PoliticsRe: Stop Killing Boko Haram Members – Buhari Tells FG by sleekymag(m): 4:54pm On Sep 07, 2014
It's an old news, over a year ago, and yes, APC had been created then or was in the offing. Buhari won't say the same thing today, but even as at when he made the statement it was very wrong and definitely sympathetic to BH's cause. Our national leaders (not regional leaders) shouldn't be seen to make such comments.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. — Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. — Genesis 1:2 (KJV)

Wetin dey for Sokoto dey for your sokoto trousers. The earth was without form and void (empty), save for the endless wave of waters.

PoliticsRe: The Bitter Truth About The National ID Card With Electronic Payment Feature by sleekymag(m): 12:26pm On Aug 29, 2014
It's only a sign of the end times. The third world countries are the ones with challenges for the coming antichrist and false prophet. Once Nigeria becomes a success story with the database of all its citizens intact like the new national electronic id card affords, then other smaller African countries can follow suit. There'll be order...and yes, when the mark of the beast is required, there'll be no hiding place for anyone to beat the system. In other words, accept Jesus Christ now, these things are inevitable.
PoliticsRe: The BAD IMAGE Of Nigeria Is Caused By The Way Nigerians Present Nigeria by sleekymag(m): 8:34am On Aug 28, 2014
The problem with Nigeria is Nigerians! Most of us are loudmouths. We all want to be heard! Whether communicating ignorantly, or with halftruths, or from a personally biased view, we all want to be heard, and fortunately social media helps our laughable cause. We do not try to be objective, neither do we take the pains, most times, to seek the root cause of things. We are driven by sentiments, our leaders only reflect the kind of people we are, yet we complain abput them without realising we also have to change ourselves from within. Despite all theae i know it is well with Nigeria but we must take steps to becoming better people in the true sense of the word!

Christianity EtcRe: A Theological Discuss On Tithing By Rhymeyjohn, Image123, Mark Miwerds & Candour by sleekymag(m): 5:18pm On Aug 02, 2014
I read through the nine pages from yesterday evening and i must say it's very well-researched and deep. Thanks to MarkMiwerds and Candour for their positions (which i share) and also to the opposing team, Image123 and Rhymeyjohn. I believe we're under grace now, and should give based on love motivation and not in monetary tithes as many of us have erroneously walked in over time. Also thanks to early proponents on nairaland like PastorKun,and thanks to Drummaboy for the effective moderation of the discuss to be free of spiteful comments and derailment. God bless you all.
SportsRe: Germany Vs Argentina: World Cup Final (1 - 0) On 13th July 2014 by sleekymag(m): 11:56pm On Jul 13, 2014
HARDUBUY: Some world cup facts many people don't know......
1. The world cup is 38cm in length.
2. The world cup is made of 18 caret gold.
3. Germany is the 1st european team to win the trophy on American soil.
4. Klose played 4 different WC tournament.
5. The 2014 Brazil world cup is the 20th since its origin.
6. This world cup tournament recorded 171 goals....Only one shy of France 1998.
7. Numbers of brace scored was 14.
8. 13 penaltys was awarded while 12 was converted to goal during the 2014 WC.
9. Fastest goal scored in this tournament was 0:30 seconds.(Dempsey against Ghana)
10. Lionel Messi does not deserve the Golden Ball.
Actually France 98 also recorded 171 goals, same as this world cup. So it's a record-equalling feat with fewer cards dished out.

Month 3 - Sivan - May / June - Zebulun
Month 4 - Tammuz - June / July - Reuben
Month 5 - Av - July /August - Simeon
Month 6 - Elul - Aug / Sep - Gad

Month 9 - Kislev - Nov / Dec - Benjamin
Month 10 - Tevet - Dec / Jan - Dan
Month 11 - Shevat - Jan / Feb - Asher

I guess we can mean the seventh month in the bible to mean between September and October.
PoliticsRe: Factors Behind APC Popularity Decline by sleekymag(m): 4:21pm On Jul 03, 2014
I had wanted a viable and ideological opposition to the ruling PDP so our democracy could develop further. So far the mega party APC has failed on all fronts in my opinion. They manipulate public perception or opinion, they've tried so hard to paint GEJ in a bad light, as clueless and incompetent. They go silent on his achievements and great strides and they amplify the shortcomings. They're happy with the current security challenges in the country, infact anything that will paint GEJ negatively. They forget people tend to sympathize with the seemingly weak. Why cow and bully the man out of office? They laugh at his wife, Patience, using every opportunity to make the most of her grammatical blunder, if any, whether in lexis and structure or in her intonations and accents (e.g. Diaris God o). They forget the electorate (masses), can relate with her better than any elitist purview, (Ask our mothers and aunties and fathers..a nation united in language by Pidgin English). They forget one of the reasons for Fayemi's loss in Ekiti is his elitist standing as opposed to Fayose being a man the grass root identifies with. I voted GEJ in 2011, I had said if he was recontesting I would rather not vote at all in 2015, but the APC's manner of haunting this man has brought the resolve out in me, by God's grace I would be voting GEJ back into Aso rock in 2015. We need an ideological, credible, non-violent, non-manipulative opposition in Nigeria and for 2015 elections, APC are not it.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Reaction Of Nairalanders During The Offline Period! by sleekymag(m): 12:35pm On Jun 27, 2014
Glad to have Nairaland back. Am also one of the addicts on this site. Everyday i kept checking to see if it's back.

On another note, i was wondering if Seun could finally get to sell this website, make some cool millions of dollars, and move on to the next big project of his, plus maybe offer to help the new owners manage the site (whatsapp and facebook comes to mind). Having a downtime of 5days ain't cool at all. I think Nairaland should step up and start rivalling the Google, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram of this world.
SportsRe: It Will Be A Criminal Act If Mikel Does Not Win African Player Of The Year by sleekymag(m): 9:07am On Jan 07, 2014
Truth is Mikel has always been underrated because he doesn't score much goals but I tell you that guy is a big big asset to any title winning team. He deserves the AFOTY 2013 award. Head to head he outshone Yaya andDrogba at the nations cup. With Mourinho he also beat Man City at the Stamford Bridge 2-1 by frustrating Yaya this season. Mourinho initially overlooked him when he just came in as he was trying to find Chelsea's best eleven. Overtime he realized Mikel is actually Chelsea's best holding midfielder better than Ramires,Lamparrd and others for that position. Mikel I tell u is underrated and unappreciated by the untrained eyes.. There's a reason he always makes it despite the plethora of chelsea's coaches, Mourinho,Avram Grant, Scolari, Hiddink, Ancelotti, AVB, Di Matteo, Benitez and Mouringo again.

PoliticsRe: Cash-less Policy Begins In Kano, Anambra, Rivers, Ogun, Abia & Abuja by sleekymag(m): 2:38pm On Jul 01, 2013
Also please note that it is called 'Cash-less' and not 'Cashless' for a reason. It is cash-less because it doesn't mean no more handling of cash in the system but rather it means having less of cash in the system. This means cash-based transactions can still go on and not feel threatened in any way.
PoliticsRe: Cash-less Policy Begins In Kano, Anambra, Rivers, Ogun, Abia & Abuja by sleekymag(m): 2:24pm On Jul 01, 2013
BeraBera: Really? I've never been charged any extra amount for using POS to pay for anything. I'm yet to experience this.
No, you shouldn't be charged a thing as a customer using POS to pay for goods or services. I meant to say, as a merchant who uses the POS for his/her business, the official amount your bank charges you is 1.25% of transaction amount but a maximum of N2000.
PoliticsRe: Cash-less Policy Begins In Kano, Anambra, Rivers, Ogun, Abia & Abuja by sleekymag(m): 2:08pm On Jul 01, 2013
ouigy99: Its a nice idea, but its being abused. I remember going to a cardiologist a few months ago, the bill was 80,000 (naira), and i wanted to feel like a "cashless" guy, and wanted to use their POS, only to be told by the cashier, that i would pay charges which was almost 3k (meaning i would be paying 83k). When i asked, i was told that since the bank (shares a common name with Andy "uba"winkcharges them for using the POS, they have decided that its the customer that would bear the charges. I had to go look for the nearest ATM to physically withdraw. The point here is banks are using this to milk people, how can one pay charge of 3k for a 80k deal?
The truth is that according to CBN, the charges that will be paid by owners of the POS is only 1.25% of the transaction amount or a maximum of N2,000 per transaction. So in this case, 1.25% of N80,000 is N1,000. In other words, even if they are supposed to pass the charges to you, you should be paying N81,000 and not N83,000.

TV/MoviesRe: Why Are Nigerian Music Videos Better Than The Home Movies? by sleekymag(m): 6:32pm On Mar 11, 2013
Cine: nigerian music vids are technically a lot better than Nigerian films but conceptually they're no better than average. They're better technically because they're much easier to make due to the fact they last 3-5 minutes, whereas as a film has to hold ones attention for 80-120 minutes.

Besides for a nice song, all one needs to find is a nice hotel room, some good looking scantily clad girls, a hit song, that's well shot, and that's it.

A movie needs a world class script, and to date there have been no world class scripts written in Nigeria, because there are no world class nigeria screen writers working in the industry yet. As things develope, we'll see world class movies being made here.
I beg to differ. Well there maybe very few world class Nigerian screenwriters, but how can such scripts be produced or even come alive when we also need other world-class facilities. The thing is are there world-class directors, with world-class studio facilities, world-class equipment, and world-class crew and cast, backed by world-class producers, with world-class funds needed to produce these movies (a typical low budget Hollywood film cost a few million dollars). How long do you think a Nollywood producer can hold a supposed A-list actor for? How long does it take to do preproduction, actual shooting days, and post-production? And now the big question is, is there economic sense in investing such amount of money into such productions? What is the return on investment? How many people go to the cinemas to see nollywood films? How much of theatrical distribution income and non-theatrical distribution income would guarantee smiles on the faces of such investors? These should be the real questions, i think.

Music/RadioRe: Chaz B Leaves Inspiration FM by sleekymag(m): 1:32pm On Mar 08, 2013
Would really miss Chaz B, but i wonder why he resigned abruptly without telling us listeners. I still listened to him last week and also this monday. He had projects in the pipeline, like Cupid Express coming on stream within the next 2-3 months(a website for connecting singles ready for marriage), as well as starting up a dialysis centre, amongst others.

When he left the station for over six months due to his kidney health challenges, i remember vividly in December 2011 he said he would be going for a long vacation, at least, he notified us in advance. But this sudden resignation, i find quite suspicious. I hope it wasn't the management of Inspiration FM that led him to resign just like that. (Did they feel threatened by his huge followership and ''reverence'?)

Anyways, Chaz B was so much of an inspiration. Even though i've never called into the program, i've been following the prog since 2010 and its been great. Wana Wana would try to fill in, and she's decent in her own right, but you can't take it away from Chaz B that he had a ministry dimension to the show. It was like a calling. We'll miss you sir, and regards to your family.
SportsRe: Why Did Most Nigerians Support Burkina Faso Against Ghana? by sleekymag(m): 6:26pm On Feb 07, 2013
I supported Burkina Faso in that match because it was obvious they were better than the Ghanaians, they had more fighting spirit, and the referee seemed to be on Ghana's side with the questionable calls. However, i didn't want us to face Ghana in the final also because of the apparent boastfulness or pride of both their citizens and probably players. Ghanaians usually feel inferior to Nigerians, and in the quest to boost their ego, they like comparing themselves to us, instead of us taking each other as brothers. That rivalry with them is what just pisses me off. So its good to know we're not in the same class at least for the AFCON. Sometime in future, i want us to meet them and beat them silly. But even if we don't these are supposed to be just games, and not do-or-die affairs.
SportsRe: Is Keshi's Eagles The Worst Nigerian Team Ever ? by sleekymag(m): 11:16am On Jan 30, 2013
In the first half against Ethopia, Nigeria dominated possession 66% to Ethopia's 34%. At the end of the game, Nigeria still had 60% to Ethopia's 40%. It's just that the guys didn't have any cutting edge, and that is Keshi's fault IMHO.
SportsRe: Is Keshi's Eagles The Worst Nigerian Team Ever ? by sleekymag(m): 11:07am On Jan 30, 2013
You also didn't include the 2010 World Cup team in South Africa (though that wasn't an entirely bad team).

I still think Keshi's team (crop of players) is good. However, Keshi's tactical prowess leaves so much to be desired. How can you bring in Yobo as a replacement for a midfielder (Mikel) when you're two goals up, playing against a ten-man team with an auxiliary goalkeeper? KESHI is too defensive-conscious and that was what killed us in our first two games (defending after scoring just one goal, instead of going for more). I feel with another coach, this same team would have bagged 9 points easily.
PoliticsHas The Nigerian Judiciary Failed Us? by sleekymag(op): 9:29am On Jan 29, 2013
The Nigerian Judiciary leaves so so much to be desired. It angers me when i see the kind of judgement they have been passing particularly in the fight against corruption amongst many other cases. From acquitting James Ibori, when indeed he was guilty, to slapping Cecilia Ibru on the wrist by giving her a bed-rest jail term of 2 yrs or thereabout, to the slow process in trying Farouk Lawan, to the recent judgement of a N750, 000 fine (as an option for a 2yr jail term) for a Police Pension Boss (Thief) who admitted to stealing N2bn of the N27.2 billion fraud committed to countless other cases where the rulings have been fraudulently twisted. Not to talk of the many cases adjourned endlessly, and those awaiting trial year-in, year-out. The world is laughing at Nigeria. Can the Judiciary be this callous? From SANs and Lawyers who defend criminals and thieves to the Judges who pervert justice by twisting the law. If I was a lawyer i would be ashamed of the profession the way it's being done in Nigeria. It's really terrible and something should be done about this. Can we say there is hope for a progressive and crime-free Nigeria?
