credited sharperly, unlike G-bam that you may have to call Customer Care. BOUNCE is cool! |
mediainspired: I wish they gave the reason they would no longer award prizes for books, but that's still fine. But I wish Commonwealth Writers' Prize panel would stop giving preference to stories that fit the West's stereotypes of Africa when deciding winners from the continent. I mean, check the winning entries of West-organised international literature prizes, the themes are usually woven around poverty, crime, war, corruption etc even when they're not entirely exceptional works.Literature should reflect the society, and rightly so! If our society is immersed in abject squalour and corruption, why should literature look the other way? And why should the judges fail to recognize stories that are true to the society they project? |
Please I'm browsing with my phone now, the pix is not clear and I don't want to jump into conclusion. . .her brea$ts look exhausted. Am I correct? |
This next prize, I pray, will surely benefit me or/and my nairaland Literature Section comrades (shortlist category or the actual prize). Amen! Baba Orikinla, thanks for the post. *Time to polish that beautiful story* |
rapsodeep: No time for long talk. Money don finish.simpleIt is clear that your opinion is based on tangible ignorance. |
