Josh090: The only person getting the blessing is the pastor and his buddies, the rest of you are just being robbed voluntarily. Abi the church members no dey sick? Are they richer than Moslems? Its not a "richest religion contest" my brother. It's service but you won't understand, that's why i said there's no need taking panadol for other people's supposed headache, when in actual fact they're being blessed. I don't think i want to argue though. |
Josh090: Well then, this is what they call being foolhardy. If being blessed means being foolhardy, then its a beautiful definition. Cos they say, the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God and vice versa. Its results and proofs that matter. |
Shut the faaack up you brainwashed troglodyte
I definitely hit a nerve there; keep crying then!!! |
Josh090: I've asked this question before but imma ask again, when did God announce any man on earth His man? Can't you see, he's buying jets on your ignorant asses! His members never told you they are complaining. Infact, many of them are being blessed daily, and breakthroughs keep happening left, right and centre! I wonder why those who complain the most are those who have no connection to his ministry, or did he swindle you of your money? Abeg lets stop taking panadol for other people's supposed headache. |
striktlymi: Good afternoon,Well, I am not just speculating, I know because i have heard them directly from his mouth (and even very recently), he said he is not a signatory to the church accounts, neither has he earned one kobo from the books he has authored. Men of his ilk, are blessings to the world. |
Asides that,he didnt say d university was built by him.actually it's d church that owns d universities(covenant, landmark and more coming).just dat wat he said was d church didnt hav 2 raise any special offerin or call members privately askin 4 funds. |
It would interest u 2 know that Oyedepo hasnt received income 4rm d over 50 books he has written..as they are spiritual materials.yes,he said he stopped receiving salary in 1987 and also he's not a signatory 2 d church financial accounts. |
This shows Obasanjo's time was a good time (1976 - 1979). Buhari's truncation of the new democracy after Obasanjo handed over to Shagari may have turned the tide. Moreover that's the period when the naira started depreciating against the dollar, and pound. |
@Op and other questions being asked. Very nice questions. I hope all Nollywood producers and directors take this and improve particularly on Continuity issues. Most of them do not use standard production forms such as breakdown sheets, comprehensive shooting schedules, daily production reports and so on...its just german-german. |
dare2think: ok. There is goes the chance to convert me!I wouldn't try to convert you, because its obvious you know the scriptures and have heard the word of God many times over. If God wills it for you come back to him, he'll do it subtly. Cos i know right now, you're just waiting on a word to pounce on. Just know that Jesus loves you, and wishes you understood him more. |
dare2think: You may be surprised you know, please try and explain the mysteries to me.I won't try to explain to you, my friend. You said you don't believe the bible. Funny enough, you know some scriptures, but since you said you don't believe even the written word, how can you grasp the mysteries contained therein? |
dare2think: OK, at least I'm still human though. You said you do not believe the bible, and so it would be difficult for you to grasp the mysteries contained in it. As to whether the bible subscribes to his activities would be determined by what his actual or alleged activities are. |
iyes: @ sleekymag:I appreciate your thoughts but i have a few things to say. Firstly, i do not hero-worship anyone apart from God Almighty and his precious son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, whilst i acknowledge the need to have qualitative education at relatively cheap prices for the citizenry. Your analogy here in using government people (Bolivian and Malawian presidents)to compare with a missionary is faulty. If you were comparing a missionary university with Winners, then i would understand. I think it should be directed at our political leaders instead (e.g. the supposedly best governor who increased tuition fees in LASU to about 250k). I know that when Landmark university was established all those who got admission to study Agric-related course were given scholarships, because the mandate of that university is to drive the agrarian revolution of Nigeria. Till now scholarships are being given for such courses irrespective of your financial standing. Like someone said earlier on this thread, the fees for CU are within the range of N450,000 to N650,000 depending on the courses (i don't know the actual amounts). he also said these amounts are actually subsidized, and he may not be far from the truth. i know of a private university here in Nigeria whose students pay N1.5 million per session (Baze University), and when you want to compare the quality of education plus moral soundness and entrepreneural empowerment, you'd agree with me CU gives arguably the best value for private university education in Nigeria. (I also mentioned earlier that 12 out of 100 first class students to be given scholarship to study in the top 25 universities in the world by the President GEJ were from CU, after a screening test of first class graduates across all universities in the country. That speaks volume about the university in only 10years of existence. I could go on and on, but let me leave it like this for now. |
dare2think: No, I'm not!Now that explains it all! If you are not a Christian, and you do not believe in the bible, there is no way you can actually understand these things. I appreciate you for your honesty though. |
dare2think: lol at the professor! You clearly have not been reading my post properly, comprehension inadequacy yet again. If you have, then you would note that I care less about buildings and material substances that much. It's the moral and ethical aspects that I find interests in. Yes, I already have a mindset based on his activities, but don't you too?Ok, let's be objective here. I know where you are coming from, and i understand you. But first things first, i need to ask you a question. Are you a christian, and do you believe in the bible? |
dare2think: Remember what I said about your comprehension skills, in your hurry to ascertain your gullibility, you fail to see the reason the question was asked in that particular post. You need to read posts more to be able to grasp the concept of discourse. Like I said previously, perhaps you should read the post again and the context of the quoted post to understand why the question was asked. Not my fault you find it difficult! My friend, am afraid its your own comprehension skills that leaves much to be desired. Whilst i have been objective from the get-go since joining this conversation, you are the one who has stubbornly refused to accept other's points of view. You already have a brazen mindset of who Bishop Oyedepo is, and of course his having a 3rd university is filling you with more rage than u can stomach. Sorry about how you feel, but if you want us to discuss objectively, then probably we can each throw more light as to why we hold our different opinions. Till then, don't act like you're a professor, cos you don't know me. |
So from the tone of my voice, u can't decode that am a CU graduate. We're proud eagles oga. We even raise school fees in class for less priviledged friends. Havin gone through unilag and lautech and graduatn at CU, l know how undergraduates and graduates from federal, state and private universities think. Stop the hate and spread the word. 4-more universities to go. Like l said earlier, its not for everyone and you can apply for the schorlarship package.
I have a friend, who was on full scholarship at CU, from 100level to final year. and she made a first class. today she's doing her masters degree in Europe, and on scholarship too. Tell me what the fate of this girl would have been, an orphan for that matter. |
dare2think: Dude, the question was not directed to you!Touch what nerve? In your dreams my friend. What i find appalling however is that you call him a charlatan and a fraud and all that. So why asking what his source of income is, since you've already defined him with your myopic sense of reasoning? dare2think: Well, I was waiting for the typical 'what have you done' that always seem to follow when a criticism have been lodged at this demi-god. Very Typical. |
dare2think: Are you sure they are not complaining? So the fact politicians are getting away with it, why should't the pastors, right? This is becoming like a broken record. Maybe you can go and ask the man himself! |
dare2think: Another typical lazy rhetoric!I know your type! In the bid not to be outdone you just think you have to say something. If it affects you that much, do something about it rather than rant on here. |
dare2think: Well, I was waiting for the typical 'what have you done' that always seem to follow when a criticism have been lodged at this demi-god. Very Typical.I won't bang words with you. Satisfy yourself with your opinions of him. There's no need to cry more than the bereaved, you are not a member of hsi church, neither do you pay your offerings to him. His members are not complaining. |
iyes: @ sleekymag:How did i imply the end justifies the means? What won't take us far at all? What would you rather have him do? To not have a vision? To not empower hundreds of thousands and possibly, millions of Africans who have been products of neglected governments since time immemorial? To not collect offerings and tithes in the church abi? To be synonymous with the "as poor as a church rat" mantra? We all know God's will for us is to prosper and be in good health, even as our soul prospers! |
harlos: Instead of universities y not construct a company that will reduce the numbers if unemployment in ur country...Now that's funny. How many employees work in a university? 10, 20, hundreds? The man employs thousands of people, who directly shoulder the responsibilities of their immediate and extended families. So you can see the multiplied effect. Another one is, the people being educated are being empowered, so its not just about giving people fish but about empowering the future leaders of this country to also be fishermen. |
dare2think: Visionary leader in your world.Being a visionary leader doesn't mean dying for other people my friend. You can be a religious visionary leader, a business visionary leader, a social crusader with a vision for a preferred future, and what have you. If his having jets, and buildings and stuff is choking your sense of reason as to what the bigger picture may be, then i do not think it's the man's fault. What have you in your own little way contributed to humanity? What are you doing about it, if you haven't started? We all have the ability within our calling, to make a difference! And besides, its always easy to criticize. |
For the records, recently President Goodluck Jonathan announced a scholarship scheme for 100 first class graduates of Nigerian Universities to study in any of the top 25 universities in the world. So all first class graduates had to write the various aptitude tests. Of the 100 scholarships available, 12 of them were from Covenant University! That's like one in every eight students chosen. |
dare2think: The ignorance of the Majority of Nigerian Christians is nauseating. We have thousands of years to go before we attain the level of enlightenment needed to improve that nation as a whole.Well, when some supposedly enlightened minds are already prejudiced, they fail to see the great intentions of visionary leaders like Bishop Oyedepo. Hence you wonder who the real ignorant minds are. ![]() |
All you peeps who think Mikel might not be able to write good songs nor sing should have a re-think. Who says you can't be gifted in more than one area? Do you know R.Kelly was at some point a professional basketball player? (Infact he's the first music star to be a pro b-baller). He left music for sometime in the 90's to play in the NBA, before coming back fully into music cos he just wanted to fulfil one of his childhood dreams. We all have some gifts in other areas too though there would always be the dominant talent. Make una give d guy breather joor! ![]() |
So are we now glorifying DEBT? Glorifying our ability to become one of the top rated debtors in the world? |
ATIKU ke? NO WAY!!! HE SHOULD JUST GO AND REST JOOR! IS IT A MUST FOR HIM TO BE PRESIDENT? PRESIDENCY SHOULD BE ABOUT SERVICE NOT ABOUT AMBITION. I'D RATHER VOTE FOR BUHARI THAN ATIKU (EVEN THOUGH I'VE NEVER SUPPORTED BUHARI) |
Right, you are ! Eja/culation and anxiety are both autonomic sympathetic events. The boy in question needs to both medical and psychological intervention. He may also benefit form taking beta-blockers during exams and other anxious periods.
True bro, i think he just has to sort of develop mental toughness at such times. that is, not putting himself under any pressure whatsoever. BTW, wat are beta-blockers? |
Happy Birthday Sir! You are a blessing to humanity, and we thank God for your impact. As your years increase, so shall your strength increase. The path of the just shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day. Remain blessed in God's love. |
