i think so too and it is more of a mental thing. Once he allows the pressure of tension to overwhelm him mentally, that's when such happens, whether writing exams or about to, or during something else. I think he just has to find a way of being in control mentally.

True, its mental but whether emotional, i dont know. One thing though is he doesn't have sex often cos he's not married yet, and he doesn't self-serivce or do any of such stuff.

During my NYSC in Anambra in 2005, the principal of the Anglican secondary school i was posted to, a bachelor Reverend and pastor of a parish in the town, was gay. He had boys that lived with him too, he abhorred females coming close to him, and on one occasion he even made advances at me until he knew i wasn't one of those he could systematically get. This man was a character; my fellow corpers in the same school spotted his gayish behaviours and he was such a clown. Well, he schooled abroad for sometime before becoming a principal, the man was a sharp man, he would cut corners, he was also a loud-mouthed sanguine who would use his queen english to bamboozle the people of that town. He was just something else!

Intelligent, no doubt; but full of himself and thinks he knows it all, whereas he doesn't. Also needs to be called to order time and again and should stick to banking and economy matters rather than almost every topic of social discourse. We don't see other Central Bank Governors in other countries of the world commenting outside their immediate spheres of influence.

A friend needs help. He told me whenever he's tensed as in gets heightened tension, he ej.aculates. See Nigerians, do you know what it means to get depressed to the point of being suicidal? You loose hope in everything, read his story, he lost every thing and felt God was far away, he didnt get there in one day. Am sure at one point he must have believed in God but the way we only preach here and dont show love he may have lost his faith.
In US, every small church has a soup kitchen so at least pple will have places to get a meal, not so here even with all our churches

One of his friends on facebook confirmed his demise. Facebook doesn't put dates to friendships. That friendship could as well as been made on the 25th.

Well, it could go either ways, he could actually have committed suicide, or he could still be alive. You are right with d friendship thing not having dates though, those friends he added seemed to be around that day 25th or just before. Depression is something that affects people, but one needs to turn to God when all else fails. It is well!

d guy's not dead joor. recent activities on his page says he just made some new friends. Moreover, his comments on many of his pictures, shows he sometimes talks anyhow, blaspheming sef in one instance. May God help him!

Truth is that there are so many problems in Nigeria, hence the opportunities here are enormous, and as a result, Nigerians will naturally have business ideas at some point in their lives. In most other developed countries, most ideas u can think up have already been exploited, that's why its more difficult coming up with ideas in those countries. U can see the article says Nigeria and Kenya have about the same innovation %, so i think its a trait peculiar to developing countries.

Nice thread, but the 'grammar bashing' would deter some people from posting comments, i think. The title of the topic also has grammatical flaws if we are to look at that. But the crux of the matter here is the experience, and not grammar technicalities. However, i had my MBA in Unilag, and it was okay. Challenging but rewarding.

I have a friend who had a first class from a private university in Nigeria here, and that wrote the NNPC exam and didnt make it. That's not to say she's not intelligent. She actually is, but then aptitude test is different from normal academic exams. Also lots of factors can affect people's performance, such as inadequate preparations to name a few.

Well, let me share my opinion from personal experience and those of people I know. Ok, I made a 2:2. Of course i hated to have come out with such result, because i believe i deserved more. I studied Elect/Elect from AAU, Ekpoma, and my CGPA was 3.3. However (my excuse), i never blocked/bribed a lecturer one day throughout my stay in school (though it was the norm), because of my moral standards. I also had challenges financial challenges at some point, u know being victimised for not buying handouts or lecturers' textbooks, which means your exam in some cases which is 60 marks, is what u have to depend on. In such instances, getting an A proved impossible. In other courses where such wasn't done, i had my As in a few of them. Of course blocking lecturers was the norm, particularly in final year, if u want your GPA to increase.

I've had opportunities to do Chevron tests and Total tests where i passed well. (We were only 2 picked for Chevron internship, that passed the aptitude tests, the other would eventually make a 2:1 and is in NNPC today. Other interns later joined us in our time). I also did Unilag MBA qualifying exam and came out as 4th best out of thousands of candidates, graduates from many other schools (my ranking would have been higher if i had a 2:1 cos i scored overall 2nd highest), many of whom made 2:1s and a few 1st class. Throughout my MBA fulltime program, despite working full-time, and schooling at the same time, i came out tops in my class every semester and eventually graduated as the best student with a CGPA of over 4 point. Of course in Unilag, there was nothing like settling lecturers, or anything of the sort. you could be sure so many people who came to me from time to time for tutorials were shocked i made a 2:2; many didnt even believe me. But now, the marketplace is warped, most screen out 2:2s even without giving them an opportunity to test them. And then again, you won't blame those who fight tooth and nail and do all sorts to make sure they graduate with such grades. However, about 50% of them, in my opinion, actually are intelligent.

Now there's this other friend of mine, who went to the same FGC i attended, he was a set ahead of me, and was the best in his set. 8As and 1C in his WAEC. He went to OAU Ife, and came out with a 2:2 (Elect/Elect). Today he is recognized as Nigeria's first IT Youth Ambassador, and didnt take up paid employment. He runs several NGOs today and is very comfortable and fulfilled. I also run my own company today (not engineering), and am thinking of a bigger picture; i entered into the field of my passion and not engineering.

So judging a book by its cover is not good enough, whether discarding it cos its not attractive enough or buying it because its cover is appealing.

This is just a strategy to ensure that Namadi Sambo doesn't come out in 2015 vying for the number one post. Goodluck has said he won't be running, and that leaves Sambo as the next logical person, since he's from the North. Now some PDP power-hungry hustlers have started the groundwork.

We can be a developed country, but no be beans. It will take sincerity on the part of leadership, it will take unity of the Nigerian people (not our celebrated tribal differences), it will take having a sense of pride about our identity, which many Nigerians have lost, it will take revolutionary policies, it will take so so much. Where is China heading today? Where is Singapore? It might take 50 years, 100 years, maybe never, but it all depends on our resolve and vision which everyone must buy into.

Growth depends on the level we are looking at. Most important is the level of (un)employment. Is it rising or reducing? Are people feeling the impact? What the common man enjoys or not should be a true reflection of how much the economy is growing or not.

Also, whether service-oriented or manufacturing inclined? what areas are truly being developed relative to the rest of the world? We are getting better gradually, because we have no choice (just imagine what or how Nigeria would be without the GSM revolution, considering the fact that virtually every other country has/had adopted it). To me, those are just inevitable developments. Nigeria needs more than that to truly progress.

This should give us more reason to say great things about our country Nigeria. If there's anything we love doing, particularly on Nairaland, it is to badmouth our fatherland, our leaders etc. I think we need to change for the better.

Dangote is simply a smart man, one with an obsession to dominate the world, and his wealth building strategies are d bomb, everyday products we need, something we all cannot do without; food, cement, real estate, sugar, salt, oil and gas. On top of that his insider love with the stock exchange, last i remembered, he was the president of the NSE or something like that. His wealth surged 557% in the last one year, making him the world's biggest earner for 2010, and as such became the 51st richest in the world, and richest african. Now he has plans to list on the London stock exchange, plans to expand across africa, and you can imagine how much more his wealth will increase in the coming years. Fact he used the government to help his cause, now he's concentrating on africa and the rest of the world. bottomline, he's a man with a vision, he's not where he wants to be yet, so cannot stop. You can't go farhter than your vision. so to answer the OP's question, most people are not making money like dangote now because they do not think like him.
