Well, 4 me, i'd go for Valeria. She's da bomb! 1) she's got the beauty (cute dimples) 2) she's got the height (taller than d rest) 3) she's got the innocence (i love ladies who look like they can't hurt a fly) 4) she's got the elegance (its in there, though not too pronounced) 5) she's got the heart of purity (nice to a fault) As for Angela, she's second But i love her eyes and her dimples (the best)! they rock! Isabel, yeah she's sexy and pretty; but to me she's not my kind of lady. I like dem modest! |
Jydeboy, am still awaiting your response. In response to what you wrote: Huxley, your writings would never make sense to people who has no in-depth knowledge of philosophy. It would always sound atheistic and esoteric to them.I ask again, what is not atheistic about Huxley, when he himself says he does not believe in God, and that's why he posted this, anyway. Huxley's quote You are right! I do not have a god-belief nor do I think that he/she/it exists. I am also very critical of all forms of religions and superstitions. If any form of religion or superstition is intellectually coherent, it should be able to stand up to rigorous analysis. And my question still hasn't been answered, i asked him, since he has read lots of books, he should have read the bible too. I want to know his opinion, and even yours too, on it. Do you believe in what the bible says? Some people are afraid to read it, cos they're afraid they'll see condemning and judging statements to those whose ways are not right before God. However, God is love personified, and he wishes that all comes to repentance and acknowledge him as the only true God, the creator of heaven and earth. So what's your take? |
Nice one there Lafile. Now let's see how Jagoon can counter this. |
@jydeboy Huxley, your writings would never make sense to people who has no in-depth knowledge of philosophy. It would always sound atheistic and esoteric to them. But Huxley responded to Joomiegal this way: You are right! I do not have a god-belief nor do I think that he/she/it exists. I am also very critical of all forms of religions and superstitions. If any form of religion or superstition is intellectually coherent, it should be able to stand up to rigorous analysis. Now you say his writings are esoteric and would not make sense to those without d indepth knowledge of philosophy. I asked a simple question; since he's read a lot of books, he must have read the bible too. I just wanted to know what his true opinions of the bible are, whether baseless and untrue or whether he believes some part of it, or just whatever he thinks of it. |
@huxley You've read so many books and i assume you must have read some parts of the bible too (if not all). What do you think of the bible? Do you think the stories and teachings there are all made up? |
Personally i don't like my lady wearing waist chain or beads. However, she did wear a waist chain for some time (say one or two months) and tried explaining why it was just ok, as long as she wasn't exposing it for people to see. I must confess, it looked good on her. However, waist chains are more tolerable than waist beads, cos the beads make you look local and quite fetish (the chains are more classy). What i cannot stand however, is leg chain or is it ankle chain they call it? It's a big turn-off. I feel those with underworld influences, e.g. d mammy waters, outlandish girls etc. are those that wear it. I might be wrong, but that's my mentality. I feel decent girls should do as much as they can to resist attracting attention to them. |
Jehovah God in heaven, i love you with all of my heart, might and soul! I praise you! I worship you! I exalt you! Blessed be your holy name forever! Lord Jesus, i adore and worship you, thanks for being there for me, for your love and grace! Thanks for making me a joint heir with you! I'm most grateful! Holy Spirit, you are awesome! How sweet it is to experience your presence! I need you more than anything in my life! I need you to lead me in the way that i should go and for you to order my steps. Help me Lord to please you always; thinking, saying and doing only those things which are pleasant in your sight! |
Intelligent people might believe in God, but maybe some of them see through religion as it were, and a good number have come to the conclusion that it's all a hoax. We have real and fake pastors, and those fake ones whose gimmicks or foul play have been found out, further help to strengthen the resolve of these people who don't believe in God, to stay further away. However, a good number of these intelligent people believe in God and in some of the doctrines present today, however few they may seem. Broad is the way that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that lead to life eternal. Isaiah 5: 21 says Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! However if you truly desire to know the truth, ask God in prayers, and i'm telling you that situations will unfold that will make you see the truth as it is. In my opinion however, a thousand books, cannot replace the importance of the all-important book, The Holy Bible. It's full of mysteries and you can never know it all. Each day you find new and amazing revelations about what God says. It's man's manual for living! |
However the answer to the question "Is fornication really a sin?" is that YES, fornication is a sin! 1st Corinthians 6:18-20 says it all. 18. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19. What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Also Isaiah 5:20-21 says 20. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21. Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Please let's take the bible as it is, and not try to interpret it to soothe our own understanding or desires. |
Mayb you should have used another title rather than the one u used. Infact the alternative one u wrote "Guys And Their Indecent Exposure - The Flip Side (From A Female View!) would have calmed nerves much better. And judging by the downward trend of posts, from the one you started with, the real issues started coming forth. My point here is if you say "Men and their indecent dressing", then i do not agree with you on that, cos points raised by u gals about their indecent exposure fell short of reasoning. On the lighter note, you started the dissing, not me. However i'm game with the truce. As per ur IQ, of course i won't go there, cos u're hot! (as you claim), only i hope you don't get too hot at the other side of the brain ![]() And yeah, i DO have an idea of wot an ideal torso should look like!Anyways how would u have wanted me to address pple? I was just contributing after reading every post, and needed to download what was on my head. Anyways, nice forum, and twas nice learning about how more ladies than i thought trip over guys (in their minds) ![]() |
Na wa o. i think this guy's brain is a pentium 1, or worse still, an abacus!! put a sock in it, bubba!!! Goodness, you are soooo pissing me off, who sed anything about flings? or you think the sistas who contributed to this thread are airheads with no control? this post was just meant to be humorous, and most peeps got that, chai!@joomiegal You don't have to dat rude. Mayb you gals were tryin to pull a fast one on us guys, as in by gettin to us with the notion dat we dress indecently. And i stated my points clearly. It seems you can't handle the truth in those statements. Not that i don't understand the humorous side of it, but if you're crackin jokes, let it be flawless! Not dat you think u gals are all right, and other p.o.v.s are wrong. How una ladies dey take dress for house sef? Do you all wear your bras and all dat when sleeping? When guys see you in the morning nko? You think you don't make their head spin d more with dose nipplesbulging out from under you night wear, or wrapper? Dose doin athletics and ballad dance steps, nd cheer-leaders nko? Abeg leave matter for mattias! Maybe na Pentium zero abi na slate dey ur brain sef. |
Can you name any "truths" about reality that have been revealed by religion or faith?@ huxley I think my question to you would be; do you believe in the holy bible and its entire content? |
Science is not the truth! Science rather, as someone said, is an empirical method of finding the truth. The metaphysical exists! There are so many things that are beyond the scope of man, but it takes revelation via research and divine inspiration for new discoveries that advance human existence to be made. You can't know too much about God. Many of the early scientists that invented things that led to the advancement of society today were inspired by God. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things that God has prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them to us through his Spirit, for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea the deep things of God (1 Cor 2:9-10). Even the bible also say that God's ways are higher than man's way, and his thoughts than our thoughts. He is the only wise God, the full embodiment of wisdom. Wisdom with men, as the bible puts it, is foolishness in God's sight. Religion however can yield answers for the curious soul, when there's FAITH. Faith is believing in not only what you can see, but also what you can't see, it is believing what you might not be able to explain, but you're convinced its there! |
Jagoon, Deut 22:13-30 that you quoted earlier said in verses 23-29 23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife (note that they[the fiance and her] are not yet married, yet it said another man's wife). You must purge the evil from among you. 25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the girl; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders his neighbor, 27 for the man found the girl out in the country, and though the betrothed girl screamed, there was no one to rescue her.Does this mean that if a virgin is pledged to be married and disvirginned by her to-be spouse before the marriage, it is not a sin? (as in have sex with her fiance) as it wasn't mentioned amongst the sins (especially since the marriage is hoped to take place anyway, and she is considered his wife already?) Asides from that, Heb 13:4 states that Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Again it says the bed is undefiled in marriage, but it doesn't say that engaged couples, or lovers not yet married are defiling the bed by having sex. it mentions adulterers and LovePeddler-mongers (prostitute-patronisers). I also need clarification here, with scriptural backing, and its not that i'm using this to indulge, in fact i'm not indulging in any way. so anybody got answers? (However i know it's best to wait, but most times, its really not easy). |
Or does anyone not agree with my points? |
crikey, why are some guys so…, . please read the original post really slowly, maybe u might eventually understand. No guy was ever in danger of being ''jumped'' (I speak 4 myself and I believe at least 98% of the ladies. We leave such caveman tactics to u men. The ladies are just humorously trying 2 express themselves, that although they never show it, and most wuld rather be skinned before they’d admit it, that attractive men going topless gets to them.Which ‘result’ will be seen by all in some years? Chai, I tire for you o….loooonng hisssssssssssTopic says: Men and their indecent dressing. Do bare-chested, boxers-wearing men go to work like that? Or do you ladies expect men to wear jeans, suits and agbada while playing basketball or performing any other sporting event like athletics? Or should they dress like that while in their houses with members of their families? So what's indecent about being topless and wearing only boxers? You've only succeeded in opening up that you lust after men based on their physique, and of course, you won't readily admit to them. However, if such men (d sharp ones who want to play dirty) are aware and decide to capitalize on that weakness of yours, what would your resistance level be like? So what happens? You fall, and then later decide it was a mistake? That way many flings have happened and will continue to happen. You shouldnt let such things get into your head as a responsible woman, and the more you dwell on it, and spy tactfully like some have said they do, the more easily you'll fall prey some day, wanting to feed your lust. And its a big shame! More women on the other hand, go to work, schools, and other places with indecent dressing all in the name of fashion, comfort and style! Besides, if you ladies want to talk about you tripping for men, it's not only those that have cool body shapes and bulging Joysticks you trip for, quite a good number of you ladies also trip for guys with the money (any surprise ugly men marry and date beautiful women?), guys that are good at sweet-talking (lieing that they own or they are what they ain't), fine guys (not necessarily those with wonderful physiques), guys that are intelligent, guys that just blow you out of your mind with their uniqueness, etc. The list is endless, i beg. |
I see Portugal facing Netherlands (Holland) in the final of Euro 2008. Remember Netherland trashed Italy (3-0) in their opening group match. They are a very prepared and purposeful team and i see them beating Portugal in the final. Up Netherlands! |
Imagine you've resolved not to have sex again till you're married, and your current relationship with some1 u love so much strictly obeys that rule. And you get to be around your ex (who never really got over you anyways) whom you had a number of sexcapades with in ur then days. Now dont you think it might be dangerous to be in secluded places with this ex, particularly when you know your touch sparks fire down her throat? |
There's no standard timing to how long it takes to fall in love. Those who fall in love immediately are usually drawn into thinking so because of infatuation (they think they've found the perfect person!). True love takes time to develop, questions must be asked within you, and u must find the right answers to them. Sometimes you think you love a person u just met, but given a few days or few weeks, when asked again, you realise you were never really in love. So what most people think is love is not really love! True love must pass the test of time. You must know you guys are not perfect and the other person would do things to annoy you often times. But there must be a baseline where your fundamental values are in cohesion, and you must decide that irrespective of the other person's shortcomings, you're still willing to live with the person or hope to live the person for the rest of your life. That is LOVE! And like every other thing, love must be nurtured, else it loses its flames and passion as time goes on. In one of my poems (actually lyrics for a song i wrote), Love's like a computer language Garbage in, garbage out Yes its like a software programme Thats exactly what love is ![]() |
Love is deep; it is all-encompassing You can give without loving but you can't love without giving God so loved that he gave us his son Love is making d other person a better person Love is sacrifice; it is compromise for the right cause (not wrong cause) Love is not self-seeking; it endures; Love is life!!! God is Love; having love means having God! |
Is it only women that give guys romantic test? Do guys not give ladies test too? To me, the more you try to go by the theories and principles, the more cofused you may find yourself. People are different (not all ladies are the same, not all guys are the same). What works for A might not work for B. I think you just have to be natural; what's yours is urs; you dont have to go chykin all d ladies to assert dat u're truly d man in control! |
Well, for me, Sunday's match will end (2) Nigeria vs Ghana (1). We're defeating the Ghanaians by a one-goal difference. A though and entertaining match it indeed will be. The Super Eagles will be surprising all of us. They're getting their groove back! |
Hi, I'm a Screenwriter cum Producer. Recently incoporated an entertainment media company "Matol Media Concepts Limited", and we are working on producing two films this year. Currently have screen credits for TV Programs, as Associate Producer and Scriptwriter on local TV, and Africa Magic for the company i still work for (though not for much longer). Matol Media is a revolutionary company with divisions in Film/TV Production, Publishing, Edutainment, Audio, Film Exhibition and Distribution. |
Seun, the other option would be to go on a barter arrangement with the TV station in question. I'm not sure NTA network does barter, but a whole lot of other stations do barter. At least i know of AIT, G65, Silverbird, MBI, Galaxy, and even TV stations outside Lagos. Buying airtime is really expensive as has been said on this thread. Most of these TV stations look for qualitative content programming to be compiled for a given quarter. If your programme is good and bound to generate dedicated viewership, the TV station could collect your programme without collecting a dime from you. However, depending on agreement on the terms of the barter, you would be required to market the programmes to attract sponsorship and/or advert placements. The proceeds from this would be shared in a formula stipulated by the agreement e.g 60:40 ratio or 70:30, whichever way it goes. |
However, if truth be told, most scripts in Nigeria today do not go through the Nigerian Copyrights Commission (a few do, though, but its not common). In the NCC, they are more used to issuing copyright notifications for literary materials (books). Film works that get copyright notifications are those that have been already produced, and are in the format with which they will be in the market (i.e. VCDs, DVDs, and videotapes). And it is also one of the National Film and Video Censors Board requirement before approving any film work with censorship ratings. |
To get a script copyright notification, you have to go to Nigerian Copyrights Commission (NCC) office (their name has been changed to Nigerian Intellectual Property Commission though they still use the NCC name). Their Lagos office is at Costain, close to the National Theatre at Iganmu. However, copyright to your literary work is not registrable, at least that was what i was told when i did for a particular film script i wrote 3 yrs ago. Rather what you get is copyright notification, since the Copyright Act says any original work created by a person, automatically vests that person with copyright without any formality as registration. The commission only notifies your work in case of future infringement. They currently issue a copyright certificate as opposed to the letter-headed copyright notification they used to issue in the past. Method of getting the certificate involves getting an application form from their office, paying a certain sum (can't remember but i think its 5, 000 naira now) to their official bank account, submitting copies of your literary work (4, i think), and that should be about it. They'll then tell you to come for your certificate on a particluar date and that's it. So you need to go to their office first. Hope you found this useful. |
i and my fiancee share the same password to our different mails. She doesn't bother to read my mails, cos she's doesnt spend as much time as i do online. However i read hers from time to time, though not always. Definitely we trust each other and our relationship is anchored on our trust in God. I think married couples are meant to be one, and not two distinct persons. ("And a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife and the two shall become one" - thats what the bible says.) However its not about checking your partner's emails to see if something hanky panky will come up. It's about trust! |
Seun, for you to determine how much to pay your writers for your sitcom, a couple of things must be put into consideration. The most important, is your production budget. What is your production budget like? Is it big budget or low budget? You have to cut your cloth according to your size. Basic Hollywood standards for purchase of scripts is 2.5% of the direct approved budget (excluding legal, interest, contingency, over head and completion guarantees). However, it all boils down to negotiation. The world's most expensive screenplay was sold for $3 million (Basic Instinct) and we've had low budget Hollywood films made for less than $100, 000. So it depends on the overall budget, and negotiation. Also, how many episodes are you looking at producing? The more the number of episodes, the more reasonable it would seem if you bargain to pay less. Do you already have a storyline, basic plot structure, or setting (with numbers of characters) in mind? Or will the writer be required to do everything, as in create the story concept for you? You need to put these things into consideration. Some TV production companies would rather hire scriptwriters and pay them salaries monthly, churning out more scripts out of them for less, and would also require them write for other anticipated productions. Choose which medium suits you best. |
Yeah, we need hardwork. Our scriptwriters need hardwork. Are you talking of continental awards or global awards for our scripts? To me, Nollywood is still young (15 years old), compared to a stable Bollywood and Hollywood that has produced American Presidents and Governors. Our movies are yet to be recognized at the Oscars, however we have had African actors and actresses in the recent past, win Oscar awards or at least been nominated. Legislation and policies have to be lobbied for Nollywood, and the entire system has to be structured properly. It's a growing industry, and u can see, if the NFVCB's reforms on distribution can be adhered to, a better thriving system will be in place. Movies will be more succeessful etc. We need Movie villages (at least three in Nigeria; North, South-West and South-East). We need to have more websites and magazines on the professional Nigerian film and TV industry. We need to have sites like American Screeenwriters Association, Hollywod Reporter, Filmmaker Magazine just to mention a few. We need to organize local Screeenwriting competitions to improve the quality of our scripts and to encourage people to get involved. We need to have agents, who act as intermediaries between screenwriters and producers. We need to have a functional website where scripts can be registered to ensure copyrights. We need to have entertainment lawyers (Nigerian Law School does not put much focus on Entertainment Law). We need to develop these areas. Nigeria has the population, it currently churns about 200 movies monthly, but how many are that successful? Current estimates indicate that Nollywood generates $286 million annually and is a high employer today in Nigeria (Membeers of AGN (actor's guild of nigeria) alone are over 5, 000). It enjoys vieewership of over 600 million people in Africa and millions more in African communities in the Diaspora. The potentials are there, the market is there, we are not there yet, but people need to start doing something in their own little ways to promote the industry. Soon it will be no surprise when companies like Warner Bros, 20th CenturyFox, Universal Pictures and others set up distribution shops in Nigeria, as their African partners. We already have Nu-Metro, a South African distribution company, with stores in Lagos, Nairobi and Jo'burg. Its just a matter of time, folks. Need i say, we now have Nigeria's first film studio (Studio Tinapa). |
thanks for that jideosik |
