u r sayin it like we r asking too much of u girls and by the way, yes i can pay 4 my daughter's wedding as long as i am assured the guy has a future. like sum1 said earlier, it is customary 4 the bride family to take care of the wedding bills here in the usa but funny enough the nigerian girls refuse to observe that part of the american culture but when it comes to cooking and other stuff, they quickly dump the african culture and claim westernized, yeye!
I guess you will also pay for your daughter's rent and all while she lives with her husband after the wedding as long as he says he has a future abi? Everybody and their opinion. i will gratuitously fund SOME of my wedding expenses but will not fut the whole damn bill unless on the circumstances I listed previously. I still don't understand why the guy can't wait until he is able to do so instead of looking for a girl to dwindle!
well he might have lost his job, he might be poor, he might be in school etc but most importantly, he is praying somewhere and asking God, hope this is not a big mistake  tongue tongue tongue
well if he is in school, I will wait for him to graduate and get a job! if he lost his job and we are planning the wedding ALREADY, then I will sponsor the wedding, if he is praying to God for money as he doesn't have any, we will wait until God ANSWERS his prayer.

If a guy can't sponsor his own wedding what's next, I have to buy my own ring too, pay the rent, insurance etc come on!

I have a questions for you gentlemen, what if the lady in question is your daughter or sister? so you the father or brother will deem it ok for your sister/daughter to spend your family's money while the guy continue to pray to God? please lets get real! If you are not ready for the financial aspect of marriage, why marry? Wait until you can reasonably afford it!

you men of nowadays expect ladies to work, clean, bear children, be sexy while at it! during the time of my grand father, women were home makers while the guy makes most of the money! now you want women to come and marry a man and cater for all the eexpenses give us a damn Break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what would the guy be doing while I am sponsoring for my own wedding alone?

is it that he doesn't have a job, or, suddenly broke,  or in school or what?

I really do not mind to share the bills but I need some sort of explanation to what this guy would be doing while i am spending my money alone?

posakosa:
To all Nigerians out there, a sucessful marriage often times has nothing to do with religion.  Most conversations I have with Nigerians they more than always want to involve religion when discussing issues related to marriage. As someone has stated previously, there are some atheists out there with successful marriages.

Any kind of success in this world, has to do with self.
Agreed! but ONESELF almost always involves religion. I cannot count my weekly activities or even my thoughts without including God in it. I practice christianity. and what I do, is who I am!

Meldrick:
People like u who claim to be adults in the game and prove to know everything about marriages end up hitting the rock. May thay not be your portion. Say AMENThis is part of what civilization or copying the so-called western culture has caused. Ladies nowadays feel so comfortable been single parents and they see no big deal about it. They feel free walking in and out of any marriage the way they like. No xtra commitment.
what about men who starts affairs and even walks out on their marriages? this not a matter of women seeing single parenting as casual.

REAL TRUTH:
Even Pastors in naija gets Divorce,,,so how do you reconcile that??There was a particular lady(check the romance thread) who got married and wedded in churches three times within a year,,,and two of these men were Pastors,,,,
The answer is that most people get married for the wrong reasons
Just becuase someone is a pastor does not mean that he/she upholds bible principles. Just my two cents!

@POSTER: we all have to be selfless for our marriages to work but many of us love ourselves better than anything/anyone else!

Why was the bride frying goat meat sef?
this was on Friday morning. not many people were around then and beside the goat meat was frozen so we had to defrost it with hot water there by incurring more work.

I was a chief brides maid for my friend last year so I can tell u from experience. This is in the US mind you and realistically, I was more than a chief brides maid. my job was as follows:

I did my friend's (bride) hair and makeup, made sure that all the brides maid atires were ready and maintained, me and my friend (bride) fried all the goat meat  cry, I made sure we had the hair dresser for the brides maid were on time as well as the florist, I kept an eye on our outta state guests and made sure they are fed on friday befor the wedding, on the day of the wedding, it was my job to make sure that the bride's changing dresses/traditional wear came to hall with us, I helped her change when it was time, I secured our belongings in the hall so there are no misplacement of items, I made sure the bride and groom ate at the reception as well as packed some extra food for home. I was at the high table some of the time but managed to make sure that drinks, food were served at the appropriate time! of course, I had to give a speech prior to toasting, and finally I made sure that my friend was looking her best at the whole event!

oh yeah and I had to hold the dress train when we were taking pictures and stuff! Sadly, we are no longer that close. shit happens right?

spank him or her and give time outs! if he/she have video game, seize and buy him no snack when he misbehaves.

my little brothers dont mess with me when am around ooh! since you can beat them here in the US, I sieze their games and refrain from droping them off to mall or to a friend's house! if they didn't do the dishes, I carry them drop for their bed grin

i guess burying folks in the village is alright becuase people dont buy and sale houses there like white people do. can you but a house knowing that someone is buried in front of the house? burying in front and at the back in the village is okay but inside the house? ha! i don't think soooh!

my cousin's dad was buried inside their chapel in their mansion in the village, guess what? none of us uses that stair case that lead there anymore while the mom still expects us to go in there and pray! ha!
